Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to The Young Turks, the online news show. Make sure to follow and rate our show with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five stars. You're awesome. Thank you. When West Jet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different. People thought denim on denim was peak fashion. Inline skates were everywhere, and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel. While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when West Jet welcomes you on board.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Here's to West Jetting since 96. Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years. There are some problems here. Sorry, big time. I'm so upset. Oh my God. The guy. Kurtz, Jank, you're David Serroto with you guys tonight. David is, of course, the founder of Lever, which you should be reading every day. They do terrific stories exposing the corruption of the establishment.
Starting point is 00:01:29 It's also a former Bernie Sanders speechwriter, and I would argue one of the leading progressive thinkers in the country. So David, thank you for our co-hosting today. Thank you. Thanks for having me. Yeah, no problem. We're gonna do a couple of lever stories too. A little bit coincidentally. Yep. All right, so let's, so we got a lot of stories today. We've got stories about how the establishment is killing the free markets and who the real socialists are, how they're attacking Abdul al-Said in a completely disingenuous way. And then later in the second, how they're destroying the military, Hegs, with Trump, et cetera, while pretending to stand for it. So let's start with the first story.
Starting point is 00:02:09 There is obviously, and I think it's beyond comedically, a movement in the United States to embrace socialism. We've seen, for example, a joke of a candidate in Wisconsin still get 300,000 votes, people voting for Democratic socialism. But I think the real question, and I think it's a question for you, it's a question for Republicans at large is this. When a young person looks at their life and they say, you know, I did what America asked me to do. I went to college, I got a job, and I don't think I can afford the life that my parents could afford. Now, whether or not that's statistically accurate,
Starting point is 00:02:45 it is a real feeling and a growing feeling. So what is your answer to that young person? Now, that's Will Kane on Fox News. And normally we'd stop here and we'd have David and I rip apart that idea of socialism and communism and whatever garbage they're throwing out there. But wait, J.D. Vance is going to partially do it for us. Let's show you that clip and then react to that. Watch. Our response to socialism, which is a dangerous and destructive ideology, it's been tried in the past and failed, our response to that can't be just to ignore the economic concerns that I think are feeding this rising interest in socialism. And I guess I would say to that young person that you as an American,
Starting point is 00:03:27 citizen deserve to have a good life in this country and you deserve to have a government that is making it easier for you to start a family, for you to afford to get a good education, for you to have a good job, for you to afford a home. And my warning to my fellow Republicans will would be if we don't get this right, don't blame young people for being sympathetic to socialism. We've got to blame ourselves. Wow, David, look at that. So all of a sudden they realize this nonsense talking point about socialism and communism isn't working.
Starting point is 00:04:00 They might have to actually do something, a little bit revolutionary for Republicans to even acknowledge that. What do you think? I mean, I agree. Like, I'm sort of blown away that J.D. Vance answered that in a weirdly honest way. Now, I clearly don't agree with where he wants to take the discourse and the policy debate. But I do think him saying, listen, we can't blame young people for the lived experience that they're dealing with and can't blame them for asking questions about the status quo. I mean, I think that's correct. I think that's like a fair answer, you know.
Starting point is 00:04:42 I think that's, that's, that's, that is ultimately what's going on and what is prompting. I do think an interest in a different kind of paradigm in our politics. Yeah, so in a little bit we're gonna get to Trump blowing it and undoing that and Rudy Giuliani and others as well. But let's stay on this for another second. I think David that what they're seeing is polling and that's usually what these politicians react to. So they probably tested, hey, what if we call them socialists and are starting to?
Starting point is 00:05:17 to see not only is that not working like it used to with the 90 year olds who watch cable news, but that it's maybe even a little counterproductive. And they are definitely seeing polling showing affordability being a giant issue. And my guess is the third layer of the polling that they're looking at is people being angry at the Republicans for not addressing it at all. So that's why Vance has to come in and has to say that they're trying to address it without of course actually addressing it because that would really piss off their donors. So it feels to me like they're responding directly to polling results that I've even seen.
Starting point is 00:06:00 I completely agree. And I also think this, the reason, part of the reason why I think the polls have changed on the socialism question is, let's remember the fall of the Berlin Wall, like the end of the Cold War that you and I are old enough to remember growing up in, at the height of, right, the 1980s, the height of the Cold War, the fear of socialism, communism. And that had been, you know, defining American politics for 50 years at that point, right? That was now, the fall of the Berlin Wall was now 30 plus years ago, 35 years ago. Okay. So the point being that the scare tactics around socialism and communism, they don't ring as true to somebody who's, let's say, 30 years old that never experienced the Cold War and might not even understand the kind of fear mongering reference to that word, right? Like the people, a whole generation has now grown
Starting point is 00:07:02 up not immersed in the red scare fear mongering around words like socialism. And so those words potentially have a different set of meanings to younger people, meaning it's it doesn't evoke you know, images of Rocky 4 and the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis, it may invoke now an image of Zoran Mamdani or the idea of Medicare for all, the idea of a basic social safety net. So I guess what I'm getting at is that the polls themselves have probably shifted because there is a new generation in which the old Red Scare argument does not resonate nearly as much. And I think you'll agree with this. It's less that those younger voters never experienced communism.
Starting point is 00:07:52 It's more that they never experienced the propaganda against communism. Right, that's right. That's right. That's right, exactly. Yeah, and it's not like communism worked. So we're not defending communism here. We're just saying that you guys didn't live what we lived, which was mainstream media doing anti-communism and socialism propaganda 24-7 on a treadmill that never ended, right? And it scared the hell out of people.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Oh my God, the communists are going to kill us. The socialists are going to take over. So now, listen, to be clear, I like, I interviewed Barack Obama many years ago at this point when he was a senator. And he said something to the effect of, look, you know, what they have in Western Europe, like the basic social safety net, you know, social democracy, right? Doesn't seem so malice to me. That's what he said to me.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And I think he was actually getting at like an important truth. Like like there's communism and kind of hardcore, um, propag-socialism that's been propagandized to create all these images in, in an older generation's head. And then there's like, you know, the basic, um, social democracy that exists in many, if not most advanced industrialized countries, uh, things like again, like universal basic health care, right? Like that doesn't sound so scary to a generation, uh, that is struggling to afford everything. What's scary to that generation and to more and more Americans is simply not being able to afford the daily necessities of life.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Yeah. So now we're going to let J.D. Vance make the case that they're actually doing something about this. And then we're going to show you Donald Trump hilariously blowing up the whole thing. Okay. But first, let's watch for hands. Whilst these things sometimes take a little bit of time, we are already seeing the positive results come from the president's economic policies. We're seeing trillions of dollars of new investment into this country, which means good middle-class jobs for young people, middle-income people, all across our country. We're seeing housing prices finally stabilized. They doubled during the Biden administration. They have finally kind of flatlined during the first year and a half of the Trump administration.
Starting point is 00:10:04 We also want to get interest rates down, of course, so that young people can afford a home. And I think what is so unique and refreshing about Donald Trump's economic, policies is that it's not the same old economic, you know, ideas that you would have heard 30, 40 years ago. He's talking about rebuilding our industrial base, rebuilding the heartland, making our streets safer, making it possible for young people to afford to buy a home. Yeah, I mean, it's fine enough propaganda. We're doing amazing stuff. Of course, the reality is they're not doing any of that. I mean, what world is he talking about?
Starting point is 00:10:39 Like, I mean, what America is he talking about? Like, frankly, I'd like to live in that America that he's describing this like amazingly affordable country. Like, where is that country? What planet is he living on? So that's why the propaganda isn't working because number one, our prices are something we feel every day. It's not like you're gonna trick us about what our grocery prices are, right?
Starting point is 00:11:02 Or what gas prices are. And number two, because of social media and online, media, just regurgitating propaganda on TV isn't working these days. And so look, we're fair a show in America, there are actually literally about three or four things that prices have gone down on eggs, bread, and cars, if I remember, right? Literally everything else, just imagine anything else prices have gone up, right? Housing, gas, you name it, and inflation is a real problem, and now unemployment's a real problem. So we're in a world or hurt here.
Starting point is 00:11:35 But it's okay because Donald Trump says he doesn't care. He just said that right before we got on the air here. Let's watch. For you to pay a tiny little bit more for your gasoline, just remember you're doing it so that a very evil country cannot have a country really is the number one state sponsor of terror in the world. We don't want to have them have a nuclear weapon. So remember that when you have to pay a little bit more, you're at $4. It's okay. I mean, I'm not, I'll never apologize.
Starting point is 00:12:08 I did the right thing. Picture this. It's 1 a.m. You tell yourself just one more scroll through social media. And suddenly you're spiraling over the latest political dumpster fire. That spiral doesn't just exhaust your mind. It actually spikes your internal body temperature. And when your body stays hot, you can never hit that deep restorative sleep.
Starting point is 00:12:28 So the fix? It's not a meditation app. It's your bed temperature. Enter chili pad 2.0. The headlines will still be there in the morning. You might as well wake up ready for them. So he'll never apologize for us.
Starting point is 00:13:40 So you're paying more for gas. So he said before that he doesn't care about higher gas prices. He also said it's actually a good thing that we have higher housing prices. Maybe if you own a couple of mansions, it might be a good thing. Their value has gone up. Right, but outside of that. So while Vance is out there going, no, we care, we care. How much is Trump blowing it every day by saying, no, I really don't care what happens to you at all?
Starting point is 00:14:03 Well, to my mind, both of them are doing sort of a version of politics that we know hasn't really worked in the past. And it's, and we know that, by the way, I think from the Biden years. It was incredibly frustrating to see during the Biden years that coming into re-election, or Kamala Harris's situation, there was this argument that from the Biden administration that Americans should essentially be more grateful for the economy that they had. And I think this is a trap that incumbent administrations fall into, which is this idea that they have to defend the status quo because they're in office. And it misses a really important lesson from history.
Starting point is 00:14:51 One of the most profound lessons that I think FDR back in the 30s taught about politics was, it wasn't that getting elected the first time against Herbert Hoover was so amazing because Herbert Hoover was the incumbent during the Great Depression. What was difficult politically was for FDR to get reelected in the middle of the depression. And how did he do that? He cast himself as on the side of those who were upset with the economy. He did not accept the idea that he was the creator of the current economic situation.
Starting point is 00:15:27 He did not try to defend the current economic status quo. He cast himself as a as a, as a, the tip of the spear of the grievance. And so fast forward now, you saw Biden, the Biden administration not really understand how to do that, not willing to say, hey, listen, the economy is not so great. And we are mad about that. And we are just as mad as the country is. And the problem is it's Republican obstruction in Congress preventing us from actually dealing with this problem. Biden didn't do that. A lot of it was simply, oh, Americans are diluted. They should think the economy is better. It's the same situation here. Trump and Vance are, Trump is saying, I don't care. Vance is saying actually everything's good. Neither of them are. are saying actually things aren't great and we are making an argument about how we're gonna make it better. Neither of them are doing that and I think it's the Republicans falling into the trap of accepting the idea that the economy's problems are an outgrowth of the Republican Party's policy, which it frankly is, but I'm just shocked to see the Republic, and I'm not shocked, I guess I'm
Starting point is 00:16:36 I'm just, it's amazing that the Republicans aren't figuring out a way to deal with that. They're just defending the status quo. Yeah, but you know, look, as you and I take on the establishment Democrats all the time. And so I think one of the reasons that established Democrats are not good at whether it's in the Biden era or even attacking these days under the Trump era on these issues is because generally speaking, they also don't care. And they're also protecting the donor class. So I agree with that. Like they don't feel it in their bones. That's why like Mamdani, and Abdullah Said and other progressive candidates are so hyper-focused on affordability because they don't have to please their corporate donors.
