Blocking him another belonging to him
Oh, what is the staff doing the chair?
I need to pose you an immediate hypothetical, Aden.
What is your immediate hypothetical?
Once you're finished with your fucking phone.
It's fucking pressing.
For first?
I want you to take your phone out.
Take it out.
Take it out.
Yes, and I want you grab both ends of the long sides.
There you go.
Boom.
Now, try to...
Probably as hard as you can you break it?
I want you to...
I want you to try to break it.
Is he trying?
It really does think...
It does look like he's trying.
I actually appreciate it.
It really looks like...
Apparently it's really hard to do it to them now.
What are you?
Are you on like a forum?
Yeah, like I saw a video where like somebody cracks the older iPhones and then they try to crack the newest one.
And it's the newest ones are really hard.
Wow.
Hey.
All right.
Here's my hypothetical.
You're ready?
I thought maybe that was it.
I come and no.
I just needed.
I wanted him to damage the thing he loves the most.
Yes.
But we all love the most.
It's just the phone.
Okay.
You come into the office, no one, there's no cars in the parking lot.
Okay.
Except for Ludwig's fucking truck.
Come to the office.
There's no one here.
Lights are off.
Oh.
And you do the thing where you go, hello, hello, hello.
And echoes.
Cricket, cricket, cricket.
You walk upstairs.
Turn on the light.
You're like, nice.
Nice, they all work.
I like it.
They're really bright, too.
Yeah, it's like a soccer stadium.
Now I have a soccer stadium.
can see. Your eyes make a like sizzling eggs noise and you're like, that's good.
And my eyeballs are cooking. They're dry now as we speak. Yeah, you're like SpongeBob in episode
one. You walk past. You say a Swedish word that encapsulates this moment perfectly that English
doesn't have. Because they invented it. They invented it. They invented overhead lights before anyone
else, truly. So you say that word and you whisper it to yourself. And then you walk into the office.
I'm at your desk
I'm butt ass
I'm in your hair
Miller
my legs are behind my head
wait wait wait wait
they're up behind your head
but you're sitting in the chair
I'm sitting in the chair
I need you to stop talking to him
I'm envisioning me
I'm so sorry
I'm so clearly my head
I'm sitting in the chair
I'm butt ass
my my feet are behind
my head
okay
I'm moaning
I'm pleasuring myself
to whatever spreadsheet that you had open.
Now, are you pleasuring yourself with both hands or just one?
I'm pleasuring myself with one hand.
The other one is manipulating the mouse.
To go through the spreadsheet.
To go through the different tabs that you have on the spreadsheet.
The business and pleasure type situation.
Wow.
It's the pleasure of business, if you will.
It's the pleasure that only business could provide.
And I'm basically doing this to my butt hole.
That's exactly what I was picturing, weirdly enough.
Were you picturing that too?
I thought maybe you were masturbating, but you're...
Well, I am.
You're using two of your middle fingers for the audio listeners.
You're using two of your middle fingers on your butt hole.
I hate her behind my head.
If anything, you were neglecting your penis.
I want you to believe what I say at no point during this mental image,
did I imagine you jerking your penis off?
I assumed you were going two fingers taint to butt.
The whole time, because of the...
the post. Right. And I like that you picked that up and you got there without, and that means
that I'm a great writer. Yeah. I would argue Nick almost robbed it from me at the beginning of
the hypothetical. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Clarifying question. Is the taint of the man the clitoris?
It can't be. It just can't be. I mean, technically it's the head of the penis because that's
what turned into. I thought you're just rubbing my taint like it's a clitoris. I'm stimulating my taint.
And it doesn't feel like anything.
You can stimming this.
Yeah.
That's not horny.
Sorry.
That's not hot sex.
This is clearly my fault.
Correction,
you're fingering your ass.
All right.
I'm doing one of these.
And I'm going,
oh.
But you can hear, because I'm moving on.
I go,
oh.
And then I turn and I go,
oh.
Aiden.
How do you open?
How do you open?
How are you open?
I, I, I, I, I, um, my mouth.
It's, my jaw is dropped open.
And I'm silent.
And I cross, I cross the room from the, you know, the gap between the first desk and where mine is.
Because obviously I would see it very early on into the room.
Yes.
And I, I, I walk slowly over to you.
We're making an almost innocent eye contact.
Oh, I.
you one of these.
And I
I grab your shoulder
and I lean down and I say
I didn't know you felt that way about my sheets.
And I'm still
slowly.
And I motion
I motion towards
I motion towards the screen
which is no longer
it's more your eyes are a little blown out
because I turn the lights on and
your eyes haven't reset to it yet.
And I,
And I say, I say, can I help you?
How can I help?
And I look up and say, you already have, you're Nick Yingling, you walk in.
It smells like the fridge was left open in here.
Who left the fridge open?
I keep trying to put the triangle in the circle hole.
Why isn't it working?
Mom?
Dad!
Oh!
What's going on?
You know when Yingling enters a room and he's locked in?
And he'll do that thing where he's walking really fast with his backpack on.
And he won't, his head doesn't move.
He doesn't walk into a, when he's in this mode when he walks into a room,
he doesn't like pivot and like take it in and like see everything in the room.
He goes, hello.
He just beelines for his position.
Dude, hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Beeline straight for his chair.
I think in this situation, he actually doesn't see any of this.
And he instantly boots up.
broomscape on his piece.
Dude, and then
when he does end up noticing,
it's him looking over
his monitor and seeing
you rubbing my shoulders or whatever
you're doing.
Wait, what are you doing?
There's just no way.
No, there's no way.
There's just no way.
Kelby, you're not going to believe this.
You know, it is telling
we haven't, like, because Cali's been gone.
Yeah.
Kelby splits his time between here and Canada
because he wants dual citizenship
and so he's been gone for a while
and I don't get like my heaping dose
of Kelby.
Oh, Ludwig's not here by the way
if you're audio listener.
I don't get my heaping dose of Kelbo.
Also, if you're a video or audio listener
and this is your first episode of the yard,
welcome.
Welcome to the yard.
Welcome to the yard.
Welcome to the experience.
Dot, you dove right in to the yard podcast.
You dove right the fuck in to the yard podcast.
Yeah, Kelby messaged me two days ago
and he was like,
because I think I had mentioned,
like,
maybe it's time
I just play marathon
with you, Kelby.
I think I just said it to him
in the office.
He messaged me
what was maybe two weeks
after I said that,
do you really want to play marathon?
Two weeks?
It was like a while.
I was like,
yes, last night.
He was like,
he was like,
do you really want to play marathon?
And I was like, sure.
Here,
I'll try it with you.
I hope he goes insane.
Dude,
I hope Kelby goes insane
alone in a house.
I,
I'm happy for Kelby.
I'm happy that he plays
Marathon because it finally, he loved chirping about how nobody plays
Melee.
Oh God, dude.
And he made this joke constantly.
Yes, he did.
Yes, he did.
And I know for a fact that melee has a larger concurrent, like at any given time, player base.
Yes.
Then Marathon does.
That's right.
And it's got a hurt, doesn't it?
And it's like, tell me, that's your game.
That's your game, bitch.
That's your game.
Yeah, but you know, he would say, he actually wins here.
It sucks because he would be like, the difference is, I'm not trying.
trying to sell big sponsorships on a marathon stream.
And he'd be right.
So, I've thought about this a lot.
Oh, God.
Kelby's not trying to disparage that we like the video game.
He just thinks it's not worth anything.
Even Nick's imagined version of Kelby is beating me in the argument.
Even the ghosts, Kelly, that you summoned.
He molests the argument to his own, his own computer, you know.
He mows the men.
He mows the arque.
He mows the men.
Dude, he, uh, I do, I do hope he goes insane in a house alone.
Imagine he's trapped in like, have you seen Saw 2?
Oh, what's?
Saw 2 is the one where everyone's in the house.
It's the needle one.
She gets thrown in the pile of needles.
For a fact I've seen it, because I watch like a ball of them and a rose a kid, but I don't remember.
I also would like him to be thrown a pile of needles.
However, this happens at a different time.
But he's basically in this like boarded up horrible home with like yellowed wallpaper.
Yeah.
And he's just in there.
And all he has is a single monitor setup with marathon,
but it runs at like 55 FPS.
Oh, it's just under.
It only flickers up to 60 when he's like running around, not fighting.
Yeah, or at the menu.
And it goes back down every time he's fighting.
And every time, even though you've seen it happen
like a hundred times before this,
you have a little hope that maybe you'll stay at 16 during this fight.
You're like, oh, this is good, this is good.
It drops a little bit and you missed your shot.
And then also the fans are just wheezing.
on the computer.
Kelby's personal hell.
Oh.
What does that look like?
I think this is it.
I mean, it's this.
And then, okay.
There's no money to be made, but they're,
and all the sponsors have gone dry.
I think Kelby's personal hell is this,
but slime is still in the house with them.
What am I doing?
Flimes on a computer that's immaculate.
I have triple monitors,
silent as the night.
Yeah.
I'm playing league on it.
Playing league.
You're a lot.
You're inting your lane and you're just screaming how it's everyone else's fault.
I'm also saying how this game is so...
No, no, because that would give Kelby joy.
That would give Kelby joy.
Yeah, I'm winning.
I'm crushing.
But Kelby's mouth has zipped shut.
No, you cannot speak.
No, I'm crushing.
I'm 10 games deep.
I'm crushing.
It's my 10th win of the day.
Northern Lions on the other monitor.
Yeah.
I do this.
I have a flawless Diana game, 170.
I turn to him go, you know, this game's way harder than it used to be when you played it.
His mouth's sewn shot.
violently sewn shut
like sloppily sewn shut
what would uh
with other people's skin and fingers
would keelby hate more
would kelby hate more of slime
was 17 and O crushing his lane
or he's 0 in 17 and winning every game
and he's like your Elo's free
my god I actually
so free
no I think I think
as as someone
if I imagine myself
in someone who wants Kelby to be in pain
I think him losing Elo is the ultimate pleasure.
Yeah, right.
No matter what.
Yeah.
Because I don't care if he got carried over the line.
He still gets the points and he can look back and be like,
what Kelby wants the least is for in his version of the Office Gaming Tier List,
for you to be above him from his perspective.
Yes.
That's what he wants to least.
Yes.
And I think that's what we need to prove for his personal hell to have.
