All right. All right, welcome to the Young Turks, Jank U Granite, Kusparan with you guys. Obviously, we have plenty of updates on Israel and Gaza.
Starting point is 00:01:59 We also have plenty of updates on the Republican mess here back home and how they can't seem to figure out anything. It's preposterous and speaking of preposterous fortunately or unfortunately updates on Mr. preposterous, Donald Trump as well, and what he wanted to do with his wife. Allegedly. Buckle up. Okay. All right, well, we begin with just this.
Starting point is 00:02:24 This utterly tragic and ongoing war, but we do have some good news to share right at the top and it has to do with the hostages. We're coming on the air with breaking news in the Middle East where two hostages taken by Hamas were just released. It comes three days after Hamas released the first hostages to Americans and a deal brokered by Cutter's government. Hamas released two more hostages today. This time, two elderly women who are Israeli were released. First they were released to the Red Cross before being taken to a military base in Israel. Now here are more details about the two women and the hostage release. As you mentioned a few days ago, three days ago, two American citizens were released by Hamas
Starting point is 00:03:13 and reunited with their families brought to safety. And then a short while ago, Hamas announced the release of two female Israeli citizens. They are Nurit Yitzhak and Yohefid Lipschitz. And Hamas said in a statement, and this release was confirmed by multiple sources, including a family source, that they were released for humanitarian reasons and urgent health reasons. Hamas also said that it accused Israel of violating agreements, of violating terms of their release, but it didn't provide any specifics. So what we do know is that now we've seen two releases, not back to back, but two in fairly
Starting point is 00:03:56 close succession. Now just last week, following the release of the first two hostages, the mother and daughter who were released by Hamas, Hamas had said that they were planning on releasing two more hostages. At the time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that that was not to be believed, that it was nothing more than propaganda and lies. But I am happy to share with you today the two women did get released. Now let's take a look at a photo of them. Noret is 79 years old in Yochabad is 85 years old. And the Biden administration has been urging the Israeli government to avoid or at least hold off on a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip because,
Starting point is 00:04:39 they argue that that would put the hostages at risk. So I don't really understand how that makes sense because doing a ground invasion would allow them to do targeted military operations, targeting Hamas. Instead, right now you have IDF soldiers bombing the hell out of the Gaza Strip from their remote location. How is that in any way better for the hostages that are currently in the Gaza Strip? I don't know, maybe people have an answer that I'm not privy to, but what do you think, Cenk. Yeah, I don't think we're even trying to get the hostages. And when I say we actually should be clear, I think the U.S. cares about getting the hostages. I think Israel doesn't seem to show any concern about that. Now, before you think that's outrageous, let me explain
Starting point is 00:05:24 why I say that. So as far as I've seen, Israel has not promised anything in return for the hostages. They just say, you just need to give it to us or otherwise we're going to do this collective punishment and kill a whole bunch of innocent civilians. Okay, that's a threat, I get it. But if Hamas returned all the hostages, which is what we desperately want, Israel has not promised to not do a ground invasion or to stop bombing. So look, guys, there's no moral defense of taking the hostages or keeping the hostages. This is not a moral conversation.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Now we're having a tactical conversation. and so can anyone explain to me why Hamas would give the hostages back if it wouldn't stop the bombings and it wouldn't stop a ground invasion. So normally you might hate Hamas, you might despise Hamas, but the way that these things work is you give something, they give something. They took the hostages so they get something in return, not just for the mere sake of brutality. If they wanted brutality, it would be tortured and killed them by now. They're keeping them as leverage.
Starting point is 00:06:30 So if we offer nothing in return, you could say, hey, you know what, we shouldn't offer anything in return. Let's consider them dead, right? Okay, I don't think that that's a good position. I don't think it's a morally defensible position. I mean, look, I see one of those hostages there, right? Naurit looks almost identical to Dave Kohler, who you see on the show every once in a while. He's one of my co-founders to his mom, okay? And so I want those hostages back desperately.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Whether they're American in Israeli, it doesn't matter. There's a bunch of Thai hostages, but dropping bombs on buildings and tunnels indiscriminately definitely doesn't get you the hostages back. No. And it might kill the hostages. So far, I have not seen one proposal for actually getting the hostages back. I'm going to be unequivocal in stating this. I'm not going to walk on eggshells because I have the goods and I want to give you the receipts after I make the statement.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Benjamin Nanyahu doesn't care about the hostages. He doesn't care about getting the hostages back. And it became abundantly clear to me at least after reading this unbelievable report in Heretz about when he did meet with the host- the family members of the hostages. They're seeking answers. He should be comforting them. He should be expressing to them what the plan is to get their family members and loved ones back from Hamas. But that is not what happened. Instead, he used it as an opportunity to install propagandists who basically told these poor people to just stop whining and forget about your family members.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I'm not kidding, let me give you the excerpts from this piece. Again, it was reported by Heretz. Representatives of five families were present at the meeting that was coordinated between the prime minister's office and the family's headquarters for captives and missing people. During the meeting, however, members of another family, unknown to the headquarters personnel, had unexpectedly joined the discussion. According to sources, the unknown family's claims spurred an uproar in the room. Now, according to a journalist there, Ben Caspett, one of the four family members said during the meeting that he, He loves his daughter, no less than the rest of you love your family members. But at the end, we have to look at the people of Israel and the future of our existence here.
