from cbc news it's the world this hour i'm joe cummings for blue jay fans the world series dream
is alive and well and the blue jays come into l a day take two out of three here beating them
tonight six to one and they're up three games to two in the world series and again six won the final
score last night for the Blue Jays behind yet another remarkable performance by rookie pitcher
Trey Yassavich, the 22-year-old striking out 12 Dodgers over seven innings of work, and the
Jays now just one victory away from winning the World Series. The two teams are back now in Toronto
with game six set for tomorrow night at Rogers Center. Ahead of tomorrow's opening of the
Apex Summit, Prime Minister Mark Carney is in South Korea, and today, among other items on the
agenda, he was shopping for submarines.
Murray Brewster reports.
The Prime Minister was given a tour of a brand new KSS3 submarine, built for the Korean Navy, launched a few days ago.
The kind Hanwa Ocean wants to sell to Canada.
The company has been fairly aggressive.
It got to be one of the two preferred bidders by submitting a detailed $20 to $24 billion unsolicited proposal to the federal government just before last spring's election.
South Korea put political weight behind the bid.
The country's Prime Minister accompanied Mark Carney on the visit to the sprawling,
naval facility. There's one submarine in the water, and today it was flying a Canadian flag.
Another is up on the skids in a construction shed. It's a not-so-suttle demonstration by the
Koreans that their production lines are active, and they can deliver four submarines to Canada by
2035. The Navy's deadline to retire the old Victoria-class boats. Carnie's visit is also significant
because it's a sign the federal government wants to move swiftly towards a decision.
Marie Brewster, CBC News, Koje, South Korea.
West President Donald Trump was also in South Korea earlier today, meeting with Chinese
President Xi Jinping.
We've already agreed to a lot of things, and we'll agree to some more right now.
But President Xi is a great leader of a great country, and I think we're going to have a
fantastic relationship for a long period of time.
Trump says he will be lowering some of his tariffs on China, but in some cases they're still
at more than 45%.
Here's a Chinese president speaking
through an interpreter.
Given our different national conditions,
we do not always see eye to eye
with each other. And it is
normal for the two leading economies of the world
to have frictions now and then.
As for TikTok, there were reports
the two leaders would be finalizing a deal today
that would see the platform move from Chinese
to American ownership, but nothing materialized.
A vigil was held last night
in rural Nova Scotia for Jack and Lily Sullivan.
With the police investigation stalled, the siblings haven't been seen now in almost six months.
Selina Alders has more.
Both of them deserve better.
We deserve answers.
Haley Ferdinand is Jack and Lily Sullivan's aunt.
They've been missing since May 2nd.
Last evening, she was one of several family members who gathered to honor the missing children.
It's been six months too long.
It was also Jack's fifth birthday.
On a night that should have been a joyous occasion,
the only candles burning were those at a vigil for the boy and his sister.
Was it just lost in the woods or was there something more?
Picto County warden Robert Parker says most residents he hears from
believe something happened to the young siblings
and he does not think they're missing somewhere in the woods.
RCMP say the case remains active. It's being investigated under the Missing Persons Act, and they insist it's not a criminal case.
