This ascent isn't for everyone.
You need grit to climb this high this often.
You've got to be an underdog that always over-delivers.
You've got to be 6,500 hospital staff, 1,000 doctors,
all doing so much with so little.
You've got to be Scarborough.
Defined by our uphill battle and always striving towards new heights.
And you can help us keep climbing.

Bro.C.C.C. News, it's the world this hour. I'm Joe Cummings. For the second time in two months,
the Bank of Canada is cutting interest rates. In its October setting today, the central bank
trimmed its influential rate by a quarter point, dropping it down to 2.25%.
Peter Armstrong reports.
Good morning, everyone. I'm very pleased to be here.
Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklam knows the Canadian economy is suffering.
The problem is he doesn't think the solution is necessarily lower interest rates.
The weakness we're seeing in the Canadian economy is more than a cyclical downturn.
It's also a structural adjustment.
The U.S. trade conflict has diminished Canada's economic.
economic prospects. Macklems says changes in borrowing costs can only do so much. So he cut rates
today, but he warns that may be it for now. That means all eyes now turn to next week's
federal budget. What can Ottawa do to address that structural transition? Can major projects
like pipelines, mines, and better ports do a better job of juicing the economy than a cut to
interest rates? The central bank will meet again in December by then. Maclum hopes he'll have more
information about what's being spent, what is working, and where trade talks have landed.
Peter Armstrong, CBC News, Toronto.
Former conservative Senator Don Meredith has been found not guilty of sexual assault and
criminal harassment. The verdict in the case was issued today in an Ottawa courtroom.
The charges were laid after a woman came to police with allegations that date back more
than 10 years. Meredith is an ordained minister who was appointed to the Senate by former
Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He resigned in 2017 after the Senate's
Ethics officer reported Meredith had violated the Chamber's Code of Ethics by engaging in a
relationship with a 16-year-old girl. The Ontario government is calling it an important first step
toward developing its mineral-rich ring-of-fire region. It's a multi-million dollar agreement
with the Northern First Nation that clears the way for the development to get started.
Janice McGregor has more. The Ford government is calling the agreement it just signed with the
Webiquet First Nation a historic example of economic.
reconciliation. This is a community over 500 kilometers north of Thunder Bay. It is the one closest
to the ring of fire, that site of so many coveted critical minerals and ground zero for debates
over how to move forward with resource development while also respecting the treaty rights of
indigenous peoples. There are elements of this nearly $40 million partnership signed today
that work for both sides. The community is getting a new multi-purpose, community center,
arena, new mental health and social services supports and airport improvements and significantly
jobs. This community led the environmental assessment process for the new WebEquay Supply Road,
and that is going to connect this community and its resources to Ontario's provincial highway system.
That approval the Ford government says is going to be granted this spring and they want shovels
in the ground by next summer. Janice McGregor, CBC News, Ottawa.
Calling it a response to Hamas violating the ceasefire, Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes on Gaza.
Palestinian officials say at least 104 people have been killed.
It comes after an Israeli military reservist was killed earlier this week in Rafa.
It's the second fatal attack of its kind since the ceasefire took effect.
Hamas has been accused in both attacks but is denying any involvement.
Now to the Blue Jays and that big win last night in Los Angeles.
Hit well to deep left center.
And this one will go.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Lines one into the seats in left center, and the Blue Jays take the league.
It's a highlight from last night's victory, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
hitting a two-run homer off Shohei Otani in the third inning.
He got the ball rolling, and the Jays were on their way to a 6-2 victory.
That ties the series at two wins apiece with Game 5 set for tonight,
again in Los Angeles. The Jays will start rookie Trey Yassavich. For the Dodgers, it's
Blake Schnell. And that is The World This Hour. For CBC News, I'm Joe Cummings.
