You're listening to The Young Turks, the online news show.
Make sure to follow and rate our show with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five stars.
You're awesome. Thank you.
Hello everyone and welcome to our Get Out the Vote special, the special where we try to convince you of something.
I guess that would be hard to understand that this year, maybe vote.
Maybe it's important this time.
Maybe it'd be a good idea.
I'm John Adirola, but much more importantly, we're going to be joined by a number of people
throughout the special, including now we're joined by both Ida Rodriguez and Jank Uger.
How's it going? Good guys, it's great to see you. And it's so important that everybody
gets out to boat. That's why we're doing this. I got a lot more to say about why it's that
important and the justifiable panic. I'll also call out member names from time to time because
we do this show together, guys, and we can't do it without you. So folks who just signed up,
by the way, here I'll jump right into it. Becky Lee, Michelle C. Light, Sudipta, Mazumdar,
Chad Perkley, and Tara Main, all just signed up as young terms on YouTube, which you
could do by just clicking the join button below. Thank you for doing that. But we're most
importantly going to give out information on how you can vote throughout the election.
Throughout the show, I mean, sorry. Exactly. So we've got a couple of different things that we want to
accomplish. Obviously, you know, all the people on the show, both Jank and Ida, Ben Dixon is going to be
joining us a little bit later on. We're going to be talking about all this and about,
you know, the election, how important it is and all of that seems fairly obvious.
But we're also going to be giving you information. We're going to turn to that in just
one moment. Later on in the show, we're going to be addressing some really common
myths about voting, voter fraud and all of that. We're going to give you a rundown of
of the rights that you have as a voter while you still have them.
Again, vote, it's important, and we're gonna walk you through the entire process.
In just a moment, I'm gonna give you a couple of really good resources to make sure that
you're squared away for your vote. But we were having a little bit of a talk before the special,
and I just wanted to touch base with Ida and see how she's doing with this entire thing in
the run up to the election. I'm concerned. I'm concerned because there has, there have been a lot of
people who are pushing out these talking points about not voting. And I just think that we are in a
state of emergency. I don't think people realize how important it is to understand that if voting
didn't matter, they wouldn't try so hard to keep us from doing it. And so watching the handmaid's
tail and true blood didn't help, because I feel like we're somewhere in between the two. I don't know
what it is. I just think, you know, I think my grandmother died in 2013. She was not able,
she didn't know how to read. She came to America during the civil rights movement. And I would
read the ballot to her. You know, that that's how important it is to vote. And for me,
every time I go to the polls, I go for her. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I've heard a lot of
comparisons in the past few years to Handmaid's tale. I haven't heard the true blood one.
But tonight we're gonna hashtag Sooky the vote. That's what we're gonna do, okay? Everybody,
we're gonna get ready for this thing. Now before we launch into some more about how important
we think it is, I wanna get something out of the way. And that is any concerns or questions
you have about how to vote because maybe, hypothetically, someday long ago, it was difficult
to get that information, maybe, no longer. We've got resources for you that will give you literally
everything you need to know to register to vote to check your voter registration. If you need to
request an absentee ballot, which you should definitely do if you can set up reminders for all of
this. One place where you can do all of those things I just said is at t-yt.com slash a vote.
You can go there, you're gonna be able to get all of this stuff. And after you're done
checking all of your information, requesting a ballot, you can then share it on social media
sites to make sure that everyone that follows you gets that information as well. That is tyt.com
slash vote, you can see there. All of that information, setting up automatic reminders for all this,
it could not be any simpler. But you know what, maybe you don't like that. You can go to vote.org
then. That's got everything you need to know about registering, vote by mail, polling place locators,
exactly where you need to go to. If you want to not just register and vote and do all of that,
but also work the polls on election day, which you definitely should if you can and be safe about
it. You can find that out about vote.org as well. You can fill out your 2020 census as well.
That's kind of important too. Voting and the census are two things they're trying to get you to not be involved in.