Starting point is 00:09:05 The family member then told Netanyahu to act coolly and decisively. Senior officials at the family's headquarters accused the prime minister's office of deliberately involving these unknown family members in the meeting, since they were politically convenient for Netanyahu. The unknown family members were also captured in photos alongside Netanyahu, although it is not clear who took. them. So the prime minister and his office claim, no, we didn't, what are you talking about? We didn't invite anyone. This is just a, you know, these are people who have been victimized by Hamas. Their family members have been taken hostage and they showed up on their own. We have nothing to do with this. Okay, hold on. So the story gets a little more questionable.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Journalist Jackie Levi and his partner whose five family members were abducted to Gaza said last night in an interview that Netanyahu tried to create a divide between families. There's a deliberate intention here. We are sure of that. No one knew him, meaning the guy who showed up and started defending Netanyahu and how he's handling the hostage situation. We're looking into who he is and who he represents because it cannot be that he just showed up out of nowhere to a meeting with the prime minister. So this guy comes out and says, I'm going to clear my name. I'm going to let everyone know who I am.
Starting point is 00:10:19 So his name is Zvika Moore. He said that his son Ethan had been missing since the attack. And he said no one can just opportunely come in and meet with the prime minister. We represent four families whose loved ones were abducted. And we wanted to convey a national message to Netanyahu. We need to stop this whiny behavior. We need to win the war. In a time of war, the people of Israel have to make sacrifices even when our children are there and prevail.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Well, Heretz updated the story. Guess who that guy was? Let's take a look at the next graphic. It has since emerged that the man is a far right activist with no ties to members of the Netanyahu family, but no known ties to the hostages. Of course. Look, if you can't tell the Benjamin Netanyahu is a giant liar, you're not following the news very carefully. Or you're too biased to see straight. Like, it's unfortunately, it's very similar to the guys who can't tell the Donald Trump is a liar. Everything is a lie. I'm not corrupt. I'm not getting rid of the Supreme Court to help my corruption case. We just, you know, what, the Supreme Court shouldn't be allowed to, you know, make these decisions
Starting point is 00:11:31 that dares to disagree with my government, right? Everything's a lie. I'm trying to get the hostages. But I brought in this rando to tell you we shouldn't, yeah, we shouldn't even get the hostages. Stop whining. And we should, you should stop whining. There's nobody who has a son who's a hostage that goes in and tells everybody, we should We shouldn't bother to get the hostages.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Why didn't Netanyahu put in a plant there to yell at the family members to stop whining? And that we shouldn't bother to get the hostages. That's because that yao is a goddamn liar and he doesn't care about the hostages at all. And by the way, if he cared about the Israelis that were killed, he had a funny way of showing it. Terrible intelligence, just let Hamas walk in there and do all this damage. And now the only thing he cares about is how many Palestinians can he kill? So so far he's killed three times as many Palestinian civilians as Israelis that were killed. And I guess he's just counting up all of the body count that he's put out there.
Starting point is 00:12:35 And I don't know what kind of a sick, depraved human being Benjamin Netanyahu is. But he has no interest in your family members. He doesn't seem to have any interest in protecting Israelis. What he cares about is himself and how many Palestinians he can murder. So with that, let's move on to updates on the crisis in Gaza and, unfortunately, the escalating violence in the West Bank. Israel's strikes continue to rain misery across Gaza. And while desperately needed aid started to trickle in over the weekend, the United Nations estimates the Palestinian territory needs at least 100 trucks a day to meet the most base. needs. In the north, the Israeli military has again told residents to evacuate ahead of its
Starting point is 00:13:22 looming ground invasion. But as Israel continues to pound targets across Gaza, nowhere it seems is safe. That's right. There is no part of Gaza that is safe. The civilian population there is told to evacuate to a certain part of Gaza, and the part they evacuate to ends up being riddled with all sorts of airstrikes. Now, the Palestinian Health Ministry, which, which is controlled by Hamas, has reported that the death toll in Gaza has now passed 5,000 people as Israeli officials confirm that the IDF has launched hundreds of strikes in the area. Now, the reason why everyone keeps reporting what the health ministry is saying about the death toll in Gaza is because there is a blockade, and it is incredibly difficult
Starting point is 00:14:10 to get independent reporting in regard to the death toll. So apologies, but that's That is the reason why you guys are getting the information specifically from that source. Now, the IDF on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, it fired on 320 targets in Gaza, including tunnels. And what it described as command centers run by Hamas and the smaller militant group, Palestinian Islamic jihad. Now, Israeli airstrikes have left buildings in absolute ruin. A strike on Monday, for instance, Monday morning, hit a residential building in Jabalya, killing 17,000. people and injuring dozens more, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza. Among the dead were at least 11 members of Kahil Abu Yahyaz family, six of whom were children.
Starting point is 00:14:58 So he said that some of the family members killed had actually left south where they were told to evacuate to. But after heavy bombardments, they returned north. If they were still in Kahn Yunus, they would also have been killed, he said. People are being targeted. in places where they were told were safe, or they were told were safe. Now, the bombings are also leading to the global South skepticism toward the United States and its concerns for war crimes committed by Russia. Remember, that war is ongoing. And so while the U.S. has no problem condemning the war crimes committed by Russia,
Starting point is 00:15:37 the U.S. also has no problem providing cover for the war crimes committed by the IDF and the Israeli government. Now, the global south is arguing that the U.S. really has no leg to stand on as it stands with Israel as it carries out specifically the war crimes in Gaza. And according to the U.N. director for human rights watch, if the U.S. and other Western governments want to convince the rest of the world, they are serious about human rights and the other laws of war. Principles, they rightly apply to Russian atrocities in Ukraine and to Hamas atrocities in Israel. They also have to apply to Israel's brutal disregard for human life in Gaza. I have a lot more to share with you, including the deaths of dozens of journalists in Gaza. Jank, any thoughts?
