Starting point is 00:00:30 From CBC News, the world this hour, I'm Hensi Seth. Ottawa is giving Caribbean countries $7 million in humanitarian aid following Hurricane Melissa. Here's Foreign Affairs Minister, Anita Anandh. We, of course, are standing ready 24-7 to assist in ways that are requested. The Category 5 storm ravaged much of Jamaica. Crews are clearing roads for emergency vehicles and evacuated. residents still in danger.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Jamaican information minister Dana Morris says at least five people are dead, and there could well be more. We get a lot of reports about potential bodies. We're not sure. They have to verify this, and so we have a helicopter that's been dedicated that is going to be doing that really, really very difficult work. Melissa is currently a category one storm and heading towards Bermuda. Prince Andrew will no longer be addressed as Prince.
Starting point is 00:01:29 King Charles issued a statement saying his brother will from now on be known as Andrew Mountbatten, Windsor. Andrew had already been stripped of his titles, including Duke of York. The statement goes on to say he will be moving out of Royal Lodge on the grounds of Windsor Castle and will move to private accommodations. Back here at home, a Newfoundland mother is making a desperate plea to get her daughter back. Musha Mubuki says the girl was abducted by her father and taken to Egypt. despite a non-removal order from the courts. Arianna Kelland has that story. I miss her voice.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Boucher Marbuhi hasn't seen or heard from her daughter since September 26th. Her estranged husband, Ahmed El-Gamal, took the girl for a sleep over that night and didn't bring her back. El-Gamal texted Mar-Buhi to say he took the girl back to his home country of Egypt. That's despite a family court non-removal order to prevent something like this from happening. That non-removal order gave me a false sense of safety. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary issued an arrest warrant for El Gamal yesterday on a charge of parental abduction contrary to a court order. Federal justice officials say Canada does not have an extradition treaty with Egypt.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Marbuhe has asked for a wellness check on her daughter, but has not received any reassurances yet that she's safe. We just want her back. Arianna Kelland, CBC News, St. John. New Brunswick is seeing a surge in interest from Quebec physicians who've been embroiled in a contract dispute. Now, last week, the legal government passed an unpopular bill that tied part of a doctor's compensation to performance targets. The New Brunswick College of Physicians and Surgeons says it typically gets three or four license applications a month from Quebec, but this month 40 Quebec physicians have applied.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Premier Susan Holt says she believes it's fair to recruit Quebec doctors during the dispute. We're constantly looking to attract doctors here to New Brunswick from other places in Canada and from places around the world. So vitality right now has a recruitment campaign targeted towards Quebec doctors, and I believe we've seen an increase. Premier Francois Legoe is upset that Ontario and New Brunswick are courting Quebec doctors saying provinces should not be taking shots at each other. And finally, well, fans are buzzing in anticipation as the Toronto Blue Jays look for one more win to claim the World Series. title for the first time in more than 30 years. The Jays lead the best of seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3 to 2. They play in front of a sold-out hometown crowd at the Rogers Center tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:04:08 That's Friday. Manager John Schneider says it's been incredible to have the support of fans watching from the stadium and from across Canada. I can't wait to see what this place is like tomorrow. You know, watching it from on video from across the country with the people here watching. Never seen anything like that. Never seen a watch party like that. So I'm just, I'm excited as hell to see what this place is like tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:04:30 The guys are too. They're talking about it as well. We kind of want the game to start right now. Now, if necessary, game seven is set for Saturday.