And so all of that is there. And this is also tailored specifically to your states. Obviously, voter regulations and laws do, they're different, you know, by state. But you can get that stuff at these websites, all of that information. You can also go, by the way, to vote.org slash COVID-19. And that is going to give you information for how the pandemic has affected voter laws and regulations.
in every single part of the country. So all of that information is there. If for some reason
you don't like going to websites and reading, you know, I heard Stephen Colbert is making an
individual video for each state explaining when the deadlines are and all of that. There could
not be more resources and any one of these is going to give you everything you need to get the
job done and make sure that your vote is counted on election day.
Yeah, I wanted to pick up on something one of you said.
Which is the Republicans vote.
So let me give you a stunning fact about the 2016 election.
White evangelical voters voted at an 85% clip.
I've never heard of a number that high.
And 81% of them voted for Donald Trump.
That is, of all the millions of reasons why Hillary Clinton lost and Donald Trump won, I would
say that was number one. If 84% of white evangelicals showed up, Hillary Clinton would have
been president. But they show up, they show up at record numbers. Why? Because they know
there's power in it. Now if our side is going to be suckers and let them take all of the votes
and let them take all those elections because they bothered to show up and we didn't,
Well, maybe we do deserve our fate. But understand that the other side doesn't think that
voting doesn't matter. They all know that it matters, and it matters a lot. And that's how they've
seized power. Because the reality is there's far more Democrats and Democrat leading voters
in this country than Republican voters, a lot more. And if the same percentage of Democrats
showed up to vote as Republicans, we would hold all the power. And all of the horrible abuses
you've seen in the last four years, none of it would be an issue. It's not to say that the
current system is great or that the establishment, Democrats are wonderful, no, we would have
to fight them and you know how you fight them? By voting in primaries. Progressives showed up
in primaries at the same rate as corporate Democratic voters do, or television viewing Democratic
voters do, then we'd route them. So it really is in a sense as easy and simple as voting.
Now I know why people don't, because it feels like no matter what we do, we get the same result.
For until Trump, corporate Republicans, corporate Democrats, and the same damn result.
So in a lot of ways, it is the fault of the establishment Democrats, in my opinion, that they made our
side so cynical and never delivered results for us that it winds up depressing our vote.
And every time we ask them to, for God's sake, will you actually pass a bill?
Will you do something progressive that excites your own side? So they show up to vote,
we get a wall of no. But step one is defeat the fascists, because their side is going to show
up in record numbers. There's no question. So we can't fight against the establishment,
Democrats if there is no democracy in the first place. So we got to go and make sure that we vote
in this election. And then step two is, for God's sake, 2022 primaries, primaries. Step three is the
2024 primary for president. And under no circumstances will we listen to the media telling
us in that case, don't vote. Don't vote in the primary. Just let Joe Biden or Kamala Harris
Avid. No, this is the only show that arguably is the one that's consistent. We tell you to vote
in all of those elections. I just wanted to just to echo what Jenks said, regarding marginalized
people, people of color, who do feel like it is hopeless and they feel helpless that no matter
who is in office, it doesn't matter because we get a poor share of the deal.
We're not fighting for those issues right now. We're fighting for our democracy.
You're the your president of the of this not United States declared New York, Seattle, and and what is it Seattle and what else?
Portland, Portland, anarchist states. You know, when we talk, we've been talking a lot about martial law, even though Marco Rubio doesn't know how to spell Marshall. We've been talking about.
A lot of these issues that are dealing with our current state, but our freedom, like my dad is, my stepdad is from Cuba, and a lot of the things that we've been seeing are just very reminiscent of what is happening in those countries where they have an authoritarian state. And so we're talking about holding on to our democracy. And we can deal with all that other stuff later because historically,
Either party hasn't been great to us, but we're not fighting for that right now.
If you, do you see these people who are go against Donald Trump, but they will support him
because they want to maintain their agenda? They're trying to get that Supreme Court justice
in there. Mitt Romney just turned, you know, one day he's walking with Black Lives Matter the next
day he's endorsing or he's supporting Donald Trump in his craziness because they want to maintain power.