Starting point is 00:17:21 That's a really, really good point. And by the way, to go back to the FDR example, right, FDR in 1936 running for reelection, says, you know, essentially I welcome the hatred of the oligarchy. Like, that's how he cast himself running for reelection. Organized money is all against me, and I welcome their hatred. He was able to do that because he wasn't relying. on their support and their money. And it's the same thing with more successful democratic populist politicians today,
Starting point is 00:17:49 who are saying, I'm not accepting the idea that I'm part of the establishment. And I don't need to placate donors. And I agree with you that the reason that the Democrats have not made nearly the most cogent critique of Trump and the administration on economics is because you're right. The Democratic Party, its leadership currently, answers to much of the same owners and donors. I mean, they may be different individually, but in terms of industries, they answer to the same, you know, a certain set of powerful interests that don't want an economic critique, who think that the current economy is basically just fine. And so that's why you've got a, you don't have much
Starting point is 00:18:33 of a discourse, except the discourse, I think, being fueled and coming from the populist wing of the Democratic party. But that's not a discourse that's happening sort of party-wide. Yeah, for sure. Now let's go back to making fun of the Republicans. Because Rudy Giuliani is going to tell you how they're going to help young people in this country with affordability crisis. I'm kidding. He's going to do the opposite. Let's watch. Look, some folks in this country of the younger generations are feeling the squeeze a little bit economically. Who cares if they're squeeze. Their grandparents felt the depression and were pro-American. Yeah, right. They don't have anything like the depression. They're bunch of privilege. Right. You're right. What they really need is somebody like my father to kick
Starting point is 00:19:14 the shit. Right. So my point. Yeah, right. You're, you're, that's it. And if I ever said the things about America that they said, I wouldn't, I wouldn't get much of a chance to say it in my house. I mean, I can't imagine. I can't imagine what their parents are like. Right. Oh, they're going to say, oh, a lot of those parents are going to, well, I don't know. It's interesting, right? Even, I got to credit my parents, I felt like they raised me the right way. I was expected to do chores and, you know, work around the house. They weren't a bunch of ex-hipbies. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Well, that's also. A lot of the parents of these kids are a bunch of eggs hippies. And they were smoking their marijuana and these people were smoking even strong of marijuana. That was hilarious. That's his co-host. I mean, that was, that was amazing. That was incredible. I mean, I mean, there's so much there.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I mean, first of all, what? The answer to young people. being upset with the economy and the direction of the country is that their parents should like kick the crap out of them. Like that, that's, I mean, that's really pretty old school. You know, and also, I don't know, this idea, I mean, if we actually take what we just heard seriously, what it's trying to do is saying is the old Republican trick of any criticism of the establishment of the current status quo is not only unacceptable, but un-American. Is traitorous, is seditious, you are anti-American if you do not like the direction that the
Starting point is 00:20:54 country is going. And that's the argument that Rudy Giuliani is making. And the problem with that argument politically, obviously, is that look, there are a lot of, like, rank and file MAGA conservative folks in this country, young, old, middle age, who also don't think the economy is very good and the economic policy is being directed. Well, I mean, you look at the polls, right? This is a nonpartisan issue. Like, do you think the country's going in the right direction? Like, not a lot of people do, and not a lot of people think the economy is humming along so well. Yeah, no, that was hilarious as Ted Goodman, his co-host is trying to redirect him to,
Starting point is 00:21:33 Remember, we're trying to have empathy for young people. Remember, they're going to vote, right? And Rudy's like, yeah, maybe because they're smoking, you know, be even better marijuana these days. That's what the problem is. They need to get their ass kicked. And that way, they'll love paying more for gas. I mean, it's like, there were like so many cliches baked into that. It was like, it was like a montage of like pop culture cliches about hippies and their parents.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I felt like I was watching an episode of the Wonder Years or Mad Men. Okay, we got one more. How are we gonna top that? Well, Representative Glenn Rothman, a Republican, is going to argue that they haven't helped rich people enough. No, he's not. Is he? Let's watch. Don't let anybody tell you the people running Congress right now are looking out for the rich. Actually, I think we should do a little more. But right now, we are doing all we can to help the middle class. Right. If I was designing a task for the rich, I wouldn't talk about over time. I wouldn't talk about carolans, right? No, you didn't hear it wrong. He literally said, I actually think we should be doing more for the rich. I mean, I don't know which was, which was crazier. We should be doing more for the rich or we're doing everything we can for the middle class.
Starting point is 00:22:51 I mean, does literally one human being in America think that Congress is doing everything it can for America's middle class? I mean, I think if you polled like across Democrats, Republicans, independents, you might not find one human being in the United States who thinks Congress is doing everything it can to help America's middle class. I mean, and he didn't say that tongue and cheek. He meant it. Yeah. And what do we got? We got a $4 trillion tax cut that largely went to the wealthy. They threw in a couple of chotchkees for the rest of us, but they expire right away. And the tax cuts for the rich and corporations last forever. How much more could we do for the rich? Like seriously, like game this out for a second? Like what else could be done for the rich?
Starting point is 00:23:41 Yeah, we've redirected subsidies to all the corporations. So they littered the jobs of people like Glenn Grohman from the Grothman prophecies apparently is that they take bribes from corporations like Exxon Mobil and oil companies. and they steal our taxpayer money and redirect it towards them. Oil companies get $35 billion of subsidies. You've heard me say it a thousand times. What are we giving them a $35 billion gift every single year? Like we've got so much money, the middle class is flush with cash.
Starting point is 00:24:15 So we just need to give more gifts to the richest people in the country. And then Grohman says, not enough, you should be giving more of your middle class money to the rich. It's just disgusting. And then meanwhile, last thing on this, David, raising taxes on the wealthy polls at 76%. Yet if you watch mainstream media, all you'll see is these radical progressives with these very unpopular radical ideas of tax increases for the rich, can you imagine? So I often characterize mainstream media as the getaway driver in this great American robbery.
Starting point is 00:24:58 So would anyone in this country guess that three quarters of Americans want to raise taxes on the wealthy? Because our media lies to them 24 7 and pretends the opposite. Well, what's incredible about it is, is that those kinds of numbers exist even though corporate, oligarch and billionaire-owned media denies the existence of that reality in almost every form of every piece of content that it produces. In other words, there is that support for raising taxes in a serious way on the wealthiest part of the population, despite the 24-7 propaganda campaign to either completely ignore the issue or, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:46 deny that reality. I mean, that says to me that the support for that kind of basic reform is so strong that it exists despite the essentially the Jedi mind trick that is being pumped into people's mind all the time. And I would also say, Jenk, something that I think you probably agree with as well. It's also undermines the the idea that mainstream corporate media is as powerful as it thinks it is. Like, it is powerful, to be clear, there is a power in corporate, oligarch, and billionaire-owned media. But it has less power than ever before. And this is one data point in that, that support for raising taxes on the wealthy, which is almost never represented in corporate media, exists despite that corporate media propaganda,
Starting point is 00:26:40 which is an implicit data point that the propaganda isn't working as well anymore. Yeah, that's 100% right. And David and I have been speaking against this for the last 20 to 25 years, but seeing online media succeed enough to be able to breach the walls of corporate media propaganda is a thing of beauty. And we've been waiting our whole lives for it. So I think we're past the tipping point, but we're not at victory yet. We need to actually get people into power that will actually do something for the average American in the middle class and not constantly help the donor class. All right, we're gonna take quick break here. When we come back, David's organization, the lever has written about a socialist hunter that corporate Democrats are
Starting point is 00:27:26 hiring. They're gonna come after people on the left, even though they're pretending to be on the left. How much are they going to pay this person and how much are they going to spend overall? That's a little depressing, but we'll give it to you when we return. rebate is back. Eligible customers get up to $5,000 with the federal EVAP rebate on select 2027 Volt and 2026 Equinox EV models. Visit your local Chevrolet dealer today for more details. Blind, let's go to Super Chat first. Allie writes, and I believe the term socialism doesn't scare Americans anymore because half of America's own passports and the internet has opened up the daily lives of the people who live in those socialist countries. Yeah, it's one thing to say,
Starting point is 00:28:46 oh my God, you're going to wind up like the Soviet Union or Cuba. It's another thing. You're gonna wind up like Norway or Sweden. That actually sounds pretty good. So now let's go to YouTube members. RB net engineer says if the financial situation in the USA is so good, why is the budget deficit at record highs and the national debt is now $39.91 trillion. Those are good questions and ones they don't have an answer to. I know what added to that, wars and tax cuts for the rich created a giant percentage of that.
Starting point is 00:29:20 debt. Neil Whittington, 23 says, keep on keeping on with TYT. Thank you, Neil, appreciate it. Mark Francis says, I don't agree with everything DSA stands for much better than corporate Democrats. Mark, you speak for me. I think that's exactly how I feel. Eileen Palumbo says, JD said those things because he's running for president in 28. He doesn't mean a word of it. Oh, for sure. And he also said it about the 2026 elections. Now, tYOT.com members, Brad O'Donnell says, oh my God, it's Sarota. Been a fan since open left days. Love that.
Starting point is 00:29:55 I mean, Cabbage says socialism only for the rich is not democratic socialist. I'm TYT, the online news network. Jank U.S.R. David Serrida with you guys. Also James Plunkett, who just hit the join button on YouTube. Guys, we need it these days and we really appreciate it. So if you can join or upgrade through the join button on YouTube or you can get a couple months off an annual membership through t yt.com slash join and at t yt.com slash join you do get the member stream where we interact with you guys during the ad breaks and read your comments.
Starting point is 00:30:42 All right, let's go to the next story. Hassan piker is unknown to most Americans who determine elections. Swing independent voters had never heard of Hassan piker. The ones you have wouldn't like him. You mentioned piker isn't that famous, but you wrote a Wall Street Journal op-ed about him. Why did you think was important to do that? We called him out because we wanted to warn mainstream Democrats not to associate with him, not to elevate him, not to put him on their platforms or campaign with him, because, in fact, that will drive away the swing independent and moderate voters that they need to win.
Starting point is 00:31:24 So that's John Cowan of Third Way. That's a corporate think tank pretending to be Democrats. And so that was a hilarious little piece there. Now in a little bit, we're gonna tell you about how much money those guys are gonna spend to basically make sure Democrats lose elections while pretending to be Democrats so they could help their Republican friends get more corporate bills passed. But before we even do that, David, that was a funny little thing right there that we saw. Now, Hassan Piker totally irrelevant, but we decided to amplify him so we can smear everyone
Starting point is 00:32:00 else with his opinions. So that way, the candidates that don't even hold his opinions could be defeated so that our corporate donors can win. Wait, did I say that out loud? John, you kind of did. David, what are you making that? Yeah, I think that's exactly what's going on. But I, you know, I think that what that there's something deeper here, right? That it's not just ideology. Like there, yes, there is an ideological fight between third way, the corporate democratic faction and people like Hassan Piker and people who I think Hassan is perceived to represent.
