Starting point is 00:00:56 You're listening to a live audio feed from Khan Yunus inside Gaza. You can see a group of masked, armed men and a series of vans and minibuses. Hamas is about to release some of the Israeli hostages as part of a ceasefire deal with Israel, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump. A convoy of International Red Cross ambulances is also there, ready to pick up the hostages. On the Israeli side, ambulances and medevac helicopters are on standby to take the most gravely ill hostages to hospital. Meantime, buses of Palestinian prisoners are boarding vehicles in Israel to take them back to the Palestinian territories. Some were convicted of terror offenses and crimes. Others were detained without trial during the Gaza war.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Hamas has published a list of more than 1900 Palestinian prisoners that it says will be released. The ceasefire began Friday at noon, ending a war that began when Hamas attacked Southern Israel on October 7, 2023. U.S. President Donald Trump is on route to Israel right now. He'll land in about one hour from now, and he's expected to speak in the Israeli parliament that Knesset. Meantime, Prime Minister Mark Carney is on his way to Egypt right now. He'll attend a special summit chaired by President Trump and the Egyptian president. They're supposed to discuss ending the war in Gaza, but neither Israel nor Hamas will be there. CBC News will have full coverage Monday of the events in Israel, Gaza, and Egypt, including Prime Minister Mark Carney's trip. Ottawa is expected to announce its second list of major nation-building infrastructure projects next month.
Starting point is 00:02:42 One of the potential projects is the $3 billion Kivolik Hydrofiberlink. It would start in Manitoba and connect Western Nunavut. to electric grids and high-speed internet. Karen Pauls has more. This project is so important to us. Huno Tatuni heads the Kiva Lik Inuit Association. He's also on the board of Newkik, the Inuit-run Corporation, in charge of the project.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Nunavut imports all of its fuel to power diesel generators, the main electricity source for isolated communities. The proposed hydrofiber link would stretch 1,200 kilometers, connecting Manitoba Hydro's power grid to five western Nunavut communities and a gold mine. So what an amazing time to be a Canadian. The premiers of Manitoba and Nunavut have agreed to work together on the project. The mayor of Rankin Inlet, Harry Totangi, sees the benefits.

George Springer crushed the first ball thrown to him, hitting it out of the park as the Blue Jays took an early lead. The Mariners switch-hitting star catcher Cal Raleigh responded with a solo shot of his own. And Seattle never looked back,
Starting point is 00:04:19 taking game one of the American League Championship Series 3-1. The Jays didn't appear like the same team that cruised past the Yankees in the last round. Toronto's bats going cold, managing only two hits through nine innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who caught fire in the previous series, couldn't manage a single hit in four plate appearances. Next, the Jays will send rookie pitching sensation Trey Yassavage to the mound when they host Seattle for game two of their best of seven Monday evening. Dagg at CBC News, Toronto.