And to them maintaining power is more important than your rights.
Yeah. So we gotta show up, even if we feel like nobody does it for us.
And when we show up in our numbers that and the numbers that we have, then we hold them accountable.
But we cannot sit this one out right now.
100%. Couldn't agree more. I know there are some people, including people in Democratic leadership
that want you to believe that the sum total of all of your political activity should be voting every
Every two years, probably every four years. Nancy Pelosi, you know, asked about, you know,
Trump taking over RBG's seat says, you know, well, then you should go vote. And there will be
consequences in future elections. That's not the entirety of your activity, your activism,
your involvement. It should be, this is one thing that you do, but it is incredibly valuable.
As Ida said, it has to be valuable for them to want to steal it so badly. And so you cannot
surrender willingly that portion of your political power. And I agree, like having Biden is not
going to be some sort of fantasy land, some sort of utopia. If you're a strong progressive,
it might still seem like hell, but even hell has levels. And as Ida said, there are things
that cannot be accepted. But really fast, a little bit more information before we proceed.
two things. One, many of you watching this special might already, you might be responsible.
You already might be registered. But don't you want to make sure that you're registered that
it went through successfully, especially if you mailed this in? Well, again, you can go to
vote.org and check your registration. If you haven't already registered, feel free to go there
and do it. But if you have already, make sure that you did it. Make sure that you know your
accurate polling place, get all of that information ready to go. And I wanted to say one more
thing. We got a member comment from August who said, make sure you know the entire ballot.
Make sure you give yourself time to get yourself educated on ballot measures and those running
down ballot. For me, local races are the hardest to find the positions of the people.
August could not be more right. Biden is at the top of the ticket, but there are so many other
things they're going to be determined on election day, even more reason to show up. But you
need to know what those ballot initiatives are. You need to know if there are good people
in other positions that you can be supporting, whether it's Congress, state,
legislatures, perhaps your DA, judges, all sorts of things like that. There's a lot going
on in Election Day and right now you have more than enough time to do all of that research
between today and Election Day.
And I just go ahead, no, no, if you took your behind out there in them streets and you marched
and you were, you showed up to fight because you feel that what's happening in America,
particular in particularly with the with law enforcement. If you were on social media posting
black boxes and hashtags, if you show up every single opportunity that you have because you're
trying to get likes and you don't show up at the poll, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Because at the end of the day, all of that is just performative if it's not followed up with
action. And those of us who are the descendants of the people who were not allowed to vote, who it was
wants law for them not to vote should be show we should be showing up in numbers and challenging
those old white people who continue to show up and vote so that they can maintain their power
in this country. Yeah. Yeah. I love all of your member comments too. Uncooperative Orrin-Dreason,
how can a Canadian vote millions of times to help? I'm very, very worried for you all.
I love your brother, but don't do that. Okay, don't vote even once, let alone a million times, at least
least in American elections, but definitely participating in Canadian elections, that'll be great,
okay? And speaking of which I want to thank more donors here that make this show possible as well.
So let me go to that list real quick. These are all folks who gave at t.wit.com slash go,
and anybody can do that no matter where you live. VVV and Compton gave 15 bucks. Thank you, V.
Shauna B in Midland, Texas, five bucks, Christopher K in Florida, three bucks, Robert B in Abington, Massachusetts, three bucks, Timothy D in Berkeley, California, three bucks.
That's how we do it, man. The right wing has billionaires that support them.
We got Timothy, Robert, Christopher, Shauna, and V given three to 15 bucks.
That's how we do it at t.yt.com slash go.
Yet we still beat all them combined on YouTube and in all social media.
Sad day for them. Now let's do it in the voting booth, okay? We got to get out there.
And look, I'm gonna say one last thing on that. We have credibility here at TYT.
