How terrific.
Bacon, turkey.
Baga!
Welcome to TY
I'm your host, Anna Kasparian.
And the situation in Los Angeles continues.
There are some updates to that story, but the unrest has spread to other parts of the country.
We'll tell you which major cities are dealing with protests against Trump's mass immigration policies and what ICE has been up to.
So looking forward to sharing those details with you.
Actually, no, I'm not looking forward to sharing those details with you.
It's honestly one of the most frustrating stories in the news right now.
But I'm going to give you the facts as we have them at the moment, some pretty big updates on that.
Later in the show, we'll talk a little bit about sentiment toward immigration policy from the Trump administration,
because there's one demographic in particular that is very supportive of what Trump is doing.
And no, I'm not talking about white Americans.
I know that there's a lot of theories about that.
But no, it's a surprising group, a surprising demo that is in.
favor of what Trump is doing. So we'll give you the details on that. In the second hour, we're
going to give you an update on the so-called humanitarian aid effort through an Israeli and U.S.-backed
organization in Gaza. It continues to be a bit of a disaster. So we'll give you the latest on that,
and there's a lot more. So Wazni Lombre will be joining me in the second hour, as he will for the
rest of the week. Jank is out for the week. He'll be back on Monday. So without further ado,
Let's get to our first story.
The governor of the California has failed to protect his people along with the mayor of Los Angeles.
And so President Trump has said he will protect our agents and our guard and Marines are proud to do it.
The law also says, Mr. Secretary, that the orders for these purposes shall be issued through governors of the states.
You and I both know that President Trump has all the authorities necessary and thankfully he's willing to do it.
There are now more troops, more National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles than there are U.S. troops deployed in both Syria and Iraq.
So that's what we're dealing with right now. The Trump administration has deployed U.S. Marines, 700 of them, to respond to the riots that have broken out in Los Angeles over the last several nights.
And defense secretary Pete Higgseth was on the hot seat this morning as he was dealing with questions and grilling from lawmakers over the deployment of active military to Los Angeles.
And it turns out this stunt could actually, you know, fly in the face of federal law and cost a pretty penny as well.
Now, how much money are we talking about here? Let's take a look.
What is estimated cost of the deployment for the Guard and the Marines to LA and where's this funding coming from?
Will it be coming from quality of life programs that affect our service members or families if you want to wait to life?
Before I hand it to Brian, such as updates, housing and barracks.
Before I handed to Bryn, the insinuation that we're pulling money from housing and barracks in order to fund this is disingenuous and incorrect.
Just ask. Brin can give you the numbers. Absolutely.
So the current estimated cost is $134 million, which is largely.
just TDI-Y cost, travel, housing, food, et cetera.
Great. So much for cutting waste, fraud, and abuse, $134 million to deploy active duty
military, the Marines, to Los Angeles to respond to the riots. And to be sure, there have
been riots. I talked about that a little bit yesterday. I'll give you some updates on that
today. But the real question is, does what we've seen on the ground in Los Angeles just
justify the deployment of now 4,000 National Guard troops in addition to 700 active Marines.
I'm going to go ahead and say no, even while fully acknowledging the loathsome individuals, the wreckers who have decided to destroy parts of this city,
engage in rioting, engage in looting. Those people are scum and I have no interest in providing any cover for them whatsoever.
But let's not pretend as though the Trump administration isn't intentionally escalating this situation with a ridiculous disproportionate response, given how limited and contained the rioting has been in very specific parts of the city.
Now, some argue, who cares if it's limited to specific parts of the city?
The riots are happening.
No, the reason why people keep mentioning that is because it doesn't.
does not justify the volume of National Guard troops and freaking Marines that have been deployed.
It just doesn't. It doesn't. Okay, I want to squash the riots and the rioters. I have no problem
with that. But in announcing the sheer volume of people that are being deployed in Los Angeles,
that escalates the situation that riles people up more. It makes what's already, in my opinion,
a pretty disaster situation, even worse, I don't want it to grow. But the Trump administration
doesn't appear to really have any interest in calming the temperature or cooling the temperature
down a little bit. It's just constantly escalating. Escalatory statements and actions from
the federal government. And look, I say that as someone who also doesn't trust local leadership
here, right? I'm basing what I'm saying on my own investigation, looking into reports,
trying to figure out what's actually happening on the ground as opposed to just listening and
taking at face value what our local politicians have to say, because our local politicians have
a history of lying to us about the reality of conditions, both out on the streets when it comes
to crime, when it comes to a lot of different things, I don't trust them. I don't take what they say
at face value. However, again, to reiterate, the riots are occurring. They are small in scale,
even though those videos make them out to look like the entire city is in the throes of terrible riots.
