This ascent isn't for everyone.
You need grit to climb this high this often.
You've got to be an underdog that always over-delivers.
You've got to be 6,500 hospital staff, 1,000 doctors,
all doing so much with so little.
You've got to be Scarborough.
Defined by our uphill battle and always striving towards new heights.
And you can help us keep climbing.

from CBC News, the world this hour. I'm Neil Hurland. A vigil is happening tonight in
Minneapolis for the woman shot dead by U.S. immigration and customs enforcement or
ICE agents. Minnesota's Democratic governor, Tim Walts, expressing anger. This was
so, so preventable. Do you have no decency? Do you have no decency? Do you have no
decency. U.S. Homeland Security says the woman was threatening to run over agents with her vehicle,
calling it a terrorist act. Waltz and the city's mayor say that description is ridiculous,
and the real danger comes from the increase in immigration agents. We've been warning for weeks
that the Trump administration's dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to our public safety,
that someone was going to get hurt. Just yesterday, I said exactly that. What we're seeing is the
consequences of governance designed to generate fear, headlines in conflict. And today, that
recklessness costs someone their life. Minneapolis police say the victim was not the target of an
ice operation. Local media identify her as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. The White House is
laying out a more detailed plan for Venezuela. After capturing the country's president, U.S. officials
now want to take over the country's oil. Katie Simpson has more. Step one is the stabilization
of the country. We don't want it descending into chaos.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio
says the U.S. has a three-point
plan. It's aiming to execute.
Once the country is stabilized
in step one, he described
a second phase to rehabilitate
Venezuela's oil industry. Ensuring
that American, Western, and other companies
have access to the Venezuela market a way that's fair.
The Trump administration says
Venezuela has agreed to hand over
up to 50 million barrels of
oil to be sold at market value
with the U.S. determining how
the money is spent. This is an insane plan. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy is among the lawmakers
given a classified briefing about the Trump administration's strategy. They are talking about stealing
the Venezuelan oil at gunpoint. Trump is set to meet with American oil executives Friday as he
looks for private sector buy-in to his plan. Katie Simpson, CBC News, Washington. The White House says
it plans to annex Greenland and it's moving ahead full speed. In recent days, the Trump administration has
renewed its interest in the Arctic Island, a self-governing territory belonging to Denmark.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt says if diplomacy doesn't work, the U.S. could take it by force.
She says President Donald Trump wants it for national security reasons.
He views it in the best interests of the United States to deter Russian and Chinese aggression
in the Arctic region. And so that's why his team is currently talking about what a potential
purchase would look like.
There is immense grief in southwestern Nova Scotia over the shocking death of a young boy.
The child was mauled over the weekend by three dogs.
The CBC's Kayla Hounsel is in the community tonight as people try to deliver some support
to a distraught family searching for answers.
He was such a sweet boy.
Drew Nickerson was 13 years old.
A grade 8 student riding his bike home from a friend's house when police say three large
dogs ran out into the road and attacked him. They were all friends. The dogs knew Drew. Drew knew
the dogs. Trish Harris is a friend of Drew's mother, Don. Don told me that's what Drew really,
really liked about living there. He loved the outdoors. The RCMP says the attack happened in the
community of Welshtown in southwestern Nova Scotia just after 5 p.m. on Saturday. Drew was
airlifted to Halifax. He died Monday. Drilling down on exactly how that occurred, I
just can't comment on that as of yet.
Staff Sergeant Mark McPherson says
neither his detachment nor animal control
had received any previous complaints
about the dogs involved in the attack.
All three have now been euthanine.
Kayla Hounsel, CBC News, Welshtown, Nova Scotia.
Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet with the premieres
in person later this month.
The summit will come after Carney holds talks
with China's leadership and before a mandatory review
of the Canada-U-S-Mexico trade deal.
And that is your world this hour. I'm Neil Hurland.