Starting point is 00:16:44 Yeah, this siege of Gaza is totally inexcusable. So if you were doing specific operations with special forces to rescue hostages, no one would complain about that. If you were doing special forces operations against Hamas leaders, no one would complain about that. That is self-defense and going after the people who hit you. Dropping 6,000 bombs, and that was a couple of days ago, so they're probably up to 10,000 by now.
Starting point is 00:17:08 But anyway, I won't give numbers that I can't back up here. But obviously thousands and thousands of bombs onto buildings. Now 10 out of 25 hospitals are destroyed or out of operation completely. 50 ambulances hit. And the list goes on and on. I need you guys to understand what happens when a bomb hits because apparently people in the West don't understand. A lot of our audience does obviously, but certainly no right winger seems to understand. And most of the media doesn't understand.
Starting point is 00:17:36 It incinerates people. So we talk about the grotesque things that Hamas did. They killed babies, they killed grandmothers. That is terrible, you're right to be disgusted by that. Well, what is Israel doing? They're also killing babies, they're also killing grandmothers, they're lighting them on fire. That's what bombs do, or their bodies explode upon impact. So if you saw a video of Hamas taking a poor Israeli grandmother and blowing her up on camera,
Starting point is 00:18:04 the whole world would vomit at how outrageous that is, including me. But that is what Israel is doing right now to thousands of innocent civilians. Over 2,000 children killed, incinerated. So I need you to wake up to what's happening. It is not okay. We should not be funding this kind of death destruction. And if we're being honest, if anyone is being honest, genocide. So you look, the kid, the parents are, this is according to CNN, the parents,
Starting point is 00:18:39 The parents are writing the names of the children on their legs. And they're writing their names on their own legs. Why? In case they get leveled, the building that they're in. And they're digging out your dead children from the rubble. You could figure out who it was that died. Or if your children are digging you out of the rubble, they can see their mom's name and know that they have died. This is inexcusable under any and all circumstances.
Starting point is 00:19:12 And as an American, I'm not going to co-sign onto this. We shouldn't send Israel a single dollar anymore, let alone to $105 insane billion that Joe Biden is proposing and his government is proposing also for Ukraine, Taiwan, et cetera. But most of that is going to go to defense contractors. It's not even going to go to these people. And it's certainly not going to protect innocent Israelis, and it's going to kill innocent Palestinians. We can't do anything about Hamas. Hamas is not going to listen to us. But Israel is supposed to be our ally. It's supposed to be a democracy.
Starting point is 00:19:47 It's supposed to be a decent and moral government. Does it look like it is under the leadership of Netanyahu and this lunatic right-wing government they have that does not value Palestinian lives at all? So we have to be honest about the depravity going on right now. And so one more question for you guys. If it is terrible that Amas killed 1,400 people, and it definitely is. Why isn't it terrible that Israel has killed three times as many innocent civilians? Be honest with yourself and ask yourself that question. Do their lives matter to you?
Starting point is 00:20:24 Or do you think it's sport? Or let's just drop a bomb on them and kill them and have their heads, explode. Little babies. Try to care about someone else. I know for a lot of people that are under rage right now, and all they want is war and blood and death. It's too much to ask for. Sorry, I'm going to have to disrupt what you're thinking and how, oh, my people, my people. Everybody's always thinking about their people. How about the other people? I say that to Hamas, just as much as I say to Israel. We're all human beings. And right now, our government is not treating Palestinians as human beings and it's disgusting.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Out of the hundreds of our members of Congress, only 20 of them have called on Israel to engage in a ceasefire. Israel refuses to. They will continue bombing the Gaza Strip, knowing full well that the majority of the casualties happen to be Palestinian civilians. And by the way, that includes Muslims, yes, but also it includes Christians who happen to live in the Gaza Strip as well. Justin Amash, a former member of Congress, has spoken about two of his relatives who have died as a result of these airstrikes and the brutality in Gaza Strip. And I mentioned that journalists have died, dozens have already died, including 23 journalists who have been killed since the October 7th terrorist attacks that were carried out in Israel by Hamas.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Eight journalists have been injured and three are missing or have been detained. The majority of those killed, 19 were Palestinians in Gaza, where reporters face power and internet outages, and they're under that Israeli siege, as well as the loss of their offices, homes, and family members. One Lebanese journalist, and three Israelis were also killed, according to the Press Freedom Group. Now, in an interview with CNN today, the former Israeli ambassador to the U.S. argued that maybe it would be a better idea for the Israeli government. to contain Hamas in the Gaza Strip and instead direct their attention to Lebanon where Hezbollah operates because the argument is that Hezbollah has larger numbers and is a larger threat to Israel.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So understand what that would mean, okay? Understand the kind of thinking behind that. One of the hardest parts of getting older is feeling like something's off in your body, but not knowing exactly what. It's not just aging. It's often your hormones too. When they fall out of balance, everything feels off. But here's the good news. This doesn't have to be the story of your next chapter. Visit happy mammoth.com today and get your old self back naturally. I would expand the war to other countries, including Lebanon. And it also doesn't help that the United States deployed its veto at the United Nations Security Council to shoot down a very mildly worded draft resolution that was put forward by Brazil calling for a humanitarian pause, meaning a ceasefire. In fact, the United States was the sole no vote
Starting point is 00:24:06 on the table, even as allies, including France, were voting in favor of that resolution. Now, let's go to the humanitarian aid. The White House said that President Biden and Israeli President, or I'm sorry, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed that there would be a continued flow of critical aid into the Gaza Strip, but it's just not enough. And Israel is not allowing for any fuel to get into the Gaza Strip, which of course is a huge problem because the hospitals need that fuel in order to operate properly. Gaza has received food and medicine, what emergency officials call a drop in a bucket of need, but no fuel which the densely populated region needs to run the electricity generators that supply lights,
Starting point is 00:24:51 pump water and run vehicles, including ambulances. And the war has already spread to the West Bank, which is not at all governed by Hamas. So more on that in the next video. Including the Israeli occupied West Bank, where Israel has carried out an airstrike on what it called a terrorist compound in the city of Janine. Fueling even more anger on the streets.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Israeli snipers shot at several protesters. We witnessed at least three. The fury here isn't just at Israel and its bombardment of Gaza. It's also at President Biden, who they say has given Israel unconditional support. Since Hamas's deadly rampage two weeks ago, 95 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, bringing the total to over 250 this year alone, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the highest death toll here in at least two decades. So two Palestinians died from the airstrike targeting a mosque in the West Bank.
