Starting point is 00:00:35 From CBC News, The World This Hour, I'm Gina Louise Phillips. RCMP in northern Alberta are still looking for three armed suspects. The trio stole guns from a store. Sam Samson has more on the incident and the search. Three people are still on the run after stealing a number of guns from a business on Saturday. It happened in Red Earth Creek, a community more than 400 kilometers north of Edmonton. RCMP say the group robbed a business, shot at someone, then fled. No one was hurt, but police advised people in the area to shelter in place.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Hours later, police found their vehicle north of Peerless Trout First Nation, which is about 65 kilometers northeast from the site of the robbery. The suspects ran into the woods. Police say they searched for hours, even called in extra resources, but determined early this morning the suspects were no longer in the area. Since then, the shelter in place has been left. lifted. Police are still looking for the suspects who they say are armed and dangerous, but they haven't offered any descriptions of the three. BC New Democrats are holding a convention this weekend, and 83% of the delegates voted not to hold a review of Premier David Eby's leadership. Delegates also passed a resolution calling on Ottawa to maintain the ban on oil tankers off BC's northern coast. The public feud between Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Green is growing more heated. Once staunch allies, the president and the congresswoman have fallen out over his handling of the Epstein files and other issues. On his social media, Trump calls her wacky, a ranting lunatic and a disgrace to the Republican Party.
Starting point is 00:02:22 The former Trump loyalist says the U.S. president's online attacks are putting her at risk. The most hurtful thing he said, which is absolutely untrue, is he called me a traitor. And that is so extremely wrong. And those are the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger. Taylor Green says she's being contacted by private security firms with warnings about her safety. The UK is announcing sweeping changes to its asylum policy. People granted asylum will now have to wait 20 years before applying for permanent status that's up from five years currently.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And they could lose refugee status if their situation changes. Shabana Mahmoud is Home Secretary. The situation will be assessed every two and a half years. So if your country becomes safe in that intervening period and you are remaining on this essentially core protection model, you will be returned to your country because we see countries that have started off in conflict and people have moved in order to, essentially, escape that conflict becoming safe. I think that is right. There's growing public concern about uncontrolled immigration as the number of people arriving
Starting point is 00:03:34 in small boats soars. And finally, today is Grey Cups Sunday. In a few hours, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders will take on the Montreal Alouettes in the 112 CFL Championship game. Gavin Axelrod has more on the fans who headed to Winnipeg for the big event. Starting point is 00:04:10 and Montreal Alouettes in Winnipeg. Saskatchewan is looking to win its first Grey Cup since 2013. Riders fan Dan Petroski wants to see his team win the CFL's biggest prize on the home turf of the rival Winnipeg Blue Bomber. We wanted to come here for the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, and we will win in their town. Alouettes fan Matheson Walker hopes his team will win the Grey Cup for the second time in three years. You know, the CFL writers, I think they all picked Saskatchewan to win.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Just like two years ago, they all picked Winnipeg to win and the out's pulled through. Manitoba, the host province, is also hoping to cash in on the festivities.
