Preparations are now in place for what Israelis have waited to see for two years.
We're expecting sometime in the next few hours, the last living hostages kidnapped by the Palestinian militant group Hamas will be free.
As part of a ceasefire deal, Israel will release some Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is on route to Israel tonight,
where he will meet some of the hostages and address the Israeli parliament.
The CBC's Breyer Stewart is in Jerusalem.
After being held hostage in Gaza for more than two years,
20 Israeli hostages will be turned to their families in the coming hours,
and Israel will release 2,000 Palestinians who've been imprisoned.
As part of the ceasefire agreement,
600 aid trucks are supposed to enter Gaza every day.
but far fewer shipments are currently coming in.
And in Han Yunus, some of the trucks that entered Gaza today
were swarmed by desperate crowds.
They have to find a solution for us, said Salome Barbach.
The trucks have to be secured.
There have been reports of clashes between Hamas and a clan in Gaza City,
which left several people dead.
Part of the peace framework calls for an international stabilization force
to immediately deploy to Gaza.
But that's not in place yet.
Breyer-Stewart, CBC News, Jerusalem.
After visiting Israel, U.S. President Donald Trump
will convene an international peace summit in Egypt.
Prime Minister Mark Carney will attend.
The CBC's Tom Parry is in Cairo tonight.
This is really something of a victory lap for Donald Trump.
He's marking how he and his team,
and also their international partners like Turkey and Qatar,
managed to finally get Israel and Hamas
to agree to a ceasefire deal to end the violence in Gaza
and to free the Israeli hostages.
Trump's going to land in Israel on Monday morning.
He's supposed to meet with hostages and meet with their families.
He's supposed to speak to the Knesset.
That's Israel's legislature.
And after that, he's going to fly to Charmel Sheikh,
where he's going to co-host, along with Egypt's president,
this meeting of international leaders
talking about maintaining the ceasefire
and seeking a more lasting peace.
Now, Britain's Prime Minister, Kier Starrmer,
will be there, French President Emmanuel Macron, and we've heard that Prime Minister Mark Carney
will also be taking part. So an important meeting, though I should point out, it's not a very
long one. Trump is really only supposed to be in the region a few hours before he flies home to
the U.S. Tom Perry, CBC News, Cairo.
Meant, U.S. President Donald Trump is downplaying his latest trade war with China. The trade
battle between the world's two biggest economies has implications for the entire world, in particular
for global supply chains. Chris Brown reports from Taiwan.
In a statement that aired on China's state broadcaster Sunday, its Commerce Ministry
blasted the United States for intensifying a superpower trade war. Global supply chains
recoiled and stock markets tumbled after China imposed export controls on rare earth minerals
last Thursday.
President Donald Trump responded with a 100% tariff on Chinese goods.
starting November 1st. China produces 90% of the world's rare earth minerals and magnets.
They're used to make everything from electric vehicles to aircraft engines. But the U.S. makes
even more products that China also needs, including high-tech components. There had been an uneasy
truce between the superpowers over trade and cautious hope that a deal might emerge from a meeting
between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping later this month. Trump has raised doubts.
That meeting will now go ahead. Chris Brown, CBC News, Taipei.
The Toronto Blue Jays are playing their first game against the Seattle Mariners right now
as the American League Championship Series begins in Toronto tonight.
Right now, Seattle is ahead to 1 at the top of the seventh inning.
If the Jays beat the Mariners over the next seven games, they're headed to the World Series.
And that is your world this hour.
For CBC News, I'm Neil Hurland.
Thank you.