Starting point is 00:25:53 The Israeli military described the al-Ansar mosque in Janine as a militant compound belonging to Hamas. And Islamic jihad, a smaller and more radical Palestinian militant group. It said the militants had carried out several attacks in recent months and were planning another imminent assault. Just a reminder that while Gaza is controlled by Hamas, that is not the case in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority governs and controls the West Bank and actually works with Israel, which has actually made it incredibly unpopular with the people there considering the brutality that the people in the West Bank have been facing as a result of both the Israeli government, but also the Israeli settlers who remain undeterred by the Israeli government as they treat
Starting point is 00:26:39 the Palestinian population there with brutality and continue to build illegal settlements. Jenk. So the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank is in big trouble because they keep supporting the government of Israel when their people despise the government of Israel. Why do they people despise it? Oh, they're just generally anti-Semitic? No, there is real anti-Semitism. But the real problem there is that they have been oppressed and brutalized and colonized for 56 straight years.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Wouldn't you hate them? I mean, but I'm being honest and asking you a real question, if the shoe was on the other foot, so if the Palestinians or Muslims had been occupying Jews for 56 years and had kept their thumb on them and their boot on their neck, and they couldn't get water or electricity at any moment if the Muslims decided to cut it off. And they got right now in Gaza,
Starting point is 00:27:33 they got 45 babies that are incubators that are running out of fuel. The minute they run out of fuel, all those babies are dead, let alone all the other people that are on life support, we're just condemning them to death. Now, if they did that to Israelis, if they did that to Jews, I would be so enraged, and I would hope that you would be enraged. Imagine it if it was your people, whether the Israelis, Christians, it doesn't matter. But no, when it's Palestinians, no one gives a damn. And now the longer the occupation continues, the less the Palestinians are going to want to be led by people who work with Israel on so-called security.
Starting point is 00:28:19 So what is that going to lead to? Think about it for a second. It's going to lead to more radicalism. And right now, Israel has this absurd plan that America and all of the dumb pundits on TV are pretending is a normal plan. Oh, when the Palestinians reject Hamas, that's when we will stop bombing them. Well, how are they supposed to tell you that they're rejecting Hamas? There's no elections. Hamas ended elections. How are they supposed to tell you?
Starting point is 00:28:48 And you want them to pick moderates as you're dropping bombs on their children's heads. That's an insane proposition. Well, the other thing is, look, I mean, the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank really doesn't provide much of an incentive for working with Israel, right? Because Israel's done nothing to protect Palestinians from the settlers. Okay, over 500,000 Israelis live in settlements across the West Bank that most of the international community, with the exception of the United States, of course, considers illegal while the territories more than 2.5 million Palestinians live under Israeli military
Starting point is 00:29:26 rule. Get them out of there. So they argue, no, but seriously, though, I answer the question. I really want to know. How does the Israeli government propose that Palestinians reject Hamas? And if they do, then no problem. We can live in peace, we can coexist, no more violence, no more military strikes, no more air strikes.
Starting point is 00:29:48 They're doing that in the West Bank as we speak. It's the same argument over and over again. Netanyahu has done nothing to protect Palestinians from illegal settlements. In fact, he has encouraged the illegal settlements. Those settlements, those settlers are lunatic religious fundamentalists. Just like Hamas is lunatic religious fundamentalists. And so their ideas, this is my land, I get to steal as much of it as I want. By the way, they contribute nothing to Israel.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Nothing. No, Yahweh told me not to help the other citizens of Israel. But Yahweh told me to rob Palestinians and murder them in the streets where they lay. And Israel, again, their right wing government, Netanyahu. Go get him, go get him, kill the Palestinians. He's bloodthirsty, he's disgusting, he's disgusting. How the hell can you, you say how can you have peace with Hamas? How can you have peace with Netanyahu?
Starting point is 00:30:41 Netanyahu always says, I'm gonna murder your civilians left and right, left and right. I'm never gonna give them freedom. Never, he's never proposed peace. So now he sends it more settlers to kill more Palestinians. You do peace with your enemies. So this idea of, oh, we won't do peace until Hamas begs us and Hamas was broken and the Palestinians are broken. Hey, good news, Israeli right wingers, the Palestinians are broken. They're broken.
Starting point is 00:31:11 How much more do you want to break them? How much more are you going to occupy them? They want them gone. How much do you want to put your boot on their neck? Of all people in this world, after all that the Jews have gone through, after all the horrors that they have suffered, Please don't be the oppressors. Please don't be the oppressors. They are and they're going to continue to be.