Starting point is 00:32:42 That is a real ideological fight. But my take is that underneath the rage that we're seeing against Hassan Piker, whether by third way or sort of corporate media, that it's something beneath ideology and it goes to power and frankly money and business. That I think that what they see in Hassan Piker is somebody, it's very similar to the kind of blowback that you get, which is building an audience without asking permission, right? That is the highest crime of all that I think Hassan Piker and independent media,
Starting point is 00:33:23 has committed against these people. It's that they've, it's that they've built an audience and political power without asking the corporate democratic faction for its permission. And I think that explains the freak out because if that is allowed to occur, if that is allowed to gain influence, it necessarily reduces the influence and power of groups like third way, of media like corporate media. And so the, I guess the stridency of the freak out here against Hassan Piker betrays how afraid they are of what they perceive him to represent. And I think that that really does explain why they're so angry. And I think by the way, they're trying to lay the groundwork for this for the 2028 Democratic presidential primary. I think that is frankly what this is all about, that they see their power being imperiled ahead of that contest inside the Democratic Party.
Starting point is 00:34:28 And they're trying to create conditions that they still get to have as much outsized influence as they've had in the past. And Hassan Piker and independent media in general is a threat to their influence in a democratic presidential primary that could very seriously determine the direction of the entire party for the next decade. Yeah, that is definitely right. And so that's why Cowan and Third Way have hired a socialist hunter. Okay, so they're gonna go on the hunt and try to- This is so hilarious. Yeah, we're gonna find the people trying to help you and destroy them. Well, congratulations. So New York Times and and the lever, David's organization have written about this. So let me tell you about that. and we'll bring David back to get his reaction.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Cowan is, New York Times now says, Cowan is planning a new $15 million effort between now and 2028 to discredit Democratic socialism. Now again, count is pretending to be a Democrat and he's spending this election cycle, not attacking Republicans who are his friends and allies in the corporate world. He's attacking other Democrats to help the Republicans
Starting point is 00:35:35 and spending $15 million to do it. Now we go to the lever for their reporting. Third way, the corporate-backed centrist, quote unquote, think tank, pushing Democrats to the right is hiring a new director of, quote, anti-extremism. That person will be responsible for overseeing a takedown of the Democratic Socialists of America, DSA, and by, quote, assembling and updating a database of DSA's most extreme ideas and statements. I'm going to come back to that in a little bit, including, quote, a repository of voting records, affiliations, and issue positions. The role also involves recruiting and arming a group of young diverse spokespeople to fight the DSA from a center-left perspective. Oh, great. Now it's not just Israel and the Russians, by the way, buying influencers.
Starting point is 00:36:20 The corporate Democrats are going to buy influencers. Those puppets are going to be paid to say a different thing, which is corporations are great. We should not try to help average American that is socialist, right? I wonder how much that pays. I don't know if it's 7,000 or more. For young people, you're going to have to pay them a decent amount. Although ironically, they can be like, hey, we destroyed all of your opportunities. And since you can't afford anything now, the only way you can make a living is by doing corporate propaganda for us.
Starting point is 00:36:47 In fact, I'm going to tell you how much that pays in a second. Third way for their part says, well, yeah, we're proud of this. They say new extreme forces on the left are on the rise. And they represent a shark break from traditional left wing in American politics. Their ideas are not just unwise or unworkable, and their rhetoric is not simply heated. Instead, we are now confronted with a faction that is radical, illiberal, and in many cases, overtly discriminatory. The rise of these, maybe against the rich, I don't know, the rise of the end corporations,
Starting point is 00:37:18 the rise of these voices in American politics pose distinct dangers for the center left? Sure, brother, if you say so, they continue where they take power. They govern badly, who? leaving the working and middle class voters for whom they claim to speak worse off and more disillusion. Give one example. Anyway, they champion politically toxic ideas and offensive rhetoric that cannon will be used by the MAGA right to define all of their opponents, including those on the center left. So you're going to spend $15 million to help the MAGA right so that you could defeat them at a later time. at a later time of their choosing.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Well, so these dangerous Democratic socials like Chris Rab, for example, in Pennsylvania, who recently won a primary in the, you know, A-PAC and corporate Democrats cried and cried over it. So what are his dangerous ideas? Well, let's find out. These are his planks, his top six, homes, guaranteed homes for everyone through housing first model. Okay, you could say maybe guarantee sounds a little strong, but doing housing first makes a lot of sense to a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:38:25 And there's different ideas for how to address housing, but he's at least addressing it, which none of the corporate Democrats or corporate Republicans are. Food, regional food stability and national grocery stores. Oh, okay, so handle prices on food, which is gonna help people. Healthcare, Medicare for all, protecting reproductive freedom, air, very popular at 65%. Air and water, ensuring access to clean and air water, well over two thirds, approve income, universal basic income and a living wage for all. Whether you agree with universal basic income or not, they're saying let's raise the wages
Starting point is 00:38:59 for the average American and pieces of policy safety for our communities at home and abroad. And that pulls it over 80,000, 80%. So since all of these are super popular policies, how much are they going to have to pay to get someone to do propaganda against them, especially if they're young? They said on their website, $140,000 to $150,000 a year. Job also includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, sick days, and vacation days, parental leave and long-term disability. If you take this job, none of those will be provided to anyone else, but hey, you'll
Starting point is 00:39:36 get it and you'll get $150,000 to betray your own. Okay, the lever says one more thing here, then come back to David and give you more details in a second. In other words, the Democratic Party hacks want to give all the things to one person so that they can destroy an organization that wants other people to have those things too. So David, I thought the most telling part was talking about how they're going to dig in and try to find the most controversial things that the essay says. Now whether that's their top priority is irrelevant, whether it's like a random thing that
Starting point is 00:40:12 no candidate is actually pushing is irrelevant, but if they dig into, oh, we found Oh, there's one person at DSA who wants to abolish Thanksgiving. That said, yes. Let's pretend that all the Democratic candidates want to destroy Thanksgiving so we can help the Democrats? Yeah, I mean, there's so much here to unpack. I mean, first of all, so apparently it's an extremist agenda. I mean, use that under like this is, I'm just sort of taking what they're saying.
Starting point is 00:40:43 It's an extremist agenda to want people every American. American to be able to breathe, have clean air, be able to have a roof over their head, to be able to see a doctor when they get sick, to not have a sort of permanent state of mass killing of people in terms of endless war. Like this is apparently what we are told is now extremism. And I just think that is really important to like hone in on for a second, because this is how the overton window of the discourse works. It's to try to gaslight us, frankly, into thinking the basic things that most of us agree on are actually extreme, that that's actually fringe. Like you're crazy and extreme to think that you should have a basic right to be able to breathe clean air, right?
Starting point is 00:41:41 So I think about that and that framing. Anti-extremism is just such an important tell about what this is about. I do think it's hilarious that this job to berate those things also offers basically a cradle-to-grave socialism for the person who gets this job. I mean, that's actually pretty hilarious, right? Like, socialism, you're getting a job to berate the granting of things to people that you will actually get in the job. That's kind of a tell as well. But again, what is this really about, Jenk? I mean, that to me is what this, what is the big question. In its own way, that Donald Trump crusade. Now, I'm sure they would say, you know, our anti-extremism
Starting point is 00:42:29 against the DSA and the left is somehow different from Donald Trump's crusade and authoritarian promises to use the government against the same. DSA left. They may try to make a distinction of that, but my point is, is that you're seeing a faction of the Democratic Party indeed, if not in word, making common cause effectively with Donald Trump at a time when what this moment actually requires is real solidarity of the Democratic Party in the fight against Trump authoritarianism. Yep. And they're going to spend a lot of money trying to tear down a lot candidates who are running against Republicans. So they're utterly fraudulent.
Starting point is 00:43:17 And by the way, they're financed by corporations. And now healthcare companies are putting a lot of money into third way. Why? Because the progressive candidates are talking about negotiating drug prices. You're gonna go after a socialist. Your establishment Democrats and Republicans are the ones that killed our ability to negotiate drug prices, that's a direct attack on capitalism. That's a direct attack on free markets.
Starting point is 00:43:48 You guys are the ones trying to destroy free markets on behalf of your corporate benefactors, and then you're pretending that you're against socialism. So there's a lot of ironies here, but let me give you more quotes about how they're planning to attack their own. So they say, Jonathan Cowan says, it's deeply troubling to see radical, far-left candidates to winning in places that are potentially presidential swing states. We are preparing for the next war that is coming. So there's two things that are in there that's amazing.
Starting point is 00:44:17 Number one, he's like, they're winning, that sucks. We don't wanna win. Oops, did I say that out loud? Yeah, John, you did. You said it out loud. And they're like, and in a swing states where Republicans should be winning, but now the Democrats are winning because of these far left candidates. I think you're letting your mask slip.
Starting point is 00:44:34 And then he says, we're preparing for the next war that's coming. It's actually the most true thing he said, because he's saying, let's sacrifice these elections. Let's make sure that the Democrats lose these elections so that we can get the corporate Democrats back in during the general election. So that way, whether the corporate Democrat or the corporate Republican wins, it's irrelevant because they agree to all of the demands that their corporate donors are given them. So the mask is almost completely off. And now we go to Matt Bennett, another executive and co-founder of Third Way.
Starting point is 00:45:05 He says the math is inescapable. Visit BetMGM casino and check out the newest exclusive. The Price is Right Fortune Pick. BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with eye-gaming If it's impossible for a Democrat to win, it is vital that the Democrats step aside and give the independent at least a shot of beating the Republican. Beating the Maga Republican is priorities one, two and three, who beat them with, who we beat them with is pretty far down the list. Now it's funny that he said that because David, it seems like no, they're doing the exact
Starting point is 00:45:59 opposite. They're saying defeating the Maga Republican is not at all a priority, defeating the wrong kind of Democrats who don't take corporate PAC money is a much bigger priority for them. And they're showing that by spending $15 million to do it. And it's amazing. Look at the entitlement complex. Even though you guys have won, we have decided that you can't win the general election. So you should unilaterally step aside.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Because David, they're used to giving those kind of orders and mainstream media would then back them up. No, no, no, the progressives and the populace shouldn't even run. They're immediately disqualified. They should step aside. There should be no democracy at all in democratic primaries. The corporate wing should pick the candidate no matter what. And the reason they have that in time complex is because that's how this country has run and
Starting point is 00:46:51 how the media has run for the last 40 years. And I think that I think what we're really getting at here is, and look, I think people should be concerned about this, that the corporate faction in spending this money and making all these threats. You see also their voices on on Fox News and the like, you know, attacking Abdul El-Said, who's now the general election nominee in Michigan. All of this is exposing a truth that isn't spoken out loud, but is becoming more and more obvious. That the corporate faction of the Democratic Party is willing to try to sabotage Democratic nominees, populist Democratic nominees, is willing to They are willing to try to sacrifice, they're willing to try to sabotage those nominees if the corporate faction perceives that to be the price that is necessary to maintain its own internal party power.
