Jerusalem. A ship caught fire in the Gulf of Aden off Yemen after being struck by a
projectile. That's according to British military. The incident occurred in the critical
Red Sea shipping corridor where Houthi rebels are attacking vessels. Maritime firms report
the crew is preparing to abandon ship and a search and rescue operation is underway for the
tanker. The rebels have not yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Two people have been killed
and over 100 injured today at a memorial service for Kenyan opposition leader Rayla Odinga.
Officers struggle to restrain the surging crowd in Western Kenya, pushing and even slapping
some mourners in an effort to control the chaos. Thousands of mourners attended the state
funeral of the Kenyan political icon. Odinga was a respected and significant figure in Kenya.
He's credited with steering the country towards becoming a multi-part
Party democracy. Italy is bracing for a potential shock to one of its most iconic exports,
pasta. In less than a month, the United States is planning to impose massive tariffs on several
Italian pasta brands. And economists are warning that the fallout could ripple far beyond the
dinner table. Megan Williams has more from Rome. It's easy to cook low cost. Now it's facing a
serious threat. Last month, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced new tariffs of almost 92%
on 13 Italian pasta brands set to go into effect January 1st. The U.S. claims Italian pasta
producers are dumping, that is, selling pasta below market value in the U.S. to gain market share.
Italian agriculture minister Francesco Lobrigida called the move a hyper-protectionist measure
against Italian producers. If applied, these tariffs will be on top.
of the 15% already in place for all EU exports to the U.S., pushing the total duty on pasta to
107%. Pasta makes up nearly 20% of Italian exports to the states, putting more than a billion
dollars' worth of exports at risk. Several Italian companies are challenging the tariffs legally
and appealing to the EU for help. Megan Williams, CBC News, Rome.
The Toronto Blue Jays dropped game five of their American League Championship series last
night in Seattle. The Mariners played at five runs in the eighth inning to beat the J6-2.
Here's manager John Schneider. I trust every single guy on this roster. Today it didn't work out,
but we've won two games in a row a whole lot this year. The series shifts back to Toronto for game
six tomorrow night. In the NLCS, the Los Angeles Dodgers have advanced to the World Series
after beating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 in a four-game sweep. And that is your world this hour.
