But instead of helping our kids, the Ford government is playing politics, taking over school boards and silencing local voices. It shouldn't be this way. The incident occurred on Yom Kapoor, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. Here is British Prime Minister Kirstarmer. and we will do everything to keep our Jewish community safe. It's believed the suspected attacker was shot and killed by police. However, because the suspect may have been armed with an explosive device, official confirmation has yet to be released. The Trump administration is threatening to carry out mass job cuts across the Federal Public Service. The threats come on the second day of the U.S. government shutdown. Willie Lowry reports now from Washington. The Trump administration has been pretty adamant.

It wants to use this shutdown as an opportunity to cut what it perceives as government waste. And that very well may mean laying people off. President Donald Trump on social media said, quote, Republicans must use this opportunity of Democrat forced closure to clear out dead wood, waste, and fraud. Billions of dollars can be saved. Now White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt echoing the president's comments. Unfortunately, because the Democrats shut down the government,

the president has directed his cabinet and the Office of Management and Budget is working with agencies across the board to identify where cuts can be made. and we believe that layoffs are imminent. And this all comes after a tumultuous year for federal employees. The Trump administration has already laid off tens of thousands of workers as part of the Department of Government Efficiency's efforts to reduce spending. Willie Lowry, CBC News, Washington. The Israeli military says the global Samud Flotilla is no longer sailing toward Gaza.

The IDF has been intercepting the activist boat by boat in preventing the flotilla from delivering aid to the Palestinian territory. Israel says the flotilla members are being brought to shore where they will be deported. Sasha Petrissik has more. 160 kilometers from Gaza's coast, a boatload of heavily armed Israeli troops board the sailboat all in. Its crew and passengers, activists, are detained at gunpoint. The scene has been repeated all night. I am concerned with my safety.
