from cbc news the world this hour i'm mike miles a grand jury has indicted u.s president donald
trump's former national security adviser john bolton worked in the first trump administration but
later became a vocal critic he's accused of mishandling classified documents chris reyes has the
latest according to court records these charges have to do with the transmission of national defense
information, retention of national defense information, and as you said, mishandling of classified
information. Just to give you some background, back in August, the FBI searched Bolton's
Maryland home and Washington office. Agents said that they seized documents marked classified,
confidential, and secret. Remember, back in 2023, President Trump was charged under this same
law for allegedly keeping and refusing to return classified national defense documents found at
Maralago. Bolton's lawyers said that the seized documents were cleared in pre-publication reviews,
and many were decades old. We're still waiting on official reaction from Bolton's camp and the Democrats.
The CBC's Chris Reyes reporting from New York. Conservative leader Pierre Polyev's leveled serious
accusations against the RCMP, accusing the force of covering up for former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Today, the top mount he responded.
Catherine Tunney tells us what he said.
The leadership of the RCMP is frankly just despicable
when it comes to enforcing laws against the liberal government.
Conservative leader Pierre Paliyev recently took aim at the RCMP's independence,
accusing the national police force of covering up for the liberal government.
In an interview recently posted on YouTube,
Pauliev says the RCMP failed to do its job,
investigating former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,
when he violated the Conn the Connment of interest act
in both the Aga Khan and S&C Lavalant Affairs.
These would normally have led to criminal charges,
but, of course, the RC&P covered it all up.
Don't take any orders from any political individual.
RCMP Commissioner Mike Duane fired back Thursday saying
there was no political interference
and invited Polyev to sit down with RCMP senior management.

Edmonton police say they've located the remains of a missing teen
in a rural area outside of town.
And they've arrested and charged one man in the murder of 14-year-old Samuel Bird.
He disappeared in early June after he left his home to visit a friend.
A 38-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder.
One of five former world junior hockey players found not guilty of sexual assault is returning to the NHL.
With the Las Vegas Golden Knights announcing Carter Hart will be joining their team.
Megan Fitzpatrick reports.
After nearly two years off NHL ice, goaltender Carter Hart is being welcomed back in
to the league, joining the Las Vegas Golden Knights. A brief statement from the team said it's
aligned with the reinstatement process set by the NHL and its Players Association, and that it
expects their players to meet their team's standards. Hart, Dylan Dubay, Michael McLeod, and Calfoot
were all playing in the NHL at the time they were charged by police in London, Ontario in 2024.
Alex Formanton was playing in a Swiss league. Hart took a leave of absence from the Philadelphia
of flyers and his contract was not renewed. All five players were found not guilty of sexual
assault after a lengthy and at times dramatic trial that concluded in July. Hart testified in his own
defense. Last month, the NHL announced that the acquitted players would be allowed to sign with
teams as of October 15th and hit the ice on December 1st. Megan Fitzpatrick, CBC News, Toronto.
Donald Trump says he'll have another meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to try and resolve
the war in Ukraine. The U.S. President says talks will happen in Hungary, but did not mention when.
His announcement comes after a lengthy phone call, both sides are calling productive. Trump had expressed
frustration with Putin over Russia's ongoing attacks in Ukraine, despite Washington's attempts
at diplomacy. He's currently considering Ukraine's request for American long-range missiles.
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is meeting Trump in the White House tomorrow.
And that is The World This Hour.
