Ladies and gentlemen, one of the great Canadians.
Oh, here you are.
You're here and we're here.
No matter what race you were, what color you were, what religion you were, what language you spoke, you watched Mr. Dressup.
The tickle trunk was this magical like Pandora's Box.
I'm talking about Captain Dressup.
Mr. Dressup, the magic of make-believe.
You made me what I am today.
You know that.

from cbc news the world this hour i'm kate mcgilfrey minnesota officials are pushing to be allowed to work on a federal investigation into the shooting death of a woman yesterday a 37-year-old was fatally shot in her car by a federal immigration agent and the investigation is now being conducted solely by the f p i disputing claims about what led to her death have caused widespread anger in minnesota willie lowry reporting
HOMLAND Security Secretary Christy Noem doubled down on the administration's assertion that the killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was justified.
He's an experienced officer that has served a number of years, and we recognize that he acted according to his training.
The FBI is investigating the incident, but it appears to be doing so without the help of Minnesota's own criminal investigative bureau.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walls pleaded with federal authorities to allow state investigators to help in the interest of transparency.
It feels very, very difficult that we will get a fair outcome.
And I say that only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment.
The only way we find the answers is a thorough investigation.
Protests have erupted in the city with demonstrators facing off against federal agents.
Willie Lowry, CBC News, Washington.
In Iran, protesters have taken to the streets in a ground swell on the 11th day of demonstrations.
Crowds have been heard chanting, death to Iran's supreme leader.
Human rights groups say at least 40 protesters and four security officers have been killed since these protests began.
Today, internet and phone access were cut in the country.
The demonstrations started with shopkeepers in Tehran, angry about the country.
country's economic crisis. They quickly spread to cities across the country. Sanctions,
government mismanagement and corruption have pushed the value of Iran's currency to record lows
and pushed the inflation rate up to 40%. Calgary officials say repairs to a water main break are
progressing, but water supply levels are still in trouble. The breakdown happened more than a week
ago. As a result, another treatment plant is delivering three times the amount of water it normally would.
Calgary has been urging its residents to flush only when needed and reduce their shower time.
Emergency Management Chief Susan Henry says the current levels of water use are unsustainable.
To meet the kind of demand we've been seeing, we are operating at full tilt.
We are unable to perform anything beyond basic maintenance.
This situation puts our system at a greater risk than we would like.
While the damaged pipe has now been replaced, officials say several critical repair steps remain.
They estimate it could take another week for the water main to get back online.
New data shows shares of Canadian exports heading to the United States
have hit some of the lowest levels in decades.
Ani Sadari has those details.
This is the lowest percentage measured since 1997 if you exclude the height of the pandemic.
The share of total Canadian exports heading to the United States hit that low in October,
according to statistics Canada.
The numbers were a bit delayed because of the U.S. government shut down.
Going in the other direction, imports to Canada,
from the U.S., they increased by 5.3%, and total imports to Canada from everywhere were up by more
than 3%. In October, Canadians brought in a lot more computers and computer parts in record numbers.
October's numbers also showed a trade deficit with the world after a surplus the month before.
Overall, Canadian exporters are still facing confusion and a lack of clarity over U.S. tariffs,
plus upcoming renegotiations around the Kusma trade agreement.
So it's unclear whether there will be improvements in the near future.
Any Tadari, CBC News, Calgary.
And Canadian Airlines have cut the number of flights to the U.S. over the past year.
After Canada, U.S. flight volumes fell more than 14 percent year over year in the fourth quarter.
With trips to Florida, California, and Nevada, seeing some of the biggest drops.
Instead, Canadian carriers are ramping up service to the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and South America.
That's the world this hour.
For CBC News.
