Thanks to pepper spray and a bear banger,
a group of teachers in BC are being praised as heroes
after they fought to protect their students
during a grizzly bear attack in Bella Cula.
As Pinky Wong reports,
the bear still hasn't been found.
It's been a hard 24 hours for our nation.
Samuel Schooner is the elected chief counselor of the new Hulk Nation.
He says a group of around 20 students,

We really need to stress how dangerous this situation is with this bear at large.

After more than two years of negotiations, the Canadian Union of Postal workers
says it has reached an agreement in principle with Canada Post.
That means both sides have agreed to the main points of a deal, but still need to work out the
exact language before it can be put to membership for a vote. The union has been conducting
rotating strikes for more than a month, which it says will now stop.
Ukraine is on a countdown clock facing a nearly impossible choice. The U.S. has presented
Kiev with its draft plan to end the war with Russia. But the proposal calls on Ukraine
to make concessions that would cost it territory and dramatically weaken its sovereignty.
Chris Brown reports.
Now is one of the most difficult moments in our history.
President Vladimir Zelensky said outside of Kyiv's presidential palace, underscoring that accepting the 28-point plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump would leave his country in a terrible position.
He said accepting means either the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner, the United States.
Zelensky appeared to confirm that Trump wants his approval by Thursday or else the U.S. will cut off intelligence sharing and other assistance.
the plan would force painful concessions on Ukraine, such as turning over territory in the Donbass region to Russia.
EU head Ursula von der Leyen, proclaiming only Ukraine can determine its own future.
Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
Zelensky already appears to be unwilling to say yes to Trump's plan as it stands.
He indicated he's working with the U.S. on alternatives.
Chris Brown, CBC News, London.
Russian President Vladimir Putin says he has received a copy of that U.S.
plan.
He says the proposal could be the basis for what he calls a final settlement, but some
aspects of it still need to be discussed.
Meanwhile, European leaders are pledging their continued support for Ukraine.
They're planning a meeting tomorrow on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
The former leader of the Reform Party in Wales and a former British member of the European Parliament
is going to prison.
Nathan Gill has been sentenced to 10 and a half years behind bars after pleading guilty to bribery.
He accepted payments for making speeches provided by pro-Russian Ukrainian politicians.
Prosecutors also say they found evidence that he tabled pro-Russian motions in the European Parliament.
I want to congratulate.
I think you're going to have hopefully a really great mayor.
The best president, Donald Trump, says he feels confident in New York City mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani.
The two concluded their first official.
official meeting this afternoon and say it was productive. Trump had previously called
Mamdani a communist. He now says the two of them have much in common. And he adds,
some conservatives might be surprised by the new mayor. And that is the world this hour. You can