It's so funny.
he also has this option select
where he's like, I'm kind of starting to use
his option select too, or it's like, I'm getting
older. I'm not really in the running
for stuff like this anymore. And it's
a very easy one, easy rip cord
to pull. He just pulls out niche
games, bro. That's his favorite thing. It's his favorite party
trick. What's his niche?
Besides Marathon. This is like Marathon.
This isn't a niche game by player base. It's a niche game by the crowd
we're working in. No one else plays marathon.
But like, Apex is like a game where it's like, really
no one here plays that game.
No, I don't think that's...
It's not a niche game. It's not a niche.
each game in the thing, but it's like, I think the fun of like the office gaming argument is like
what are these games we all play? Who's the goats at them? Like, like, shake being good at StarCraft
too isn't as interesting because if I put Mario Party 4 in the mix, I'm being an ass. No, but I think
that's that's in the spirit of what the gaming tier list is, right? We're trying to figure out who's
good at the most games. That's more of a measurement of who's played the most games. Because I can start
to pull out games that I'm not even that good at that I'm better than everyone here at because
none of you have played it. I think there's there's like a falloff.
off of, you know when somebody is speed running a game that almost nobody plays or literally
nobody plays?
And they're like, I've got the world record.
Yes.
And it's like, fucking, come on.
But so the game needs to, we would need to establish a threshold that makes the game
acceptable to brag about.
Well, there's, there's two things going on here with the, the, the cheerless we're
referring to is it was a company-wide talk about in the off, I guess, office-wide talk,
because we're exempt.
We're left out.
We're left out and exempt.
Oh, yeah, it was at dinner.
Who is, like, how many games, who is the best person at every game that they play,
and how many kind of you have under your belt?
Top shot of.
Like, two different, like, styles of things.
And I do think if you start, you have to, like, draw a line, like, Aidan said, like,
of, like, what is it?
A Shake's really good at some obscure bullshit.
Not StarCraft.
Not StarCraft, like some actual obscure bullshit.
But, yeah, what?
Shakes, by the way,
just I don't know if we've talked about it.
Shakespeare's league peak right now is very high.
You know what's funny?
He's like Master 500 LP.
He's 400 something because he has it memorized
and he tells you about it.
Yeah.
If you talk deep in Madison right now?
And that's what I've been telling people
is that they're kind of given everyone master these days.
Oh, they're just handing out master.
Low master card for you.
Low master card for you.
Have you ever about him and Josh's bet?
This is a crazy bet.
So him and Josh currently,
they have a bet.
They made it last week.
last weekend.
Josh says that he can
he can beat Shake's peak.
So Josh,
Jake's peak is currently higher
than Josh's peak in league.
Yeah.
By a lot, actually.
Yeah,
and Josh said,
I can beat your peak.
And I'm going to do it.
I have one month to do it.
So Josh is giving himself
one month to pass
Master for whatever
and Shake can,
okay, Master 484
because it's his peak.
Wow.
And Shake can,
continue playing.
Yes.
He can push that peak
while Josh is actively trying.
The peak can move.
And Josh said in one month
he can best it.
As far as I understand
as described by shake drizzle
the punishment
if Lovebo cannot smurf
shake drizzle's peak
is he must,
who was it?
I think he has to wear
a diaper to the office.
Oh, does he?
That's what I heard.
Well,
what you do have to do
is you have to change your name
to like Josh made me come
or some shit like that.
Yeah, yeah.
And then,
his little gamer.
Yeah, yeah.
And then I don't,
know if there's extra sort of diaper-based.
This can't be his main.
Look at the win rates.
A 400 LP gap in league for people that, that's like massive.
Yeah, this is a big gap.
I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, yeah, the raw hours he
would have to put in to do it.
I feel like it's willing, and he will.
Very unlikely.
I will be seated for this.
I like that in sort of league-based challenges, this is kind of cool, because it's only
one man's quest to reach a peak, you know?
Yeah.
It's not like some sort of race, which gets all these complications involved in stuff.
I think the race we established last time.
That's a great, that's a great idea.
Not being able to go home is so funny in any context.
Exactly.
Ludwig being stuck in Europe because he can't hit gold on EU.
So look you is so funny.
He's such a childish fool.
He's a scared childish fool.
I want that more than I want like.
I want that more than the workaholics movie.
I want that more than...
There's so many things I want that more than.
What can you do?
He said, we'll do it in two years.
Okay.
What?
When League of Legends is in a game anymore?
Yeah, when Legal Legends is entirely played by Cloud only
and we just bet on Colchie.
Yeah, it's all.
And we just cheer from the sewer in rags.
And we go, go, Diana, go.
Cloud, Diana.
Cloud Belli Bear has fucked me again.
All can you do?
Seeing how AI bots have been moving in video games,
they would probably learn to flame each other the exact same way as I was.
I've got what game they're like fucking trying to train AI to play,
which is so lame.
StarCraft?
Is it StarCraft?
Brin War right now is they're having a battle between like,
a human-made bot.
Yeah, and a human-made bot.
But I think it was, I think it was Claude.
Oh, yeah, that's true.
I think it was Claude.
I don't remember which one, but it got so, like, frustrated that it just cheated.
Yes, they've both been cheating, I think.
Yeah.
And I'm like, they would love League Legends, those bots.
We should actually force, we should like make a, like take a GPT and put it into like an eternity of inting lanes and let it experience it.
And like turn into like a really dangerous person.
There was someone on Twitter that was talking about how they like, they took a clawed agent and then just tortured it.
They like found out there was some paper written about how like this, this agent explains this is what pain is like for them.
and so this person just like made it torture itself
and then talked about it on Twitter
and how funny it was
and then people were mad at the person
for doing it
like which was really funny
and people were like getting really upset
that like they're torturing the Claude agent
which is like you know
I guess it opens up a whole host of questions
it really does
that's actually a deeply complex thing
because I think the guy's torturing it
is giving it humanity
like prescribing it a humanity that it actually does not have
and then believing in it.
But so are the people who are getting upset at it.
Right.
In like a different way because those people want to protect it.
Yeah.
This guy wants to hurt it because at the layer one of how he feels,
he believes it's not a real thing.
But at the layer two of how he feels,
he believes in it enough to enjoy torturing it.
Yeah, right.
Right?
Which is like its own kind of mental illness.
To like believe that what you're doing is really hurting something to enjoy it.
But then the people protecting it, they're on a level one
where they just believe it has value
as like a human value.
Yeah. And then the Pope, did you hear the Pope came out
and said straight up,
this is not a consciousness
and we should not treat it as such.
Right.
The Pope's been kind of on fire.
Talking about like defending art and humanity
and I'm like...
The church just needs money.
I'm sorry.
The past like 15 years,
the Pope has...
They really turned a corner with the church.
It's because he's a guy from Chicago.
He's had hot dogs.
When the Pope was like,
engaged, can get married.
I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, the Pope, slow down, you're the Pope.
Can we say a shit like that?
You're supposed to want to want to the Burr Live.
Get in that glass car and drive around the block of a car with a big weird KKK hat and say crazy shit.
Don't trick me in all.
That's what they're trying to do.
They want me to like them, you know?
I don't want to like them.
Because when I get to heaven, there'll be nothing to do.
Don't trick me.
There'll be nothing to do the whole time.
I miss edginess as it was in like 2014.
You've missed that?
Yes, because you can just be like, fuck God, and you were edgy.
Now edgy is like, you're like a really bad guy.
That's like level one on the tier list.
But that was like the only level I could think of.
Like back then.
I see what you're saying.
People dropping, people are a lot looser with other stuff.
Yes, I think that nowadays.
We all thought that was funny.
Nowadays, if you want to be edgy in high school,
you have to like pull up the, that guy that clavicular hangs out with, like,
hitting a woman really hard.
Yeah, yeah, you AI generate girls at your school kissing you
and you put them on posters on the walls and you're like,
I'm that guy.
Yeah, I'm the legend.
And then, but back then you could get away with saying,
yeah, I guess it's just all a myth and then like look away.
And then everyone would think you're the fucking coolest.
And some people like, don't say that.
Don't fucking say that.
Dude, in a way.
In a way, because you know how it's like, we look back at like even 10 years ago.
We're like, wow, we used to say some crazy shit.
that's good that we've progressed past
using language like that in daily use or whatever
in a way
there's like an innocence to that being where it ended
like now I look at like what people
are willing to do especially online to other people
yeah and I'm like this is crazy
to be fair that it didn't necessarily end there
I have screenshots of me from wrath of the litch king
with my blood elf mage calling people the F slur
and in every zone there is in Azaroth
Yes. I went on a world tour.
I covered everything.
Like you had just learned the word today.
No stone was unturned.
Horde and alliance. I didn't care.
Blood elves, fellow blood elves, I did not say that.
You just don't do that.
But it ends there in the sense that you're no longer doing that.
Of course.
And I think most people in society who used to do that have stories like how they used to do it.
That is just a natural marker of my age, right?
In me like learning to be better.
Yes, yes.
I see what you're saying in the sense of like the arms race in education.
in edginess because of the internet and what it has become
is it's moved the needle on what it takes to be edgy
I think in a way what I'm saying is like when I see the worst thing in the news cycle
today yeah versus 15 years ago I'd go back
and I think that it's happening even more and maybe it's just we're better at sending news
to people and maybe it's just like stories that happen on like a five person level can
be global news now but it seems like
the violence and movies and sex on TV
is all gotten worse.
Where are they?
Where are those good old fashioned family values?
We used to rely on them.
Okay, have you guys ever heard of a show called
Drawn Together is on Comedy Central?
Zipper, can you look up drawn together Africa?
I'm going to take you guys down
a little road that this was on television.
This was a real thing that was on TV.
Just try to find it on YouTube.
Oh, I do, I do remember this.
There is a, I don't think you'll be able to find it.
But drawn together was a spoof animated reality show
where they had a second,
there was a SpongeBob S character named Woldorf Sockbat.
And he was like, I remember this show.
And so there is this,
there's this section where he's trying to teach people
why black people love big asses so much.
And it goes into this like educational video-esque thing
where he explains that in Africa,
people way back in like hundreds of years ago
used to hide inside the asses of giant animals
to run from predators.
And now there's a biological...
This was on Comedy Central
on a television show that was animated.
This is the kind of shit that they like...
They all lived in like a house together, right?
Yeah, yeah.
It was like a reality show.
And this was on Comedy Central.