Starting point is 00:47:53 They are willing to do that and potentially have Democrats lose the congressional midterms. if that is the price of the corporate faction staying in power inside of the party. And this is, I mean, the reason everybody should be concerned about this is if you care about putting a check on power of Donald Trump's power and Maga's power, if you actually care about that, if you understand that that is the central overarching short-term, medium-term problem in the here and now, then you should be offensive. by the idea that anybody waving around a Democratic flag is trying to sabotage Democrats' general election nominees against Republicans and MAGA. And so if the corporate faction is willing
Starting point is 00:48:45 to try to sabotage candidates like Abdul El-Sayed, I mean, here's the thing, I understand, like, duking it out in primaries, right? Primaries are a safe space in a certain level, in a certain way to fight out these things because it's not the general election. But if you're still trying to undermine Democratic nominees in the general election, if that is your objective, you are making common cause with Trump and the Republicans. And I think that's a real admission. We're now seeing that. The corporate Democratic faction will deny that. You saw Matt Bennett in that quote say, oh, you know, our priority is defeating Donald Trump. But that is not your priority if you're pledging to spend $15 million against, you know, the so-called left. Like that is not, you
Starting point is 00:49:30 You're making clear in your actions that that is not your priority. And so again, anybody who's worried about MAGA and Trump and wants a check on that power, this is part of the problem here. You have a faction of the Democratic Party threatening to make common cause with the Republicans, effectively in a way that could deny Democrats the majority in Congress and putting that check on power into place. And last thing I'll say is, as usual, corporate media is their top ally. Because when corporate Democrats won, vote blue no matter who. The progressive, they're betraying Democrats.
Starting point is 00:50:08 You've got to vote blue, no matter who. You've got to get a line, right? Progressive Democrat wins. They're like, oh, no, you should betray them. Maybe vote red. Definitely don't help them. In fact, you should spend a lot of money against them. Radical, radical, radical.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Destroy the demigrant. What happened to vote blue no matter who? And the thing is, all of the media has instant. amnesia. And I don't, I don't, and maybe I'm, maybe I'm wrong. Okay, but like I follow this stuff pretty closely. I haven't seen like sort of left of center groups, grassroots groups and the like, attacking more moderate, Democratic nominees after the primary. Like I haven't seen a lot of that, right? I haven't seen like, you know, progressives on TV criticizing Roy Cooper, the general election Democratic nominee in North Carolina, or, or criticizing other more so-called moderate nominees.
Starting point is 00:50:55 It seems to me that the populist progressive wing of the Democratic Party understands the assignment, understands that in a general election, in the last 80 days of a general election, the focus should probably be mostly on Maga and Trump. So I see that the populist left seems to understand the assignment. I don't see the same thing from the corporate faction. The corporate faction is willing to knife Democratic nominees if that is the cost of that faction remaining in power. And the last thing I'll say on this jank is they don't want populist Democrats to win because they don't want an Abdul-Said El-Sahed to be able to say, hey, listen, I ran as a populist, I want a presidential swing state. This is how to win a presidential swing state, because that argument will be very
Starting point is 00:51:40 powerful if somebody like Abdul wins. They don't want that to be the narrative. That's what they're trying to create, they're trying to prevent in the 2028 presidential primary. You're right. And And the reason populist Democrats support other Democrats is because they generally agree with their policies. Not all of them, but 70% of them maybe. And we get frustrated that they don't do those policies, right? But we view ourselves generally as on the same team. Whereas corporate Democrats don't view us as on the same team, because they don't look at it as Democrat or left wing.
Starting point is 00:52:14 They look at it as the corporate team. And on the corporate team, we've got corporate Democrats and corporate Republicans, and they view that as their true allies. and us as the enemies. And that's why you have the, you know, the disparity that you're seeing today. All right, we're gonna take a quick break here. When we come back, we're gonna talk a lot more about that, about that Abdul El-Said race.
Starting point is 00:52:35 The media is in full attack mode, and we're gonna show you some of the most egregious things that they've done. We'll be right back. This guy, Hassan Piker. Let's go to Twitch. Ford County Country 420 says, Turdway, it reminds me of the tobacco industry in the 1990s, they know exactly how cancerous their product is, but they can't stop lying about it. Not coincidentally, Philip Morris is one of the big corporate funders of Thirdway.
Starting point is 00:53:23 That's a great point that Philip Morris is one of their funders. So if you want to poison someone, you go to Philip Morris. And Thirdway is a perfect way to poison the Democratic Party, so it becomes an unpopular corporate party so that the other better corporate party, the Republicans can win all elections. Factually active says the buck stops with everyone, Donald Trump. Yes, everyone else, of course. Bradshaw crew of one says, I love we're having new faces voices on the main show, but I have to admit I'm kind of missing Anna.
Starting point is 00:53:53 No, no, we all miss Anna. She's going to be back on Monday. But I love that we have a variety like David Strata and Corbyn, Trent, and Sabby, All populists left. And then we've had Joe Ken, Marjorie Taylor Green and Glenn Greenwald and this incredible variety. And look at all the agreement across that entire political spectrum. If you're trying to serve the average American, there's actually a ton of agreement out there.
Starting point is 00:54:20 So we should realize who's on what teams. So Galfer 71 says, if the DNC started to come out in favor of universal health care, free education, investing, education infrastructure, et cetera, they could take. not just the House, but also the Senate and POTUS, and maybe eventually SCOTUS, of course. And the problem is that the corporate wing is destroying the Democratic Party. Blues and Rhythm says Vance is beginning to create space between him and MAGA. That's true, he's trying at least, and I'm out of time. We'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:55:02 All right, back on TYT, Jank and David with you guys. Our own Bart Kyle wrote in the member section on TYT.com, whoa, pumped the brakes the road on Rocky 4. Rocky 4 ended the Cold War and saved America. If I can change, everybody can change. And you know what, Bart speaks for me, because I was almost going to say, whoa, easy on Rock U4. Okay. All right, let's do the next story. This is a real potential lifeline to Republicans who want to maintain control of the United States Senate because Abdulazade is in trouble in Michigan.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Take a look here. Michigan Senate Rogers versus Elside. Look at this, a new Fox News poll. Rogers is actually up by four points. He's up by four points. It's close, but a Republican is ahead in Michigan. And why? Why? What is going on?
Starting point is 00:55:51 Look among independents. Rogers actually leads by five. This is extremely unusual because across the political map, as I was looking at these different Fox News, plus I couldn't find another example where the Republican was actually leading among independents. So what you're about to see is a master class in propaganda. So Harry Enten said almost a half a dozen times in that segment, Abdul Osaiyne, incredibly weak, weak, one of the weakest candidates.
Starting point is 00:56:18 I've never seen a Republican leading in a swing state by four. You've never seen that? That's a strange thing to say. David, let me show you more from Enton and then come back and talk about why I think this is such deceptive propaganda by CNN, let's watch. It is all about Abdul Asayyad. He is a weak candidate, at least by the metrics that we normally look at. And you could just take a look here.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Okay, the net favorability rating of the Dem Senate candidates across these northern battlegrounds. You notice there's only one candidate rent, one who has an unfavorable rating higher than his favorable rating, and it is significantly higher. Look how far underwater Abdullah al-Said is. He is 13 points underwater under there in Lake Michigan. My goodness gracious. Abdul Asiad, breaking records in the ways that you don't want to. In fact, he is the first Democrat down by this much, as I said in the century since 1994.
Starting point is 00:57:09 Now, I will note, obviously we have a campaign to go, and I think there are different ways you can look at this metric, right, this race. And I will say it's a snapshot on time. Michigan Senate chances according to the Kalshi prediction market. Look, Abdullah's chances have fallen, but he still has a better chance than not of winning this race. So he snuck that in at the end of about a five-minute segment. He had earlier done a segment of, oh, the Kalshia odd market on Abdullah's side is way down
Starting point is 00:57:34 underneath Lake Michigan, right? And it's because Abdullah had gone from seven years. had gone from 79% chance of winning to 59% chance of winning, which is still sky high. And so that same number he painted, that's terrible earlier. Here and now he says, he's still likely to win. But remember, the worst candidate in a century. There's no other candidate that's doing as bad. But wait a minute, David, did the other candidates, and thank God they didn't, but have
Starting point is 00:58:00 over $60 million spent against them in their primaries? and did they have CNN doing negative stories about them every single night on their broadcast over and over? I don't think they did, did they? Yeah, that to me is the detail that's not mentioned there. So Abdul al-Sayyad gets out spent 10 to 1, $60 million of money from corporate Democrats, APEC, basically telling the entire state of Michigan over and over again that Abdul al-Said is basically a terrorist. And the fact that he is within four points immediately after that onslaught. And by the way, the continued onslaught on cable television of both Democrats and Republicans
Starting point is 00:58:42 criticizing him now in the general election, I think it's actually miraculous, honestly, that he is within four points under those conditions. But again, I think like if you're a Democrat, you know, a corporate Democrat, a corporate Democratic, who's saying Abdul El-Syad is a weak candidate, but not mentioning the you and your faction just spent $60 million to try to make him a weak candidate, sort of leaves out part of the story. But I go back to, you know, why let's ask the question, why do we think the Kalshi markets, and I don't put a lot of weight in the Kalshi markets, why do we think the Kalshi markets still have Abdul-Said as a possible winner here?
Starting point is 00:59:25 And I think the answer is when you start looking at this poll, the details of this poll. This poll still shows a somewhat divided set of democratic constituencies after that primary. For instance, Abdul al-Sayyad's numbers are slightly weaker among black voters, a traditional core of support of the Democratic Party. And so the premise that Mike Rogers is going to be able to grab a quarter or a third of the black vote in Michigan, I think doesn't seem. likely, I'll put it that way. It may, I mean, I guess it could happen, but like it does not seem likely. I think you're seeing a snapshot of a Democratic electorate that is somewhat divided right now in the immediate aftermath of $60 million worth of ads. And I think the Calci markets are probably looking at this and saying there's probably going to be something of a democratic
Starting point is 01:00:22 consolidation over weeks and months. I think, and I think that is a likely possibility. Is it a likely possibility, Is it gonna be a tough race? Absolutely, this is a difficult race. I think Haley Stevens would be in a similar position right now as well. I mean, this is a person who couldn't win her own party's primary despite having $60 million to buy it for her. Not exactly a sign that she'd be a strong nominee either. This is just an inherently difficult race.
Starting point is 01:00:48 I'm not trying to sugarcoat it here, but like the fact that Abdul had withstood that and is still this close, I don't know, I like, I'm not saying it's like great news that he's down for, but I'm not saying it's like, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the is falling here. I'm saying it's actually miraculous that it's this close. One could argue this shows a core base of support that's not going to move from him. And now he's just got to build off that. Yeah, look, I'll double down on a lot of the things you're saying. First of all, Haley seems a terrible candidate. If 60 million had been spent against her and she's in the general election now, she'd be down 14 at least and have no chance of winning. She can't even speak.
