All right. It is October. It is officially spooky season, which is great timing because there is a new Canadian thriller series out. It's called Wayward, and I think we should be talking about it. My name is Alameen Abdu Mahmoud and I love pop culture. And this week on my podcast, Commotion, I called up some of my favorite critics to get into the show about a school for troubled teens and then things start to go wrong. It is just wonderful. And it's bringing something new and interesting to the thriller genre. For that episode and a whole lot more, you can find and follow Commotion with Alameen Abduhne.
on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.

Mark Carney is back in Washington today.
He's expected to have a working dinner with Vice President J.D. Vance.
It follows a second Oval Office meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
As Tom Perry reports, the meeting was friendly, but did not lead to any breakthrough on tariffs.
I think he's a great prime minister.
I mean, Donald Trump has made life.
miserable for some leaders who've sat down in his evermore gold-adorned Oval Office,
berating and belittling them in front of the cameras, but not Mark Carney.
I can tell you this because I deal with lots of leaders all over the world. He's a world-class
leader. He's a...
Kearney sat mostly silent as Trump fielded questions from reporters, but tried to steer the
conversation back to the topic he came here to discuss, getting the U.S. to lift its tariffs
on Canadian steel, aluminum, autos, and lumber.
We are the second largest trading partner of the United States.
We do a lot of trade going across the border where we're cooperating.
In the end, the two sides agreed to keep talking on key areas like steel, aluminum, and energy
for all Trump's kind words.
U.S. tariffs for now remain in place.

mischief back in April. Nicole Williams has more on their sentencing.
It's a far cry from the sentences Crown attorneys were asking for. They argued freedom
convoy leaders Tamara Leach and Chris Barber should face significant jail time for their part
in the 2022 protests. It saw truckers from across the country occupy the nation's capital for three
weeks in a protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandates at the time. Barber and Leach were both found
guilty of mischief in court six months ago.
Barbara also convicted for counseling others to disobey a court order.
The judge in this case has now sentenced Barbara to a year of house arrest with conditions
and six months of probation.
As for Leach, she's also received a year of house arrest, followed by three and a half months
of probation.
Both have been ordered to also do 100 hours of community service.
A victory for the dozens of people who showed up in support of Barbara and Leach.

Police in Longay, Quebec, have released video they hope will locate the parents of an abandoned baby.
On Sunday, the infant was found on the front step of a residence.
The grainy video shows a person holding the baby while walking on the sidewalk.
Police say they don't know if that person is one of the parents.
They are urging the parents or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
The families of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas say the nightmare won't end until all of them are home.
Memorials across Israel marked two years since Hamas militants killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.
And nearly 50 of them are believed to remain in Gaza today.
Sasha Petritsch reports.
Sentimental songs fill hostage square in Tel Aviv, the site of celebrations and heartbreak for two years.
Tonight, the crowd is hopeful as hostage families and supporters watch talks in Egypt nervously.
Gil Dickman has seen it before when his cousin was almost released in earlier negotiations.
Talks failed and she was murdered.
So we know what it means to feel so, so close to her getting back and then losing her forever.
We can still lose this.
Across Israel, thousands gather to remember October 7th, but there are protests too.
In Jerusalem, they read hostage names in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's resident.
Demanding a deal to end the war, says Joseph Avi Engel.
All of us are trying to do something that they will come back.
Hoping they won't have much longer to wait.
