In his first news conference, since he lost two of his MPs, Polyev attempted to change the channel from the rumors that swirled around his party last week. David Thurton reports. Alberta MP, Matt Jenneru, announced he is resigning. Nova Scotia MP, Chris Dantramar, crossed the floor to join the Liberals. Pauliab during the news conference, last out at reporters for focusing on the departures rather than the liberal government's costly budget. Polyev also attempted to use Dantraman's former words against him.

A reporter asked Pollyette if more of his MPs would be leaving the caucus. Pauliyev said no. David Thurton, CBC News, Ottawa. The White House is dismissing emails released today, which further link the U.S. president to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These emails released by Congress Democrats mentioned Donald Trump by name several times.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Katie Nicholson has more from watching. Washington. It just shows how this is truly a manufactured hoax by the Democrat Party. The White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt on the defense. After House Democrats released three emails from sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's estate mentioning Donald Trump. One says Trump spent time with an alleged victim. In another, Epstein says Trump, quote, knew about the girls. When that email was sent in 2019, Epstein had been facing federal charges of sex trafficking minors. These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong. This comes as House Democrats and four Republicans are expected to push for legislation to release the DOJ-Zepstein files.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Among them, Democratic Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett. If you know that you are free and clear, then why not say, you know what, release the files? An issue that didn't fade away during the House's 54-day recess. Katie Nicholson, CBC News, Washington. A vote is planned in the U.S. House of Representatives this evening. Lawmakers will have the opportunity to end the longest federal government shutdown in history. Most Democrats are expected to vote against a bill to reopen because it doesn't extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. But just enough are expected to vote in favor to help it pass.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Ontario's Court of Appeal has ruled that legal online gaming and sports betting would remain lawful, even if users outside of Canada are allowed to participate. The decision opens the door to an expansion of online gambling in Ontario, that's despite concerns coming from other Canadian jurisdictions. Israel's president, Isaac Herzog, is calling for action to stop violence by settlers in the occupied West Bank. On Tuesday, dozens of masked Israeli settlers hurled stones and set fire to homes and dairy trucks in a new surge of violence in the occupied West Bank.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Manager Mujed al-Gunedi says his workers had to take shelter during the midday attack. We instructed our employees to take shelter and look after their safety. Our employees locked themselves inside of our premises, and then the settlers started attacking the premises from the outside, throwing stones on the windows, and then started burning our trucks. Four Palestinians were injured in the attack. And the U.S. minted its last penny today. There was applause at the Philadelphia Mint as the machine struck the,
Starting point is 00:04:26 The last coin, the move's meant to save money because the penny has become largely irrelevant. Treasury officials say the final few pennies will be auctioned off.
