that's according to prime minister benjamin nittiahoo's office both sides have now signed on to the first phase
a ceasefire with the release of all hostages and a surge in desperately needed aid is expected to come next
margaret evans reports in israel's hostage square which has cradled the hopes of
families demanding the return of their loved ones for two years now. The tears on hand were
those of joy. The initial agreement reached is predicated on all Israeli troops withdrawing to an
agreed line, but still well inside Gaza, and all 20 Israeli living hostages being released
within 72 hours of the start of a ceasefire. But it's a blueprint of broad strokes
with many key details yet to be filled in on the most intractable of issues.
including future governance in Gaza and the role of the Palestinian Authority.
Jonathan Reinhold is a political scientist at Bariland University.
The biggest challenge will be getting Hamas to disarm,
because without that, we're unlikely to see Israel withdraw fully.
The initial hurdle, though, is getting through to the other side of this first phase.

Prime Minister Mark Carney has called it a day for optimism,
saying he spoke with the Trump administration during his visit to Washington
about Canada's role in the region post-seas fire.
Carney says the country is ready to step in with aid.
Foreign Affairs Minister Nidanaan said Canada has already put some $340 million
on the table for aid in Gaza.
She also said that it's still under discussion
whether Canada will participate in a proposed transnational force
to keep the peace in Gaza.
New York Attorney General Latita James has been indicted on fraud charges.
The latest Democrat in and perceived Trump vote,
to be prosecuted by his Justice Department.

As Attorney General, she filed a number of cases against Trump,
including winning a conviction in a case that accused him
of defrauding banks by dramatically overstating the value of his real estate holdings.
In a message posts on an ex, James said she has done nothing wrong.
These charges are baseless, and the president's own public statements make clear
that his only goal is political retribution.
The president's actions are a great.
violation of our constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both
parties. James vowed to aggressively fight the charges. New information has allowed Edmonton
Police narrowed down the search area for missing indigenous team. Four-year-old Samuel Bird
disappeared in June. Police believe he is dead as a result of a criminal act and that his body
was dumped in a rural area. Sam Sampson has the latest. We're looking for still a needle and a
smaller haystock. Edmonton police detective Jared Bueller stands near a busy highway about
160 kilometers west of Edmonton. This area of bush and farmland is where police believe the body
of 14-year-old Samuel Bird will be found. Bird has been missing since June 1st. Earlier this month,
police said they were searching a geographic area of thousands of square kilometers, but within the
past 24 hours, they received new information that led them here. Bueller says they're keeping the
exact location under wraps to prevent the public from doing their own searches.

Police say they have identified people of interest, but as of yet, no charges have been laid.

Belgium police say they thwarted a terrorist plot aimed at the country's politicians,
including the prime minister.
Federal prosecutors say after searching the homes of three suspects,
Investigators discovered a homemade explosive,
and there were indications the group planned to use a drone as part of their attack.
Two men have been arrested.
A third suspect was detained and later released.