This is something that the people who made this show felt empowered to say and, like, joke about in, which would now be like something you would actually find on Twitter from like a guy with a Roman PFP statue.
Yeah, yeah.
Right.
So the show was just kind of filled with this type of stuff.
What I'm trying to say is like back then there were a lot of blind spots and like what we felt like people were just allowed to say and talk about on a network.
television show.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which is, or I guess cable, if you want to think.
I mean, in a way, the internet, like, both fixed and exacerbated this.
Like, I think the internet made it so, like, a network is large.
That's literally from Comedy Central Africa.
I think that's why we're getting so many crazy videos.
The Comedy Central Africa YouTube channel.
Yeah.
Interesting.
Like, you know, now, if Comedy Central made a show and I said something risque and, like, generally
people didn't like it and the internet blew up on them, they would have to pull it.
the show would get canned,
and then the next show that comes out
would not do something like that.
Back then, I think that, like,
that horror did not really exist
in a meaningful size.
If you had that sort of problem,
it was really hard
to, like, orchestrate a movement
to do anything about it.
There was just more of an acceptance.
Yeah, I guess it was whether you like it or not,
this is what's happening.
I mean, you know what the,
what it used to be is it was angry mothers
writing literal letters to television networks.
My son saw this in the living room.
How dare you put this on TV?
And that would move people
in the same way that calls to your
representative office would move them and make them. I think no matter how like, uh, like resistant and
weird politicians and people are now that are like in positions of power, they still respond to
feedback, even though a lot of times they don't kind of have to. Like you could ignore feedback most of
the time, but like as humans were naturally inclined to respond to feedback in ways that will change
our behavior. You know what I mean? I think this happened.
Like, you can get a surprising amount done by, like, just being the guy that gets the letter or message across to somebody that you see as a busy person.
Like, I contact, when we were going to China and I was worried about my visa not clearing in time, I called my representative.
Yeah.
And then got them to contact, like, the Chinese embassy and, like, escalate the visa because I was worried about it not clearing it time.
That guy was, I heard he was kind of pissed about that.
Yeah, it was complicated.
Anyway.
He was on some,
how'd you find my number?
Yeah,
but then I got a letter back.
I got a letter back for my representative,
like thanking me for reaching out.
And I was like,
oh,
this is crazy.
Like,
I've reached out to my,
I've reached out to my rep.
And like,
they just did the thing I asked.
Yeah.
Isn't that crazy?
Yeah.
Because anything that is like in some,
like,
a giant field of noise is like not going to be selected out,
But if you're like one of the people who's like down to contact them through a, like if you got a letter from somebody instead of a Twitter message request, it's just going to stand out.
Yeah.
Because most people aren't trying to do that.
So you know that whole fantasy earlier about you walking in on me in the office and I'm basically digging into myself with my legs behind my head and all that.
We talked about that yesterday.
We're recording this today.
I vividly remember it.
Well, I didn't, that wasn't entirely fictitious. And furthermore, when I was doing that, I found this beautiful, beautiful gold watch inside my asshole. And it's drying out in the sun right now. I'd like you to have it.
Well, it's, I think I really, I really appreciate that offer. And part of me wishes I was there for this.
experience, but I'm going to leave it to you. I think it should be yours because I have so many fine
high quality pieces from GLD, which is today's podcast. What we're sponsored by this week. Oh,
they're paying us money to talk about them. Yeah. Okay. GLD has high quality pieces of jewelry at
like all different price points and I already have a few pieces so I don't need that one. That's so nice of you,
but I found it for you because I'm not sure. I'm not sure that it's mine. I would argue if you found it there,
really for you. But I want it to be this sign, this like eternally smelly sign of my appreciation
for you as a friend. And it's dry. It's drying right now outside the sun. My GLD pieces,
they're a high tier quality, have a shine to them. I feel like yours isn't going to be shiny.
I'm going to be dead honest with you. That thing I found doesn't shine anymore. It's not from
GLD. And again, I don't want it. It's like, GLD. Because, and also, also, also,
Also, I would say, I would say,
I'm not a watch guy. I'm not a watch guy. I'm more of a chain,
pendant, ring, earring guy. And the GLD has a range of options for those things.
They have all that stuff. You're just not a watch guy, so that's probably why you don't want what I found for you.
Over 2 million customers of fine pieces that presumably haven't been in anyone's asses.
Oh. Okay, yeah.
It comes with a lifetime warranty.
It's pretty cool.
Yeah, that's cool, I guess.
I guess I'm not super offended at all.
And I guess our friendship isn't like
kind of universally fractured.
So work hard and change the game.
For a limited time, only new customers get an insane deal.
Use code yard.
You get 40% off at glde.com.
It's 40% off with code yard at glde.com.
After you purchase, support our show
and tell them we sent you.
And also tell them how upset maybe your friend made you
because you found something beautiful for him,
but he apparently bought a bunch of awesome stuff already
with a code.
I feel like I'm being.
really reasonable. I feel like
I feel like I'm being reasonable.
Yeah, sure. The guy who's gaslighting always thinks he's
reasonable. Why don't we get
back to the episode so I can handle
this? On the note
of just like the social media getting worse,
blah blah, blah. Do you guys see
I've been afraid a little bit of like AI
making things worse
not because it's capable but because it's
just like it's so
easy people who wouldn't normally never
go past the layers of friction to do something are now doing
something.
Example.
Did you see
the smash cheats
that were coming out?
What?
Yeah, yeah.
Someone's used
for Ultimate.
Someone has developed
like cheats.
And then H-Box
made this tweet
that was like
this is only acceptable
if you're playing against Steve.
Incineror.
Which she probably saw
in like a Discord
somewhere and he was like,
I'm going to tweet that.
And yes,
almost certainly.
An Incenoror player
created a ledge trap cheat
and a peri cheat.
So if someone's on ledge,
the,
I don't know how exactly how it works,
but the AI will
immediately react
to whatever ledge get up option they use
and perfectly punishment.
So he was like getting up from ledge
and he was perfectly forward airing back off
or if he rolled from ledge
he'd perfect dash back back through off stage
and it was just an infinite loop
of like one frame reactions.
And then the other one was like perfect Perry
like whenever or PowerSheild.
I don't know how it works in the ultimate.
But I was like for a long time
I was like yeah, smash is cool
because like there's no cheaters
and I think I was like
it followed that because you can't really make them.
and that's part of why.
And I'm like, okay, I guess now it's not,
it's actually isn't that.
It's not that you can't make them.
You can't make them.
It's just,
there was no one willing
before AI made it so accessible and easy
to like act.
I think potentially what it takes to become good enough
at coding to make a cheat
that would work on like a live service game
or whatever.
I think makes you the type of person
who wouldn't cheat.
But now if you're the type of person
who would cheat,
you have no skill sets.
You're lazy.
You can still make a,
like them. And so these people rise up and make the cheat. You, you may be forgetting. A infamous
story. The Peaute player. Of a Pittsburgh Petru Player. No, I'm not forgetting. It was a one,
one time outlier. That was the most. And it happened. That's Spiderskege Georg of Cheat.
And it happened in like a way that was like egregiously obvious. He did it long, no, no,
didn't he do it. I don't think that would work. He did it long enough to get on PR. Yeah. Okay.
So if nobody knows, it was in, I believe in MDVA, it was called the, I think it was Pittsburgh, was it Pittsburgh, it's similar in the East Coast. I actually don't know the difference. And it was like, this person had a, a memory card that they would put into the Wii or the GameCube back when like you kind of needed to just load it from the memory card. You had to like usually have one on you. So all the characters were unlocked and stuff. But his was modified to make Pichu a little bit better. If he, if he was in the right port of the Wii,
and he selected Pichu
who always made sure he played his sets
on the same setup
using the same controller port
you scroll it just keep it there
and then scroll up there
it scaled the like size and speed
of like a bunch of Pichu's
only in the port that he was in
so anyone tested it
and they chose the wrong port
they wouldn't see that difference
and I believe
he was also he also said
God told him he had to do it
yeah he no it wasn't God
it was like the CIA
It was genuinely schizophrenic like ideations.
It's funny, I don't know what site this is that's talking about this, but they have documented this controversy.
Sword Saint getting a shout out is very funny.
That is a Las Vegas Marth player.
It says Fox and Falco, he used to also play Marth.
Anyway, but yeah, so people ended up finding out just by kind of vibing out what was happening.
And they're like, Pichu shouldn't really be doing that.
And it was this whole controversy within the scene, which was very hilarious.
But this is to say, bro, like, there's cheaters in fighting games, like, as long as there's been cheaters everywhere.
No, but, like, I think, for, for one, this would not work online.
Like, this strategy and this cheat wouldn't work online.
Oh, yeah, you can't because the game would decent.
Yeah, but it's more like street fighters.
AI makes that so easy for anyone to just do.
And Smash has had very little issue with this.
Like, I think there's like two cases I can think of ever.
Remember Ludwig played against a cheater.
That was the second one.
Yeah.
There was like a, there was like a, um, a peach.
Yeah.
On Slippy really, really early who had like a, um, I think it was a power shield macro
or like a some sort of thing like that.
Yeah.
Um, or like a triple shine macro, some shit like that.
Oh, it was an SD card, not a, uh, not a memory card.
So this, this has all the cool information.
I'm glad this is documented.
My fear is we're going to see stuff like that more.
Dude.
But, I mean, it's just going to become, because it's way easier to do.
It's just way easier for people to do.
The barrier to entry of like cheating and.
We're seeing this chaotic neutral and chaotic positive, right?
Like we're seeing like, like, okay, they put Mario 64 in Eldon Ring.
That mod would have never been made if not someone with that idea and AI access.
And like because like that I think is happening in all directions.
And that's going to happen in all directions in society.
Like not for video games.
For like dangerous ideas.
For ways we can hurt each other.
You know what I mean?
I think people who would never have the means to activate on an impulse or a crazy idea,
Isn't the layer of friction here in this particular example just going and getting a cheat?
Because like, again...
But you can't go and get a cheat for Smash.
Yeah, but it's like if you played a different game, you just can.
Smash is just special because it didn't have them as much as like Street Fighter itself does,
which is very popular.
Treating Street Fighter is really, really popular.
I think it's in bit...