Starting point is 01:01:23 She was picked to be an empty vessel. They're all pretending in hindsight. Oh, remember the one who had a 10 to 1 advantage and all of the national media behind her and got clowned anyway, remember her? We think she would have been the better candidate. I know, that's why you did all the propaganda on her side, and you're still lost. But look, I want to talk about how deceptive Harry Anton was in that segment, and then give you the polling about how this race is actually going. So he says that Abdullah Said is the worst candidate of this century. In Michigan in Senate races, wait, of this century. So you're just talking about 26 years, but you framed it as like a century to make it seem
Starting point is 01:02:10 longer. And what were the Michigan Senate races in this century? They were almost all, in fact, they were all Democratic incumbents who were relatively popular and had a ton of money and had much easier path to victory. So he knows that, like you at home, if you're an accountant or a plumber, you might not know that, but Harry knows those others were relatively easy. So this, he's doing a little worse than the relatively easy Senate races of the last handful of years.
Starting point is 01:02:43 But he doesn't say it that way, he says it like, the worst in a century, weak, weak, Kennedy. And part of the reason he's doing that is because he's trying to make Abdul El-Said lose. CNN has done nothing but wall to wall negative coverage of him, and then go, oh, golly, Chi, I wonder why he's having issues. Could it be asked? Yeah, it's you, it's you. You're trying to poison the well to make sure he loses.
Starting point is 01:03:10 That's why you frame him in these incredibly negative ways, and that gets into the minds of the voters. If you think that a candidate is weak or less likely to win, you're less likely to vote for him. It sucks that that's human nature, but it is, and CNN knows that. That is why they do a barrage of negative coverage of clean, honest Democrats, whom, and by the way, all outsiders, to be fair, both Democrats and Republicans who are outsiders, CNN despises them and does nothing but negative coverage to make sure that the corporate
Starting point is 01:03:41 Democrats and Republicans win, and those rascally outsiders are taught a lesson about not running in our democracy. Mainstream media will destroy you, right? Why of this century, Harry? Why of this century? So it's super obvious. Every segment he does is to try to attack Abdul's sake. I haven't seen any of that of Mike Rogers.
Starting point is 01:04:02 When West Jet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different. People thought denim on denim was peak fashion. Inline skates were everywhere. And two out of three women rocked, the Rachel. While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when West Jet welcomes you on board. Here's to West Jetting since 96. Travel back in time with us.
Starting point is 01:04:21 travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years. How about, oh, hey, how is Israel polling in Michigan? Not well, okay, but Mike Rogers says he's going to serve Israel royally and loyally. Did they do a segment on that, how dare you? No, we will never touch Mike Rogers. Yeah, okay, objective, my ass. They're the most biased people in the country. Let me give you the real polling, and it's, it goes in both directions.
Starting point is 01:04:48 You'll see the good numbers, the bad numbers, okay? Because unlike CNN and Harry Enten, we're honest. So Fox News poll, and that's okay, they do polls that are relatively in the same range as other polls. They say Rogers Edge comes mostly from greater party unity among Republicans. Nearly all Republicans, 96%, including both MAGA, 99%, and non-Maga Republicans, 89%, back Rogers. Nine and 10 Democrats, 91% nearly all Democratic Socialists of America supporters, 98% back El-Said. But that falls to 69% among non-DSA Democrats and independents. Because those are the people who mainstream media said, you must hate El-Said.
Starting point is 01:05:29 You must hate him, and he's weak and he's terrible. So now they, hey, congratulations, Harry Anton. You apparently, for the moment being, have swung some Democrats into thinking of voting for a MAGA candidate, Mike Rogers. But hey, don't worry, Mike's gonna support Israel. So yes, yes, right? You wanna celebrate, right? So objective, come on man, Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 01:05:53 So, and all these again, the same guys who said vote blue no matter who, now they're like, yes, Democrats are voting against them. Oh, that's so great. Bernie Sanders supporters, 6% of them voted against Hillary Clinton. It was the worst thing that ever happened. They never told you Hillary Clinton supporters 15% of them voted against Barack Obama. Why do they hide that frack from you? Because they're liars.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Now when they got some moderate establishment Democrats to, and to be fair, almost none of the voters are establishment, really. It's just the folks that they got riled up as like, oh, he's the bad guy, he's a terrorist, etc. Those people are now thinking of not supporting the Democrat, and all of a sudden it's a wonderful thing, according to CNN. So Fox News continues, a small subgroup of independence narrowly favors Rogers. I think that's going to turn around big time. I can get into why in a second. They explain, though, Trump's favorable rating is underwater by 19 points in Michigan, 40% favorable, 59 unfavorable.
Starting point is 01:06:53 Both Senate candidates also have negative ratings, El Saeed at minus 13 and Rogers at minus 6. But Mike Rogers is a rubber stamp for Donald Trump. He's going to agree with Donald Trump 100%. I think that that's going to hurt him big time. That is minus 19 in Michigan. And so no one's run a single out against Mike Rogers. There's not been one negative story about Mike Rogers so far. But there will be, not the stories.
Starting point is 01:07:21 The mainstream media will cover his ass the entire time. And I would be shocked if they did one critical story about Mike Rogers. One, just one. I will not be shocked when they do 200 against El-Said. But nevertheless, the internet catches everyone. We're going to find out that Mike Rogers is a corporate douche. that he works for the corporate packs and he works for A PAC and he doesn't even represent America. He represents a foreign country and he proudly declares it.
Starting point is 01:07:50 So I think independents are gonna come to our side big time. And when we win this election, I'm gonna shove it right up there corporate asses. Okay, we're gonna talk more about that in a second, but let me give you the good polling. El-Sai leads among the most engaged voters with an 11 point advantage among those extremely interested in the election. A seven-point lead among those extremely motivated and a four-point edge among definite voters. Moreover, more Democrats and Republicans are extremely interested, plus 15, motivated to vote plus 11, and certain they will cast a ballot this November plus 7. Now, that's the underlying numbers, because it's one thing to ask a general poll. It's another thing that's asked the poll
Starting point is 01:08:29 of the people who are likely to show up and vote. That's the number CNN hides from you. Oh, don't find out who's actually going to vote. Don't, don't. Remember the weakest candidate of this century, right? Propaganda. Jesus, man. How do they live with themselves? It's super embarrassing to do that kind of hack material. But to be fair, that's all there is on CNN. So they say inflation is a top issue in the Michigan Senate race at 38%. And that's where Mike Rogers is going to suffer, obviously supporting Trump's policies.
Starting point is 01:09:00 And economic anxiety remains palpable with four in 10 saying they are falling behind financially. Other voter priorities are immigration, border security and healthcare, 14% each, and political divisions, 11%. El Said stays competitive thanks to voters who prioritize inflation plus 10 points, healthcare plus 47, and political divisions plus 5, while most immigration voters prefer Rogers, plus 82. So that's what I was gonna say. Immigration is gonna favor Rogers, whether you like it or not. Every other issue is on our side.
Starting point is 01:09:32 Those who say they're falling behind financially also backed El Saeed by 24 points. That used to be a category that Trump and the Republicans won. Now El Said is winning it by 24 because he's the only one actually addressing their concerns. And finally, by an 11 point margin, Michiganers opposed the US continuing to provide military aid to the Israeli government, 44 in favor, 55 oppose. Those favoring aid back by Rodgers by 45 points, while those opposed prefer El Saeed by 29 points. So David, what do you make of those numbers and what does that lead for you to conclude in terms of who's more like to win, not if we voted today, but when we vote in November.
Starting point is 01:10:14 Look, I just think the idea that the Democratic electorate is not going to consolidate in a midterm election against the Republican president's party. I just, there's no evidence that that's, that that has ever not happened, right? Like, there's no evidence that a Democratic candidate has come out of a very tough primary with the party split. And the party hasn't eventually, the party's rank and file voters haven't eventually. consolidated. If you if the party voters return to mean, return to the average situation, my guess is, and I haven't run the exact math here, but if they are at a basic level that
Starting point is 01:10:53 we can expect in the Trump years of how much does the Democratic nominee, how much of the Democratic vote does the Democratic nominee get in a general election, if it returns to the to the mean, my guess is that four point advantage that Rogers has evaporates. Now, I think this is why you saw Mike Rogers right after the Democratic primary do that weird sort of zombie-like two-camera video in which he's trying to appeal specifically to Democratic voters. I think that is going to try to be his strategy. He's going to try to appeal to Democratic voters and try, I guess, to cast himself as somehow a non-Trumpie, non-Maga, Republican. I don't we haven't seen anybody actually pull that off like I think Susan Collins at in Maine might try to try to do that we've never really seen that in the Trump era like Republicans running for Senate or House saying that they're they're really not they
Starting point is 01:11:56 don't like the president I don't know if it would work just because we have never seen that I don't think it would work but I think that's going to be part of the play it's that and by the way running a and I tweeted this It's it's half that and then the other half is going to be running like the George W. Bush 2002 campaign that is all about terrorism, that's all about Islamophobia. I mean, you saw that too as well after the primary that Mike Rogers tried to tie Abdul El-Said to alleged comments that Hassan Piker had made about 9-11, which which is really coded Islamophobia. It's basically don't vote for the Muslim guy.
Starting point is 01:12:38 So they're going to be half the campaign is going to be like, hey, Democrats, you're welcome here in the Rogers campaign. And the rest of Michigan don't vote for the terrorist. Like that's what the argument is going to be. It's disgusting. It's despicable. But that's their playbook. I just think I can't get beyond the idea that when looking at these polls, I don't see a situation where the Democratic base does not consolidate in a real way. as Abdul El-Said and the Democratic Party makes the case, at least most of the Democratic Party,
Starting point is 01:13:11 not the corporate Dems, but most of the Democratic Party makes the case that Mike Rogers is a rubber stamp for Trump. I just, it's hard for me to believe that Mike Rogers is going to get 20 or 25% of the Democratic vote in a year like 2026 in a midterm election with a Republican president. I mean, crazier things have happened, but I just, it's hard for me to see that. Yeah, I've got that at no way. So look, I don't want to be overconfident, but I'd be really surprised if Abdul didn't win. So, and I'll tell you why, just to back out what David's saying, last thought here. So number one, oh, he's a Muslim, so he's a terrorist. Yeah, but people who think like that, we're never going to vote for Abdullah al-Said anyway, right?
Starting point is 01:13:55 And they're almost all Republicans. So, wow. Okay, oh, we're going to pick up the pro-Israel vote. 63% of Jewish Americans are against the current Israeli government. Mamdani is more popular than Netanyahu with Jewish Americans. So you're gonna pick up a fraction of a fraction of those voters of Michigan. Good luck with that strategy. I just don't think there's enough votes there.
Starting point is 01:14:18 And then, oh, one of their favorite talking points is that Abdul al-Assai is not doing great with black voters. No, that's because of all the money that was spent in the ads and there's a million reasons why. But are they really saying that black voters in Detroit are gonna be like, I'm voting for the MAGA guy. I really want to support Donald Trump against this Abdul al-Said. I am concerned about him. Yeah, I just- Come on, come on, who thinks that?
Starting point is 01:14:41 I just don't buy it. Yeah, I don't, look, but David, I don't think anyone buys it. That's why I'm furious at Enten and CNN and all those outlets for pretending that black voters aren't gonna come back and vote for the Democratic nominee against the Trump endorsed super mega Republican. I mean, Enten knows better than that. He knows. So that's, I mean, it's fundamentally deceptive. Let's be fair about one thing. Let's be fair about, I mean, Donald Trump did increase his margins in 2024 among certain segments of the, of the black, of black voters. He did increase his margins above where Republican presidents typically have, have increased.
