Solensky reiterated his view. Russia was dragging its feet on ending the war

Solonsky's made his Canadian stop on his way to the U.S. where, Sunday, he will meet Donald Trump and try and make inroads on a peace deal to end the war. The Alberta government has ordered a resurgence
Starting point is 00:01:25 review after a 44-year-old man died while waiting in an Edmonton emergency room. The man was experiencing chest pain when he went to see a doctor at Grey Nun's community hospital. He allegedly waited for nearly eight hours, then died. Hospital's minister Matt Jones says he's ordered a review into the circumstances. The Office of Alberta's Chief Medical Examiner has also begun an independent investigation. It's election day in Myanmar. This is the first one since the military seized power nearly five years ago. Critics say the election is not credible, arguing it's meant to give legitimacy to military rule.
Starting point is 00:02:05 The military is supervising the vote. It comes amongst a civil war raging in much of the country. The Olympic torch is making its way through central Italy in the lead up to the winter games. After being lit last month in ancient Olympia, in Greece, the torch was brought through the central Italian town of Sermineta Saturday. The relay will pass through all 110 Italian provinces in the buildup to the 2026 Olympic Games, which are being held in Milan and in the Italian mountain resort in the Dolomites beginning in February. Tickets to next summers, FIFA World Cup Games in Toronto are in high demand,
Starting point is 00:02:47 but high resale prices are raising concerns about a lack of scalping regulations in Ontario. Vass Betnar is managing director of the Canadian Shield Institute. She says even the middle class is increasingly getting excluded from major sports and music events. Some will say that it's not an issue insofar as, you know, we've commodified culture. And if somebody wants to pay that amount, they should be allowed to have that privilege of paying $8,000 or $80,000 for the ticket because they value the experience. Others will say that it creates, you know, a fundamentally inaccessible experience. for fans. Fort's government scrap part of a law capping ticket

Starting point is 00:03:42 Quebec man spent Christmas Day, Christmas Day rather, raising money for charity on just one wheel. Jacob, Flansbury, wrote 100 kilometers by unicycle through the Ottawa-Gat-No area. He ended up raising nearly $3,000. That money going to Teluguine, a youth helpline.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Flansbury says he hopes his endeavor helped anyone struggling with loneliness over the holidays. A lot of people are lonely. We celebrate family. We celebrate groups, whatever. These people sometimes are in dark places and doing this by myself. I mean, riding a unicycle in the snow
Starting point is 00:04:18 just brings a smile to anybody on their face. So the goal is to share this. and hopefully get some people out of that misery place. In August, Tel-June said it would have to cut some of its programs due to funding issues. Those cuts, including in-school workshops and also a peer-to-peer chat service put in place to help teens during the COVID-19 pandemic. And that is the world this hour.
