A weekly rally demanding the release of the hostages held by Hamas
and an end to Israel's war in Gaza tonight packed with those hoping the U.S. proposed peace deal
might actually finally get that done.

With Hamas having put conditions on signing off on it,
U.S. President Donald Trump today said Hamas must move quickly or all bets are off.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Ettingahu tonight says,
quote, we are on the verge of a great achievement.
Demanded those at the rally, just get it done.

Now to an achievement in our country,
the Toronto Blue Jays won the first game in their American League divisional series
with the New York Yankees.
That bang, a home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., starting the Jays towards a 10-1 victory
over the New York Yankees.
It's the first time that the two post-season faced off postseason, and the Jays' first
post-season win since 2016.
Game 2 goes tomorrow afternoon in Toronto.
A U.S. federal judge has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's plan to send 200 members
of the National Guard into Portland, Oregon.
gun. That order follows a lawsuit by the city and the state, but 300 national troop guards
are heading to Chicago, where protests are already underway. That chant, you can see it,
you can feel it, the people are present. Demonstrators faced off against immigration
and customs enforcement officers who've been firing tear gas at the crowds. The White House says
the soldiers are being sent in to tamp down riots and lawlessness, but Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker says
it's a performance rather than a serious attempt to protect public safety.
Liberals in President Rhode Island have a new party leader,
one they hope will revive the party's fortunes in a part of the country
where the liberals usually do well. Wayne Tibodeau has more.
PEI liberals went with experience and stability and electing a new leader today.
Former MLA and cabinet minister Robert Mitchell won with more than 2300 of the 2,800
votes cast. That's more than 80%. Mitchell spent 13 years in politics and served as a
cabinet minister in health and environment in a speech to party members.
Mitchell said the Liberal Party has lost trust with too many islanders.
He says he plans to rebuild that trust, one small conversation at a time.
The Liberals only hold four seats in the PEI legislature.
In a region of the country where the liberal brand is strong,
the liberals hold all federal seats in PEI.
It's not known who Mitchell will face in the next election.
Former PEI Premier Dennis King resigned earlier this year.
The PC Party has yet to pay.
pick a date for its leadership convention. In fact, every PEI political party will go into the next
election with a new leader. Wayne Tobito, CBC News, Charlottetown. In the Czech Republic,
a political comeback for her former Prime Minister.
Andre Babbage thanks a crowd of supporters after his party won the country's parliamentary election.
His party took the most seats with 35% of the vote, but not enough to secure a majority.
Babbage has been a fierce critic of his country's military support of Ukraine
and has pledged to stop sending weapons in artillery there.
Opposition parties have accused Babish of wanting to move the Czech Republic away from the European Union and NATO,
and toward Russia, something he denies.