Starting point is 01:15:22 But Mike Rogers running in the same election in Michigan, where Mike Rogers was such a weak candidate, that he trailed Donald Trump in Michigan, which is really hard to do. Mike Rogers didn't show any kind of increased performance in that, among those demographics. Right, like Mike Rogers is, at least based on the last election, is an incredibly weak candidate. I mean, here's the thing, the last election in 2024, Alyssa Slotkin, an incredibly weak Democrat, right?
Starting point is 01:15:50 Alyssa Slotkin found a way to get fewer votes in Michigan than Kamala Harris did. I mean, you've really got to work hard, but somehow, Mike Rogers topped her, managed to get even fewer votes than Donald Trump in Michigan. I mean, you like, so the, the 2024 election in Michigan featured two really incredibly weak candidates. So I don't buy the idea that Mike Rogers is somehow a sort of super candidate at all. Now, again, I want to, let's be clear, we could be wrong, right? Like maybe, maybe we're not considering something. Maybe there's something's going to have changed.
Starting point is 01:16:25 Maybe Mike Rogers runs this sort of genius or somehow. gets away with portraying himself as some kind of moderate and not a Trump guy. We just have never seen that. So again, it's it's hard to predict, but I think the one thing we can assume, I think, or at least if not predict, then we can, that is probably likely is that there will be a serious consolidation among Democratic rank and file Democratic voters. Like I do not see a large vote among the black community in Detroit for Mike Rogers. Like I just, I do not see that. Yeah, that's just totally made up.
Starting point is 01:17:02 But hey, Harry can't find the negative numbers on Rogers. I'm sure he'll run it after November. Okay, you know what, I'll go farther than you. This is absurd and he's not going to take it. And this is good. But it'll be painful. I don't know about him, but for me, if I lose. I'm offering Harry Anten a $1,000 bet.
Starting point is 01:17:21 I say Abdul El-Said wins. I'm sure he'll say, oh, Mike, I mean, he said El-Said is the worst candidate in a century. Like incredibly weak, he's down in the bottom of the Lake Michigan. So you take Mike Rogers, Harry, I'll take Abdul, $1,000 bet. It probably won't even hurt you, but it'll, you'll get to celebrate even more. Ah, yes, yes, the corporate Republican won. We defeated Abdul, I'll say that dirty, progressive. Ah, yes, and I got $1,000 from Jank Yugar.
Starting point is 01:17:49 God, that's gonna be, you're gonna be ecstatic on election night. Come on, let's make the bet, see how it turns out. I think that I could read polls better than you can. I think that the underlying numbers are clearly showing that Abdul is going to win, even though currently he's not winning. So that's a bold bet, right? For you, it's an easy one, right, Harry? It's a layup, worst candidate of the century.
Starting point is 01:18:10 I mean, how do you turn down a $3,000? Come on, let's do it. I guarantee you he won't, he'll come up with excuses, or probably won't even respond because, oh no, I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar. I pretended that this was an incredibly weak candidate to try to hurt the candidate, and I got caught. Okay, yeah, that's what's gonna happen. All right, everybody check out David Sarota at the lever. They do fantastic work, real journalism. You know, I complain about mainstream media all the time, and then some people say, oh, well, you don't like journalism? No, I love
Starting point is 01:18:41 journalism. I love objective journalism. That's what they do at the lever. And so if we didn't have that and some of the other great independent outlets, we'd be so starved for the truth. You have to constantly wade through the corporate propaganda to get the nuggets of facts. You don't have to do that at the lever. So David, thank you, brother. We appreciate it. Thanks, Jake. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. All right, when we come back, Ben Shapiro versus Tucker Carlson, it just got nuclear.
Starting point is 01:19:09 So we'll show you all the bloodbath, political, rhetorical bloodbath back and forth when we return. If I can change, everybody can change. What contributions to the progressive cause are you most proud of? I mean, I don't have super high aspirations for a singular role that I can play in the movement or anything. I just, I try to present myself as what I think that I am, which is a progressive man who is driven by a, I think, well-interrogated and well-organized system of values that I try to stay consistent on. And I demonstrate that that's the sort of life that a person can lead. and be successful and be happy and all of that. And that should not need to be done,
Starting point is 01:19:56 but there are so many people on the right that are trying to push men in the opposite direction that I want to be able to do that. Along the way, if I can get people to care about some topics that they wouldn't necessarily care about, or that for some men, they might think that's not a topic that they should be focused on, that's definitely something that I relish doing.
Starting point is 01:20:14 And along the way, I mean, we've been able to introduce people to a lot of candidates. That's been a big part of what we've done. You know, not all of them necessarily got in office. Probably most of them did not. And a lot of them, you might not even remember their names. But it was great to be able to provide people the platform where they had the chance of,
Starting point is 01:20:33 you know, making a difference. Obviously, AOC and all that. But there's been a lot of great people along the way. When Westcham first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different. People thought denim on denim was peak fashion, inline skates were everywhere, and two out of three women rocked the Rachel. While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when WestJet welcomes you on board. Here's to Westjetting since 96.

Starting point is 01:21:55 You know, my CNN and my MSNBC and even Fox and any of the other shows, MPR. They are so quick to decide that they know what this building means today. The one thing that I hate that politicians do, you know, they talk about the people they should be talking to. Do they have any idea that they're their establishment and that they're hated? Or do they not realize that at all? People are so deeply in their little universe. I think it's very easy to not really question what you're doing. Voters have a right to ask questions of any nominee, whether they're independent, Republican, or Democrat.
Starting point is 01:22:29 system is doopoly that suppresses competition. How is it the year 2024? And we're still like, maybe they'll talk about paid medical. How is that like at one level, it's like, good, what we're talking about. And you're like, it's 2024. And that's always been the critique, that your critique of us is, well, you guys give good speeches, you put out good tweets, but you're not wielding actual power. Now we're starting to. My favorite news platform by far, it's not even close. It's not a country and a principle. And that's what you and I both work to achieve. And I'm so at least half the battle has now been one. Starting point is 01:24:43 I love this community. Way to stick together. And thank you for caring about honest, independent reporting. Let's do our next story. So Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro are in a nuclear fight. They just took it to a whole new level and we're going to show you all the clips. They're fighting over who's the average guy and who's the elite. And we have our thoughts on that.
Starting point is 01:25:06 We're going to ask you a poll question about it. But Ben Shapiro says that Tucker Carlson wants to turn this into an agrarian feudal state and somehow supports Muslim terrorists or something. Of course, of course. So both Ben Shapiro and Tucker on Wednesday published videos attacking each other, including Ben Shapiro attacking Tucker first on his interview with Hunter Biden. So let's watch that. Tucker Carlson, Hunter Biden, the besties with testes from way back when,
Starting point is 01:25:42 who definitely are not 100% part of some kind of establishment deep state uniparty in D.C. and are also definitely not from wealthy families and are now fomenting idiotic revolution from behind their podcast microphones. Hunter Biden and Tucker Carlson's recent podcast together is two spoiled brat saying spoiled brat things. Tucker and Hunter are in the same world. Remember, Tucker is the man of the people.
Starting point is 01:26:03 He's flannel-clad main boy. He's just sitting over there in his cabin, doing some hunting and fishing. Except for the fact that Tucker Carlson is a silver spoon jacket who vacations in yachts on the Mediterranean and has known Hunter Biden for decades. AIDS and his friends with him. If you are so stupid that you believe the people who stand for you
Starting point is 01:26:20 are rich boy, richy rich, like grew up rich, rich, rich boy Tucker Carlson at his Swiss boarding school living in a fake cabin in Maine with the Gaston Chandelier talking to Hunter Biden, longtime drug addict and complete piece of shit about how America needs them and their human hearts, along with that of Candace Owens to fix what ails the country. Oh my God, man. Okay, so we're gonna get to Tucker's response and then I'm gonna show you real wealth that's backing Ben Shapiro. But first, before I do any of that, Elliot, let me bring you in. So far, how do you score this one?
Starting point is 01:26:59 Was that one persuasive on why we should hate Tucker Cross? No, not at all. I actually, I have a little bit of a pet beef when folks are like, well, actually they grew up rich, so therefore all of their opinions are wrong. Like if you or if your opinion is that, for example, we should give you people, I don't know, healthcare or make sure they can actually access education. I personally don't really care. It's like when they go after Bernie and they go, oh, he owns this many houses, therefore
Starting point is 01:27:27 he must be insincere. And I think you can have money and also want the government to spend it on its people. And I don't think there's any contradiction there. And I don't think that Ben's audience is necessarily gonna buy it either. But I don't know if they have yet. Yeah, well, FDR was very wealthy and they considered him a trader to his class. And he said, I welcome their hatred. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:47 Right. And so now, of course, and by the way, Tucker is heir to the Swanson fortune. And he did make a lot of money at Fox News. That's true. Ben Shapiro also incredibly wealthy, grew up in a wealthy family. So if you apply his logic, we shouldn't listen to anything he says either. Which, by the way, maybe I may take that deal. Right?
Starting point is 01:28:10 But I don't think that's how it works. So, okay, Tucker is going to fire back. Let's watch. If people across the country of all parties are saying grocery prices are insane, then you should probably think long and hard about what to do about that if you can. And there's no poll taken in the last year that shows that people are more concerned about the Iranian nuclear program or Islamic jihad or some Muslim group far away than they are about the price of Skippy peanut butter.
Starting point is 01:28:37 So the whole point of Ben Shapiro, and there is a point to Ben Shapiro, this is not like some organic phenomenon, like Ben Shapiro was just so charming and brilliant that he somehow got into Harvard Law School and then eyebrows and all emerged as a social media titan. No, of course not. Ben Shapiro had a deal with Facebook, a deal no one else got from day one. The point was Ben Shapiro was going to sell this very specific version of economics, not capitalism. There's no resemblance to anything Adam Smith advocated for,
Starting point is 01:29:10 but the kind of modern American monopoly arrangement where, There are six countries, companies can behave like countries, have sovereignty, unlike our own nation, and control every part of your life through debt, which is kind of broad but fairly accurate definition of our current economic system. So I'll give you my thoughts on that, how I scored that one, and then I'm going to back out one thing that Tucker said with facts. So first, on what do Americans care more about, jihadists or skipper, Kippy peanut butter, i.e. prices, that's a landslide.
Starting point is 01:29:50 They care a lot more about prices, and the polling shows that. Plus, they've never seen a jihadist in their life other than Fox News say, look at this scary Muslim dude, who lives 2,800 miles away from you, has no way of reaching you, but Israel would like us to kill him. Are you more concerned about that, or gas prices that you can't pay and a mortgage you can't pay. And Ben Shapiro was like, no, well, obviously the jihadist, Israel has to kill him. Give me your money to kill that guy, okay?
