The offending ad features highlights of a 1987 speech by U.S. President Ronald Reagan, which makes the case against tariffs. After a complaint by Reagan's Presidential Foundation that
Starting point is 00:01:13 Ontario did not get permission to use the audio and video, Donald Trump made his stunning announcement. Writing on social media, in all caps, all trade negotiations with Canada are hereby terminated. He called the ad fraudulent and fake. in Canada of running the spot as a way to influence the U.S. Supreme Court, ahead of a hearing next month, that will determine whether most of Trump's tariffs are legal. Because of tariffs, the money pouring into our country, the plants that are opening. Ontario spent $75 million to run the ad on major American broadcasters. This comes at a pivotal moment in trade talks, a time when Canada had thought progress was being

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mark Carney has yet to directly comment on Trump's latest move. Carney will only say that his government can only focus on issues that it can control. Carney, incidentally, is leaving this hour on his first trip to Asia since taking office. Over nine days, Carney will be making stops in Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea, and will be on hand for two multinational summits that President Trump is also expected to attend. The Prime Minister's trip is part of his government's effort to build strong
Starting point is 00:02:29 trade and diplomatic ties with a region that is feeling increasingly squeezed between the United States and China. As expected, the Alberta government says it will be tabling back-to-work legislation next week to force the province's 51,000 striking teachers to return to the classroom. Samson reports. Defiance on Alberta's legislative grounds from thousands of educators, parents, and students couldn't stop the provincial government's decision. Teachers will forced back to class. And legislating us back to work does not solve the problems. Laura Warden is a grade five teacher from Calgary. For her and others, those problems include needing more staff to help students with complex needs and two majorly lower classroom sizes.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Alberta Premier Daniel Smith's government will table the bill Monday, even speeding up legislative debate rules to get it through as fast as possible. When you get to a point where irreparable harm is being caused to kids, that's where we have to draw a line. Teachers may be back soon, but it's unclear when students will return. The Alberta Teachers Association says it needs to see the back-to-work legislation before it directs its members on its next move. Sam Sampson, CBC News, Edmonton. The Dodger lineup includes at least three future Hall of Famers, including Japanese superstar Shoeo Tani. Blue Jay manager John Schneider refuses to be intimidated. That is a beatable baseball team that has its flaws and that has its really, really good strengths. How we expose each of them will determine who wins the series. I'll say it till the day I die, I'll put this group of 26 up against anybody.