And if you want to do something to calm the situation down, announcing the deployment of active military isn't
going to do it. But nonetheless, the Marines are here in Los Angeles specifically for up to 60 days,
or at least until the riots. And they're also tasked with protecting federal agents and federal
buildings, much like the National Guard is tasked with doing. Although last night was the first
night in which you can see the National Guard engage with some of the rioters in an effort to
provide backup to local law enforcement. Now, in response to the deployment of Marines and National
Guard troops without them being requested by local politicians, you know, the mayor, the governor,
California is now essentially taking this to the federal courts in order to get them to implement a temporary restraining order that would block the Trump administration's deployment of these National Guard troops and the 700 active duty Marines.
However, just before we went live today, it was reported that the courts have denied this request.
So we'll see what happens moving forward. But prior to that decision by a federal judge,
Newsom filed the request today on Monday, alleging Trump had exceeded his authority and
violated the U.S. Constitution by sending military forces into an American city without the
request or approval of the state governor or local officials. Now, as some of you might already
know, there was precedent for the president of the United States to send in National Guard
troops without the request being made by local politicians or state leaders. And that was in the
case of LBJ sending in National Guard troops in an effort to desegregate public schools.
Now, of course, it wasn't requested for LBJ to do that, but he did it anyway in order to
protect students as they were going into schools in an effort to desegregate them.
But this situation Newsome argues is different, although, again, initially with the initial
decision by a federal judge, this judge apparently doesn't see it as so different.
and has denied this request.
Now, using the Marines against Americans and civilians on U.S. soil, in my opinion, is insane and does fly in the face of federal laws.
Now, if the Marines come in specifically to protect federal buildings, if they come in specifically to protect federal agents from any violence that might be directed toward them, that's a different story.
But if they're literally using weaponry or taking, you know, physical action against American
civilian citizens, that's a problem.
And that does set a dangerous precedent.
And for all the Trump supporters who are celebrating this, be careful with what you're
asking for here.
Because your guy is not going to be in charge forever.
The Republicans, I know it seems impossible at this moment, given how ridiculous the Democrats
look, given how feckless they are, given how, you know, how much.
much chaos that party is in. I know it's unbelievable to even imagine that they're eventually
going to be in charge again, but they will be in charge again eventually. And so once you set
a precedent under your preferred administration, you've got to think about what the consequences
will be moving forward when the administration you don't like is in charge and will point
to this precedent to potentially use the military in instances where Republican voters are
assembling and engaging in demonstrations.
I need a better
I need a better understanding of whether or not the national guard is actually needed.
Because this is, in my opinion, the biggest question.
You have Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, local politicians in California arguing, we don't need National Guard, we didn't ask for National Guard, we got everything under control.
Then you see footage of what's happening on the streets, and one has to question whether or not National Guard is really necessary.
So what do I mean by that?
So here's LAPD Chief Jim McDonald. I've shown you this video before, but here's what he said during a press conference, not last night but the night before.
Take a look.
This violence that I've seen is disgusting.
It's escalated now since the beginning of this incident.
What we saw the first night was bad.
What we've seen subsequent to that is getting increasingly worse and more violent.
Tonight we had individuals out there shooting commercial-grade fireworks at our officers.
That can kill you.
And we have adapted our tactics to be able to have a chance to be able to take these people into custody
and to be able to hold them accountable.
We are overwhelmed as far as the number of people out there engaged in this type of activity
and the type of things that they're doing, they'll take backpacks.
And the backpack will have a cinder block in it.
They have a hammer and they'll break up the cinder block and use that,
pass it around to throw at officers, to throw at cars and throw at other people.
So that was Chief McDonald's, McDonald's, I should say, press conference yesterday.
in regard to the riots that took place on Sunday night.
Now, there is some indication that while there were instances of riots taking place on Monday night,
things were a little calmer than Sunday.
But the reason why I show you that video again is because my question is,
if the LAPD police chief is saying we are overwhelmed, there's too many people, we can't handle it.
Okay, I totally understand not wanting the Marines to get involved.
But is it a good idea to essentially reject national guard troops who are there to protect federal agents, but also federal property?
I don't know. I just, there's a lot of inconsistency happening right now in terms of what the two sides are saying.
You have the police chief saying they're overwhelmed. Then you have Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass saying, no, we've got everything under control. Don't worry. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. I'm just keeping it real.