Starting point is 00:31:32 That is not your role. That is not what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to be the moral core of this country, America, and of the world. But instead, Netanyahu has burned all the goodwill. And he's now said, ha, ha, I've killed three times as much as Hamas. Congratulations. You've killed three times as many innocent civilians as Hamas. That's who Netanyahu is.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Get rid of the son of a bitch and get the peace. Get the peace. Vote him out, vote him out, vote him out. He's also corrupt. He doesn't care about Israel. All he cares about is himself. All right, we'll be right back. All right, back on TYT, Jank, Anna, Green Dragon, and Craig Hubbard.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Thank you, guys. One of our members, Light Body, wrote, and I love the honesty from these guys. But remember, guys, it's not just our audience, it's you guys. If you don't, members make this show possible. Without you guys, we got no show. So thank you for allowing us to be your voice to some degree. It's a great, great honor. We appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:32:53 T.Y.T.com slash join, Anna. All right, let's get to our next story. Do you guys have any idea how clownish you look? Well, you know, Jake, I'm very fond of saying that Congress is alike like high school, but even more so. I said that to Congressman Wilmack last week, high school, and he said that that's an insult to high school students. It's more like junior high. CNN's Jake Tapper calls out the embarrassing behavior of House Republicans who have yet to settle on a speaker, which means no official business can be condemned. This follows President Joe Biden's request for a $106 billion aid package to Israel,
Starting point is 00:33:34 to Ukraine, and to Taiwan. The government is quickly approaching the November 17th expiration of the continuing resolution that keeps our government funded, but Republicans have wasted three weeks playing games in the House. Now on Friday, Representative Jim Jordan lost his third floor vote with 25 Republican defectors and was ultimately dropped as the Republican nominee for House Speaker. There's a great deal of frustration toward the eight Republicans who voted in favor of ousting the previous House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy. And after the third vote that basically did away with Jim Jordan's ability to be the next House Speaker, Representative Matt Gates, the number one provocateur in this entire mess, told the reporters the following.
Starting point is 00:34:20 The holdouts against Jim Jordan have no asks, no goals, have no objectives other than to see the eight of us suffer some consequence for having removed McCarthy. So we've made them an offer. The eight of us have said that we are willing to accept censure, sanction, suspension, removal from the Republican conference. We will, of course, remain Republicans. We will continue to vote with Republicans on Republican principles. But if what these holdouts need is a pound of our flesh, we're willing to give it to them in order to see them elect Jim Jordan for speaker. Now, Jim Jordan will not be speaker because he lost three floor votes.
Starting point is 00:35:00 And Tom McClintock, who is a fellow Republican, responded to Matt Gates with an open letter that's salty to say the least, writing, quote, we should have been moved by your willingness to suffer censure, suspension, or removal from the conference. to enforce your personal preferences on the overwhelming majority of your unenlightened colleagues, we should have appreciated how you and 206 House Democrats saved us from a Republican speaker, but your sacrifice is not in vain. You have succeeded in replacing the outdated concept of majority rule with an exciting new standard that a speaker must be elected by 98.2% of the Republican conference, someday a Messiah will be born unto us who can achieve this miraculous threshold.
Starting point is 00:35:48 And on that day, your judgment will be vindicated and you will be hailed as the geniuses that you are. As you can tell, he's being sarcastic and he's pretty furious with Matt Gates and the other seven Republicans who ousted McCarthy. And here's how he signed off on that open letter. With this in mind, I modestly suggest that you plan your martyrdom in the only way that truly matters, to have the wisdom to see the damage you have done to our country and to have the courage to set things right before it's too late. Now, there are several other Republicans who have now decided to enter this entire struggle for speaker. That includes Andy Biggs, Tim Burchett, Nancy Mace, Eli Crane, Matt Rosendale, Matt Gates, Bob Good. So they're saying,
Starting point is 00:36:37 all right, we'll see if we can make it to speaker. They will apparently hold some elections tomorrow, or they'll vote tomorrow to determine who the nominee will be. So I'll have a lot more to share with you tomorrow. But, Jank, what are your thoughts on what's currently happening? Yeah, I just want to be clear. The list we just read are the people who voted against McCarthy. They're not the ones running for.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Oh, my bad. I read the wrong list. Let's go to Graphics 6 real quick. These are the Republicans read the totally wrong list. So the nine candidates running for Speaker, House Majority with Tom Emmer, Kevin Hearn, Austin Scott, Byron Donald's, Jack Bergman, Mike Johnson, Pete Sessions, Dan Muser, and Gary Palmer. Fun story, only a few of those people voted, only two of them.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Tom, Emmer, and Austin Scott voted to certify the 2020 presidential election. Yeah, which, by the way, just as we're coming on air, Byron Donald's dropped out. So now there's eight left. So, guys, the Republicans have an unsolvable problem. So two of them did not join the coup attempt, Emmer and Scott that Anna just told you about. So they voted to certify the legitimate results of the election. Well, the radicals in the Republican Party,
Starting point is 00:37:51 which is unfortunately among the House members, the great majority of the Republicans, might never forgive them for not trying to do a coup against America. Oh, they didn't help with the fake elector plot. We could have stolen this government. We could have stolen and ended democracy. Boo! So those guys, the Matt Gates of the world, are never going to vote for someone who isn't
Starting point is 00:38:12 a bona fide lunatic and liar. Now, on the other hand, the people that are whatever is left of theoretical modern, no one in the Republican Party in the House is a moderate. The most moderate of them would have been the most conservative Republican when I was growing up. But like these guys have all left the reservation. They're all massive right wingers, okay? But even among those, there's some that said, oh, yeah, I'm a barbaric conservative. But Biden won the election.
Starting point is 00:38:47 We're really going to do a coup? So now for those guys, they don't want to vote for the radicals like Jim Jordan, Matt Gates, etc. Who wanted to say, yeah, screw America. Let's burn it to the ground. Let's steal this election. They don't want to vote for those guys. And why? Out of the goodness of their heart?
