Too many students are packed into overcrowded classrooms in Ontario schools,
and it's hurting their ability to learn.
But instead of helping our kids, the Ford government is playing politics,
taking over school boards and silencing local voices.
It shouldn't be this way.
Tell the Ford government to get serious about tackling overcrowded classrooms
because smaller classes would make a big difference for our kids.

A message from the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.
From CBC News, the world this hour, I'm Neil Hurland.
U.S. President Donald Trump says Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas have agreed to his peace plan.
After three days of talks in Egypt, Hamas is supposed to release all 20 living hostages in the coming days,
while the Israeli military will begin a withdrawal of troops from Gaza after more than two years of war.
Katie Simpson has more from Washington.
Peace for the Middle East.
It's a beautiful phrase, and we hope it's going to come true.
U.S. President Donald Trump suggested Middle East peace talks were close to a breakthrough
as he arrived for an unrelated roundtable event at the White House late Wednesday afternoon,
an event that would be unexpectedly interrupted by Trump's Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
Anything we should know about the Middle East?
Rubio took a seat near Trump and scribbled an urgent message on a piece of paper.
I was just given a note by the Secretary of State saying that we're very close to a deal in the Middle East and they'll get a need be pretty quickly.
Two hours later, Trump would announce a deal on social media saying Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of the peace plan.
All of the hostages will be released very soon, he wrote, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed-upon line.
Israel and Hamas both quickly confirmed the statement,
marking a new breakthrough moment, sparking hope this may be a significant step
toward bringing this conflict to an end.

And we're getting reaction to news of this breakthrough deal to end the war in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says this is a diplomatic success
and a national and moral victory for the state of Israel.
Meantime, the father of a hostage is celebrating.
President Trump, thank you very much.
For Palestinians, there is fresh hope of establishing a new state and a chance to rebuild.
Omar, Omar lives in Victoria, BC, and has family in Gaza.
I'm just extremely happy that at least there is a stopping for all the madness of killing people in the Gaza Strip.
My family has finally got the chance to breathe.
I got the chance finally to at least breathe.
Prime Minister Mark Carney released a statement last night.
he said, I am relieved that the hostages will soon be reunited with their families after years of
intense suffering, peace finally feels attainable. Conservative leader Pierre Paliab says,
Congratulations to President Trump on negotiating a peaceful end to the Israel Hamas War,
a monumental achievement towards generational peace. Danny Breen has been re-elected as mayor of St. John's
Newfoundland for a third term after winning a municipal election list.
last night. But voter turnout was exceptionally low. Breen blames it on the fact a provincial
election is being held next Tuesday. It was a disappointing turnout, but giving all the things
that have happened, having the provincial election and overlapping with it. I found even campaigning
that there was not much interest being shown in the issues. And finally, the Toronto Blue Jays are
headed to the American League Championship Series. Canada's only Major League Baseball team
beat the New York Yankees last night to advance to the next playoff round. The CBC's Thomas
Dagla has more from Yankee Stadium. Jeff Hoffman strikes out Cody Bellinger, and the Blue Jays have done it.
The Blue Jays came out swinging, racking up a dozen hits and outscoring the Yankees 5 to 2. New York
pundits predicted the Bronx bombers would cruise to the World Series, but it took Toronto four
games in the best of five American League Division Series to eliminate their rivals, leaving Yankees
fans stunned. Jay's slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cashed in a run after hitting three homers in
three games this series. Next up for Toronto, hosting either the Seattle Mariners or Detroit Tigers in
game one of the next round on Sunday. It's the Jay's first deep postseason run since 2016,
with a trip to the World Series now only four wins away. Thomas Daggle, CBC News, New York.
And that is your world this hour. For CBC News, I'm Neil Hurland.
Thank you.
