The spirit of innovation is deeply ingrained in Canada,
and Google is helping Canadians innovate in ways both big and small,
from mapping accessible spaces so the disabled community can explore with confidence,
to unlocking billions in domestic tourism revenue.
Thousands of Canadian companies are innovating with Google AI.
Innovation is Canada's story. Let's tell it together.

From CBC News, the world this hour.
I'm Stephanie Skanderas.
Today marks the fifth national day for truth and reconciliation.
And across the country, people paused and remembered survivors
and children who did not make it home from residential schools.
The ceremonies took place nearly a decade
since the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission
made its 94 calls to action.
David Thurton has more from Ottawa.
And a prison watch means to listen.
That was our Algonquin name
until the missionaries, the priests,
they changed it, or government, whoever changed it?
As children, Jackie Pizzinawach and her brother Eddie,
were taken to a church-run residential school in Kenora, Ontario.
Like so many forced into the government-funded institutions,
they returned with painful memories.
I talked to my sisters, they were just sitting there
and you're traumatized, and they're trying to, you don't know.
You don't know what to say, think, you know?
Both siblings were in Ottawa.
They scarred our skin.
For ceremonies marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,
so was Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Canada's new government is moving forward on the truth and reconciliation's commission's calls for action.
Carney says he's committed to advancing the work of the commission
through addressing gaps in health care, housing, and economic opportunity.
David Thurton, CBC News, Ottawa.
The Federal Energy Minister says he's disappointed with Imperial Oil's plan to lay off 20% of its workforce by 2027.
That equals 900 positions, most of them based in Calgary.
Tim Hodgson says he's working to understand the company's decision.
He promises the government will explore ways to support the workers losing their jobs.
Calgary-based Imperial says the cuts are part of a restructuring plan.
Dozens of families have been forced from their homes in Nova Scotia's, Annapolis,
Valley. The Lake George Wildfire broke out Sunday and rapidly grew to 300 hectares. Officials say those
who have not been evacuated should be ready to go at a moment's notice. David Corcom is mayor of
Kings County. He wants people to take evacuation notices seriously. The woods and area is still very,
very dry and no rain in sight for another week or two. So it's still a desperate situation and people
have to be very, very careful. And this is a prime example of how things can get out of hand very quickly.
This fire just mushroomed. The fire broke out not long after a nearby fire at Long Lake was brought
under control. The Trump administration says all soldiers in combat roles must meet what it calls
the highest male standard. The president and his defense secretary today shared a litany of complaints
and announced changes to the military. And they say those who don't like it,
should quit. Katie Nicholson reports.
Please take your seats.
Before hundreds of top U.S. military brass,
Defense Secretary Pete Hankseth
railed against wokeness and progressive values in the military,
promising to review how it defines and investigates complaints
of bullying and hazing.
And he stressed how soldiers should look.
It's tiring to look out at combat formations or really any formation
and see fat troops.
Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals
in the halls of the Pentagon.
And called for combat standards,
to return to the highest male level.
If that means no women qualify for some combat jobs, so be it.
In a wide-ranging address, U.S. President Donald Trump
suggested using so-called dangerous American cities as military training grounds.
They spit, we hit.
And that police and military be allowed to retaliate if their vehicles are hit by bricks.
You get out of that car and you can do whatever ahead you want to do.
Katie Nicholson, CBC News, Toronto.
And President Trump says Hamas has three or four
days to respond to his Gaza peace proposal. Trump announced the plan yesterday following a three-hour
White House meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan has the backing of the Israeli Prime Minister,
as well as a number of Arab and European nations and Canada. And that is your world this hour.
