Prime Minister Mark Carney met with South Korean President Lee Jim Young today.
We're meeting at a time when our defense cooperation this evening, and very importantly, that our cultural ties continue to grow.
It's the latest high-profile meeting on Carney's Asia tour, but the big test is this Friday.
Karni will sit down with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Canada is trying to reset relations with China after years of tension
and a diplomatic spat that saw two Canadians detained in Chinese prison.
The United States is also trying to improve its relations with China.
U.S. President Donald Trump met today with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
We've already agreed to a lot of things and we'll agree to some more right now.
but President Xi is a great leader of a great country
and I think we're going to have a fantastic relationship for a long period of time
and it's an honor to have you with us. Thank you very much.
Trump says he will lower his tariff rates on imports of Chinese goods
to 47 percent from 57 percent.
The Chinese president is also vowing to curb shipments of fentanyl ingredients to the U.S.
Given our different national conditions, we do not
always see eye to eye with each other. And it is normal for the two leading economies of the
world to have frictions now and then. And tonight on Air Force One, Trump told reporters he had a
very nice conversation with Prime Minister Mark Carney in South Korea. Trump was angry with
Canada after that Ontario government ad criticized his tariff policy. A vigil was held tonight
for Jack and Lily Sullivan. It's been almost six months since the young siblings vanished,
from their home in rural Nova Scotia.
Selina Alders has more from Lansdowne Station.
Both of them deserve better.
We deserve answers.
Haley Ferdinand is Jack and Lily Sullivan's aunt.
They've been missing since May 2nd.
She was one of several family members
who gathered to honor the missing children.
It's been six months too long.
It was also Jack's fifth birthday.
On a night that should have been a joyous occasion,
the only candles burning were those at a vigil for the boy and his sister.
Was it just lost in the woods or was there something more?
Picto County warden Robert Parker says most residents he hears from
believe something happened to the young siblings
and he does not think they're missing somewhere in the woods.
RCMP say the case remains active.
It's being investigated under the Missing Persons Act
and they insist it's not a criminal case.
Selina Alders, CBC News, Stellerton, Nova Scotia.
The Toronto Blue Jays won game five of the World Series tonight,
with a 6-1 victory over the L.A. Dodgers.
The Jays are now one win away from becoming World Series champions.
The CBC's Jamie Strachan reports from Los Angeles.
A historic performance by rookie sensation,
Trey Y Savage, has the Toronto Blue Jays on the cusp of a World Series crown.
In a word, Yassavich was sensational.
The 22-year-old making only his eighth major league start struck out 12
and surrendered only one run over seven masterful innings.
The 12 strikeouts the most by a rookie pitcher in World Series history.
Offensively for the Blue Jays, it was again Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who led the way.
Guerrero and Davis Schneider hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning
and the Jays never looked back, cruising to a 6-1 win in front of a.
disheartened crowd at Dodgers Stadium.
After the game, fans in attendance crowded behind the Blue Jay dugout,
chanting Vladdy as the All-Star first baseman did an interview.
The series now heads back to Toronto for game 6 Friday.
The Jays have a chance to win the franchise's third world series
and the first since 1993.
Jamie Strash and CBC News, Los Angeles.
And that is your world this hour.
I'm Neil Hurland.
Thank you.
