More than 50 people were injured. 10,000 supporters were expected at the rally, but police say at least twice that many showed up. Both police and the family of Nuran Rezai are calling for calm ahead of a protest in Longue, Quebec today. The 15-year-old was shot and killed by police last Sunday. Quebec's police watchdog says only the officer's gun was found at the scene and its individual. investigating. There needs to be a public inquiry and a general plan, a coordinated plan for the next five to ten years as far as how we treat youth and we need to have a ministry of youth in Quebec. Protesters will march to the headquarters of the Longuei Police Department. The governing party in Quebec adopted a new resolution. banning anyone from covering their face in public places. And while it's a non-binding resolution, Premier Franco Lago says he's open to studying the idea. Katie Senei has more from the CAQ Convention.
Starting point is 00:03:13 I think it's normal that we think about it. Premier Francoe Lago wants his government to study the possibility of banning people from covering their faces in public spaces. CAQ Youth Wing member Bejamaen Archimboe explained why he was proposing the ban. For him, it's a question of security and also a question of principle.
Starting point is 00:03:33 We can't accept women wearing the niqab in an egalitarian society, he said. But member Francis Bourbeau thought the proposal went too far. The minister responsible for secularism, Jean-François-Roberge
Starting point is 00:03:49 voted in favor. Because it was important to open the discussion within the party. How far will the resolution go and will it imply wearing the niqab? For Reberge, it's too soon to answer. I think it's still a kid. Robert is set to table a bill to reinforce secularism in Quebec later this fall.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Katzisone, CBC News, Gatineau. A massive search for a missing six-year-old boy resumed this morning in southwestern Alberta. Darius McDougal was last seen last Sunday while walking with young relatives near their campsite. Hundreds of searches are out with dogs, drones and air cross. craft. And Hurricane Humberto is now a Category 4 storm down from a category 5 overnight, but it's expected to gain strength again today.