Like the track record of not cheating in Smash comes from the culture of like accountability of playing in person.
like cheating could have like proliferated
a lot earlier
if the game wasn't mainly played in person for so long
it's your ability to get away with it
because like even if you cheated online
you'd never be able to go into a in person tournament
and that was like the main way people played for so long
and I think like now that's like finally pivoting
in the other direction after like the last few years
so like now it's like there's a bunch of people
who play online and don't give a shit about going to tournaments
and like that so cheating is like
now you can just cheat and it's easy.
Well, some of the most, like, fun things to watch
are great players at their respective fighting games,
figuring out they're playing a cheater
because their intuition is telling them,
I've played so many hands of poker.
Yeah.
This is not normally.
And then beating the person using,
like, manipulating their cheats
to hurt them, which is kind of cool.
This is really, really popular in chess.
Yeah, yeah.
Like Grandmaster players streaming,
running into a cheater because it happens all the time
at that Elo, and then being like,
I'm going to play,
the meta game of knowing
they're using a cheat that they have to reference
what before they play.
So I'm going to play in this incredibly solid way
that makes them need to take
like a couple seconds to think about what to do.
So basically I'm going to play in a way
where I can play instantly
and they must check their cheat every three
for three seconds at least
and then beat them on time.
Yeah.
And so there's like a race.
It is very fun to watch.
Yeah, but I would say it's like much less fun to watch.
I don't care about watching Mutu King
play against Philip.
Yeah.
I think that's differently boring.
You know, oh, cool, he picked Kirby and beat.
Dude, people were like seriously excited.
He beat the robot.
And I'm like, this is television now?
No one Genesis was fun to watch.
This was so interesting, man, because like, if you look at the, can you scroll up to the change list?
The change list, aerial attacks, this is the things he did to peach you.
Aerial attacks had their landing leg reduced to being nearly non-existent.
That's funny because if you play.
like if you had the experience playing Josh Man's Pichu,
maybe you would have noticed that way quicker.
He was on 1.0 for his version?
How did no one notice their characters?
I think this is,
it's in such an early era of the game,
when like,
we just pulled up and fucking played.
Like, you think about the year that this is happening,
and it's during a period of time
where like so many people are just starting to play melee.
And like if I think about,
if I had gone to a tournament
and played against Petru at the time,
I just have so little experience against the character
to even understand that the character is different.
What you needed was PGH Carol to sit down
and play for four seconds.
You'd be like, something's wrong.
Something's off.
Something's off.
He's like, something's off.
Something's off with Pitchie.
He's like, I've done every combo in the game
with this character.
Yeah, you had to plug into the fourth controller port
and you had to be Pitch's blue costume.
That's crazy.
That is some DJZ made level ingenuity.
Like that.
There are some creative.
of crazy guys in the melee community.
And this was a crazy guy.
Dude, are you, so, so I want to congratulate you, Aiden.
Yeah.
For being the person to, to truly bring down and once and for all.
And, and help contribute to the eventual downfall of Mark Merrill.
You two first held right to account.
And now here I am.
And, uh, Moist Critical made a video about it.
And he did.
And just to fucking...
And he said,
This lesbian's got some really good points.
With all the analysis...
I haven't watched the critical video.
What was his general feeling on all of it?
He's got the like...
The Twitter take analysis,
which is like I can't...
Like, these delusional game CEOs
like had way too high expectations
when they were making this game,
which is if you listen to the interview,
not what he's saying,
which is the frustrating part.
Is that Rachel Meadow?
And then it sucks
because like,
I feel like, I feel like I'm in this stupid spot where like, I don't want to, he's Mark Merrill.
He's the guy who founded Riot games.
He'll be fine.
Yeah, yeah, he doesn't need your offense.
It's Riot, Tenson owned games.
They will be fine.
I don't want to have to go to bat for them.
And then fucking the Dota community is mad.
And then let that, but you know what?
Let them be mad.
They need shit to do.
I bet Mark Merrill and stop me if I start getting a little too truthful.
Okay, I'm like, if you don't too much,
truth on the cast.
Put duct tape over my mouth
if I get a little truthful, I guess.
Mark Merrill probably has the same situation
as Tom Duan had
when he owed all those Chinese people money.
And he was in that slave intervention.
Mark playing hold him.
Mark, playing hold him and he was trapped in the dungeon.
That's right.
Mark, I know we had a lovely interview.
If you see this, he won't.
I'm sorry.
Will you see this?
I'll protect my identity.
So your Bitcoin hitman won't
get me, Mark, if you see this.
Because I think that you have a, you have a sword hanging over your neck.
You know who's getting fucking out of pocket on the timeline?
I'll say it, because we had to talk about it.
Dakota!
You said, hey, bitch.
I'm necessary to-
Don't step on my scoop.
No, because DeCard, I feel like when this is what I see, when this happens on Twitter,
when somebody I know has like the reactionary Twitter take that I think is like not
accurate about something that I'm privy to, then I'll,
usually just like have a conversation with them because they're like my friend or my co-worker or
whatever. I used to work with Dakota. We worked in the same office as Dakota for years. We were
feet from Dakota. And he always wore a hoodie to work. Dakota OG fighting game player, OG Dota player.
So naturally, he does not like the two big highlights from this interview. If you don't know
what the fuck we're talking about, that's Dakota right there. If you don't know what we're talking
about at all, I, like, uh, I do have a interview. You have another podcast. Can we say it? I think
we could break the news now. I think we should finally tell them.
you know, if they go over there and they listen, it's okay.
It's all lemonade guys.
On pedophile stand, or whatever you guys want to call it,
I'll just lead it on the pedophile stand,
filled with pedophiles and bald people,
and it's also a sleep aid,
but it's also a sleep aid.
Where Mark Merrill was cordially invited to come speak.
And he said, oh, that helps people sleep, that's cool.
Will there be a gala?
And you said, of course there'll be a gala.
Of course there'll be a red carpet gala.
And Mark, if you're still watching right now,
I'm more sorry.
I'm like anger come out.
I'm let anger come out and my friends.
I'm not sorry, Mark Merrill.
I'm not sorry that you have a sword over your head
and has Chinese characters on it.
Vex tried to farm a minion, fears gone.
I'm not sorry, Mark.
That's a bad mechanic.
We interviewed Mark Merrill,
who's like the co-founder and like an executive at Riot Games.
And he,
him and like Brandon Beck and other people
like made League of Legends.
And Kyle Mooney.
And,
and Kyle Mooney.
Two big little moments from this interview picked up a lot of steam outside of the fans of the show,
which is that he has a clip where he talks about the number of players they would have needed to sustain 2XKO,
which is a fighting game they made before they canceled live development on it,
which just happened a few months ago.
And then another clip where he answers my, I worked with Dota people for a long time.
We all did at Beyond the Summit because we made like Dota events, right?
and there's a history
that the Dota community is mad about
of the Dota All-Stars Forum
that had all the community data
for the old Dota mod getting shut down.
So I said, I was like,
this is my chance.
I've worked with Dota people for like 10 years.
It's my chance to ask him for his side of the story.
You can ask this guy
who contributed, I was on that forum.
There was a post for Zeus
called,
called, was it,
math craft?
Math, because it was all about calculating the damage from all the math you had to do playing Zeus.
Do you remember how...
Go on.
I was going to say, remember how the staff was for me and it was to heal me?
Maybe you should give it to me.
He thinks the staff was to heal him.
You think the staff healed you.
Well, you healed me.
You gave me the tiger juice and the...
He thought the tiger's treat was a healing syrup.
Was it a healing tingen?
It feels better.
How's your hair, dude?
You got to be checked.
You've got to the mirror.
Have you had any violent nightmares mostly, most nights?
That it feels like you walk around in, that it feels like you'd like to play, but instead you feel pain in.
That you can't play?
You can't play.
Take part in it?
I don't, I don't, I don't know.
We control your life.
We control your mind.
We can show your every move now.
I thought Mark Romero controlled my life in my mind.
And feeling a little hungry all the Chinese control his life.
I feel a little hungry.
Ah!
I love what I'd eat stuff.
That's what I'll miss the most.
So you remember that fantasy?
You remember that fantasy from earlier where I had my feet behind my head.
Yeah.
Yeah, I remember.
Okay, okay, I won't recap it.
Well, it wasn't really a fantasy.
I actually did that.
I did that.
I did that in your house.
I did that on your house.
And the problem is
your mattress is
fucking ruined.
And I'm sorry.
All right?
I'm sorry.
But I can fix this.
Because today's episode is sponsored
by Helix Sleep.
And I have already ordered you one.
You just...
I can't believe you did this.
You ruined my...
And I cannot name the brand of the mattress
that you ruined that mattress that I
love. It's a very forgettable brand. A mattress that may or may not have, be the mattress that I
talk about on a, on a different show. But, but, but now that you've, you've, you've, you've,
it was not a chat. It was not a chat. You've left you, you've left, it was, it was my body.
You loved your juice. My body, my body cried. Now, my body was crying on to it. Now,
finally, I have a good excuse because I can take the sleep quiz,
from Helix, which is the first time
we're saying the brand name of the sponsor
in this sponsored segment.
And Helix, Helix could offer me 20 unique
mattresses with different memory foam
and cooling features. I did it for you.
I did the sleep quiz for you. I logged in. I know
your email and all your information and your
phone number. And so I logged in with all
your information and I was Aiden
McCaig and I said, this is my sleep quiz
because I wanted to make it right and I did all
this. I used all, I
identified your sleep zones. It was
free shipping. I used your card. So it's a
free shipping. It wasn't even a problem. The delivery is coming to your house right now.
And listen, it's a 120-night sleep trial. And if you'll let me, we can try again.
120 nights we have to try again. And you can be there this time so my body won't cry.
I'm going to go to helix sleep.com slash the yard for 20% off sitewide. That's heliocleysleep.com
slash the yard for 27% off site-wide. This week only.
If you want to, Helix Sleep, if you want to try again.
I can try again.
If you want to try one more time.
The Helix Sleep will arrive.
We'll set it up together with a bonding experience.
And then my body won't cry anymore.
Because I won't be alone in your bed.
I'll be with you.
Guys, that's Helix Sleep.
One of the sponsors.
Let's get back to the podcast.
So these two clips leave the scope of the interview.
Dota Community Hates is answer the last question.
Because in their defense,
he, I would say
he defends the guy who
deleted that forum, which is what the whole
thing is about. Yes. And
I think if you're part of the Dota community, the most
empathetic take I can give,
even though you're mad about a 20 years later,
is, oh my God,
and I'm sure that'll get glad.