When corporate Democrats tell you don't vote in primaries, but vote in the general election,
they lose credibility. When the media doesn't cover issues or policy, et cetera, and then tells
you to go vote based on what, hairstyle, and especially before the Trump era, God, they covered
no substance at all. And even in the Trump era, they like covering the tweets and the outrageous
things, but how about the issues? Almost never. But we, we cover the issues and policy for you guys
all the time. So we know what's on the line. And look, you know, for those of you were worried
about voting for Democrats, if you watched one minute of the Young Turks, you know we basically
fight Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for a living, okay? And I'm telling you, if they, if you hear from
them, oh, this is the most important election of our lifetimes and you discounted, I hear you brothers
and sisters. That's what they say in every election to try to get your vote without delivering
for you. But I'm here to tell you, having built up 18 years of credibility that you saw with
your own eyes, this is the most important election of our lifetimes, not even close to the others.
I told you, Clinton versus Dole, I mean, you guys, that was from earlier on in my career.
But back then even, I was like, Clinton Dole, they're pretty close, they're pretty similar.
Romney Obama, they even had the same healthcare plan, very similar.
The rest of the media and Democrats would be outraged by that statement.
That is beloved Stinted Obama, how dare you against the Romney a Republican?
No, man, their policies were so close to one another.
Corporate Democrat versus Corporate Republican.
This election is not like that.
Trump will end this whole thing, democracy and the Constitution.
That is not hyperbole, we're not the mainstream media, it's real.
You gotta get everybody you know and make sure they vote.
Yeah, and I just wanted to say one thing.
We watched Donald Trump lick the shoes of all of these leaders from around the world
who are dictators from Putin to North Korea.
He's been, as we say,
cupcaking with these people.
And it ain't because he is doing it for America.
It's because he's doing it like for the same reason that he does everything he's always done himself.
And he will negotiate America's democracy for power and wealth as he's done everything else in his life.
So if you think that not going to vote is not going to do it's not going to do anything,
we got to get this guy out of there.
That guy belongs in a jailhouse, not in the White House. Please, if you don't, you know,
I don't rock with any of them. I think that they're all corrupt. But this one, this one matters.
Our freedom, like I don't sleep at night. I don't think they really understand. You don't understand
what they're doing. They're dropping police that are not real police. They're arresting people.
They're kidnapping citizens. They are doing the things that they do in those countries that are led by
the people that Donald Trump idolizes. If you think he does not trying to do that,
you got another thing coming. You better show up and vote. Exactly, exactly. Yeah,
the party that is seemingly okay with a doctor nicknamed the uterus collector is a party
that we need to get out of political power as soon as we can. Ida, thank you so much.
You know, always down to hear what you have to say, especially in this topic. Thank
you so much for joining us. For everyone at home, we're gonna take a short break. We come back,
We're gonna have more on on voting as well as voter myths and all of that.
What you've got coming up though is about four minutes of break, which is more than enough
time to go to tyt.com slash vote, get all of this stuff situated and then you can relax
through the rest of the special. Won't that be nice? We'll see on the other side.
Welcome back to our TYT, get out the vote special. We're back with Jank again.
However, we also have Ben Dixon. How's it going, Ben?
It's going great, thanks for having me, guys.
Good to have you here. I hope you're ready to deal with some BS because that's the focus
of this segment. We're going to be talking about some of the misinformation, the myths,
and basically just fraud that is spread about voting. And it's, look, it's regrettable that I
have to inform you of this, but it turns out it goes as high as the president of the United States.
Misinformation too with tweets like, in addition to winning the electoral college in a landslide,
it wasn't a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted
illegally. Now that's way back in 2016. And it was pretty appalling at the time because it was so
fact free. But we couldn't have guessed at that point how sick it would become because back then
he was just deducting votes from blue states. Now he's deducting tens of thousands of pandemic
deaths. Man, his first term has really been something. But anyway, look, he's also said things
like this about non-citizen voting, like 58,000 non-citizens voted in Texas with 95,000
non-citizens registered to vote. These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg all over
the country, especially in California. Again, it's always about California. Voter fraud is rampant,
must be stopped, strong voter ID. So he added Fox and Friends. I can only assume this was the circle
of presidential misinformation where Fox and Friends says it, he immediately tweets and then it becomes
official policy of the United States. As we've gone over many times, these numbers are not even
close to accurate. And in the aftermath of the 2016 election, the Brennan Center, they did a
widespread investigation of non-citizen voting. They found 30 incidents, not 30,000, 300,000,
just 30 incidents of suspected non-citizen voting out of 23.5.
