Starting point is 00:01:20 President Donald Trump says he's going to raise tariffs already imposed on Canadian goods and services because of the Ontario anti-terravans. Mike Crawley has the latest. Donald Trump's announcement comes in a social media post from Air Force One. The 200-word post falsely claims former President Ronald Reagan loved tariffs and calls the Ontario ad, which uses Reagan's own words, a fraud. Trump says, quote, because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts and hostile act, I am increasing the tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now.
Starting point is 00:01:57 Trump has imposed multiple tariffs on Canadian exports, and his post does not say which of them is increasing. CBC News has asked the White House for clarification and asked Canadian government officials if they've received any formal notification. Trump made the post Saturday while traveling to Malaysia for a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Prime Minister Mark Carney is already there. Mike Crowley, CBC News, Washington. Manitoba is on track to inject. a significant number of U.S. doctors into the health care system. Recruiters have been tapping into the market because of the political climate south of the border.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Josh Krabb reports. Come February, there will be a new face in Brandon Manitoba's emergency department. US-trained, Dr. Arley-Traner arrives with 25 years' experience. The fact that you can get such wonderful care and it doesn't bankrupt you is a huge thing. Born in Manitoba, she's mainly returning for family reasons, but Traynor says Trump administration policies were also a factor. Several Canadian provinces are aggressively recruiting American health care workers and trying to make it easier for them to make the transition. Dr. Ainsley-Mahalchuk heads up the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. She says U.S. trained and certified doctors

The province will see one of the biggest increases ever in American doctors moving north. 10 have registered in Manitoba since Trump was elected last year, and another eight are going through the process. Josh Crabb, CBC News, Winnipeg. A BC man uses boxing skills to fight off a grizzly bear in southeastern BC earlier this month. He's recovering in the hospital after suffering wounds to his face and body. Sarah Penton has the story. Joe Pendry has been hunting for 40 years, and before that, he was a competitive boxer.
Starting point is 00:03:50 His wife, Janice Pendry, says it was his experience in both those realms that likely save his life. In early October, Pendry was hunting for elk near Cranbrook when he encountered two grizzly cubs. He stood up to make himself known and from the side, Mama charged and he shot her in the hip, but that just made her mad. Danis Pendry says from there, instincts took over. He did bogs the bear. He punched the bear in the... The bear ripped into Pendry's face and head, tearing off his scalp and lips, taking off a finger and breaking several bones. Eventually, Pendry says her husband realized he had to play dead. The bear eventually did leave Pendry.
