A multinational force for Ukraine is just one pledge, coalition members also promised to monitor

the ceasefire, support Ukraine's armed forces, and step in if Russia attacks again. On the sidelines of that Paris meeting, leaders were discussing a different issue. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeated his threat to take over Greenland, possibly by force. The White House issued a statement saying it's in the national interest. Tom Perry reports. In a statement today, the White House called acquiring Greenland an important foreign policy goal and pointedly refused to rule out military action. Denmark's prime minister, Meta Fredrickson, says the question needs to be taken at face value. The American president should be taken seriously when he says he wants Greenland, she says.

But I also want to make clear that if the United States chooses to attack another NATO country, then everything stops, including NATO. Mark Carney met the Danish PM at the Paris summit and announced Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and Governor General Mary Simon would visit Greenland next month to open a new Canadian consulate. Meantime, U.S. President Donald Trump and other American officials say they're ready to take over Venezuela's oil resources. It comes days after the capture of President Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces. Katie Simpson has more from Washington. Nobody could have done that. Nobody has our weapons. Trump is now suggesting U.S. involvement in Venezuela will be a long-term commitment. In comments made to NBC News, he said the country needs to be nursed back to health before elections can be held,

signaling his priority is seeking American access to Venezuela's vast oil reserves. I'm also meeting with oil companies. Let's go. You know what that's about. A lot of oil to drill, which is going to bring down. oil prices even further. That meeting could take place as early as Thursday. And while Trump has provided no specifics and no plan, he says he thinks Venezuela's oil industry can be revitalized in less than 18 months. At this point, it's unclear whether the remaining Maduro regime will cooperate with the Trump

We're following a tragic story in Nova Scotia. A 13-year-old boy named Drew Nickerson has died from his injuries after being attacked by three dogs over the weekend. It happened in the rural community of Walsh Town on Saturday,

about 215 kilometers west of Halifax. Barbara Lloyd is a dog behavior expert. One of them could have led the charge, and then as the attack was proceeding, maybe if this poor child was screaming, that could have elicited kind of a prey drive in the other two and a kill factor. Police say the dogs were euthanized by a veterinarian. After teetering on the edge of a strike last month, air transat pilots have voted to ratify a five-year employment contract.
