But instead of helping our kids, the Ford government is playing politics, taking over school boards and silencing local voices. It shouldn't be this way. Tell the Ford government to get serious about tackling overcrowded classrooms because smaller classes would make a big difference for our kids.

Hamas also agreed to hand over administration of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian technocrats, but it also calls for negotiations on significant details like timing. Amas also says it won't disarm until Israeli troops leave Gaza altogether. For Canadian baseball fans, it's game day. Toronto Blue Jays host to the National, excuse me, the New York Yankees this afternoon in the first matchup of their American League Division series. The Jays haven't made it this far in the postseason in nearly a decade. And as Thomas Dachlan reports, Canada's only major league team has fans dreaming of the World Series.
Starting point is 00:01:52 For a whole generation of Blue Jays fans, October has never felt quite this exciting. The last time they were good 10 years ago, I was not even 10. With a team that finished at the top of the American League, now entering the playoffs energized, having skipped the wildcard round. Go, Jays, go. They're ticking it all the way. Manager John Schneider leads the squad that few expected early on would go this far in the fall. It's cool to say, you know, that you're playing for a country. East Coast to West Coast. Everyone's pulling for this team. It's the first time ever the Jays faced their rivals from New York in the playoffs. Both teams finished the season with the same record, setting up what promises to be a hard-fought best-of-five series

Canada Post has taken lifetime employment guarantees off the table in its latest offer to striking postal workers. Like previous offers, it proposes a salary increase of more than 13% over four years. The Canadian Union of Postal Worker, Workers calls that insulting. Here's Cup W negotiator, Jim Galant. Instead of coming closer, the government has interfered and said that they're going to cut service.
Starting point is 00:03:06 And we voted no. The minister ordered a vote back in May, and members heavily voted against it. And this is the punishment that we received from this government. This is union busting 101. We need to put a stop to this stuff. Workers walked last week after the federal government announced major operational changes, including ending door-to-door delivery and shuddering some rural post offices.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Japan is poised to have its first female prime minister. Zanai Takasi was selected as the new leader of Japan's ruling party, the Liberal Democrats. It's been trying to regain public support after losing parliamentary majorities. Currently, the LDP leads a coalition government. A parliamentary vote on the 15th will decide whether Takasi will become prime minister. Venezuelan President Nicola Maduro is a key. accusing the U.S. of trying to impose regime change. It follows the latest strike on a boat off the Venezuelan coast.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Maduro is threatening the people will take up arms against the United States to protect Venezuela's sovereignty. In the U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hakesh has, according to intelligence, the four people killed aboard the small vessel were narco-terrorists. President Donald Trump Thursday declared the U.S. in armed conflict with drug. cartels. Ontario Provincial Police say they've busted illegal cannabis production sites on Tayaneda Maguag Territory in eastern Ontario. Provincial and Tayanaga police say the sites were controlled by non-indigenous organized crime networks. $122 million worth of plants were seized, along with firearms, ammo, and other property.