million votes. So just understand that he might be spreading that misinformation for a reason,
perhaps to set you up to believe certain things about the vote totals of places like Texas and
California. He's amazing. The way that he just makes up numbers with no conscience, it's just
stunning. I mean, if I don't do the right thing in regards of one person, it keeps me up at night,
Right? Meanwhile, he's like, 95,000 illegal votes in Texas. Sure, why not? Okay, just who cares?
As long as we're making things up. So of course, none of that is true. And look, this is the
difference between Republicans and Democrats that's relevant. He won the electoral college with
the smallest margin in American history. It was 70,000 people in three states that made the difference.
And I say that way, wait a minute, it was 537 votes in Florida in 2000, isn't that smaller?
No, when they recounted Al Gore had won the state of Florida. He won the electoral college. The Supreme
Court just stole it from him by saying we're gonna stop to count and make sure the count is not,
the vote is not counted in Florida. By the way, here we go again. Part of the reason they might
want to sit a Supreme Court justice before the election rather than after the election is in case
they want to steal another election. Meanwhile, the Democrats are going, oh, we'll deal with it after the
election. Oh, God. So again, I think we've earned some credibility here in saying that we are not
just lock, stock and barrel in favor of the Democratic Party. Not even close. In fact, we often
fight it, and no one fights it more aggressively in the primaries than we do. But in this case,
unfortunately, they are right that Trump is what they say he is.
which is a ghoul who does not believe in democracy or facts or reason or logic or any of those
things. So, and I have now on a lighter note, I'd like to point out that John and Ben, who are
obviously going to one day be in a some sort of cop buddy movie or something like that.
Although nowadays they're being in a cop movie is not really a comedy anymore.
Yes, they've got legalized. Defund the cop movies. Yes.
They've got the legalized voting shirts on.
You can get that as shop t.com.
Look, that's a win-win because you help support the young Turks and you remind everybody,
go out there and vote.
So all of us hosts are wearing the vote shirts as often as we can before the election
and the vote hat too.
So that's shop, t.y.t.com.
While I'm on it, one real quick thing, I want to thank our donors throughout at t.y.com
because otherwise we couldn't even do this special or really any of our shows.
But Stephanie are from Tallahassee, Florida, $15, $27 from Murray M in Seattle, Washington.
John N. in Olympia, Washington gave $127.
You get the We Press on T-shirt that we're doing as a gift for the folks who give $127.
If you give $1,000, you go on the donor wall in my house, plus you get the hoodie that says
we press on and has a really cool TYT Mike.
Sean H in Marlboro, Massachusetts, 27 bucks, and Jan B in Quincy, Massachusetts, 50 bucks.
You guys power us, we do this show together. Thank you. That's t.com slash go.
I wanted to give Ben a chance to weigh in. Yeah, no. I was thinking about what you're saying
in terms of them making these things up. The thing about it is, is what Republicans are really
good at is fighting the figment of their imaginations, right? They create something out of whole cloth,
out of thin air, and then they engage in an entire campaign against that.
Like, there is as much voting fraud as Joe Biden is as socialist, right?
But they're going to fight against both as if it is a real phenomenon.
They, you know, they go as far as having people like all of their grifters.
I don't even want to call them by name to give them attention here.
But the Project Veritas grip, right?
Where they said that the last election, there was a church van taking people from district to district to
from precinct to precinct and then that became the thing that they focused on and start
fighting against. And so the thing is is that they are we are so post reality and post
truth that it doesn't matter how real it's not. They have made an entire industry,
cottage industry out of fighting against the figments of their imagination.
