Starting point is 00:00:40 president donald trump says he's going to raise tariffs already imposed on canadian goods and services because of the ontario anti-tariff ads that are running during this weekend's world series games mike crawley has the latest donald trump's announcement comes in a social media post from air force one The 200-word post falsely claims former President Ronald Reagan loved tariffs and calls the Ontario ad, which uses Reagan's own words, a fraud. Trump says, quote, because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts and hostile act, I am increasing the tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now. Trump has imposed multiple tariffs on Canadian exports, and his post does not say which of them. is increasing. CBC News has asked the White House for clarification and asked Canadian government officials if they've received any formal notification. Trump made the post Saturday while traveling
Starting point is 00:01:40 to Malaysia for a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Prime Minister Mark Carney is already there. Mike Crowley, CBC News, Washington. Two people have been killed and 13 others injured in Kiev after Russian missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Dominic Philitis. reports. Last night's attack on Kyiv set off multiple fires and damaged residential infrastructure, including a kindergarten. Although most of the drones and missiles fired at the city were shot down, some reached their targets, killing two people, and wounding 13 others.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Again, Ukraine's energy infrastructure was hit in the strikes. The country's prime minister today accused Russia of attempting to create a humanitarian catastrophe to coincide with winter. President Volodymyr Zelensky, meanwhile, said the attacks highlighted again just how important patriot air defense systems are for defending Ukraine cities from Russia's relentless aerial attacks. We still have 13 murdered hostages that are still in Gaza and have not been retrieved. And this is why Hamas is in violation of this agreement. We demand that the mediators put their foot down and that they make sure that we don't move forward with this agreement until every single one is back home. U.S. President Donald Trump is giving Hamas 48 hours to return the remains and says he is watching very closely. Starting point is 00:03:43 Fans have been electrified following an 11-4 victory by Toronto in game one. The CBC's Greg Ross is soaking up the atmosphere at Rogers Center. What an amazing atmosphere inside the Rogers Center. Obviously, fans here are just so excited after that victory in game one of this series. The Jay's winning game one 11 to 4, also happy with the return of Bo Bichette to the lineup. Hasn't played since September 6th. He was back in game one. Today, the Blue Jays electing not to have him in the starting lineup,
Starting point is 00:04:13 but he is available to the Blue Jays off the bench. And we saw in game one how valuable a pinch hitter can be to the Blue Jays. had that big pinch hit Grand Slam home run by Addison Barcher in game one of this series. That was the first ever pinch hit home run in the world series. Fans going crazy here trying to come in and tickets very expensive. That's one thing we're finding out. People are having trouble getting tickets to get into the game. That's the CBC's Greg Ross reporting.