Starting point is 01:30:20 That's the most important thing. Well, the polling indicates that people support Tucker Carlson's position about a thousand times more than they support Ben Shapiro's position on that issue. Then Tucker implied that Shapiro didn't get into Harvard on his own, I'd be very surprised by that. He's relatively bright guy, seems to have done well academically. Harvard's not easy to get into, even if you bribe people, although the Kushners, I think they came two million dollars, and then all of a sudden Jared and Josh, who are not stellar
Starting point is 01:30:53 students, did get into Harvard. So that does happen from time to time, but I don't, I'd be surprised if that applied to Ben Shapiro. Secondly, he said something about how his eyebrows surprisingly didn't hold him back in media. Well, from the eyebrow community, I have to say, thick eyebrow community. I say that hasn't helped me back much either, so I don't think that's right. But in terms of being backed by wealthy benefactors, that's the one, Elliot, that they took the most umbrage.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Like, how dare you suggest that somebody might be helping Ben Shapiro for propaganda purposes? So let me go to The Guardian and let's find out if that type of thing happens. Okay? So two billionaire Texas brothers, they explain, whose fortunes derived from oil and gas fracking, have pumped millions of dollars into right wing media outfits that have promoted climate crisis denialism and set more big checks to back an array of evangelical projects and conservative Texas politicians. So this is from a while back when they were first forming the daily wire and Prager U, etc. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. This is the one group that they know for a fact.
Starting point is 01:32:09 There are many other benefactors just like this, but let me give you more details on it. The two brothers have given at least $8 million to Prager Yu, which is unaccredited, according to the Texas financial records. In July, Florida approved the use of what Prager You is called its edutainment videos and other materials for use in his classrooms. And Prager You has said it is trying to get other states, including Texas, to do likewise. Well, how about Daily Wire and Benchapiro? Well, in 2015, Ferris Wilkes gave $4.7 million to launch the Daily Wire.
Starting point is 01:32:43 and remains an owner of the media company whose founding editor and co-owner, Ben Shapiro, has forged ties with Dennis Prager, the Prager You founder and talk show hosts. Shapiro and Prager are slated to attend a Prager Youth Founders' retreat in September for donors who give at least $100,000 a year. I'm sure none of them are wealthy or grew up wealthy. I mean, otherwise we'd have to discount all their opinions that Ben Shapiro is puppeting because he's getting paid this money. And some of them are apparently investors, but you saw there, some of them are just donors.
Starting point is 01:33:17 So they're just like here, we give you this money, and then you say what we want. You say, hey, puppet man, say drill, baby drill. And other donors say Israel is the greatest, kill all the Muslims, right? And other donors want other parts. How many of them have bought a piece of Ben Shapiro? We don't know, but this brother complaining about wealth, is hilarious. And then is the is truck is, is, um,
Starting point is 01:33:46 Dr. Carlson saying the truth about how he has wealthy benefactors. Indisputably, 100% empirically correct. And I have a personal story that I'll share with you guys in a second about that. But I was one last thing not related to Shapiro, but I wanted you to know from that same guardian article. They explained historically the two brothers have also backed a number of right wing Texas Republicans, including Senator Ted Cruz, whose a board of run for president in 2016 was bolstered by $15 million they gave to a pro-cruz super PAC.
Starting point is 01:34:19 So, Elliot, it's not just right-wing media, it's mainstream media pretending that Tucker Carlson is some sort of lunatic for saying that there might be tons of money going into media outlets like Daily Wire to get back a message that is pro fracking or pro Israel. Isn't that like media and politics these days 101? I mean, how brazen a liar are in corporate media that they cover the tracks of Ben Shapiro on this? Yeah, it's one of maybe the least surprising stories, I would say, because, I mean, this is nothing new. It was ExxonMobil's own scientists that they sent out all over the world. and they came back and said, yep, according to the data, the planet's heating up and it's due to the burning of fossil fuels.
Starting point is 01:35:05 And then Exxon fired those scientists and they ended the research and they unleashed a massive propaganda campaign, even using some of the same people that tried to convince Americans that there was no link between cigarettes and lung cancer earlier in the 20th century, which later led to the tobacco industry having to pay tons and tons of money. And then even throughout the 20th century, there were multiple what are called persuasion vehicles. And they didn't really take off until after the Second World War with the combination of mass media and then insights from like psychology and advertising. And throughout the 20th century, they pelted the nation, literally billions of messages specifically designed to turn people away from the idea that the government could help its own citizens via domestic economic programs. And so they would put in advertorials, which are basically made to look like actual articles, but they are bought and paid for. So this is like a tale as old as time.
Starting point is 01:35:58 The idea that everyone's going, no, this is absolutely incontradable. It's a little ridiculous, I think. Yeah, so I'm gonna tell you my personal story where I know Ben Shapiro's got benefactors. And I'm gonna give you his closing statement in a second. But I wonder if they workshop this where they're like, okay, now look, if they're opposed to funding Israel, we'll call them anti-Semites and try to destroy their lives, their careers, and make sure that they are destitute for the rest of their lives and are hated by everyone. So here's a bunch of money to do that, Ben.
Starting point is 01:36:25 Okay, the fracking guys are like, all right, let's workshop this. How about we call them anti-sammites? Let's call them anti-fragites and then try to destroy their careers and they're biased against fracking and they're being racist against fracking. Okay, and these bigots against natural gas. Come on, right? Maybe that one didn't work as well. So they landed on drill baby drill. And the reason I read you the Ted Cruz part is you see how it's all coordinated.
Starting point is 01:36:52 Same guys giving money to the politicians and the meat. So we need the politicians to go in there and vote in our favor, and we need the media to trick people into voting for them. So that's why if I'm gonna finance Ted Cruz, I have to finance Ben Shapiro and the propaganda that'll help Ted Cruz and Donald Trump win. And that's how this game is played. And part of the reason that they're pissed at Tucker is let's keep it real, and he keeps it real on this.
Starting point is 01:37:16 He was part of that operation at Fox News, and he has apologized for it. So there is a well-oiled propaganda machine. Now Tucker is broken off from that and there's still positions we don't agree on for sure, but now there are positions we do agree on because he's starting to become more honest and and not affected by all the money that's pouring in to do propaganda. Now he's getting his money from the audience. So now all of a sudden the rest of that propaganda machine is irate. Because to them Tucker is not just opposed to what they're saying, he's exposing the game.
Starting point is 01:37:52 And they view him as a traitor. So I mean, what does it say about Ben Shapiro that, you know, Tucker Carlson came from all of this money, and yet he somehow has a better grasp on where Americans are at with affordability than Ben Shapiro? Like what's going on that this guy who, I guess you should completely discount because he had a silver spoon, is somehow able to pick up on the fact that people aren't happy with where things are right now. And then you have Ben Shapiro going, actually, no, it's your fault that you can't afford a burrito or whatever. Yeah, and in fact, that's actually split all the conservatives because now Matt Walsh, who works for Ben Shapiro, Benny Johnson and Jack Vasobiac are on the side of maybe a $20 burrito is not a good idea.
Starting point is 01:38:31 Maybe we should try to at least fake helping people, right? Instead of just constantly yelling at them and say, shut up and pay for whatever the burrito costs and like it, okay? Give me more money. And of course, on the other side, Ben Shapiro, Mark Levine and Mark Theson, all saying affordability not that big a deal. Oh, look at that there. every one of them is for the war and Israel first. They think the money should be directed to the war instead. Huh, what a coincidence.
Starting point is 01:38:59 All right, let's let Ben make the closing argument. Tucker Carlson was shouting at the walls of his cosplay cabin in Maine about boy slop and burritos and Israeli influence operations. Alp does a body good. Because there is actually a metric ton of anti-American slot being shovel fed to all of us these days. I want to do something slightly different today. I want to talk about the actual American dream.
Starting point is 01:39:23 I know we are all supposed to be demoralized and upset. And we're all supposed to believe and claim that no one anymore has any shot at getting ahead in America, that the American dream is dead, that we need something brand new, by which most people mean some idea that was tried centuries ago, four centuries, and then fail, like over and over and over. And most of those bad ideas revolve around a very, very basic failed idea that people are addicted to that there ought to be a special cadre of elite people who directs the economy toward their specific end. That your individual freedoms are actually destructive, that you ought to have your choices
Starting point is 01:39:59 circumscribe so that they can build whatever it is they want to build. For Hassan Piker, total economic leveling in poverty. For Zarn Mamdani, third world descendancy and American weakness. For Tucker Carlson, an agrarian feudal state. For the Muslim Brotherhood, Dar al-Islam. That is amazing, man. Did you catch that where he said there's a small group of wealthy interests that redirect the government to do their own interests rather than the public's? Brother, you just described APEC.
Starting point is 01:40:32 And the Wilkes brothers in the oil and gas industry and big forma and everyone who bribes Congress. It's not complicated. Is the Muslim Brotherhood giving a lot of money to Congress? Zero dollars. They're not even here. They used to be in Egypt. And then they got taken out in Egypt. Okay, the Muslim Brotherhood?
Starting point is 01:40:56 Does anybody see the Muslim Brotherhood like getting the congressman to say, no, remember everybody, Muslim Brotherhood is fantastic. We've got to spend, oh, send all your money to Muslims, and especially about Muslim fundamentalists. I've seen zero people do that in American media, in American politics. I do see every politician going out there. Israel.
Starting point is 01:41:18 I see Israel in my dreams. I came here to serve Israel. Right? Gee, I wonder who the wealthy folks are that are redirecting our country to help their interests. So, and oh yeah, Tucker is foregoing back to agrarian feudalism.
Starting point is 01:41:37 Oh yeah, I'll tell you, The agrarian feudalists have so much power in this country. What? Okay, what a lunatic thing. So, Elliot, my personal story is Ben and I had the same agent a while back. And so we go in, and I've never told a story before, okay? And they're super excited. They're like, oh, Ben gets paid a lot for the college speeches.
Starting point is 01:42:02 And he's the right wing thing, and you're the left wing. So we'll make money here. Agents want to make money? Good. Good agents, right? And I'm more like, okay, sure, yeah, that sounds good. And we'd like to get our message out to all these colleges, so that's a win-win, right? Come back a month later, we're like, what happened?
Starting point is 01:42:19 Where's all the speeches? They're like, yeah, so it turns out that those are, the money for that is being paid by wealthy benefactors. And they're arranging the speeches and paying for them. And they don't want to arrange speeches for you, and they don't want to pay you. Yeah. Huh. Hmm. Oh, but I'm sure it's conspiratorial and wildly outrageous that people would suggest this. Come on, man. Like you don't, like anyone pretending to not know that they're incredibly wealthy corporations and other folks who are paying off media and politicians to get exactly what they want. If you're a reporter or a journalist and you're pretending
Starting point is 01:43:01 that that isn't real, I got bad news for you. You're not a reporter or a journalist. You're propagandists for those same wealthy elites. So Elliot. Yeah, I mean, also there's 12,000 lobbyists in Washington, D.C. And they're all acting on behalf of other rich people's interests at the expense of the American people who elected these folks. That said, I will say agrarian feudalism from the Muslim Brotherhood does sound kind of cool. So Ben Shapiro's got that going for him, I guess. Yeah, how would that work?
Starting point is 01:43:32 Okay, the Muslim Brotherhood takes all over all the farms. Absolutely. And you know what, the giant corporations that own them now, they're gonna be like, oh, just go ahead, yeah, take it. Yeah, they love that. Yeah, because Muslims in this country have so much, but they say this with a straight face. Yeah, no, the people supporting Israel don't have any power in this country. They're the poor little victims.
