From CBC News, the world this hour.
I'm Andrea Belmer.
Israel has dialed back its attacks on Gaza and says it will halt them all together, but it hasn't stopped yet.
All this in response to a deal put together by the Trump administration in which Hamas has agreed
to release all remaining hostages.
As Paul Hunter tells us,
all this has given Israeli hostage families
some guarded optimism.
At Hostage Square in Tel Aviv tonight, hope.
A weekly rally demanding the release of the hostages
held by Hamas and an end to Israel's war in Gaza
tonight packed with those hoping the U.S. proposed peace deal
might actually finally get that done.
Jasmine Argman, among the many, many thousands who turned out.
Like I'm shaking here, I believe, you know, I believe the time is now.
With Hamas having put conditions on signing off on it, U.S. President Donald Trump today said
Hamas must move quickly or all bets are off.
But as negotiators for Hamas, Israel and the U.S. prepare for fresh talks in Cairo on this,
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tonight says, quote,

train hit in a Russian drone attack. At least one person was killed and at least 30 were injured,

evacuating people. He says he believes Moscow is trying to isolate frontline communities.
Customs enforcement is continuing military-style raids in Chicago. This week they used a Black Hawk
helicopter to land on the roof of an apartment building, repelled down the outside, broke down
doors, and detained people regardless of their immigration status. Steve Futterman has the
details. Ice officials in Chicago are continuing the most brazen immigration crackdown so far. It's
called Operation Midway Blitz. In recent days, there have been numerous raids. In one, an apartment
building was the target. Numerous people were taken into custody, including this black woman
born in the U.S. with no immigration issue. I've never had a gun put in my face. They ask my name
and my date of birth. She was still handcuffed, taken away, and held for several hours before being
released. Children were also detained. This man was there. We're under siege. We're being invaded
by our own military. The governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, calls it an attack on Americans. People of
Illinois. We need your help. Get out your cell phones. Record and narrate what you see.
The Department of Homeland Security defends the actions. It says dozens of people in the U.S.
illegally have been taken into custody during the raids. Steve Futterman, CBC News, Los Angeles.
Marine Land is asking Ottawa for emergency funding to feed and care for its whales, saying the only other
option is euthanasia. Earlier this week, Federal Fisheries Minister Joanne Tom
Johnson denied Marine Land's request to export 30 belugas to an aquarium in China.
Marine Land has asked Thompson to help them find an acceptable place to send the whales,
saying they can no longer afford to take care of them.
And in just a few minutes, the Toronto Blue Jays will start their playoff run with their first game against the New York Yankees.
The Jays topped the American League standings ahead of New York, but they're still considered underdogs.
Several players, including Boba Chet, are nursing injuries and won't play,
but they definitely have the weather on their side.