100%. 100%. I want to give you a little bit more misinformation.
So one of the things that Donald Trump himself has talked about is ballots being submitted or
or votes being cast by people who are dead, or indeed not even people, sometimes dogs vote too.
Did you know that? If you listen to Trump and you get your news from Fox, you do believe that dogs
can vote. Now I believe that dogs should be able to vote. I would replace most human voting
with dogs, but it turns out there was an investigation, it doesn't actually work out that
way. So there was an investigation that found only two cases ever where ballots were actually
submitted in the name of a dog. So the final step of this fear mongering about ballots being
sent out two canines. It turns out only one of those votes was actually counted. And to get it
counted, I want you to take just a quick look at what it took the owner to do. They had a swear
falsely in a voter registration form. They had a forge a signature on it. They had a forge proof
of identity. They had a swear falsely again on the absentee ballot request form. Forge a signature
there, swear falsely again on the absentee ballot envelope itself and forge a signature there.
And all of that was to get one dog vote. And if they were caught, and it turns out they were,
they faced up to 30 years in prison just on federal charges, not state charges as well. So we did
identify one, and that is quite a good dog there that they're participating in democracy. It's
probably not gonna be a big factor in swinging close elections if I had to guess.
So two things about that. First of all, I know what you're thinking. That dog won't hunt.
My God. But unfortunately it does. Because just the very act of talking about voter fraud
makes it feel like more of a real issue. It takes up air time. And so when they
They go on the offense and talk about voter fraud of one time that it has happened with
a dog out of 330 million people in this country and the countless elections that we've had.
They then get people some percentage of people, maybe not anywhere near half.
But even if they got 5%, it would be way too much, but guaranteed they're gonna get at least
the 33% that watch Fox News and love Donald Trump, et cetera.
But I'm worried about the percentage they're gonna get of independence.
They're going to get a certain percentage to go, well, I mean, they did find one case.
I mean, so we got to watch out for it.
So I guess, I mean, let's do making sure that people are, you know, have their IDs and stuff
makes sense because the Democrats never actually gave the counterpoint.
If you're obsessing about Fido voting in the one time that it has happened and you put in voter
ID laws, you're actually going to disenfranchise and cancel out the votes of millions of voters.
Millions of voters. So it makes no sense to do that. But since the Democrats are so weak
and ineffectual, we're constantly fighting on Republican ground and constantly playing defense,
which on airtime alone makes a difference in terms of how people view issues.
Jank, that part right there where you said they take these wild exceptions,
and they try to generalize and make a rule based on it. That is another part of their, of their
machinations. They love to do that, but they don't allow us to do it to them. So for us,
it's the dog voting that they now want to infringe and disenfranchise everyone. But for them,
it's never a case of a one bad cop that we can use to defund the police. So they have hold us to
a standard that they would never hold themselves. And then they go one step further. I think the
scariest thing about this voting fraud thing is that he's calling for 50,000 volunteers to help
watch the polls. Well, this time it's not going to be the Brooks brothers.
who in their $2,000 shoes and $2,000 suits, it's going to be the proud boys with their AR-15s,
and they're going to target specifically minority communities because they can get the most bang for
their buck in terms of disenfranchising democratic votes.
And so there's potential going to be a collision, a confrontation, because Donald Trump
is fomenting this insanity.
Yeah, I definitely agree, we're worried about the suppression too, and we're going to give
people a little bit later on a little bit of information about their rights and all that.
it is a significant concern. To give you just a little bit more information about some of the
myths, one of the biggest collections of it has to do with the mail-in vote. So Trump tweets
things like, there is no way zero that mail-in votes will be anything less than substantially
fraudulent. Mail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged, and even illegally printed
out and fraudulently signed. So you already, if you watch the network, you already know. He
votes by mail every single time. Everyone he's ever met votes by mail every single time.
There's not a person in the Trump administration that didn't vote by mail. Back in 2000,
when he was running for president with the reform party, he wrote an op-ed for the New York Times
calling an all vote by mail campaign by that party refreshingly democratic. Two words that are no longer
in his vocabulary. Here's the thing, it's not fraudulent. There has been a lot of mail voting.
