from cbc news the world this hour i'm claude fagg in gaza this morning as the ceasefire holds
eight deliveries are being stepped up with more trucks crossing into the territory
about 600 trucks a day are expected to bring much needed food to starving palestinians
but unishev says that help isn't arriving fast enough the agency says israel needs to
open up more entry points to allow more shipments. That aid is rolling in as part of the first phase
of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. And as that aid rolls in, the diplomacy rolls on with a summit
set for tomorrow in Cairo to work out the next phase of the Gaza peace deal. Julia Chapman
reports from London. Well, it's being billed as a signing ceremony, but the only person putting
pen to paper looks to be Donald Trump himself. Hamas is not attending. Israel is not
expected to attend either, but there will be around 20 world leaders in attendance, including
British Prime Minister Kirstarmer. It's not clear yet whether Mark Carney will be there,
but Canada has been invited. And effectively, they're looking at what comes next. Phase two,
international security forces who will be helping maintain security in Gaza at the end of this war,
whether Hamas is going to disarm what a process of demilitarization looks like. And really,
essentially the future governance of Gaza.
This is central to the long-term peace and stability of this region.
The peace plan envisages a transitional government
of Palestinian technocrats overseen by an international board of peace,
and the leaders are going to be working out what that might look like.

The Capsat military unit says,
says it is taking command of the country's armed forces, an army officer making the announcement
surrounded by soldiers. They joined anti-government protests that have plunged the country into
crisis for weeks. Today, President Andri Rajolina said that he is calling it an illegal and
forceful attempt to seize power. Protest first broke out late last month over water and
electricity shortages, but they've expanded to include calls for a complete overhaul of the government.
are open this morning in the African nation of Cameroon, and the world's oldest leader
appears poised for re-election. Paul Bia is 92, and this would be his eighth presidential
campaign. He first took office in 1982. Analyst say that Bia is the clear favorite, partly
due to a fractured opposition. There are 11 candidates. If Bia wins and serves a full
seven-year term, he'll be 99 when it's done. Well, for the first time since 2016,
The American League Championship Series will be played in Toronto.
Oh, my God, it's amazing.
Like, we went from a team from last year being last place to, like, now, like, first.
I think we're a really, really strong team this year, so I'm, I think we can do it.
Let's go, Blue Jay!
Canada's baseball team is getting set to host the Seattle Mariners tonight.
It's game one of the best of seven series.
Jay's manager, John Snyder, was asked about his advice to his players heading into the game.
Do what you're good at.
Be you.
This game and this spot comes with a lot of scrutiny and pressure and all that kind of stuff.
But I think as long as you're being who you are, whether it's myself, staff, or the players, you're going to be just fine.
The winner of the series will head to the World Series.
Tonight's game gets underway shortly just after 8 o'clock Eastern with Kevin Gosman starting for the Jays.
And that is your world this hour.
For CBC News, I'm Claude Fagg.
Thank you.
