Too many students are packed into overcrowded classrooms in Ontario schools,
and it's hurting their ability to learn.
But instead of helping our kids,
the Ford government is playing politics,
taking over school boards and silencing local voices.
It shouldn't be this way.
Tell the Ford government to get serious about tackling overcrowded classrooms
because smaller classes would make a big difference for our kids.

A message from the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.
From CBC News, the world this hour.
I'm Neil Hurland.
Mark Carney was back in Washington.
He had a working dinner tonight with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
It follows a second Oval Office meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump earlier on Tuesday.
As Tom Perry reports, the meeting was friendly but did not lead to any breakthrough on tariffs.
I think he's a great prime minister.
Donald Trump has made life miserable for some leaders who've sat down in his ever more gold-adorned Oval Office,
berating and belittling them in front of the cameras, but not Mark Carney.
I can tell you this because I deal with lots of leaders all over the world.
He's a world-class leader.
Kearney sat mostly silent as Trump fielded questions from reporters,
but tried to steer the conversation back to the topic he came here to discuss,
getting the U.S. to lift its tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum.
autos and lumber. We are the second largest trading partner of the United States. We do a lot of
trade going across the border where we're cooperating. In the end, the two sides agreed to
keep talking on key areas like steel, aluminum, and energy for all Trump's kind words. U.S.
tariffs for now remain in place. Tom Harry, CBC News, Washington.
Across Israel, there were solemn memorials Tuesday marking the second anniversary of the October
7th attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Nearly 1,200 people were killed in Israel.
251 were taken hostage into Gaza. Paul Hunter reports.
It is a sobering place. In a grassy field, row after row of placards on metal posts with
flowers and handwritten notes with the smiling faces of those killed on or near this spot
precisely two years ago. It is the memorial at the site of the Nova Music Festival in southern Israel.
Two years later, and artillery fire not far from the Nova Memorial is a near constant reminder.
Israel's response to the attacks, its brutal war on Hamas in Gaza itself continues on.
Among the placards at the Nova Memorial, those still in captivity,
Lied Vitman, came to see the placard for the daughter of a good friend.
It's like you leaving it again. It's horrific times.
All of it. Two years later, leaving so many in this country still,
shaken still mourning. Paul Hunter, CBC News, at the site of the Nova Music Festival in southern
Israel. Two of the leaders of the truck convoy that took over downtown Ottawa in the winter of
2022 have received conditional sentences. Both Chris Barber and Tamara Leach were found guilty of
mischief. Defense lawyer Lawrence Greenspont says both Leach and Barber are considering appealing
their convictions. In Canada, constitutionally protected freedom of speech, which encourages
peaceful assembly must prevail over the rights of property owners.
On Tuesday, both were sentenced to 12 months of house arrest,
followed by six months of curfew.
Well, the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays tonight 9-6
in game three of the American League Division Series.
That means the best of five series continues.
The CBC's Thomas Dagler reports from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
Well, early on, it looked like the Jays were well on their way
to crushing the Yankees once again.
as they did twice in Toronto, this time in enemy territory here in the Bronx.
Red Hot Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened scoring in the first inning with a two-run home run.
His third home run in three postseason games.
The Yankees responded with their own superstar, Aaron Judge, hitting a two-run home run,
tying things up, six runs apiece.
Jazz Chishin Jr., then hitting another home run, a solo shot for the Yankees.
Nine to six, the final, the first victory for the Yankees in this American League.
Division Series. Both teams will be back for game four. The Jays will once again try to put this
series to an end and move on to the American League Championship Series. The Yankees will hope to
tie things up and end the series in five in Toronto on Friday. Again, game four goes Wednesday night.
Thomas Dagg, CBC News, New York. And that is your world this hour. For CBC News, I'm Neil Hurland.
Thank you.