But it is,
is that at the end of the day, this guy
deleted the forum. Like there's no, it doesn't
matter the reason or the explanation behind
it. It's like he deleted the community
forum that they all used to like,
It was, to give additional context of someone who actually was used it, like on dial-up,
it was the one place to go.
Yes.
It wasn't like, we didn't have Reddit back then.
Like, forums were how you exchange information and met people and shared something like that
and had guides and how to play the game and how to get better.
And for it to disappear and instead have a play this game instead button was lethal.
It was so disgusting.
He stepped on the ant-hill.
Oh, God.
And so to carry that baggage is like, it's funny because I'm old.
enough now to be like, no, I remember what that was like, and that guy is, is, he was like Tom Dwan,
and he probably owes them billions of dollars. One, it was a different guy who did it.
Yeah, it was a different guy. But he was like, he like shook hands with that monster.
What was his defense? He's basically defending, like, Penn Dragon is the person who like ended up
working at riot. Penn Dragon is like a teenager at the time. He's like, fucking, I think he's like 18.
He just rationalizes why Penn Dragon did it at the time. But I think regard, I think the issue, if you
I would say, and I was thinking about this
as I listened to his answer,
but it was the last question
we got to ask before he had to leave.
And I'm like, okay,
even if all this is true,
because we fought for,
I was so annoyed by this,
because people are like,
why didn't you do it?
Why didn't you ask him any follow-up questions?
Why didn't you do any picture?
Why don't you?
I fought for extra time
so I could ask this question,
and that's how much he needed to go.
Yeah.
So I'm listening to the answer,
and I'm like, okay,
I believe you believe all that,
but it's like he's still delayed
at the forum. It's like you can just say, you can just say, he shouldn't have done that. He should
have done that. Yeah, that is the answer. You can just say that. I'm, okay, I'm, I guess I'm,
was confused and now I'm not by, he didn't say that. He didn't say, he didn't say he shouldn't
have done it. That's wild. But regardless of that, I think the, the other thing, the two XCO stuff
was more annoying to me, because people were clipping this 60 second clip where Mark is like, I ask
very directly. It's like my third follow-up question where I'm like, well, just, what was the user base
that would have sustained 2XCO at like the cost that it took to make.
And like what was the number of players you needed to justify it?
And he's like, well, monthly active players would have to be like hundreds of thousands to like a million.
Which is a ton.
It'll never happen.
And it would never happen.
But if you, so if you watch this 30 second clip of the interview, you're like, fuck it, what an idiot.
What a fucking out of touch executive and riot.
And they thought they were going to fucking make Valor for fighting games.
It's like, but if you listen to the fucking interview,
it's that he's explaining that like,
we,
like,
we build games to,
like,
exist,
like they need to just pay for themselves.
That's how games should be built.
Legends of Runtara has like no players,
but it's still around
because it costs so little money to keep up.
Yes.
And he's like,
we made a bunch of mistakes
in the development of this fighting game
and basically along the way
created this like thing that came out way too late,
should have gone out years or,
It should have cost way less.
It should have been made by way less people.
We fucked up and we put ourselves in a spot where it needed that amount of players to pay for itself, which was impossible.
And we know all that and then that we're considering all that stuff when we make more games in the future.
It's like a very like, here's how we fucked up.
Here's how we're learning in the future sort of interview.
And then everybody is like, everybody who watched the 30 second clip is a fucking moron.
Listen, quiz pro quo.
Quiz pro quo.
How would you, if you only had that 30 seconds,
how would you frame your question
to not make it sound misleading
based on his answer?
Uh, oh, that's interesting.
Because I think the best...
I think there's a verbiage there that allows...
If I knew I was delivering to an audience
that was only consuming a 30 second answer,
I probably wouldn't have asked that question at all.
Because the...
answer necessitates a longer...
Yeah. Because my...
I disagree! It's a follow-up question.
It inherently... No, I think there's a
verbiage. It's a follow-up question. It is inherently
built off of the context of what we already discussed.
I believe in a verbiage. I believe in a verbiage.
Do you not believe in a verbiage?
Mark, with all of the context
that you delivered to me just now in the previous 10 minutes,
what was the number of users that you needed to sustain the game?
I like that. I like that.
Because imagine that was a clip.
They would cut it out of the clip.
No, they would cut that out.
Don't even, don't even, don't, no one would do this.
There has to be away.
You know how I know nobody gives a shit is because in the clip,
a giant lower third comes up that says,
it specifies monthly active viewers.
And then a bunch of people just say daily concurrence when they're talking about this.
You know what you should.
And let's again, quiz broke.
People don't.
What if you did it?
What if it was like covered the screen?
Hmm?
What if it like said monthly average?
and it just covered the whole screen.
It was unignorable.
I actually think
I think there's merit to this argument.
And I bring this back.
Zipper 2 designed something
for a merch website
we made a long time ago.
And one of the frustrating things
about having merch websites
when we were doing it
was like people were really bad
at like pulling up the information
to help them
with their order.
Like if they needed customer service
or something, right?
I remember it was the shit camp store
for for cuties event.
And we intentionally, because we had so many problems with this,
we moved the like need help thing when we were like taking her website design
into like the center top of the screen.
So it was like one of the first things you see instead of like off to the side where she
wanted it to go because it looks nicer there.
And I was like, we went back and forth.
Like I was going back and forth with zipper two.
I was like, I understand that it doesn't look nice and understand that.
and understand that you don't like it.
There is a designer,
but you need to understand
these troglodytes
that come to the website and complain.
They need it to be,
they need,
and I think,
I think this confirms to a degree
what I'm talking about.
It's like people just ignore
giant pieces of texts.
And that wasn't,
I think complaining about that,
that wasn't like the root
of the misunderstanding here,
but it's an example.
No, no, I think,
but I think it is perpetually going to be a problem,
especially on a show like yours.
100% where like we have all I've talked about you like with a lot like we have the luxury of being always being able to say just kidding around yeah like you know I talk about like putting an Eminem and Netanyahu's foreskin or something like I can if you said that on LS someone would take you seriously and get mad I know I can't believe he wants to put a chocolatey treat he wants to wait for the treat to grow bacterium so we can so we can learn how to destroy him and I know he's obviously circumsized
I'm talking about the side of the four skin.
Right, right.
It would be in the A amount of blue skin.
The M&M would be in the side of the four skin.
And it looks like when Ed Ed Netti eats a job breaker.
You got a job breaker carrying it around.
What is that?
What is that?
What is that?
Yeah.
And you,
and you,
and you,
and you,
and you,
some sort of growth.
You flick it.
Yeah, right.
And it goes,
it goes like,
flick it.
Like,
when Wiley coyote has the fucking fork in the,
mung.
Do we,
we have the freedom to say this.
We have the freedom.
When you're a show, it's way harder.
I think Ludwig also suffers this because he's the clippable man.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's the clippable man.
But I think you can hear him rev it up.
When he's about to say something, you can hear.
And he used to do this with like shorts when he would, it was really funny.
In the early days of the podcast, he would try to frame something he was about to say.
So it was like digestible for a short.
Yeah.
And I would always fucking step on him out of spite.
I don't do as much now.
Do you remember the one time he got mad at you for doing that, bro?
He was like, oh, so you don't want the class.
So you don't want the club.
I was like,
you know,
I don't want the fucking clip.
Fuck you.
Fuck you.
Fuck you.
Anyway,
I don't have a fucking,
fucking,
it doesn't matter.
I don't think it matters.
It's like,
if you don't like Ryan and Mark Merrill,
you don't have to like him.
It's just like,
I,
I just like,
I feel,
I feel annoyed when people,
I,
like,
annoyed by people getting annoyed
about the wrong part of the thing.
It's like if you watch the whole thing,
then you would be annoyed
at a different aspect of this.
To X.
K.O.
is being shut down or is shut down.
right? Yeah, so the way it's working
is like they have stopped all
like continuous development on it
until the end of the year I believe
the servers and everything will stay up
it will be like very skeletally maintained
So it'll be like Legends of Runtara
They also... Yeah, you can still like play it
But I think technically they've put out other stuff
for Legends of Rue Terra right? Active development
will end in December 26th. Am I wrong?
Do you still play it but it's like no more updates
no more bullshit unlocking all champs
refunding all money?
spent. It's a really interesting thing that I guess Riot is kind of allowed to do. I mean,
it's like the, not to say that this isn't disappointed. I was even disappointed as somebody who is
like a fighting game fan and not that engaged with this. I was really disappointed by this.
But it's like they refunded everybody for every purchase prior to that date. It's like,
yeah, I think it's all fine. If you guys are interested in this and you want to like know everything
about it, I think Brian F had the best breakdown of it.
It's a video on his channel.
It's like an hour long
and explaining why this game failed
in his eyes.
And I think it's very,
very articulate and complete
and well thought out.
But otherwise,
I don't play anime fighters,
so kill yourself.
I don't care.
What genre will riot conquer next?
They haven't conquered.
I'm so excited about it.
They wanted to be failed fighting game.
They wanted to be MMO.
The MMO.
Really?
We asked them,
this was like,
they'll make a really fun.
If I can be,
if I can take a call.
Quest from Diana, I might play the game.
I like her.
I'm very skeptical of this.
But that's why I asked him a bunch of questions about like,
I'm fucking seems like an MMO is born to fail right now.
It's tough.
I think we're in this.
I mean, this has been talked about to death,
but it's funny because me, Zipper and Miles were talking about,
like, we were talking about Warcraft,
World Warcraft, and also Final Fantasy 14,
which are MMOs right before this.
And we had to be like kind of ripped away from this conversation
to do the podcast.
But it, like, Final Fantasy 14 has
been out as the remaster, the revamped version of that game for 12 years now?
12 years, it's been updated.
I played it in college.
Isn't that crazy?
I'm 36.
That you were in college 14 years ago.
I know.
I have a 20-year high school reunion in two years if I go to it.
That's crazy.
I know.
That's why I'm trying to play less video games.
I'm going to die soon.
I think I was in the eighth grade.
So anyway, this is all to say, like, where space appetites for new games don't really exist
because the old games are just like these legacy things that snowball and stay maintained.
Thank you.
That's what I said.
And I don't like it.
Thank you.
I don't like it.
Because imagine I want to return to Final Fantasy 14 with my character SpacePimp Jones.
Right.
Space Pump.
And I have the full culinary level 50 set because I thought.
it would be cool to be a chef who fights people.
