Starting point is 00:00:40 late thursday night donald trump announced that all trade negotiations with canada have been terminated ashley burke has the story this tv ad by ontario's government at the center of donald trump's dramatic late-night post the president writing it's the reason why he's officially called off trade talk with Canada. High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries. Premier Doug Ford recently launched a $75 million anti-tariff ad campaign in the U.S. This ad uses former U.S. President Ronald Reagan's famous radio address from 1987. Market shrink and collapse. The Ronald Reagan Foundation claims the ad misrepresents his address and says Ontario didn't have permission to use it. Trump posted on true social that tariffs are also important to his economy, and based on what he called egregious behavior, the trade negotiations

Meantime, Ottawa is pushing back on two American automakers by limiting the number of vehicles they can import into Canada tariff-free. Stalantis announced it was moving production out of Ontario to the U.S., and General Motors is ending production of electric vans. The governments are looking to compel the automakers to continue production in Canada. It's official. After three weeks off the job, Alberta teachers are being forced back to work.
Starting point is 00:02:05 The provincial government plans a table of bill Monday, which would make the 51,000 teachers who walked off the job on October 6th get back to the classroom. Sam Samson is more on how teachers and students are preparing for a rush re-entry back to school. Defiance on Alberta's legislative grounds from thousands of educators, parents, and students couldn't stop the provincial government's decision. Teachers will be forced back to class. And legislating us back to work does not solve the problems. Laura Warden is a grade five teacher from Calgary. For her and others, those problems include needing more staff to help students with complex needs and to majorly lower classroom sizes.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's government will table the bill Monday, even speeding up legislative debate rules to get it through as fast as possible. When you get to a point where irreparable harm is being caused to kids, that's where we have to draw a line. We want more! Teachers may be back soon, but it's unclear when students will return. The Alberta Teachers Association says it needs to see the back-to-work legislation before it directs its members on its next move.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Sam Sampson, CBC News, Edmonton. The Toronto Blue Jays are heading back to the World Series for the first time in 32 years. The team managed to win back-to-back championships in 92 and 93, but now they face the rainy champions, the L.A. Dodgers, in the quest for a third title. Jamie Strachan has more. I'm just thankful and humbled. Toronto Blue Jay's manager, John Schneider, says it's natural for his team to be feeling some nerves ahead of game one of the World Series, the first in Canada since 1993.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Even though the Blue Jays won more games than the Los Angeles Dodgers, it's Toronto who are the underdogs. I think the one thing we cannot do is look over there and say that is Goliath. The team's magical, unexpected run to the World Series has fans delirious. The J's shop at the Rogers Center barely able to keep series-related items in stock. We're not going to know the next time the G's are going to make it, right? Players like Davis Schneider and Addison Barger are embracing what could be a once-in-a-career opportunity. It's great to have a whole country kind of behind you. You don't know how many times you'll make it to the World Series in your life.

And the lawyer for Chaunzee Billups says the former Toronto Raptor and suspended Portland Trailblazers head coach will fight back against illegal gambling allegations after he was indicted on Thursday.