Starting point is 00:39:04 No, they're politicians. No, because they're worried they're going to lose in their districts. Because MAGA, if you're any MAGA guy listening out there, I know you think the election was stolen, but do you understand that the rest of the planet doesn't agree? I know you think you're the special one. That hasn't figured out because you saw it from Bob on Facebook and you saw something about a mule and a cracket. But the rest of the sane universe thinks that you got to.
Starting point is 00:39:31 or cuckoo for cocoa puffs and that we would never put someone in charge who thought who cares what the evidence was who cares who actually won the election let's just destroy the country and put Trump in we're not gonna vote for that guy so now how do you solve that problem you can't solve the problem the problem is the Republican Party so they so eventually they'll go back to the corporatists they will because their donors are gonna start to get furious. And remember, even the MAGA politicians are pretending. The MAGA voters are real. The MAGA politicians would flip on a dime if they thought there was more money on the other end,
Starting point is 00:40:08 okay? And more votes on the other end. So they'll likely come back to the corporatist swing. But right now, the Republican Party has a fight they can't end because one side is crazy, and the other side is barely hanging on to sanity. And they're never going to agree. So I don't know how this ends. Yeah, and look, it's definitely already hurting the perception that the American voters have toward Republican politicians. There's a new USA Today Suffolk University poll that shows that 67% of Americans believe that the House should elect a speaker as soon as possible compared to just 25% who say they don't care if a new speaker is chosen. I'm tempted to be in that 25%. What were they going to do anyway? They're not doing anything. The Republicans have
Starting point is 00:40:54 proposed nothing. Everything's falling apart. There is funding that's allocated for people struggling with drug addiction every year. And the previous bill has already expired. They're supposed to renew it. And they're supposed to renew it at a time where we're dealing with exploding fentanyl overdose deaths. And Congress can't do a damn thing. They can't fund anything. They can't operate or function without a speaker in the house.
Starting point is 00:41:21 That's how dire the situation is. And again, November 17th is when the continuing resolution that funds the government runs out. According to that same poll, by the way, 57% of Republican voters want the speaker drama to be over compared to 34% who are willing to put up with a longer delay in the House choosing its leader. Look, nearly everyone in Congress is an idiot. Can't anybody make a deal? So how do you make a deal? Here, let me give you a constructive solution. So if you're one of the Republicans that wants to win, Emma or Scott, who lives on this planet, and knows that Joe Biden won the election.
Starting point is 00:41:59 In order to get a deal, don't just go, okay, me, just me. You guys already tried that eight different times. So yes, unfortunately, I'm just keeping it real in terms of practical guidance here. I'm going to give the other side in a second. You go to the right wingers and you go, guys, Matt Gates, et cetera. Have you bled us enough? Have you done enough damage? Okay, what do you want?
Starting point is 00:42:22 Give me one thing you want. I'll give you one thing and one thing only. and the rest of us have to agree to it, whether it's like single voting on a single issue votes, et cetera, you're going to get that and you're going to vote for me and we're done with this. But these morons are going around and go, why don't you pick me? And they don't have a plan. There has to be a reason to pick you.
Starting point is 00:42:43 God, you're so unbelievably stupid. Okay, Democrats. Now, you're not off to hook. Why don't you make a plan and go to the moderate Republicans, so-called moderate Republicans and go. Get some concessions. Get some concessions. God damn it, isn't there anybody with a plan?
Starting point is 00:43:00 No. Right? Hakeem Jeffries, do you exist? Do you know anything about politics? Go to the Republicans and say, hey, you moderates. We're not going to vote for us, I get it, you would never agree to that. We're going to vote for Emma or Scott or whoever the hell you pick, and you're going to give us a vote on paid family leave and $15 minimum wage or whatever it is a two things. Do not ask for pork.
Starting point is 00:43:23 So far that's all the Democrats have asked for is pork for themselves and all about my chairmanship and my committee. Shut up and ask for something for your voters and then make a deal with them. At least try. Try to come up with a plan if you can handle it and try to make that deal. Nope, we're in deadlock because a bunch of morons got elected because all they do is serve their donors. They don't know how to think. All they know is how to take orders. So they're like, What do we do? What do we do? Figure it out, morons. You're supposed to be our so-called representatives. Well, we come back from the break. We've got a lot more to get to, including Donald Trump now distancing himself from Sidney Powell, claiming that she never served as
Starting point is 00:44:08 one of his attorneys. And this follows, of course, her decision to take a plea deal in the Georgia election meddling case. That and more coming up, don't miss it. Back on TYT, Jink, Anna Nalavoyan. Go ahead, Anna. Well, we have a completely different story to get to now, because now that Sidney Powell has decided to take a plea deal, Donald Trump has decided to pretend like he doesn't even know her, kind of. Let's watch. Joining us now by phone is Sidney Powell. She's a member obviously of the president's legal team. Also General Michael Flynn's defense attorney, a great American, one of the countries leading appellate attorneys. Sydney, first of all, thanks.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I know you are going every which direction right now, busy as you could possibly be. Let's start out right now with the president's path to victory here as you and the legal team see it. That was Lou Dobbs. back when he had a Fox business show, speaking with former Trump campaign lawyer, Sidney Powell, and you heard him refer to her as Trump campaign lawyer, Sidney Powell, before Fox told him to basically scram due to his lies about the 2020 presidential election. Now, even though it was abundantly clear on that day, which was November 19th, 2020, that Powell was in fact working for the Donald Trump, you know, legal team,
Starting point is 00:45:51 Trump now claims that no, no, what are you guys talking about? She was never on my legal team. So this might have something to do with the fact that she decided to take a plea deal in the Georgia election interference case. She is very likely going to testify and provide information in regard to the other co-conspirators in that case. One of those co-conspirators could be Donald Trump. And so that might explain why he's kind of distancing himself from her. But it's not the first time Trump has done that. So stick around. I'm going to tell you when he did it previously. But let's get to his recent truth social post where he wrote the following.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Despite the fake news reports to the contrary and without even reaching out to ask the Trump campaign, Ms. Powell was not my attorney and never was. In fact, she would have been conflicted. Ms. Powell did a valiant job of representing a very unfairly treated and governmentally abused General Mike Flynn, but to no avail. So he told the truth about one thing there. She did represent Mike Flynn to no avail. She was, in fact, Trump's most vocal defendant publicly as he was undergoing investigation
Starting point is 00:46:58 for his alleged ties to Russia during the Mueller investigation. Apparently Powell's outspokenness drew the attention of Trump's ex-national security advisor Michael Flynn, who hired Powell as his lawyer in 2019, more than a year after he pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with the Russian government. In fact, Trump tweeted about that at the time, saying that Mike Flynn, the 33-year-old, or 33-year war hero, who has served with distinction, has not retained a good lawyer. He has retained a great lawyer, Sidney Powell, best wishes and good luck to them both. And she wasn't a great lawyer.