But I also acknowledge that the Trump administration is intentionally trying to escalate things by putting out statements, you know, first of all, by sending a disproportionate number of National Guard troops to L.A., and then threatening all sorts of things like sicking the Marines against Angelinos as they, you know, in some cases, yes, demonstrate, in some cases also riot. But we have local law enforcement and we could ask for backup from other.
cities as opposed to relying on Marines in order to respond to any of this. I don't know.
Look, everyone's lying to you. I just want to be clear about that. Everyone is literally lying
to you. You got the rad lips. We're like, no, man, rioting's cool man. This is just the expression
of the frustrated man. No, it's not. I think it's disgusting. I'm sick of taxpayer dollars
going to absolute waste in this city. Rioters break everything. Then we have to pay for it.
Then they break it again.
We got to pay for the vandalism and the cleanup again at a time when we have a $1 billion budget deficit.
I'm not even entertaining the rioters.
The fact that the writers exist is also a problem considering the fact that that's all anyone is talking about,
as opposed to focusing on the individuals who have been detained for deportation.
Who are these people?
How many of them have committed crimes outside of being here illegally?
What kind of crimes have they committed?
is the juice worth the squeeze, as Was mentioned yesterday when we were covering this story.
But we're not talking about the immigrants. We're talking about the rioters.
Because the rioters love to suck up all the attention. They love to exploit any political issue
to go wild and carry out their, you know, anarchy and their violence. I can't stand them
and I can't stand the people who provide cover for them. And of course, they totally suck the energy
out of the legitimate protests and the peaceful protesters who are now.
basically not even talked about in any of the coverage because the riders demand all the attention.
Can't stand them. I hate them. Now, let's talk a little more about how things were looking last
night. There were some instances where things appeared out of control. So there's some
intentional destruction of public property, which taxpayers like me living in the highest tax
city and the highest tax state end up paying for it. It freaking pisses me off. So here's Elex,
who's from a local Fox affiliate, and he shares video of these rioters who were basically
tearing the sidewalk apart. Okay, he says anarchist hammer the sidewalk in LA to collect
rocks to potentially throw at law enforcement. They set cars on fire and vandalized businesses
as officers watch from down the street. So Alex appears to be adding some credibility to an
argument that the right has been making about local law enforcement and how they just kind of
stand by and allow some of these terrible acts to take place. Some stores in downtown L.A. were looted
as well, including a CVS, a shoe store, jewelry store, and an Apple store. But it's Los Angeles.
So looting is just a regular occurrence. I don't know if it's really related to the ice-related
riots or if it's just a typical night in downtown L.A. However, according to the L.A. Times,
there was far less chaos Monday night compared to Sunday.
When vehicles were set on fire and businesses robbed on Monday night,
police pushed people out of the Civic Center and onto downtown L.A. or into downtown L.A.,
significant numbers of arrests were made.
Also, police chief McDonald argued that, which is a little different from what he argued earlier,
the possible arrival of federal military forces in Los Angeles absent clear coordination
presents a significant logistical and operational challenge for those of us tasked with safeguarding the city.
The Los Angeles Police Department alongside our mutual aid partners have decades of experience managing public demonstrations,
and we remain confident in our ability to do so effectively and professionally.
Okay, that's what he claims.
He said something very different literally a day before.
So you guys tell me what I'm supposed to believe. Seriously, you have different messages coming from different people. Sometimes you have different messages coming from the same person. But the big question for the Trump administration now is how many troops are you willing to deploy throughout the country? Because these demonstrations have now spread to cities like San Francisco, Santa Ana, which is also in California. Dallas, Atlanta, Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky.
New York City.
So are we just going to deploy all of our soldiers, all of our active duty military and sick
them against Americans across the country?
This is just not the right way, in my opinion, to deal with it.
But I don't know.
I don't know how much I can trust what I'm hearing from local leadership either, and I am
sick of the riots.
I would like to actually have a discussion about who's being deported, who's being detained,
whether or not these are lawful detentions,
whether or not these individuals are actually getting a day in front of a judge
in order to ensure that due process is being carried out.
No, the conversation is just about the rioters because that's what they do.
And they know it because they don't care.
You think the guys that broke into the Apple store had any interest in what's happening
with the detention and deportation of undocumented immigrants in this country?
And for anyone who wants to reference the color of my skin to say that I don't have the right
to weigh in on how people of color engage in riots.
First of all, you're a piece of crap for conflating the rioters with people of color in general.
I've seen a lot of white people out there rioting, number one.
And number two, if my tax dollars pay for those sidewalks that are being ripped apart right now,
I'm going to go ahead and say what I need to say.
The rioters are a problem.
