A big deal with some big unanswered questions.
The Prime Minister and Alberta's Premier signed a memorandum of understanding on
energy, including a path to building a pipeline from the Alberta oil patch to the B.C. Coast.
Olivia Stefanovic has more.
At the core of the agreement, a priority to have a pipeline. That's going to make Canada.
a memorandum of understanding with Premier Danielle Smith,
declaring a new bitumen pipeline the first project of national interest.
This prime minister has made it clear to me that he is willing to work with me
and Alberta's government to accomplish that shared goal.
But Carney's support doesn't come without a catch.
The agreement ties the approval of one or more privately financed pipelines

from 95 to $130 per ton.
and building Pathways Plus, the world's largest carbon capture project, and if a new pipeline is approved, the federal government would temporarily lift the oil tanker ban along the BC coast.

no proponent, no route, no money, no First Nation support,
that it cannot draw limited federal resources away from the real projects.
The Union of BC and Indian Chiefs is also calling the Energy Deal, quote,
deeply irresponsible.
It says the deal was negotiated without the involvement of coastal First Nations.

CPS. Constable David Harms is accused of encouraging or facilitating McBride's alleged conduct.
Harms has been charged with two counts of breach of trust. While investigating McBride,
police say they found an image of a partially naked woman which had been shared. The chief
