This ascent isn't for everyone.
You need grit to climb this high this often.
You've got to be an underdog that always over-delivers.
You've got to be 6,500 hospital staff, 1,000 doctors,
all doing so much with so little.
You've got to be Scarborough.
Defined by our uphill battle and always striving towards new heights.
And you can help us keep climbing.

From CBC News, the world this hour, I'm Angie Seth.
Prime Minister Donald Trump says the U.S. will begin planning to test nuclear weapons,
quote, immediately, and marks a major shift in U.S. policy as the world's nuclear
superpowers wrestle for geopolitical dominance.
Willie Lowry has more.
The U.S. has not conducted a nuclear test since 1992, but that may be about to
change. President Donald Trump says the reason to stay competitive with Russia and China.
We have more than anybody, but I see them testing. I say, well, they're going to test
as we have to test. We have so many in Russia's second and China's third and China will catch
up. The timing of Trump's announcement, no accident. Earlier this week, Russia tested an advanced
nuclear-capable cruise missile and a nuclear-powered torpedo. Russian President Vladimir Putin
described the weapons as unmatched.
Trump says the U.S. would be testing nuclear weapons on an equal basis to its rivals.
Some experts believe it could take as many as three years before the U.S. would even be in a
position to conduct such tests.
The fear, though, that it could trigger a new nuclear arms race.
Willie Lowry, CBC News, Washington.
The Trump administration is slashing the number of refugees.
The United States will admit from 125,000 to...
just 7,500. And it says most of those accepted will be white South Africans. The White House
published the information in a federal registry. The United Nations Security Council is condemning
a bloody assault by paramilitary forces in Sudan. Medics say 1,500 people have been killed since the
rapid support forces besieged the city of Al-Fashir last weekend. That includes a massacre of
hundreds of people at a hospital, also used as a shelter. Martha Pobie, with the UN Department
of peace-building affairs, says no one in Al-Fashir is safe.
The situation is simply horrifying.
The human cost is profound.
The risk of mass atrocities, ethnically targeted violence, and further violations of
international humanitarian law remains alarmingly high.
Since April of 2023, the RSF has fought against the Sudanese armed forces.
Tens of thousands have been killed and some 14 million people have been
displaced due to the conflict.
Well, Canadian yellow peas are facing a new tariff.
India has slapped a 30% duty on imports starting November 1st.
The move threatens to further disrupt an industry worth $740 million a year.
Here's more from Alexander Silberman.
Canada's pea producers taking another major hit.
Yellow peas already down in price 34% from a year ago in response to pressure from a Chinese
tariff, now facing a blow from India. The country is imposing a 30% duty on all yellow pea imports
starting Saturday. The move is a protectionist measure, following demands from Indian farmers.
It restores previous tariffs that were dropped when supplies were low in 2023, but the
shortage is now over. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is calling on Ottawa to take action. His province
produces more than half of Canadian peas.
Moses the industry desperately needs stable trade
amid lingering conflict with China and the U.S.
Alexander Silberman, CBC News, Regina.
The man convicted of stealing a Yusuf Karsh portrait of Winston Churchill
from the Chateauroix-Lorier Hotel in Ottawa
has lost his appeal of his sentence.
Jeff Wood pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years less a day.
His lawyer appealed calling the sentence unnecessarily harsh,
but the Ontario Court of Appeal rejected his appeal.
Wood's lawyer says they will take it to the Supreme Court next.
And finally, the Toronto Blue Jays flew back to Toronto overnight with the wind in their sales.
The team has one win away from winning the World Series after defeating the L.A. Dodgers last night, taking three games to two lead.
Game six goes tomorrow night, and if needed, game seven will be on Saturday.
And that is your world this hour.

Thank you.