Okay, they were a problem in the summer of 2020 in that they totally destroyed the message coming from, you know,
the peaceful protesters that were involved with BLM, it was a problem that there was cover for them
by people in the media and the left. And I don't think that same mistake should be made this time
around. I think peaceful protesters need to be protected, rioters need to be arrested,
and we need to go back to where this conversation really needs to be, which is the individuals
who are being targeted for deportation. And are we really comfortable with 134 million
being spent on deploying 700 active duty marines to Los Angeles.
I'm not at all.
But that's where we are right now.
We're not getting any real straight answers.
In my opinion, I think there's this rejection of National Guard troops from our local
leaders simply because Trump's the one who sent them without them requesting it.
And I don't know how much longer this is going to take.
I don't know how much longer the riots are going to happen.
I hope things cool down.
According to reports, things were a little calmer yesterday compared to Sunday.
But honestly, not by much when you see the images of, you know, similar things that you saw on Sunday.
You know, some looting, things on fire, Waymo's on fire, of course.
That chaos doesn't lead to any solutions.
It doesn't help anybody.
But I'm sure it will continue.
because we have a multi-year history in this state specifically of turning a blind eye to this
kind of behavior. And now there's a price to pay for it. And it's pretty awful. Anyway,
that's what I've got for you. I know I'm supposed to tell you guys pretty little stories about
how everything is wonderful and Trump is the bad guy. Whereas Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom are
wonderful leaders who are doing everything to protect everybody. They're not. This is the reality
on the ground. It's not partisan hackery. It's the reality. So we'll
see what happens from here on now, but it's not looking good. And I really wish that the Marines
would go home. Let's take a break. We'll get back.
Anna Casparian with you. Let's talk a little more about the Trump administration and what they've been up to in regard to their immigration policies.
There's some more fighting between the Trump administration and Gavin Newsom.
There are no good guys in this story. So without further ado, let me give you the details.
Gavin Newsom is he's daring Tom Holman to come and arrest him. Should he do it?
I think his primary crime is running for governor because he's done such a bad job.
What he's done to that state is like what Biden did to this country.
I mean, that last statement, I don't know if I disagree with it.
But nonetheless, that's Donald Trump threatening to arrest California governor Gavin Newsom.
So while borders are, Tom Homan, sort of walked back his threat to arrest Gavin Newsom,
President Donald Trump clearly is striking a very different tone here.
So this posturing war, and that is what it is, it is a posturing war, started with Homan's claim
that anyone who impedes or obstructs immigration enforcement will get arrested, and that includes
elected politicians.
That includes people like
Gavin Newsome, Los Angeles
Mayor Karen Bass, and
I want you to hear more of what he
had to say with his initial threat.
You've also mentioned
Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom
and there have been threats
previously that if you stand in the way
of your enforcement operations, you know,
you could be subject potentially to arrest.
Are you saying that about Mayor Bass
and Governor Newsom? Are they at risk
of being arrested?
I'll say it about anybody.
You cross that line. It's a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal
a alien. It's a felony to impede law enforcement to doing their job. The governor
Newsom is an embarrassment for the state. But you know, he's the one that's feeding this
mantra. He supports sanctuary cities. He supports sanctuary laws. If he cared, if he cared
about public safety in the state of California, he would not have a sanctuary for
criminals. So in response to that, this is a video I showed you all yesterday, uh,
Newsom decided to basically use the situation to act like a tough guy and engage in his own
posturing. Take a look at that.
Come after me, arrest me. Let's just get it over with tough guy. You know, I don't give a damn.
But I care about my community. I care about this community. The hell are they doing?
These guys need to grow up. They need to stop. And we need to push back. And I'm sorry to be
so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So Tom arrest me.
Let's go.
Look, I said this yesterday.
I'm going to say to get, yeah, bloviating, super exhausting.
That's all we get from our politicians.
And in this story, in particular, a lot of bloviating.
They can't stop with the bloviating.
So Newsom in that clip was bloviating, okay?
He's making himself out to be like some sort of warrior against the Trump administration,
big tough guy.
This is probably the most frustrating part about how the White House impacts local
politics here in California because all of these failure democratic politicians who have done
a poor job in governing this state get to position themselves as these big fighters against
Donald Trump, these big saviors. And it helps to deflect from how terrible their leadership
has been in the state of California. And it's frustrating. Because, look, Gavin Newsom is not
your savior, okay? He's done his poor job in the state of California. And he would do
a even worse job if you were to be elected as president of the United States, which he's currently
campaigning for. That's why he's posturing right now as we speak. He knows. He knows that Holman's not
going to get him arrested. That's why he's, you know, saying what he's saying. But nonetheless,
Homan actually walked back his threat following Newsom's statement, which was kind of surprising. So let's
take a quick look at that. On what grounds would you arrest, Gavin Newsom?
