From CBC News, The World This Hour. I'm Claude Fagg. Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney is reaffirming the country's support for Ukraine, despite mounting pressure to accept a U.S. peace plan. The 28-point plan is being discussed on the sidelines of the G20 summit today in South Africa. The CBC's Karina Roman is at the summit.
European leaders here are clearly concerned about the leaked proposed peace deal by the U.S. European Commission President,
posting on social media, nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
The UK announcing that Ukraine's friends and partners will meet on the margins of the summit.
Now, that includes 11 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, and Canada
to discuss how to secure a full ceasefire and meaningful peace negotiations.
There seems to be a desire what they say is to strengthen the U.S. plan,
which does seem to be code for improve, because this proposed to.
peace deal seems very much aligned with Russia's demands. Now, earlier, Prime Minister Mark Carney
had a one-on-one meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. The readout from that bilateral
said that any settlement on Ukraine must include Ukraine's involvement. It must respect Ukraine's

One person has died and two others were injured after getting hit by a light rail train.
train overnight in a Montreal suburb. The incident happened on the South Shore Line in Broussard.
Shouye Lee has the latest.
Police got the call at just after three in the morning about the train hitting the three men.
Surtey to Quebec spokeswoman Ev Bronshu-Jubert says the three were crossing Highway 10 and the
rem tracks on foot.
She says despite the train's approach, they continued on their way and were hit.
Brochu Joubert says one person was declared dead at the scene.
The two others are now in hospital.

She says SQ collision investigators are on site trying to piece together what happened.
They'll also be speaking to potential witnesses.
The train that hit the three men was traveling outside of scheduled REM hours.
REM service is suspended between the Brossard and DuCartier stations while police investigate.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is ending rotating strikes.
That comes after it reached an agreement in principle with Canada Post.
The two sides have agreed to the main points of the deal,
but still have to work out exact language before workers can vote on it.
The rotating strikes have been going for a month and negotiations for more than two years.
All this comes the same day as Canada Post announced a loss of over a half a billion dollars in the third quarter,
the largest quarterly loss in its history.
while women's hockey history was made in Vancouver last night.
Well, the West Coast expansion era begins tonight
with the Golden Eye at Center Ice, ready to watch history unfold.
The Golden Eyes hosted the Seattle Torrent.
They are the latest expansion teams in the professional women's hockey league,
playing on the opening night of the league's third season,
and the sellout crowd of 15,000 strong got their money's worth
with the game going to overtime.