Starting point is 00:47:37 She basically tried to use, like, a crazy legal theory to reverse his guilty plea. Remember Michael Flynn pleaded guilty, but in the end, her efforts didn't matter because, William Barr came in and pardoned Michael Flynn. Now fast forward to November 14th of 2020 when Trump tweeted the following. I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend our right to free and fair elections. Giuliani, Joseph de Genova, Victoria Tauncing, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team added to our wonderful, our other wonderful lawyers and representatives, Trump said. So I mean, how much more evidence do you need? Guys, they were in the same press conference. You all saw it with your own eyes.
Starting point is 00:48:26 And she talked about releasing the cracking. She was famous for saying that they were going to release the crackin of evidence. And what did that crack can have? Nothing. Zero. No evidence. 60 court cases, they never put together. Is Sidney Powell a terrible lawyer? I have no idea. why do I say I have no idea? Because she keeps representing people who were preposterously guilty. So there's nothing they could have ever done because there is no evidence that the election was stolen. They were lying the whole time. And they all know that they were lying.
Starting point is 00:48:57 And it's in the memos that they were lying. They even wrote memos about fake electors. And they called them fake electors. That's because they're idiots. They even wrote down their criminality on paper. So now, look, I don't, MAGA, I can't, I can't understand. No one else can understand you guys. So do you think that Sidney Powell was not one of Trump's lawyers, even though you just
Starting point is 00:49:20 saw the quote of Donald Trump saying that she was part of his legal team? Do you like, I don't know how to communicate to you. You all saw her with your own eyes with Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis representing Donald Trump. Has that been wiped from your memory? I mean, do you live on this planet? Of course she was one of Trump's lawyers, of course, right? So now she's turning against them.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Now look, the downside of that, the upside of it is that the evidence that she has could be devastating. And I'll get back to why I think that she might have the goods in a second. The downside is, yeah, her credibility is questionable. Well, yeah, and look, before you get to your goods, like what you're going to show to indicate that she might have some dirt on Trump, I think it's worth knowing why the Trump campaign did distance themselves from Sidney Powell previously, okay? Now, I turned to some really interesting text messages that were unearthed during the January 6th Select Committee investigating January 6th. Let's go to Graphic 5. Zachary Cohen had shared the tweets at the time, or the text, I should say, through a tweet.
Starting point is 00:50:29 These texts show Senator Mike Lee advocated for Sydney Powell in early November and pushed Meadows to give her access to Trump. So I looked at those messages, I want to read this exchange from Mike Lee to Mark Meadows, who was the chief of staff for Donald Trump at the time. Sidney Powell is saying that she needs to get in to see the president, but she's being kept away from him. Apparently she has a strategy to keep things alive and put several states back in play. Can you help her get in? And then he didn't get a response for Mark Meadows and writes again.
Starting point is 00:51:01 It was the president's request that Sydney has been working on a strategy and has been trying to get in to see him, but she's being kept out. And then he writes again, okay? Shares the information for Sidney Powell. Sydney Powell was a pro-Trump lawyer who was part of the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, right? That's just a note. That's not a message that he sent, but he just sent the information to contact Sidney Powell. But then the disastrous press conference happened. Okay, so let's take a look at the press conference I'm referring to, and I'll tell you what the Trump campaign did afterward. The Dominion voting systems, the smartmatic technology software,
Starting point is 00:51:44 and the software that goes in other computerized voting systems here as well, not just Dominion, were created in Venezuela at the direction of Hugo Chavez to make sure he never lost an election after one constitutional referendum came out the way he did not want it to come out. You couldn't possibly believe that the company counting our vote with control over our vote is owned by two Venezuelans who were allies of Chavez or present allies of Maduro with a company whose chairman is a close associate and business partner of George Soros. So three days after that, remember that was November 19th, 2020, three days after that on November 22nd, 2020, the Trump team puts out a notice or a statement, I should say, reading that Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump legal team. She's also not a lawyer for the president in his personal capacity. Now, the reporting at the time indicated that the reason why they distanced themselves from Sidney Powell was because she's a lunatic. and she carried herself like a lunatic during that press conference. Trump has been agitated about Giuliani and Powell for a few days, advisors said, complaining about how Powell had sounded at the news conference,
Starting point is 00:53:08 how black liquid had dripped down Giuliani's face and about how long the appearance had stretched on. And it was a very long press conference. But to me, Jank, that didn't make any sense because why distance themselves from Sidney Powell, which I admit, yes, absolutely is a lunatic, but then not distant. to yourself from Rudy Giuliani who looked like an even bigger lunatic and was a bigger lunatic than Sidney Powell. In fact, you know who promoted that press conference? Donald Trump in a tweet, he quote tweeted it and said, a rigged election drawing more attention to it. So I just don't buy that it's really about the press conference. I think they distanced themselves from
Starting point is 00:53:47 Sidney Powell because of what she said on Lou Dobbs interview in November of 2020, because she kind of disclosed what their plan was, what their plot was. Let's watch. The entire election, frankly, in all the swing states, should be overturned. And the legislatures should make sure that the electors are selected for Trump. You're not supposed to say the quiet parts out loud yet, Sidney Powell. That was November 19th, 2020, the same night as the press conference. So remember they do the fake elector plot and it all goes all the way to January 6th.