Well, that whole thing's been taken out of context. They haven't crossed the line yet. But like,
any other U.S. citizen, if you cross that line, I don't care who the other, the governor,
the mayor, wherever. When you commit a crime against ICE officers, we will seek prosecution.
So this whole thing is just a bunch of noise, basically, because you're not claiming that Gavin Newsom
has done anything to get to impede ICE officers.
Well, I'll leave it up to DOJ, but what I'm saying right now is when someone commits a crime,
we'll ask the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute.
So I'm not a prosecutor, so we'll hand that on the DOJ, but right now,
There's no intention to the rest of governor right now.
I don't know if he crossed that line.
But you don't have any more evidence that he crossed the line than that I did.
No, I don't have evidence to cross the line at this point.
When I simply said, if and when he crosses that line, then we'll see prosecution.
Okay, so in summation, there's just a lot of noise.
Okay, so look, there you have Holman clarifying.
No one's getting arrested unless they commit a crime.
But you know Donald Trump.
He's, A, the biggest troll in the country.
So he's very likely trolling here.
But it's honestly playing into what Newsom wants.
He wants this ridiculous conversation to continue.
But here he is.
Here's what Trump has to say about this whole matter.
Kevin Newsom is he's daring Tom Holman to come and arrest him.
Should he do it?
I would do it if I were, Tom, I think it's great.
Gavin likes the publicity, but I think it would be a great thing.
He's done a terrible job.
Look, I like Gavin Newsom he's a nice guy, but he's grossly incompetent.
Everybody knows.
All you have to do is look at the little railroad he's building.
It's about 100 times over budget.
We're putting a flagpole over there.
Under budget.
I always do under budget.
The little railroad comment was both accurate.
and hilarious, but the rest of it was ridiculous. Arrest him for what? Believe me, no one would
be more amused at Gavin Newsom getting arrested, obviously legally arrested because he committed
some sort of crime. Then I would love it. I would be so happy, but he hasn't committed a crime
that we know of. It's like, what are we doing? What are we doing? Why are we doing this? Why are we
doing this? This is such a waste of time. I get it. Like, why are you talking about it if it's a
a waste of time because I want you all to understand that our politicians don't give a damn about
us, okay? They don't give a damn about us at all. They're not looking for solutions. Like if I were
Gavin Newsom rather than publicly engaging in this complete S show, right, knowing full well,
you're not going to get arrested home boy, I would do anything and everything in my power. Yes,
I get it. People are going to be repulsed by this, but I would reach out to the Trump administration
And try to have a conversation about how we cool the temperature.
What can we do to work together to, yes, respond effectively to the rioters without scaring
people, without deploying active duty Marines?
But that's what a leader would do.
A leader would be willing to put their ego aside and understand, oh yeah, that's right,
I got elected to serve the people of California.
I didn't get elected to use my time as a public servant to engage in, honestly, presidential
campaigning and ridiculous posturing. And yeah, I get that I'm being harsher on Newsom than I am on
Trump, who's, like, created part of this mess to begin with. But I have no standards for the Trump
administration at this point. So I'm not expecting Trump to be the one to lower the temperature.
And sometimes you've got to be the bigger person as the Democratic governor of California
to tucktail, hit up the White House and be like, listen, we need to handle this situation
like adults and we need to do what's right for the people of L.A. and for the country.
I really don't want to deploy active duty military, but I also don't want these rights to take
place. So what can we do to work together? But we're not going to ever get that.
Instead, we're going to have this pathetic political theater.
Newsom then took to X to write that the president of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting governor.
This is a day I hoped I would never see in America.
I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican.
This is a line we cannot cross as a bro.
Listen, Newsom didn't commit any crime, so arresting him would be ridiculous.
But they clarified and said, we're not going to arrest him because he hasn't come in.
committed a crime. Now, if an elected lawmaker, if a governor, a mayor, a president commits
a crime, I'm sure Gavin Newsom agrees with that individual's arrest, right? Because I remember
he did when Trump was indicted. Oh, you know, no one's above the law. And you know what? I believe
that as well. Now Newsom hasn't committed a crime. So I'm not worried about him getting arrested.
he's not worried about himself getting arrested.
But like, come on, it's just amazing to me how we're now dealing with Democrats who are
pretending like, oh, it's unacceptable to arrest, you know, an elected politician.
Okay.
And then Newsom is leaning into this heavily, saying that Alabama had three times the homicide
has three times the homicide rate of California.
Its murder rate is ranked third in the entire country.
