Starting point is 00:01:07 And the IDF will then redeploy, which will lead to the military controlling and holding about 53% of the Gaza Strip. At the United Nations, Secretary General Antonio Gutierish is applauding the agreement, but says it's only the start. But to turn this is fire into real progress. We need more than the silence of the guns. We need full, safe and sustained access. for humanitarian workers, the removal of red tape and impediments, and the rebuilding of shattered infrastructure. As for Prime Minister Mark Carney. The next 48 hours are crucial.
Starting point is 00:01:43 We urge the parties, particularly Hamas, to follow through, release all the hostages, including the deceased hostages. That's Carney speaking this morning on Parliament Hill. The ceasefire agreement is part of a larger 20-point plan, tabled by the United States. There are still issues left to finalize, and they include, among others, details on how Hamas will disarm
Starting point is 00:02:06 and who will govern Gaza. The Quebec government is taking another step toward defining Quebec as a distinct nation. Premier Francois Lago has tabled a bill to create a constitution for the province. Sarah Levitt has more. A project of law for that the Quebec Quebec's so done, finally,

Quebec Premier Francoe Legault receiving a standing ovation from his party inside the National Assembly, announcing the tabling of a bill that would create an official constitution for the province. It's meant to protect Quebec's identity, rights, and culture.
Starting point is 00:02:43 All parties agree a constitution is needed, but those in the opposition say the leading party is trying to force their version through too quickly. Pablo Rodriguez is the leader of the Quebec liberal. rules. We should have in our hands a document that went through through consultations that included different segments of society, including First Nations, discussions with different parties. The party Quebecois says this constitution is meaningless as long as Quebec is a part of

Teneal Johnson is a social worker and city councillor in Campbell River, B.C. Johnson joins union leader Rob Ashton, Alberta MP Heather McPherson, and activist Avi Lewis as the four candidates now in the race. The NDP selects its next leader at a convention in Winnipeg in March. The Toronto Blue Jays are on their way to the American League Championship Series. Starting point is 00:04:10 The Jays will face either Seattle or Detroit With Game One set for Sunday in Toronto A Hungarian novelist has won this year's Nobel Prize for literature Laszlo Krasna Horkei, for his compelling and visionary over that in the midst of apocalyptic terror reaffirms the power of art. That's a Nobel committee honoring Laslo Kraschna Horkay. That 71-year-old critically acclaimed writer is known for his postmodern style and for often exploring dystopian themes. The Nobel honors continue tomorrow with the awarding of the Peace Prize. And that is the world this hour.