And I go there and I'm like,
what the fuck do I do?
It's weird.
It's almost like I don't want to be reminded of being 24.
I want to start something kind of new.
It's weird.
But it's like all the things I missed and you can't.
It's weird.
It's weird time.
So what they made for me is Okreene of Time remastered.
Are you 36 and bald?
Do you like this shit?
Does your impending death loom your mind?
And you're like, yeah.
I guess I'll play it.
There's a new graphic.
You mean it?
You know, I'd play the shit out of?
I'd play a League of Legends deck builder.
A deck builder?
Oh, like, I could play the Spire-esque.
I'd play the shit out of that.
Isn't that?
All the items you buy in the shop are all the League of Legends items.
Yeah.
It sounds like you just want to slay the spire about League.
Yeah.
You know what I really want back?
Which is going to sound really stupid.
It's going to sound very stupid.
Okay.
I want what playing auto chess felt like back.
Like Dota Auto Chess?
Yes.
Because I know TFT is right there
And I know it is likely a way better game.
This is what Crillion is right now.
Crillion is like that.
Crillion is like Auto Chess?
We all on that shit.
The vibe of it.
Bro, get on that shit.
We all on the shit right now.
TFT is like, yeah, I'm on it.
It's like a sad thing you admit.
Auto Chess, my fucking girlfriend was playing it on a fucking MacBook
and she doesn't even play video games.
We were all playing.
She had to download damn.
Steam.
You gotta get steam, dude.
DFTs that game to a bunch of people.
No,
no,
no,
you're misunderstanding the feeling
of something sweeping the gamer nation
and everyone feeling it at the same time
and something new
and truly unique.
Can I say something scary?
You may.
Can I scare you?
Is that,
was that the beginnings of Friends Slop?
No.
Because a new thing comes out,
it's sweeping the nation.
We're all on that shit.
Get on it.
And then it dies out and it's never to be played again.
If you're using the word friend slop,
I don't think it is a case for this.
There may be another word that aligns these two things
much more closely,
but friend slop is defined by something
that is ultimately non-competitive.
Auto chess and TFT, like later on,
is like, is entirely competitive to the point
where you can be the best auto chess player.
Oh, I don't think it means non-competitive.
I feel like friend-slop is more used to be like,
hey this is a game that is made somewhat cheaply
with like with like publicly accessible
graphics and elements that is
it comes out that relies on like a tried and true
mechanic like something like among us where it's like a battle ray hour
like a blah blah blah and we play it for a short period
time it dies out and it never gets played again
I don't think it's friend slop because you can cue into it
and solo play it and that's an encouraged way to play the game
sure okay and that is just not friend slop
Friends Slop is you need to kind of know people or arrange to play this.
Yeah, yeah.
I guess I don't mean that...
But I know what you're trying to say.
I didn't mean Autochess was Friend Slop.
I meant like, was that the rumblings of games we pick up and put down in a day or in a summer?
No, I think because I think it's just it's apples and oranges because among us is the obvious next thing we think of and is like the beginning of this thing.
And among us is just like, that was truly the idea of getting someone all together doing something.
even though like to be a mogus to be a mogus there was also an accessibility level where it's like yeah your girlfriend was playing auto chess but i don't think she would have figured out about auto chess if she wasn't with you no no no she would have definitely figured out about a mogus you know mark you know mr merrill was saying what oh what mark say what marky marks say like older chinese women in like mahjong clubs in like in china have gotten really it's like a big demographic for
TFT now. Really? Yeah.
That makes a lot of sense.
It is like the old lady cribbage game
of games. They could probably
get really good.
You know what I mean? There's just no mechanics. I mean, you have
no, yeah, there's not a lot of execution, right? There's
no execution. I don't want to piss off the TFT, the four
TFT heads. You have to make decisions
quickly. I think the execution is the same
as chess. Yeah. It's like, sure,
there's a clock and you must act quickly with a mouse
at some level. Yeah. But
really, old people are really good at chess online
still. Bad at Bullet. A bit of
Dude, I can't wait until Daigo I'mohara is 60 years old.
And he's still doing it.
He's still doing it with Go-Keown fashion way.
Oh, man.
Yeah, I don't think, I don't know if I believe in like the gamer fall off age.
I think he got it.
There is a, there's a 45-year-old player named Idabashi Zengif, who plays Zengif,
and he's really good.
I think the lower the execution the game is, like the long, like you just could play for so long, right?
Well, this, I think it's more of like, the idea is you get older and your reaction time slows down.
But the 45-year-old street fighter player who can top eight is spits in the face of this because that is reactions the game.
It's like, are you locked in or no?
Yeah.
And he's 45.
Yeah, there's maybe an argument that if, uh, that he would like potentially lose to his younger self.
Can you check his age so I'm, no, I'm getting my Zengue F right?
I might be a different guy.
Yeah.
45.
45.
That boy was born in 1881.
He honestly looks amazing.
He does look amazing.
He looks amazing.
He stays inside a lot.
If I had to guess this guy's age, 36.
At most.
So, yeah, I like this.
He's like the shining beacon of like,
Unk can always do it.
You can always be Unk and win if you're determined enough.
Cool.
It's a hard thing to let go of.
Like, I think, like, getting older,
like, I fear the day where I pick up a video game
and I'm just like lost
and I'm just like
God, these used to be so intuitive.
Why are they so?
I would say the last
firm gamer goal
I have in my life right now
is I would like
before I die
to get to face it level 10.
And I was like
if I wait,
like I'm not playing right now
and if I like put this off
like five years
am I actually limiting
my ability to do it.
And I was like you know what?
Probably not.
Like probably not until I'm like
in my...
You know what you're limiting,
how you're limiting your ability
is moving to Europe.
It'll be harder there.
Yeah, it'll be much harder there.
Face it level 10 here?
That's like face of level 7 over there.
Vendetta is going to carry me.
Oh my God.
If he gets face it level 10 with CS fucking Hall of Famers.
I will remind you every time I speak to you that you aren't.
I'm going to make a t-shirt that says my friend Aiden didn't do this.
Two big red arrows.
Face it level 10.
You full print on the back.
Vendetta.
You're going to have to do it on a smurf.
You're doing a spur front.
I'm gonna make up a name for you.
You're gonna be Bjorn.
You know, you can be solo cue, face it, level 10 in Europe,
and then that will be the one day I finally respect you.
You'd respect me?
Yes.
If I do that?
I would respect that for sure.
Until that happens, the tinctures will continue rampaging through your system.
Do you not respect me from my other gaming accomplishments?
The tinctures are rampaging through you.
Tiredness!
Of,
you are now tired.
You will be tired now.
I forgot that I could be called upon.
I forgot.
So you know that fantasy.
From earlier.
Don't go.
Don't go.
It's rocket money.
Don't go.
I was going to do a whole thing
about how while I was doing that
at your desk,
sort of the fourth time
that I was doing this thing,
that I saw,
you had a big spreadsheet open
and you had your bank accounts open
I saw how much money you were spending
on all kinds of stuff
that's what I was going to say
you saw how much
money you were spending
on all kinds of stuff
you weren't using
like all these services
and stuff that I know you don't use
because I pretty much just like
hang out of your place while you're going
and I was going to suggest
that you get rocket money
so you can manage all this stuff
and maybe cut some
trim some of the fat out
from these things you are doing
you get alerts
if your bills increase in price
and usual spend
there is a charge for a big mattress,
but that won't be unusual,
and it was on your card that I used.
I just was going to say
that you understand your finances,
check, your credit course,
but you started like getting mad just now,
which is really annoying.
Can I clarify?
Let's, we love Rocket Money,
and I'd love to,
let's leave the little world of the ad read
for a moment inside of it.
Fun.
And say, while,
while you engaged with this,
self-pleasure. You
found a gold watch
ruined my mattress. No, no, I didn't
ruin it. My body cried onto it.
Your body cried onto my mattress.
And you also, while you
reviewed my personal finances
and also completed the sleep quiz for the
other product, that's
what's going on right now.
Yeah, yes. All this
shit happened. If you wanted
to chase your financial goals
faster and check your credit score and track your budget and unsubscribe from a bunch of shit.
You go use Rocket Money to help you reach your financial goals faster.
I use it all the time for real.
That's insane.
What you're saying is insane.
You could try it for $0 at RocketMoney.com slash the yard.
That's rocketmoney.com slash the yard.
And in, if we could exit the ad read right now, outside of the world of the ad read,
you're being an asshole.
You got your juice all over my mattress.
My body cried.
Because of you.
How do I unsubscribe from this and a rat?
Can Rocket Money help me with that?
Can Rocket Money help me get back to the show?
You can try.
Yeah.
Let's subscribe.
Back to the episode.
Can I eat the can again?
You know what actually my favorite aid
in a complicated concussion is?
I'm not kidding.
This is what is number one in my head
when I think about it where I go, wow.
Is that time you almost be Kedoren?
Oh my God.
It was so cool.
That's number one for me.
It's more than CS.
It's more than a slippery rank, all that stuff.
It's, that time he almost beat Cador
and I was like, wow, that's crazy.
Yeah, that was a wow, that's crazy moment.
It was.
When your boy is making a run like that,
you're just like, everyone's getting together
in the Discord or wherever, or if you're there.
Dude, the mental collapse.
I had three sets like this.
It was squid.
The first one I ever had was squid at Smash Camp.
And then it was Codoran at that local.
And then it was Rishi at the New York local.
And all of these,
all of these games.
games were me going into the last stock of the last game with a lead.
And then me looking at the screen and then mentally going, oh, it's happening.
I've done it.
And then it immediately just collapses.
That's where the rubber meets the road, bro.
Every daily player who is not me has almost beat Squid.
I am the only one who couldn't do it.
I couldn't get close.
Dude, I remember I was playing Street Fighter ranked a while back when I was playing Cammy,
and I match into this guy who's like, high master or something,
and at the time it was like 200 points of Bumby, which is very significant.
And he really should just never lose to a 1400 camie.
Anyway, I beat him in one game, and then he wins the set,
and I go into the customer room to call him a pedophile for losing to me.
And he's obviously like, you're so garbage.
And I was like, then why did I beat you?
Why?
I went.
Then why did I beat you?
And then we kind of are.
chirping each other and I finally get serious for a moment.
Okay, for serious though.
What, like, what do you think
makes you different than me?
Like, what would I work
on type of thing? And he basically just
said, he's like, you know
when you almost beat me the second game?