Stick to football, bro.
and he's essentially referring to Tommy Tuberville who called for Gavin Newsom to be arrested.
He says lock him up.
Anyway, this is pathetic.
All of these people are acting like children.
And in the meantime, people's lives are at stake.
And I mean that.
Okay, we're talking about this effort at mass deportation.
We don't know who's being detained.
We don't know who's being deported.
Obviously, the administration has made mistakes in the past, administrative errors as they were
referred to and wrongfully deporting people.
So can we focus on that, Newsom?
Maybe focus on that a little bit.
Now update on this lawsuit.
As I mentioned earlier, Gavin Newsom did file a lawsuit against the Trump
administration in order to block the use or deployment of
National Guard troops and Marines.
A federal judge has already waited on that and denied the
request, at least temporarily denied the request.
There's no indication that the deployment of National Guard troops to protect federal agents and federal property is in any way unconstitutional or legal.
But the deployment of active duty Marines, that's really a big question, like whether or not that flies in the face of federal laws, whether or not that's unconstitutional.
And so we'll see what the next step by Newsom will be, given that a federal judge has waited on this and decided to temporarily reject.
this emergency request.
But yeah, this is a total clown show.
It absolutely is.
There are no good actors in this story at all, and it's just absolutely pathetic.
The only good actors are the peaceful demonstrators who are totally being buried in the story
because the rioters are grabbing all the attention.
These politicians are grabbing all the attention.
And the important message coming from the peaceful demonstrators is just totally being, you know, buried under a
pile of garbage. So that's what's going on. All right. I want to talk a little bit about migrant
sentiment or immigrant sentiment in regard to what Trump is doing when we come back. That is an
insane story with a surprising poll involved. So come right back. I'll give you the details on
that and more.
Okay, I was like in a bad mood because I'm just like preparing myself for backlash for having the audacity to say rioters bad.
You guys are giving me life right now. Oh my gosh. Okay. So Bach says, I feel like if Trump said the sky was blue, bass and Newsome would tell us it's green. That is true.
Michael Rosa Milia says the National Guard showing up is probably not unconstitutional if they're ordered to engage on the other hand, meaning engage in physical acts against, you know, Americans, civilians. Yeah, that could be a problem. There was another comment I want. Oh, here we go. Magazine Stitcher says, I hate looters. Tiffany's in Chicago was looted. That's all I heard about for the next year and I hated it. Stop focusing on a rich.
jewelry store and focus on Chicago's other needs. Exactly. But this is what the media does.
That's why there's no strategy. That's the other thing. Right now with the demonstrations that
you're seeing, some of the demonstrators are organized as part of a group, right? Either the ACLU is
organizing it, SCIU is organizing it. But these nighttime riots to take place, there's like no
leader, there's no one organizing it. They're not even engaged in this because they give a damn
about deportations or people getting snatched up from, you know, job sites and things like that.
And so when they carry out, when they light Waymo's on fire, when they destroy public buildings,
when they're lighting fireworks and tossing them at cops or throwing rocks at their heads,
like literally from freeway overpasses, that's all the media is going to want to focus on.
Why? Because it's sensational.
The imagery of it is going to grab people's attention.
And it's just so harmful in more ways than one.
So thank you for writing in and sharing that perspective.
All right, let's talk about migrant or immigrant sentiment when it comes to what Trump is up to.
More so than any other group that I could find the group of voters who became more hawkish on immigration
were in fact immigrants themselves, immigrants who are registered to vote in this country.
This morning, CNN's Harry Enton revealed that the voters who have shifted the most to the right on the topic of immigration policy are actually immigrants themselves.
So there had already been polling in data to indicate that naturalized citizens had shifted somewhat to the right when it came to immigration policy.
But this latest polling really shows you the extent to which they have.
And so according to Enten, those numbers really help to explain part of what's motivating President Donald Trump to do what he's been doing in cities like Los Angeles.
So before we get to that, though, let's watch Enten explain how immigrants used to feel toward the Democratic Party's handling of immigration.
closest to her trust more in immigration. You go back to 2020.
Democrats get this held a 32 point lead on this issue. Immigrant voters were in the Democratic camp.
Jump forward to 2024, 2025. Look at that shift. A 40 point shift to the right among immigrant voters.
Republicans now lead on this issue by eight points over Democrats.
All right. So now immigrant voters.
also feel much differently about the undocumented immigrants now compared to 2020.
So you get the context of how they used to feel.
How are they feeling now?
Let's take a look.
The net favorable rating, immigrants who are here illegally, among immigrant citizens, again,
those registered to vote.
