He said IDF forces would be redeployed in a way where it still controls, quote, the depth of the Gaza Strip. It's unclear if Hamas will agree to those terms. Meanwhile, Palestinians in Gaza are praying the fighting will end. The Toronto Blue Jays have won their first postseason victory in nine years, a stunning 10-to-1 win over the New York Yankees in the first game of the American League Division series. Jamie Strachan was there. Coming into this series, it was the New York Yankees who hit the most home runs in baseball, but it was the hometown Blue Jays who flexed their offensive muscles. Starting point is 00:02:31 James Josh and Sydney, Cs, Toronto. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is continuing military-style raids in Chicago. This week they used a black-hop helicopter to land on the roof of an apartment building, repelled down the outside, broke down doors, and detained people regardless of their immigration status. Steve Utterman has more. ICE officials in Chicago are continuing the most... brazen immigration crackdown so far. It's called Operation Midway Blitz. In recent days, there have been numerous raids. In one, an apartment building was the target. Numerous people
Starting point is 00:03:07 were taken into custody, including this black woman born in the U.S., with no immigration issue. I've never had a gun put in my face. They ask my name and my date of burb. She was still handcuffed, taken away, and held for several hours before being released. Children were also detained. This man was there. We're under siege. We're being invaded by our own military. The governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, calls it an attack on Americans. People of Illinois, we need your help. Get out your cell phones. Record and narrate what you see. The Department of Homeland Security defends the actions. It says dozens of people in the U.S. illegally have been taken into custody during the raids. Steve Futterman, CBC News, Los Angeles. Starting point is 00:03:54 researchers have found a way to potentially make organ donation more accessible. Right now, blood type is one of the biggest barriers in kidney transplantation, but in the first human test conducted at the UBC, researchers created a kidney with enzymes that removed those blood type markers. Professor Emeritus Stephen Withers co-led the enzyme development. It should increase the chances of a match, which will also increase the usage of organs, because there are many donated organs that never get used because they don't find a suitable match. Withers adds this could also save money for the health care system by potentially reducing the number of people on dialysis therapy.
Starting point is 00:04:32 The calendar says October, but it doesn't feel like it in Ontario, with highs this weekend between 27 and 30 degrees. Environment Canada says it's possible record highs could be set in Toronto and Ottawa. Temperatures are forecast to fall to autumn levels by Tuesday. That is your world this hour for CBS. News.