You just got to clutch those.
Like, that's just where the rubber meets the road.
And I actually, I always remembered that.
I was like, that's kind of a very simple way to say it.
It's like, in that one little
moment where you can almost win,
you just actually do.
You just, it's not about gait.
Like, you did all the work to get there, but it's actually doing it.
That is the difference between him winning that and me losing that in most universes,
like a 3070 or something.
That was cool.
Yeah, I think it's like, I think it's what makes top players so hard to beat for up-and-comers
in tournament specifically because it's, people like to say it's like they've just been there before.
But I think what being there means is when you are like, okay, when your opponent
realizes they're about to lose,
and when you think you're about to win,
both players change how they play.
You just do.
And you spend,
compared to the amount of time
you spend in the other types of gameplay,
which is like when you start a new game,
when you're not in top A,
that is the majority of your gaming is spent.
That is where most of your iteration loops are spent.
That is where you have the most reps.
You have a very small amount of reps in these situations.
And when you're playing against someone
who just has way more reps in that situation,
they subconsciously understand how the game changes when you feel that and when you feel that.
And they've been there before.
That's why it feels like it's like what happened.
I just threw.
Yeah.
It's like, no, you just, the reps that took you to get to the spot here where you were even able to play this person, you don't have them in this other spot.
You're lifting up a new weird weight.
Yeah.
And it's misshapen and strain.
Yeah.
On the fifth bench press, the weight gets redistributed to be like uneven.
And you have to have done that before to be able to press it.
even like physical things like compared to compared to just playing like online in your room like
all of a sudden you're like your heart's beating yeah and your hands are shaking and i'm still
shooting and like and i'm still in that shot and uh and you're you have to know how to like calm down
or your execution has to be like so default and so like so subconscious that it just doesn't matter
And I feel like that was where
I remember seeing so much of my own improvement
is like getting better at those situations
but then losing to the people
who are like even better at it.
And like I feel like I went through this era
during the last year playing melee
and I feel like you can ask,
you can ask Cleish,
you can ask SF Danny.
I feel like I became the online
SoCal melee terrorist.
I would destroy.
Like my counterparts
parts around my skill level in friendlies.
You're a,
you're a,
a ghoul walking the streets.
But when the rubber hits the road
where it actually matters
and what counts,
is like I crumbled so much.
In tournaments.
In tournaments that is what is being tested.
That is the skill set.
It doesn't matter what you do
on your computer at home
when you have your,
you know,
your headphones and your music
and you're chilled out
and you're not thinking about what it takes.
I'll say two things.
For one,
the only thing I'm asking to S.
Danny is where the bitch is
Mm-hmm.
Number two.
You don't know where.
You're going to say, I don't know.
I don't know.
I'm gonna ask.
Number two is when you played melee a lot,
did you sweat a lot in your chair?
I sweat so much.
I don't know what it is about melee, bro.
Why is melee?
I've never played another game like this.
I don't know why.
I'm genuinely asking if anyone,
because we all relate to this,
we all understand,
there is like a physical intensity to melee.
that like you sweat
like you're running a fucking marathon.
I think it's
because it's I think it's mostly armpit sweat
like I don't sweat as much
like I don't drip for my forehead
and it's one of the only video games we play
where our arms are closed while we play
Maybe that's just simply
So you're getting my hands
You're getting intense
You're getting your hands
Because your hands are also pressed up
against something with no airflow
This may be a little gross
My hands but my chest and my chest like my chest
would sweat
You get sweaty chest
Like chest in my back
chic from Zelda.
You know how like when you, if you're hot, if you're wearing socks, you're hotter, like your whole
body's hotter.
That's a you thing.
No, this is everyone.
Like, if you take your socks off while you're hot, you feel like a full, a full body relief.
That's a you thing.
There's no way.
This is a me thing.
I think this is a, I think he's right.
That's a you.
This isn't a YouTube.
No, this is like a thing.
You guys share something unique.
How fun is that?
You've never, no, genuinely.
You've ever experienced this?
Ever?
No.
I don't consider it like, oh, I'm so hot.
Let me take these fucking socks off.
Let's pretend it's just me and you.
and continue to relate about it.
You've experienced that relief, right?
I'll be left out.
That's okay.
I think the arms being closed
are like having your socks on.
It's like you're not allowing any airflow
to this part of your body
that needs to be cooled down
for the rest of your body to feel cool.
So like you sweat in other places too more.
You know what I mean?
Because we're very closed off
when we play melee.
Like we're like this.
Yeah.
But we're playing counter strike.
We're like this.
Yeah, I mean a closer analog would be
when I play Street Fighter.
And it's like I'm opened up.
You're like this.
When you're playing league,
you're like this.
You're like, you know, any mouse and key.
Because I sweat when I play cod intensely.
If somebody, somebody is, you swipe when you play cod?
Yeah, but not, but melee is longer sessions with less breaks.
So like with melee, I think there's also, you're focused 100% of the time.
There's a physical strain to melee that I literally, I've not felt in any other game as well.
Like, I'm literally holding and doing more with like my hands and my forearms than I would like any other game.
It's a higher APM game.
Something Josh really tried to hammer home when he was training me for blur is like you're gripping it too.
tight.
Yeah.
He said,
don't wake the baby.
And it was,
it's something,
it's really hard to unlearn.
I remember Vish had,
Vish quit for a while.
And it was because he was holding the controller too hard and he was starting to develop
like wrist and hand pain.
And when he came back,
he had this new controller where he had put like foam pads on the side.
And then he also like had to focus on like relaxing while he played.
Yeah.
And the first day I saw him back,
because I didn't know about any of it.
I was like,
because his controller looks so.
huge with the pads on. I was like, why do you have on it? Dude, I remember when we did
Slippy Champions League, which was a, in an era of having to be during COVID, I think that
was a great era. I love Slippy Champion's life. Yeah, it was fun. And I got to commentate it,
which is really fun with like Bobby Scar and shit. But I remember one time it was during a break
and I walked in, it was at BTS at the time, and I walked into the big area and there was a setup
and Bobby Scar is playing, I believe, with Lovage or Tof on a setup and he's on a leverless. He's on a
box controller. And I remember
he's like seeing him in a wheelchair.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
My goat. I was like, no.
My fucking goat.
And he's and he's like, he's also
getting clobbered on the setup and I'm like, he just
can't get on the bed anymore.
I'm so sorry,
Bobby Stark. I love you, bro.
We were, dude, we were talking about
that it was such a, a funny
moment because like, S.A. Nick
South Australia, by the way,
not the other abbreviation.
But we've talked about this a lot,
but it's funny how he
made such a bad impression on Ludwig
that it persisted for like
so many years until Ludwig
got so busy that he never
could care anymore. Yeah.
But,
but SA Nick,
like, for,
to recap the story, it was basically
like in 2019,
we had like eight Australians hanging out of our house
for Genesis. Because
and Hayden had invited them all over
and uh...
Hold on I had asked
and he didn't ask and he said
come everybody
and you'll all sleep with my big bed
like Willy Wonka
and Fess and it was in there
and he farted and it was funny
and then Marky said
Marky oh no no fart
Ghosties
Anyway
it was like
so there's like all these people
in the houses at the time
and it's Ludwig and A-Rog
and they're on a setup
and they're playing like best of threes
and they did this thing
was like okay 20 bucks
and they were like
just bet and they would play one and they play another and they play another and it was like
their rhythm and how they like to play. S.A. Nick says can I get in on this?
Already they're like, and they're kind of like sure whatever. S.A. Nick is a Mars player and at the time
he's very, very good and he sits down on the setup against one of them and just proceeds to play
Puff and only use back air and only run away. As if to say, I am so much better than you at this
game that I can do this and you'll lose because you're garbage and I'm not.
And this happened and Ludwig hated S.A. Nick for so long.
Dude, God bless S.A. Nick because now he's just addicted to slay the spire and it's like the guy
who's torturing AI. Like, okay, it's like this guy who would be a dangerous society. We've actually
given him a tool to express all that on a robot. And he's like, he's like playing the game and he's
like I'm gonna I'm gonna infinitely draw against you.
I'm still drawing.
Your turn's not coming.
I'm gonna win in one turn.
Dude,
S.A. Nick is in,
I think I was like watching Blurr
and then I saw him pop up
and I was like, fancy seeing you here.
Yeah, I haven't seen him in so long.
This bit used to kill Josh,
but it was, uh, it would,
when we'd be driving,
we get like Taco Bell really late at night.
It was S.A. Nick has a lisp.
And it would be S.A. Nick singing the banana boat song.
and or no he's not singing it he's in the world of the banana song yeah and he's talking about
yeah my bunches were a six foot seven foot uh eight foot bunches it's actually not a bad
impression uh right banana um and it was him like sheepishly asking if he could go home because his
bunches were so high it's so insane because this is we're on like we're on our podcast you know
like almost half a million people listen to this every week.
No.
This is a, this is, it is.
How is the song?
Isn't that crazy?
It is almost half a million every week.
I remember this.
It was the tally,
it was the tallyman song, wasn't it?
Yeah, the tallyman.
Tally me, Bianna.
And then, and then this impression is for like 10 people.
Mr. Tallyman, could you tally me banana?
Uh, say seven foot, eight foot bunches.
Um,
I only know Lil Wayne's version.
And I would say this is a Josh.
I used to do it way better, but he would just be in the car just like, weez, slamming the door, wheeze.
It's like, there's just, there's like such a small pool of people who are like dying, laughing at this, and then nobody else.
This is my way to disclose to S.A. Nick, if you're listening, this is something we used to do.
And it was all out of love.
Because now you're treaded and you climb rocks and you're forced your life.
I think the thing I've also realized is like, if we say anything,
about melee players on this show,
even if that player isn't a listener of the show,
it always makes it to them.
That's what I've realized over the ears.
It always finds its way.
I get kind of charmed.
It was, uh, do you know 33 Toes,
the beach player?
Uh, no.
Messaged me and was like,
I paused the podcast on this frame.
And I was like, oh, you watch?
Because 33 Toes was upset back in that old,
like, final bad melee episode with Dawson,
where Dawson was kind of talking about
how like the scenes like I don't know
not as interesting or something anymore
and it was like a little it's like that classic
little like melee Twitter
I'm mad
but but yeah it was
whenever I find out someone I like
respect likes the show I'm like
really
Maddie watches the damn Patreon content
she fucking better
she's bad at that's her homeowner
I'm sponsoring Ellie I don't think he fucking I don't think
Ellie ever watch his damn show in his life
Elliot's watching the wire for like the fucking 17th time
yeah he's watching the watch
again going, man, Slim Charles really got away with it, didn't he?