Over the past two decades, about 250 million votes have been cast by a mail ballot nationally.
And the Heritage Foundation has a database that keeps track of all the voter fraud affiliated
with that. And they did find some. Over those two decades, they found 1,200 cases of voter
fraud, which amounts to about 0.006 percent of total votes cast. Now, hypothetically,
in a close enough election, one 20th of a human being could be enough to swing it. But that's
probably not going to happen. I wouldn't worry about that. People voting twice, that doesn't
happen. All of this voter fraud, it just is not a serious concern. It's not serious for us because
we know the facts, it's not serious for them because they know them as well. They're just trying
to confuse you. The Brennan Center 2007 report said, it's more likely that an individual
will be struck by lightning than that he will impersonate another voter at the polls.
Doesn't mean that it never happens. We don't generally make the entire future of our
democracy contingent on a person getting struck by lightning.
Well, could you imagine if they made that argument, guys? You know what? We don't think we should
allow millions of African Americans to vote because they could get struck by lightning.
We're just looking out for them. And that's just as likely as mail-in ballot fraud.
So that's why we erase them from the voter rolls. Because just in case they get struck
by lightning on the way there. And that would be just as legitimate as a case that they're making now.
And yet the mainstream media doesn't call them frauds and hypocrites. The most they'll
do is they'll point out the facts, right, and then leave it be. And the Democrats suck it
fighting back. And so no one goes out there to mock them. Why do you think AOC got so popular?
Because she's the only one who actually bothered to fight back and mock them and be sarcastic,
etc. Whereas most corporate Democrats are scared of their own shadow. Guys like Tim Cain are way friendlier
with Republicans than they are with progressives. And so the reason I mentioned progressives in this
context is it's not that progressives are just better because they're closer to what Democratic
voters actually think about the issues. It's also because we're stronger. And so why is that?
Is that a biological thing? Of course not. We're all human beings.
Right? The reason why progressives are stronger than establishment Democrats is because
we're not tied to corporate donors. So we could actually say logical things. And we could actually
logically fight back against the other party, the opposition party, right? But corporate Democrats
go, oh, yeah, but what about my donors? And oh my God, I don't want to offend Republicans,
and I don't want to offend the media. And I don't offend anyone. Oh my God, my donors, my donors.
So that's why they go and kiss Republican ass all day long. And then they ask you for your vote
at the last second. So I, as I've been saying throughout this election, I'm sorry, this special,
that's not what we participate in. But this election is not like that. It's Biden is not my favorite
by a million miles, but by 10 million miles he's better than Donald Trump. Just keep democracy
going. It might be on life support, it might need a ventilator and a mask, but you got to
to keep it going. And the way that you do that is to make sure you vote against Donald Trump.
Yeah, yeah. I love the way AOC said it over the weekend. She said voting for Biden is letting
democracy live to see another day. And I even love the meme that's going around of AOC,
how she was smiling and look joyous and just full of energy endorsing Bernie Sanders. And
in the video, she looks so depressed endorsing and supporting Joe Biden. But it is what it is. Like we're
We're at a different point than I think we've ever been in this country. So we may not love them,
but we do need to help democracy live to fight another day. Exactly, exactly. We've got more
planned. We're going to be taking a break in just a moment. We're going to come back and give
information about voter suppression, your rights as a voter, all of that. We're going to get to a lot
of different things. I did want to just read one member comment before we break. Colgate Total is

Because it was from Afro-Lefti who says,
I have a feeling John is underpaid,
which is true, but if there's a reason
you believe that during this special, you need to understand that it has far less to do with
me and far more to do with Asher who put together this special and did a bunch of the producing
on it as well as Marissa and Sophie. They're probably also underpaid to be fair. So they're the
reason that I can sound like I know what I'm talking about. They've put together all of this
in an awesome way. So everyone please give them credit as well. With that, we're to take a four
