and it's hurting their ability to learn.
But instead of helping our kids,
the Ford government is playing politics,
taking over school boards and silencing local voices.

as israel and hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace plan it includes a pullback of

It's the middle of the night, but also it's incredibly quiet from the skies.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has welcomed the announcement
that Israel and Hamas have reached the first phase of a ceasefire deal,
saying he hopes the efforts serve as a prelude to achieving a sustainable political solution.

Meanwhile, throughout Israel,
That's a hostage square in Tel Aviv as news broke regarding the peace agreement.
The Israeli government is meeting today to formally vote on the deal.
If it is approved, as expected, a ceasefire will go into effect immediately.
And the Israeli military says it has already started preparations to, quote, adjust its deployment lines.
The agreement Israel and Hamas have been working on is a 20-point peace plan proposed by the
United States. Here's U.S. President Donald Trump speaking last night to Fox News.
The whole world came together, to be honest, so many countries that you wouldn't have even
thought of it. They came together. The world has come together around this deal. And that's
something I would say that without that wouldn't happen. Prime Minister Mark Carney is among
the world leaders welcoming the agreement in a post on social media. Carney says peace feels
attainable after years of intense suffering. Britain's Prime Minister,
Kier Starrmer is calling it a moment of profound relief.
EU officials are calling the agreement a major diplomatic accomplishment.
And UN's Antonio Gutierish is promising to immediately step up relief efforts for the people of Gaza.
Now to the government employees strike in British Columbia.
It is into its sixth week now with service delays being felt right across the province.
Caroline Bargut has more.
One day longer, one day stronger.
25,000 out of 34,000 government employees are walking the picket line in British Columbia.
It's the largest civil service strike in this province.
They are corrections officers, social workers, administrative staff, and now PC liquor and cannabis employees.
Paul Finch is the president of the British Columbia General Employees Union.
He says wages are the main issue.
The government's last offer was 2% per year.
offer was 4% per year. We're willing to go back to the table to negotiate and find
a common ground government isn't. Negotiations between the province and the union began in January
but broke off in July. Workers went on strike on September 2nd. Talks resumed at the end of the
month but only lasted for four days before they broke off again. At this point, it's unclear how long
the strike will last. Caroline Bargut, CBC News, Vancouver. It's good to be a Blue Jays fan this
morning. And the Blue Jays have done it. They have
have knocked off the New York Yankees. They have won their first playoff series since 2016.
Lots of Jay's winning their divisional playoff series last night against the New York Yankees,
five to the final score, with Toronto taking the best of five, three games to one.
Blue Jays now advance to face either Seattle or Detroit in the American League Championship series.
That gets underway on Sunday in Toronto.
