in essence, a small town that's coming together now in grief.
The community came together to mourn in silence.
As a few meters away, behind white barriers,
the work of locating and beginning the process of identifying the dead continues.
This young man works in the hospitality industry.
He arrived on the scene to try to find his friend.
He found her, but it was too late.
She died in his arms.
We tried to revive her.
There were firefighters.
There were police officers.
Everyone was everywhere.
It was insane.
It was insane.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Meanwhile, the offerings of candles, flowers, teddy bears
continue to grow in the streets as mourners come to the sea.
Some still looking for news of missing friends and relatives,
calling their phones and not getting any answers.

A snowmobiler is dead after being buried by an avalanche
in the Rocky Mountains and northeast.
Eastern BC on Thursday. With more snow expected in some regions, Avalanche Canada is sharing some
safety advice to those venturing into backcountry terrain. Shivani Joshi reports.
Avalanche Canada says the slide near Tumblr Ridge was triggered from the base of the slope.
Three snowmobilers were riding the bull moose area. One person from the group was caught and buried in
the avalanche. Avalanche Canada forecaster Martina Halick said earlier this week the north
Rocky saw stormy and windy conditions.
We have a persistent week layer that formed in mid-December.
And now there's quite a bit of snow that's built up on top of that rain crest.
With all of the new snow, the wind, some of the warming, in some areas that persistent week layer has been getting overloaded.
She's also warning those venturing into avalanche terrain to check the most up-to-date bulletins for region-specific conditions.
The northern half has been quite.
stormy lately. So we will see some elevated hazard in those areas.
Almost 80% of all Canadian avalanche fatalities over the past 10 years have been in B.C.