In 2020, look at this, plus 23 points on the net favorable rating.
But look at where we were in 2024, minus six points underwater.
So immigrant citizens have become increasingly unfavorable in their views of those immigrants.
who are here illegally.
And guess what?
That shift goes beyond the issue of immigration specifically.
So it also plays out in the number of immigrant voters who voted for Trump in 2016 versus
2024.
And so I'm going to explain what I think about all of this.
I just want you to have all the numbers first.
So let's take a quick look at that.
And then I'll fill in the blanks.
You remember when he first ran back in 2016, immigrant voters are one of his weakest
box.
But look at this.
Trump's vote chair and presidential.
election among again immigrant citizens, those who registered to vote. Look at this. In 2016, you got
36% of the vote. You go to 2020, 39% of the vote. Look at this in 2024, all the way up to 47%
of the vote. Some polls I looked at had him barely losing that vote. Some polls I looked at had
him barely winning that vote. Again, there is no block of voters that shifted more to the
right from 2020 to 2024 than immigrant voters.
analysis of all of this, why this big shift exists to begin with what he thinks is motivating
it. I just want to say I told you. I told you. So in the lead up to the presidential race,
for everyone who was mad and upset at me when I drew attention to the fact that there was a
migrant crisis at the border, that Greg Abbott busing or flying migrants to big blue cities like
Chicago, L.A., whatever, all of these big blue, New York City is another example.
Colorado, Denver, I knew that that was going to have an impact on the outcome of the presidential
race. But I also knew that it would have an overall impact on the public's sentiment toward
immigration policy. There is a reason why, even today, Trump enjoys a slim majority.
of support among Americans when it comes to his immigration policies. And it's because the Democrats
drop the ball. When you drop the ball and you have a migrant crisis and you essentially respond
to that migrant crisis by telling Americans, it doesn't exist. It's all in your imagination.
You're crazy. Oh, you must be a bigot for even mentioning it. That leads to backlash.
That leads to resentment. Now, of course, the Biden administration and the Democrats realized,
Oh, wow, we did drop the ball. This is this is going to be a political liability for the 2024 presidential election. Maybe we should do something. Let's hit up our homeboy, Senator Lankford from Oklahoma and get him to write, you know, a right wing immigration bill that will quickly pass in order to ensure that this immigration issue isn't a problem for us electorally. Well, obviously, they dropped the ball so badly that Republicans had no incentive to help them. Trump had no incentive to want to.
to help Biden or Kamala Harris. So of course, he stood in the way of passing that bill.
He blocked that bill. Guys, there are consequences when the Democratic Party creates a vacuum
and doesn't appropriately respond to the concerns of the American people. When the American
people say, we are worried about this, we are struggling with this, we need your help.
And the response from the Democrats is, it's not happening. That vacuum that's created
then gets filled by the party who says, we have a plan, we have a solution, we're going to do
something about it. And by that point, there's so much resentment built in these various communities
that have been dealing with an influx of migrants that they're willing to accept some of the
most draconian immigration policies. And that's where we currently are at. So when I talk about
these things, I just want to make it very clear. I don't talk about these things because I
hate immigrants. My parents are immigrants. I grew up in a community of immigrants. People who
want to come to this country should have a legal pathway to citizenship. We need to fix our broken
immigration system. But I mentioned these things specifically because my job here is to give
analysis and talk about how the Democratic Party could have moved forward in a way that was
electorally beneficial for them. But rather than take any responsibility, both the Democratic
Party and the people who like to provide cover for their failures jump down my throat and
accuse me of being a Trump fanatic for speaking out against the failures of the Democratic Party.
Okay, well, now you're seeing what we're dealing with as a result of those failures.
And maybe we learn lessons moving forward, but I doubt it. I doubt it.
Now, with that in mind, let's hear what Harry Enton has to say.
So I think it's so important when we're talking about this debate from a political angle
to separate those out who are undocumented immigrants versus those who are here legally
and those who are citizens and those who are voters because that group of voters has felt
increasingly distant from those immigrants who are here legally.
And so again, when we're talking about this, at least from a political angle,
this is why Donald Trump feels so comfortable because, in fact,
amongst the group that you would think that would be most opposed to this,
in fact, they become increasingly favorable, not just towards Donald Trump,
but towards a Republican point of view on immigration and becoming distant from those
immigrants who are here illegally.
And the other thing is, look, there are people who came to this country,
the legal way, and they went through the insanely difficult process of becoming American citizens.
Becoming a naturalized citizen is not easy.
And so I'm sure that among some of these people who have gone through that process, there's a bit of resentment.
It's like, what the hell?
