Investigators in Switzerland are continuing the painful task
of identifying those who died in a nightclub fire.
This mother is looking for her 17-year-old son,
asking anyone who may know if he is injured or dead to contact her.
At least 40 people.
died when a fire tore through a club in a Swiss resort town in the early morning hours New Year's
Day. Nearly 120 others were injured. Officials say they believe the fire started by sparkling
champagne bottles that were brought too close to the ceiling. They also say it could take days
to identify everyone who was killed. The UN Secretary General says he's deeply concerned by Israel's
move to ban dozens of aid groups from Gaza. In a statement Friday, Antonio Guterres called the
measures to be reversed via a spokesperson, he said that move will exacerbate the humanitarian
crisis in Gaza already playing out. Israel says the banned groups failed to comply with new
registration rules, which aimed to prevent Hamas from infiltrating eight groups.
Officials in North Carolina say they have foiled a terrorist plot inspired by ISIS.
He was preparing for jihad and innocent people were going to die.
U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson says,
The 18-year-old suspect had been radicalized online.
He planned an attack on a grocery store and a fast food restaurant.
Ferguson says the suspect then shared his plans with two FBI agents,
who he believed were ISIS operatives.
He said he was going to wear a Kevlar vest and attack people with knives and hammers.
And, of course, he talked about when he was going to carry out this attack,
which was New Year's Eve.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday and was charged with attempting to provide material support
to a foreign terror organization.
Well, as work continues on a Calgary water main break,
boil water advisories remain in effect
for a number of communities.
For some businesses there,
it's a harsh reminder of previous struggles
from not long ago.
The CBC's Terry Trembath reports.
It's moving day for Sean Kearns.
He's closing his skin care and home goods store
along Bowness Road.
It's not related to this week's water main break,
but he says the timing couldn't be better.

Environment Canada is warning of potential for flooding in southwestern BC as high tides and high winds collide over the weekend.
The weather agency issued a statement Friday saying abnormal high-trial.