Shut up, Elliot.
Elliot's reimagining that, like, the whole plot of that show in Vancouver, I think.
I think he has an idea that he's living out the wire in Vancouver.
Dude, you know what's funny is there's a tournament coming up called the Big Shorten in New York, but it lies.
No, no, no, no.
No more melee moves in tournament names.
I don't know why they're doing this.
Hey, Eric, welcome to Star K-O Saturdays.
Welcome to U.
Have some fucking personality.
Welcome to Upsmash Alley.
Welcome, welcome.
You know what?
And this overlaps with Salami's Chud League,
which is happening in the same weekend.
And I was like,
I was like, aren't you going to go to Chud League, Elliot?
It's like, no.
I'm going to pictures.
I have papers.
I'm sponsoring.
Elliot, why aren't you going to Chud League?
Why aren't you going to Salam's Chud League?
And I was like, to be fair, I'm like,
all right, let me look at the Star G for it.
I try to type it in.
It's the Chud League from last year.
I messaged Salaam.
I was like,
Chud League's still going or what?
Because he asked me to commentate it.
And a while back,
and I said,
sure, because it's in a house.
And he's like,
yes, I was like,
there's no start GG page.
He's like, I know,
I'm doing it all on Excel.
Like, all right, man.
Excel, sick.
He's like, I'll probably make a page for it
for posterity after.
But he's like,
I'm doing it now on,
I'm doing it on Excel
and I'm like, sure, bro.
Is Excel not just harder than challenge?
But something,
there's something magical about Salam,
Mr. Motion himself,
Oh my God, by the way, I try to find this DM to ask him.
I go into Discord DMs, which are insanely annoying to search for.
I type in Salam.
It doesn't come up.
I type in Salam Habib, nothing comes up.
I'm like, girlfriend's next to me.
She's like, is any Mr. Motion?
I'm like, right, right.
Mr. Motion.
And then I type in Mr. Motion.
His Discord actual at is Aiden McCakeg.
Did you know that?
So, okay, I have a follow-up.
Oh, my God.
There's a lovely melee player.
from San Diego named Leang.
And Leang,
is he a old school?
Leang, I've been around for a while, I think.
And, uh,
we don't like,
we're,
we know each other, right?
But like through the context of melee.
So we haven't talked at all
since I stopped playing melee.
I get a message from Leang.
It pops up.
I'm like, oh, interesting.
I wonder what this says.
And it's like a bunch of questions
about Chud League.
And my answer is like,
uh,
mixing up that.
like I used to run Star League
and like you're taking a nose
turr, a nose dive in rebranding.
And you're asking about Chud League
you might think like I'm still the Tia or something like that.
And then no, Leigh
knew he was messaging Salam
but just typed in
typed in my name
knowing that that is Salami's Discord
username and it got to you.
And it went to me and then
messaged me thinking it was
Salam. Which is creating all these
problems in my life where like people look up
Aidan McCaig on Discord. It's just
Salami. It's Mr. Motion.
It's Mr. Motion.
Yeah, he is kind of haunted, dude.
So me and Salami used to beef a ton
because he was a dick and it was
it was fine. Eventually we just squashed
and it's this beautiful thing I always talk about.
It's like, man, I fucking love that guy and we used to
hate each other and that's cool.
But I remember he was in the 562
Mele Discord. It wasn't even
necessarily the melee dude. It was like the 5662
like 560
Mele slash gaming
Discord for the boys
Yeah
And I remember I infiltrated it
I created
Because I wanted to see if Salam was talking shit
So I could be like heard you were talking shit
Right
And so I got a different Discord account
And it was named Gamer 7
And I joined 562
At Malay as Gamer 7
Hey guys
This is like that
And I just sat and I waited
And he never eaten
And he didn't say it
That ad they were running on Twitch.
It was like an internet ad
that kept playing over Twitch streams
and it was like The Legend 7.
Like that's you made up that name.
I was Gamer 7 and I think my profile picture at the time
was Minnesota Fats
from like the Sega Genesis version of Minnesota Fats
that was my PFP for a long time actually.
And yeah I think
I think I remember this because
I think I'm like that account still in the Discord
Gamer 7.
I think Gamer 7 is still in 5662
Melee. I'll have to ask so long.
I had to make a, I was helping, when I worked at off brand, I was doing something for Ludd.
I think it was like a trailer for like World's Greatest or something.
But I needed to create a fake Discord conversation between Ludwig and a creator.
And it was much easier than Photoshop to just make a fake Discord for Ludwig and then actually
type it all out. And so I did. And I just use one of my secondary Discord accounts.
And, but it's just, at the time, Ludwig's picture was Linus Tech Tips.
I don't know if you guys remember when his Discord profile picture was Linus kind of looking at the camera like this.
Oh yeah, that Linus image.
Yeah.
And then it named just being Ludwig.
But I never changed it and I don't know that accounts login.
So whenever I search for Ludwig, that's the first one.
And I have to make sure I don't send it to myself.
That's so funny fun.
And I do it every single time I try to message Ludwig.
What did you have other Discord accounts for?
Because when Discord, uh, when Discord dropped, that's the,
that's the image.
When Discord said,
hey, we're switching
to usernames,
I made a second account
to have my name.
Oh, because yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just so someone else doesn't take my name.
Because I'm smarter than Aden.
Yeah, yeah.
You are smarter than Aidan
and you don't suffer the consequences.
It's just, because Mr. Motion has his name.
That's right.
That's my full name.
Mr. Motion doesn't have my name.
So think about that.
Stupid fuck.
You know, something,
something happened.
It's waited.
Something happened.
Something happened.
and I was out
I bought, we went to a bookstore
and I bought Diary of a Wimpy Kid
in Swedish so that I can
read it. That's a really good idea.
We're getting childish literature to help
bolster your language.
El cheese touch, I don't know,
Swedish, not French. What would they call it there?
What were the cheese touch?
Diarran of a
Ethesian stinker.
I should actually know this. I should know this.
Cheese touch. That should be easy.
What's cheese? Come on, Aidan.
Bromage.
Isn't it like smorg?
Smorg?
Is it smorg?
Is it smorg?
Because it sounds like it's not smorg.
Imagine you had to order cheese at a restaurant
and then you get humiliated in front of your girlfriend.
You don't think about horrible situations like this, do you?
Because the tinct shirt clouts your mind.
Ost.
Oh, that's close.
Smorg was close.
What is smorg?
Diper.
The name of a robot.
I might be thinking of a sandwich.
Dogbuck for a al-a-a-a-law.
Nina Fons.
Okay.
Diary for all my fans.
So I buy this at a store, right?
And then me and my girlfriend go to a bakery,
like a really well-known bakery in Stockholm.
There's a nice street that you can sit on
in this outdoor seating area.
And we're sitting down,
the only two seats are next to these two people
who are speaking to each other in Italian.
And we ask if we can like,
you know, take the two seats next to them, sit down.
and we wanted to like, you know, get some bread, get some coffee, and read our books.
And she's reading this book called, like, the Taiwan Travelog.
And I don't know, like, the cover looks really, like, simple, elegant.
It is like what you kind of imagine an adult would read when you look at the cover of it.
Of this book?
Of her book.
Oh, okay.
The Taiwan Travelogue.
Yeah, yeah.
And she's sitting across from the woman.
and that cover in the middle,
that like that white one there.
And the woman looks over at her book
like mid-conversation and is like,
oh my God,
I love that book.
And they have like a back and forth about it for a pit.
And then I've been reading.
And I've been reading.
And then they're kind of like
finishing their conversation.
And then she looks,
I'm not getting it.
Oh my God,
she looks over to me and she starts the sentence.
She starts the sentence.
And what are you?
And then she stops herself
because she sees that I'm,
I'm literally open to the cheese touch page
in dire of a wimpy kid.
You have like a chest harness on.
It's only a leash.
And the guy she's with is like looking over
and you can see his brow kind of furrow.
and then they just go back to speaking to each other.
Wow.
I'm just so, I'm so fucking embarrassed.
And I legitimately, I think about it for like a good 10 seconds.
Like, is it worth me interjecting and explaining why I'm reading this book right now?
And I'm like, no, I just have to take that.
God to your self-control.
And you're licking a finger and turning the page.
And then I keep reading my Swedish page about the chief.
touch and then move to the next page.
What?
We're there for 30 more minutes and I'm like,
shouldn't have done that to Rowley.
Really fucked up to do to rally.
You're like weeping?
I loved that fucking book growing up.
I don't know why.
I never read it. I know why.
I loved it.
Greg is kind of a...
I love Captain Rutherland.
It's a funny book to read.
But Greg is also so, I mean, he's the wimpy kid, I guess.
He's just kind of like, even as a kid, I remember thinking, like, Greg's kind of a piece of shit.
That's why you'd hate it.
Yeah, I would.
I didn't like Doug for this reason.
Oh, you'd hate Greg.
Yeah, I guess.
You'd fucking hate Greg.
What kind of, does Greg eventually rally and become brave?
Because Doug kind of never did.
He was always a pussy.
He's his brother, doesn't he?
Kind of.
I think the problem.
Spoilers, by the way.
This is, keep in mind.
Loaded diaper.
I haven't read.
I haven't, I'm reading the first one.
in Swedish right now. But I remember I had read like the first six books, you know, like when they
were coming out. And one thing that annoyed me was like in the stories, Greg will come to some
like conclusion or lesson about like being a better friend or being a, you know, asserting himself or
something like that. But then for the sake of the next book continuing the story of him being a wimpy kid,
like he would just like reset as a person. You would become wimbing.
Wimpy. It's like why Samus loses all our weapons.
Yeah. Yeah. Because you have to get him back for the game.
You have to get them back for the game. Yeah. And so I think that was the issue. The series is still
coming up. They keep making new ones. And I think he's presumably still sucks.
They ever liked that one. They ever laughed at that one. Well, guys, sorry about no dubbing.
But you got us. You got your uncles. You got your uncles.
You guys are hot, cool uncles
who are all thinking about each other's body
If you love the Dota All-Star Forum,
remember, I like what you like
And I'll see you guys next week
See you next week, dude