Starting point is 00:54:27 And the point of the violence on January 6th was the delay the proceedings. So they could say, we're not sure who won, we're sending it back to the states where they had the fake electors waiting. Now Sidney Powell saying that publicly ahead of time is deeply problematic. Because they're supposed to pretend that they're real electors. And golly, gee, all the way in January, they couldn't resolve this issue. So they had to figure out which electors to go to. But if you already have the fake electors ready to go in November, and you say that, well, you didn't screw up the plan.
Starting point is 00:55:02 You screwed up by making the plan public. Exactly, which also leads me to believe she's privy to the details of that plan and the discussions that we're having behind the scenes. Which leads to my theory, which is in this plea deal, she got no jail time. She was a central, pivotal player. I mean, there you saw her on Lou Dobbs in November explaining how they're going to bring in the Trump electors and pretend he won in the swing states. And they're going to bring into the Republican legislatures, et cetera, right? So why is she getting no jail time?
Starting point is 00:55:35 That means her cooperation was excellent. Now, if she were Trump's attorney, there could be an argument made that those conversations are pretend. by attorney-client privilege, but Trump says she was never his attorney. Oops. And Trump was asked about that. Let's hear what he had to say. Mr. President, you said Cindy Powell wasn't in your attorney. Are you concerned that you won't be covered by attorney-client-client religion?
Starting point is 00:56:03 No, not at all. We did nothing wrong. We did nothing. This is all Biden. Indictments and impeachments. This is all about Biden. You can't do anything right. The only thing they know how to do is cheat on elections and election fraud.
Starting point is 00:56:16 This is all by the stuff, all of these indictments that you see. I was never indicted. Practically never heard the word. It wasn't a word that registered. Great answer. So it's all about Biden. He never even heard the word indictment until recently. It's just made up.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Yeah, which doesn't speak well of you. You should try to, you know, read a little bit. And that's, if you read past the page, you might have heard of the word indictment. Well, you have now. congratulations. And congratulations on blowing your only potential defense against Sidney Powell's testimony, which was attorney client privilege because you just told us she was never your attorney. Hey, Magad teach earlier in this segment, weren't you mad at me? Well, she was never the attorney, never the attorney, never the attorney, no attorney client
Starting point is 00:57:02 privilege. Enjoy that. So look guys, they've got three people that have flipped already. And so I didn't cover the cheeseboro story on TYT. Let me just tell you something. Cheeseboro flipping is huge. It is huge. He is the guy. Okay, he's co-conspirator 5 in the indictment. He is the guy who passed around the memos specifically referring to their fake electors as fake electors and fraudulent electors.
Starting point is 00:57:33 I think he's just had a moment where he's like, you know, this evidence that they have against me is pretty compelling. I'm like maybe I should take the plea deal. Yeah, yeah. He's a lawyer, by the way. Look, I was already telling you, Fannie Willis was doing a great job. Now it's over the top. Setting up those 19, a lot of people questioned her strategy on that. Oh, there's too many people to say no, nope.
Starting point is 00:57:53 She set them up and knocked them down. So she got one person to flip, then she got Sidney Powell to flip. And apparently Trump was surprised that Sidney Powell flipped. You and your allies were all throwing her under the bus. Everybody testifying was like, it wasn't me, it was Sidney Powell, it was Sidney Powell. What did you think she was going to do? But Trump is maniacically stupid. He can't have, he can't strategize himself out of a wet paper bag.
Starting point is 00:58:17 So he, like he was surprised by Powell. But Powell needs someone to corroborate what she's saying because he's not the world's greatest witness. We're honest about that. You see the difference between liars and honesty, right? So, but once Powell flipped, she, cheeseboro was like, oh, I'm toast. She has all the information. Now I'm gonna go to jail, and I thought there was that Trump would get me out of this,
Starting point is 00:58:41 but turns out, no, we're screwed. So Cheeseboro Flips, he's a very credible witness. He wrote the fraudulent elector memo. He's going to corroborate what Sidney Powell says. Look, guys, later in the show, we have a story about Trump Republicans and what they believe. The thing we're trying to get everybody to understand is that those folks don't know the same things you know or I know. I don't know if these trials will break through, but if you televise all of this damning testimony and they, you explain to people something they've never heard because the Democrats never even
Starting point is 00:59:15 focused on it. They kept pounding the guys at the inside the Capitol who attacked the Congress. Why? Because they were worried about their personal safety. And they never touched the elites. But if you, once the American people, including Trump voters, see the fake elector memo, Maybe it moves very few of them, but I think that there's some chance it can move a lot of independence and maybe some even some MAGA voters who go, oh, I didn't know they were fake. I thought that Biden stole the election. We were trying to steal the election. Yes, brothers and sisters. Trump was trying to steal the election. And now there's three people who are going to tell you that in these televised hearings.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Well, we come back for the second hour of the show. We have Dave Chappelle saying that he is not in favor of his taxpayer money funding Israel's war in Gaza. So he's getting some backlash, but also some support for those comments. I want to share them with you when we come back. Stick around. Thanks for listening to the full episode of the Young Turks.