It's costly.
It's difficult.
It's time consuming.
It takes years.
But I went through it the legal way.
Why can't everyone else?
But look, for those who are naturalized citizens who kind of share that sentiment, I just want to say it shouldn't be so difficult that people give up on the legal process of entering the country and becoming naturalized citizens that they then resort to doing it illegally, right? We do have a broken immigration system and it's broken on purpose. I want to be clear about that. You think companies, you think employers want to fix our broken immigration system. So,
people have a legal pathway to citizenship, where they have, you know, whatever labor protections
we have on a federal level, where they have to get paid minimum wage or else the workers
would have recourse against the employer. They don't want that. The broken immigration
system has benefited corporations the most, companies the most, the agriculture industry in
this country, the most. So we have to be clear about that as well. Now, Steve Bannon referenced
this data and this polling that was reported by Harry Enten during a segment in which he called
for the arrests of 10 million illegal immigrants. Our economy would be destroyed. Okay, like, I don't
think people realize just how disastrous that would be. And no, I'm not going to make those gross
callous statements about how we need immigrants to like clean our houses or, no, no, no. But immigrants
do a lot of important jobs throughout this country. So just flat out deporting 10 million people
is going to be disruptive, to say the least,
and not just disruptive to their lives,
disruptive to all of our lives and to our economy.
He also wants Alejandro Mayorkas
and former President Joe Biden to be arrested.
Okay, so here's what he said this morning.
ICE should triple down today in Los Angeles.
All 10 million have to go.
Does he think all 10 million are in L.A.?
Like, what is that?
All 10 million have to go, not just the criminals
and the insane asylum.
The Democrats are on the wrong side of this.
Look at Harry Enton.
We can play much more of Harry Enton sitting there going,
this is absolutely the issue the United States wants.
They want their sovereignty back.
And then he says, you know who wants it?
Hispanic citizens and African American citizens.
They want these festering.
Okay, I don't even want to like want to read this.
But these festering soars of these big cities like Los Angeles,
cleaned up, the schools cleaned up, the medical system cleaned up, and at the same time,
let's get Mayorkas and Biden and the entire crowd arrest them. Meanwhile, the likes of Charlie
Kirk, Jack Posobic, and Matt Walsh are calling for a ban on immigration altogether. And note how
they all have the same wording in their posts. Seems like this is an organized, you know,
orchestrated thing. They're taking orders from someone and being good boys in essentially posting
the exact same wording here. And this is what it says. It's time to ban third world immigration.
Yeah, third world immigration built this country. Okay. But anyway, legal or illegal. I mean,
at least they're telling the truth now because before they hid the ball, right? They were
pretending like, no, we're not against immigrants. We're just against illegal immigration.
We're not against. You guys are against immigrants, period. Whether legal or illegal, as they're
clearly stating right there, and it's disgusting. This crap is disgusting. This is the crap that, in my
view, is totally un-American. When you're against legal immigration, you're against America. Because
what makes this country great is the legal immigration, is the fact that this is a nation of
immigrants, okay? Living in a diverse place like Los Angeles is not a knock on Los Angeles. That's
actually one of the best things about living in L.A. It's just so utterly disgusting and gross.
And like, who's your boss? Who are you serving as a puppet for here? Like literally the exact same
wording in all three of these tweets. I understand wanting to control immigration because we do
have finite resources. I'm not an open borders person. And I think most people, if they stop and
actually think about what open borders mean, they wouldn't be open borders either. But this isn't
about controlling immigration. This is just about preventing immigrants from coming in under any
in all circumstances. And I find that gross. Now, Matt Walsh responded to a post calling out that
almost identical messaging. I'll just say it. Nick Fuentes called him out for similar messaging.
Not even similar. It's like word for word the same tweets.
And then so did Ian Smith. I love how the conservatives have always pointed out that the liberals and their politicians put out brand messaging at the same time as if they were given some sort of memo from their higher ups.
This is definitely not what is happening right here. Take a look at your thought leaders representing conservative Inc. sharing their homework assignments.
Matt Walsh responds and says that Charlie's and Jack's posts were in direct response to mine,
which you guys, you guys tweeted the exact same thing. Matt, you're taking orders.
You're taking orders from someone. Just be honest. Just be honest. It's the exact same wording.
Like, what are you doing? Anyway, which you've cut out for the sake of making whatever dumbass point you're trying to make here.
I said something and then Charlie and Jack agreed with it and literally used the exact same phrasing, wording.
Terminology. Got it. I know. It's embarrassing to be called out for being a puppet. But
if the shoe fits, let's take a break. We'll be right back.
