Starting point is 00:00:40 the summit of the association of southeast asian nations we are going to double our non-US exports over the course the next 10 years we think we can do it a much shorter period of time that's 300 billion of additional exports most of that is going to come uh from asia in our view mark carney says on top of that commitment, his government will lay out a path for at least a half a trillion dollars in additional investment in Canada. Carney says it will happen in the next five years with a focus on energy, particularly building infrastructure to drive both clean and conventional energy and trade corridors. Also in Kuala Lampur, the Prime Minister took some lighthearted jabs at Ontario Premier Doug Ford, apparently in response to the anti-tariff TV ads which sparked the

I said the always entertaining, no, the always interesting, the always unpredictable President, Premier Ford. Yeah, God, sorry, I've got, I don't know why I mixed the two up, President and Premier Ford. Is that on, by the way? The comments made during a news conference at the summit this morning. The Los Angeles Dodgers have Now even the World Series and a game of peace after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in game two of the fall classic last night in Toronto. Steve Futterman has more. Winning the first two games of the World Series doesn't guarantee victory, but it gives you a pretty good chance.
Starting point is 00:02:11 And that's what the Blue Jays were hoping to do. The Dodgers took an early one-nothing lead in the first, but Toronto came back to tide in the third. It stayed that way until the seven. High drive deep to left field. It's Smith with the big shot. Swing! Dodger catcher Will Smith hit a solo home run to make it two to one. Two batters later, it was three to one. This time it was Max Muncie hitting the home run. L.A. added two more runs than the eighth. Before the game, the hero of the Blue Jays' 1993 World Series championship, Joe Carter, throughout the ceremonial first pitch. But on this night, there was no Joe Carter walk-off magic. Steve Futterman, CBC News at the World Series in Toronto. A BC man used his boxing skills to fight off a grizzly bear in southeastern BC earlier this month. He's recovering in the hospital after suffering wounds to his face and body. And we warn some of the details in this story could be graphic. Sarah Penton has the story.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Joe Pendry has been hunting for 40 years, and before that, He was a competitive boxer. His wife, Janice Pendry, says it was his experience in both those realms that likely saved his life. In early October, Pendry was hunting for elk near Cranbrook when he encountered two grizzly cubs. He stood up to make himself known, and from the side, Mama charged, and he shot her in the hip, but that just made her mad. Janice Pendry says from there, instincts took over. He did box the bear. He punched the bear in the nose. The bear ripped into Pendry's face and head, tearing off his scalp and lips, taking off a finger and breaking several bones.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Eventually, Pendry says her husband realized he had to play dead. The bear eventually did leave Pendry. BC Conservation Service says a dead grizzly was found in the area days later and confirmed it was the animal responsible for the attack. Sarah Penton, CBC News, Colonna, BC. Up until an hour ago, we had no ideas about what was happening. kind of resigned ourselves to the fact that we were going to be stuck in a hurricane. Canadian tourists Kimberly Farrell talking about her Jamaican vacation that has been cut short. The island is preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Melissa.
