This ascent isn't for everyone.
You need grit to climb this high this often.
You've got to be an underdog that always over-delivers.
You've got to be 6,500 hospital staff, 1,000 doctors,
all doing so much with so little.
You've got to be Scarborough.
Defined by our uphill battle and always striving towards new heights.
And you can help us keep climbing.

from cbic news the world this hour i'm mike miles venezuela remains under a state of emergency
this morning following the invasion by u.s forces and the capture of president nicholas maduro and his
wife early saturday exigemes the immediate liberation of the president nicholas maduro and
acting President Delci Rodriguez demanding their immediate release,
describing it as a kidnapping and accusing U.S. forces of savagely attacking Venezuela's territorial
integrity. But Donald Trump says the U.S. is running the country for now
and inviting oil companies to upgrade the country's energy infrastructure so they can drill
and pump away. Many around the world are calling the invasion illegal. And as Karen Paul's
reports, the action's also getting mixed reaction within the United
States. U.S. President Donald Trump says he's taking control of Venezuela's oil reserves and the
country. We have tremendous energy in that country. It's very important that we protect it.
That's getting mixed reaction in the U.S. while there's celebration in Florida.
Thank you, President Trump. God bless Venezuela.
Others, like these anti-war protesters outside the White House, are frustrated.
It is time for the United States to stop this imperialist agenda, to stop invading.
other countries. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer is criticizing the Trump administration
for not seeking congressional authorization before the attack. But Republican Florida
Congressman Carlos Jimenez sees it differently. He is the illegitimate leader of a cartel that
poses a threat to the United States. Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and his wife are now in a
New York detention center and will face drug and weapons charges in Manhattan federal court. Karen Paul's,
CBC News, Washington.
While many Venezuelan exiles are welcoming the developments,
leftist groups are denouncing the American attack.
As Karen Paul's just mentioned, that includes some protesters outside the White House.
And in Paris, demonstrators burned the U.S. flag and denounced the attack,
demanding Maduro's release, and that American forces leave Venezuel.
Venezuela. Anti-American protests were held in a number of cities, including Athens, Rome, and in
Bogota. In other news, rental supply is up and demand is down. The Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation says this is because of new bills and reduced immigration, but affordability is still a
challenge for many renters and many units are sitting empty. Michelle Allen reports.
Tenants rights organizer Charlene Henry has lived in a Toronto apartment building for nearly 20 years.
Now she's seeing more empty units than ever.
There shouldn't be so many vacant units when people are crouch surfing
and there are people on the streets.
The 2025 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation rental reports
his supply is up and demand it's down,
thanks to new builds and reduced population growth.
Advocates and experts say the new housing that is being built
isn't affordable for lower income renters.
Steve Pomeroy is a professor with the Canadian Housing Evidence Collaborative at McMaster.
The new stuff that's coming on the market at $2,500, $3,000 a month
really isn't helping.
for that particular income group.
Revinder Kalan is BC's Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth.
The federal government has made a commitment to increase funding,
but have not done so.
And we need that funding because there are some housing units
that are so low as far as rents that the market can't produce them.
Kalaan says governments need to do more
to provide affordable housing for low-income families.
Michelle Allen, CBC News, Toronto.
A new scoring record for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Matthews!
It is 421, and the Maple Leafs have a new, all-time goal-scoring leader, and they'll empty the bench to congratulate the captain.
Austin Matthews broke Matt Sundane's old mark of 420 career goals Saturday night in a game against the New York Islanders.
Matthews' 421st goal put the Leafs out in front, but it didn't last.
The aisles won for three.
Matthews is now fourth in all-time franchise points.
That is The World This Hour for CBC News.
I'm Mike Miles.
