Donald Trump is still upset about the Ontario ads using a Ronald Reagan speech in which he denounced the use of trade barriers. Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he would pause the campaign Monday, but that the ads would run during yesterday's and today's World Series games. On social media, Donald Trump said that because they're still running, he's putting a
Starting point is 00:00:55 10% tariff on Canadian goods over and above those. that have already been imposed, but he gave no other details. Prime Minister Mark Carney has arrived in Malaysia the first stop on a trip to several Asian countries, and the shadow of Trump's trade war is focusing his efforts to diversify Canada's export markets. Murray Brewster has more from Kuala Lumpur. It's taken 24 hours for the Prime Minister to fly to Malaysia, and in geopolitics these days, that's a long time. The big question on everyone's mind is whether Mark Carney will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump
Starting point is 00:01:28 here at the ASEAN Summit. Prior to leaving Ottawa, Carney said that Canada will carry on, build at home, and seek out new partnerships. That's the focus of budget 2025 generational investment here in Canada. And we can also control or at least heavily influence is developing new partnerships and opportunities, including with the economic giants of Asia. For his part, Trump says he has no intention of beating Carney, although that could change. Meanwhile, the prime minister's focus is on free trade talks with Assyan countries. Starting point is 00:02:11 from prison early. He is an asylum seeker set to be deported. Julia Chapman has more. Hadush Kabatu arrived on British soil in a small boat in July. An Ethiopian national, he applied for asylum here. While that claim was being put, processed, he sexually assaulted a woman and a 14-year-old girl. That led to protests outside the hotel where he was housed. Similar demonstrations followed around the country. Kibatu was due to be deported next week. Instead, the prison released him. It says it was an operational error. He was last seen yesterday boarding a train heading for London. John Podmore is a former prison inspector. This is what happens in a broken system.
Starting point is 00:02:57 of justice says this is a rare error and an officer has been removed from duty while investigations take place. Prime Minister Kier-Starmer says he is appalled by the incident. Opposition leader Kemi Badenock calls it a level of incompetence that beggars belief. Julia Chapman, CBC News, London. This after an audacious daylight heist last weekend exposed the famed museum, famed museum, weak security. Madison Barger's pinch hit Grand Slam, the first ever in a fall classic, highlighted a nine-run sixth inning for the hometown Blue Jays. They beat the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers 114 to grab a 1-0 series lead. Barger telling Fox Sports it was a sort of memorable moment. To be honestly, I don't even remember. It was so hard to just kind of gather my thoughts and everything. You know, it's just like a blackout moment, you know, it's just crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Jay's bats continued a successful run they've had all postseason. Here's manager John Schneider. So much credit to the guys up and down the lineup, being ready to come into the game. You know, they were ready during BP, you know, talking to Nate, talking to Izzy, Addy, those at bats in that inning, starting with Bow's walk, then a knock, you know, it kind of just kept on going, but those were some pretty terrific at bats.
