grainy video shows troops fast roping off a helicopter hovering over the oil tanker and boarding the ship
It was originally known as the Bello One, but had recently changed its flag to Russia.
It slipped through the U.S. maritime blockade of sanctioned tankers
and refused to allow American forces to board it.
The seizure is part of the Trump administration's push to dictate oil flows in its backyard
and force Venezuela's socialist government to cooperate.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. is selectively rolling back sanctions
to allow the sale of oil on the sea.
tankers. We are about to execute on a deal to take all the oil. They have oil that is stuck in Venezuela.
They can't move it because of our quarantine and because it's sanctioned. We are going to take
between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil. We're going to sell it in the marketplace at market
rates. Russia is describing the seizure as outright piracy. Karen Paul's, CBC News, Washington.
The White House says its plans to annex Greenland are moving full speed ahead. In recent days,
the Trump administration has renewed its interest in the Arctic Island, a self-governing
territory belonging to Denmark.
Spokesperson Caroline Levitt says if diplomacy doesn't work, the U.S. could take it by force.
She says President Donald Trump wants it for national security reasons.
He views it in the best interests of the United States to deter Russian and Chinese aggression
in the Arctic region.
And so that's why his team is currently talking about what a potential purchase would look like.
Greenland, Denmark, and several European countries have condemned U.S. interest in annexing
the island.

Secretary of Homeland Security, Christy Knoem, called it terrorism.
This goes to show the assaults that are ICE officers and our law enforcement are under every single day.
These vehicle rammings are domestic acts of terrorism.
But Democratic Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fry says that's not.
what happened. The narrative that this was just done in self-defense is a garbage narrative.
That is not true. It has no truth. The incident has drawn dozens of angry protesters to the site.
Blowing whistles and shouting at federal agents and local police. An independent panel is calling for
an overhaul of Calgary's water system. The panel says decades of underfunding led to two
catastrophic failures of the city's main water feeder line. Erin Collins reports. This is an
emergency situation. Siegfried Kiefer says Calgary's water system needs a complete overhaul. The chair
of an independent review panel says a lack of oversight, the city's growth and repeated deferrals
of maintenance led to two failures of the city's largest water feeder main. Decisions to divert
or delay projects was done without an understanding of what the long-term implications of that
work. Calgarians are being asked to conserve water for the second time in 18 months after the
pipe burst again last week. And Kiefer says replacement of the pipe scheduled to take two years
should be sped up. We all don't need to go to sleep at night thinking, well, maybe tomorrow I won't
be able to have my shower. The report says no single mayor or council is to blame for the current
situation but insists that Calgary's water utility should be transformed into an independent corporation
owned by the city. Aaron Collins, CBC News, Calgary.
The Quebec Superior Court has authorized a class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster.
The plaintiffs accusing it of charging abusive service fees on ticket sales.
The lawsuit says those fees fluctuate based on ticket prices instead of the actual cost of the service provided.
The claims have not been tested in court.
That is The World This Hour.