Starting point is 01:43:50 But the Muslims, oh my God, the power and the wealth that they have, and they've been pushing people around this whole time. That's why we live under Sharia law. That's why we've spent $300 billion? Oh no, that was the Israel. That's why we started eight, seven wars that cost us $8 trillion to help them. Bro. Oh no, that was also Israel.
Starting point is 01:44:11 Okay, so whether you think Tucker Carlson won or not, there's no question Ben Shapiro lost. And by the way, the audience agrees. So we asked you guys if you had to support one or the other on t.yt.com. If you're forced to so far, 100% to Tucker Carlson. Although to be fair, it just got started. You could also see that on our YouTube channel under post. I encourage you guys to vote there or on t.yt.com, but that's the left wing audience. The right wing audience has already voted.
Starting point is 01:44:40 Ben Shapiro's audience is down to near zero, and Tucker Carlson is the most popular right wing host in the country. That might have settled it. All right, when we come back, we have more news for you guys, including Trump and Hegseth clowning themselves. We'll be right back. Besties with testes. During the social break here.
Starting point is 01:45:27 All right, first of all, I want to give a big shout-out. to Norma who works here. It's her 10 year anniversary. She's a graphic artist. She started in August 15th of 2016. She supported every aspect of the work at this network, show packages, shop products, social post marketing materials, and she's an absolute pleasure to work with the entire time spreading kindness in line and everything she does. You're familiar with a whole bunch of her designs. And certainly if you listen to us on Apple or Spotify, you've definitely seen our work. Norma designs those graphics with so much intention, creativity and impact.
Starting point is 01:46:07 And it has been an absolute pleasure to work with for the last decade. And really, Norma, you're amazing. It's been as good as it can be to work with you for the last 10 years. I love the folks who work here and who put so much hard work and effort. into bringing you the product that you see on air. So thank you so much, Norma, from the bottom of all. Okay, so now with a little bit of time, we have left. Let me read a couple more comments for you guys.
Starting point is 01:46:37 So Peters, 1947, says the U.S. is a quasi-socialist country. Medicaid and Social Security are products of socialism. And with a gal says the variety this week has been exceptional, Jenk. Thank you for saying that. And Tonyicus 1 says love TYT. We love you right back. We'll have more in the bonus episode for you guys. Testes with testes.
Starting point is 01:47:17 All right, back on TYT, Jank and Elliot with you guys. And this is the time where we try to save you guys some money. So if you haven't switched your cell phone service yet, I swear to you, there's no reason not to. I already did it months ago. I've saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars already. TYT.com slash switch. It's T-Mobile's 5G systems, so your cell phone service is great, maybe the best in the country. And nothing on your phone changes.
Starting point is 01:47:42 You get to keep it, you get to keep your number. And now they've got a new deal. First month is only $10. Max you can pay is 50. If you're paying over 50, honestly, you're a bit of a sucker. I love you. There's probably a good reason why you're not switching. And there's friction and I worried about switching to.
Starting point is 01:47:57 It took me 10 minutes. And I'm so happy I did it. Please save yourself money. But you never pay 50 anyway. They give you money back if you don't use your data. And so I always pay in the 30s, but the first month is only $10 if you act now. TYT.com slash switch, tyt.com slash switch. All right, so now let's go to our next story.
Starting point is 01:48:19 Donald Trump is ordering the Navy to replace some of their newer, better products with older, crappier ones. Why? Actually, the reason it turns out to be both hilarious and disastrous. This guy is a child. Now we're gonna tell you how much this is costing us and why he did it. Elliot tells the story. Yeah, so on Thursday, President Trump issued a directive to have the U.S. Navy
Starting point is 01:48:45 removed the advanced system used to launch fighter jets from its newest kind of aircraft carrier and replace it with older steam catapults. This could reportedly cost millions, if not billions of dollars and result in a system that takes more sailors to operate, and it's all more difficult to maintain. So why is this happening? Well, he really likes the steam catapults and he's been talking about him as far back as 2017 when he told time about an interaction he had with one sailor. You know the catapult is quite important. So I said, what is this?
Starting point is 01:49:18 Sir, this is our digital catapult system. He said, well, we're going to this because we wanted to keep up with modern technology. I said, you don't use steam anymore for catapult? No, sir. I said, ah, how's it working? Sir, not good, not good, doesn't have the power. You know, the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steam's going all over the place.
Starting point is 01:49:35 There's planes thrown in the air. It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it's very complicated. You have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said, and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers.
Starting point is 01:49:48 I said, what system are you going to be? Sir, we're staying with digital. I said, no, you're not. You're going to be GD steam. The digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it's no good. So in contrast to the steam catapults, the electromagnetic aircraft. launch system, otherwise known as emails, launches aircraft at faster speeds. It also allows for quieter and cooler work and living conditions for our sailors.
Starting point is 01:50:11 They're easier to maintain and therefore cheaper in the long term. And on the USS Ford, it also reduced the number of sailors needed to operate the catapults from 12 down to two. That last part is also especially important right now because the Navy is actually struggling to actually get sailors on the ships, despite the fact that they've had some successes in recruiting lately at the top of the the year, there are about 20,000 positions that they were trying to fill. The first ship that will undergo these changes is the USS Doris Miller, which is the fourth Ford Class
Starting point is 01:50:42 carrier. That happens to also at this time already be two months behind schedule. But General Atomics, the company that makes the electromagnetic system, says it's already about half finished and that changing course now would introduce significant cost, schedule, and integration risks. Also, it is not just the catapults that is returning to the steam age. The U.S. will also scrap advanced weapons elevators installed on the Ford class carriers and replace them with hydraulic systems. Trump said, AWA's bring bombs, missiles, and other weapons up from storage to the flight deck.
Starting point is 01:51:18 The memorandum also said the Navy will be able to utilize a small number of vessels made overseas with U.S. shipyards unable to keep pace with current orders and planned projects falling behind. China for its part uses the new electromagnetic system on their newest operational carrier. France is still using the old steam catapults but plans to transition to the electromagnetic version in future iterations of their carriers. So apparently Donald Trump heard something one time nine years ago in 2017 and it's stuck in his head and now they're going to stall construction on this, rip out a system and it's gonna cost taxpayers a lot of money, it's gonna delay the construction.
Starting point is 01:52:00 And who knows what else is gonna happen? So, Jank, what are your thoughts? This is a lot of amazing parts of the story. So first of all, the Chinese now are going to have a competitive advantage over us because they're using the newer system and we have purposely chosen to go backwards. So we've given up the advantage we originally had. Secondly, it's going to cost billions on top of billions, totally unnecessary. At best, it would be a tie between the two systems, but it's not.
Starting point is 01:52:26 Why is it not a tie? There's a million problems that go wrong in the steam one. That's why it was replaced. It requires a lot more pipes. And so when you have so many pipes in the ship, there's different opportunities for it to break down. Now does Trump know that level of detail? Of course not, because he's a child. You heard a sailor say, well, I like how it's powerful to steam.
Starting point is 01:52:46 He goes, oh yeah, I like power. It's a catapult, yeah, right? He probably thinks it's like an old Roman catapult, you know, and he's probably picturing How did they fit the catapult on top of the aircraft carrier? Oh, thank you all right. And so another interesting part of it is that the Pentagon ignored him for six years, four years in his first term, two years in this one. And then normally he forgets.
Starting point is 01:53:09 So that's what like if you remember in his first term, he asked them to 10x our nuclear weapon supply. And that's what Secretary of State Rex Tillerson back then walked out of the meeting and said, What an effing moron, because that would cost more money than our GDP. Like it would bankrupt the country completely, that is massively expensive. So instead of trying to explain it to Trump over and over, they're just like, oh, let's just ignore him. And he totally forgot about it.
Starting point is 01:53:38 And that's happened many times, right? Now if you're in the right wing, you're gonna be mad about that. And I get that, they shouldn't ignore the president, right? Unless the president's a frickin' child. And he's like, no, I want new toys. I want 10 times the nukes. What are we gonna do with 10 times the nukes? So in this case, they did the same thing, they're like, why would we waste tens of billions
Starting point is 01:53:59 of dollars going back to a crappier system? Just ignore the child, right? And they did. But unfortunately in this case, he came back and he's like, no, I remember this one. I like catapults on the aircraft carriers, that's gonna look super cool, but how do you get the flaming rocks on it? Okay, so look, I'm kidding about the catapult stuff. He didn't say any of that.
Starting point is 01:54:18 But yeah, there's just no justification for that. this other than him talking to one sailor. Yeah, and one sailor nine years ago. Like my understanding is when they started to unveil the electromagnetic system, it took a second for them to figure it out, but it has been nine years and it turns out they did figure it out. Also it uses less room on the ship and also that point where it allows for quieter and cooler work and living spaces for sailors, seems like a pretty good thing right now,
Starting point is 01:54:44 given all the reports we're hearing about what's going on on those ships. And so it seems like another example of Trump just not thinking about the people that are actually doing these things and the workers and the sailors and the service members and instead going, hey, I have an idea and we're gonna do it. I also really don't understand why you would switch out the other one, the AWE, for a hydraulic system. And I don't know, I don't know if he's talking to someone who maybe makes those and it's beneficial, but there was a report this week that Trump is also, his aides are very frustrated because
Starting point is 01:55:15 they're finding out that when they leave for the evening, other folks are calling Trump late at night to essentially whisper in his ear. And so they're coming back the next morning and finding out that there's a whole new plan in motion. And so this apparently is a pattern of behavior where if you just get in front of Trump and say whatever you want, you can convince him of pretty much anything. And I'm not entirely sure that's who we want with these nuclear codes or 10 times the amount of nuclear codes.
Starting point is 01:55:39 Yeah. Look, last thing is to back up this child point. So he's like, wind, I don't like wind, okay? The wind energy bad. Because they once tried to put windmills around his golf course in Scotland. So that really, he caught feelings over that. So he's been saying, wind gives you cancer. But steam, I like steam.
Starting point is 01:55:58 I don't like wind. I like steam. Let's use steam catapults. Okay. We have to like change our entire policies, including how we defend the country, waste billions of dollars based on this guy's absurd beliefs. Do you know why he doesn't exercise? He says that if you exercise, you have a limited.
Starting point is 01:56:18 amount of energy in your life and the more you use that energy exercising, the quicker you'll die. This guy's our president. Okay, so obviously you're gonna get disastrous decisions like this. All right, in the time we have left, we're gonna do one more story. Let's do it. That's completely misrepresented. Listen, we make sure that every ship, every crew, every captain has everything we can provide
Starting point is 01:56:45 them at every single moment. Some deployments are longer than others, and I have more. respect and gratitude for those sailors than anybody. What they do in those high seas and those austere conditions with less port calls, it's incredible. Americans don't understand what it's like to do that. So as someone who's been not been on a ship like that, but been on long deployments, I feel it. So Hags is obviously lying there.
Starting point is 01:57:14 The sailors from the USS Abraham Lincoln are talking about disastrous conditions. But at least he bothered to pretend to care. So that was nice at the end. Trump, not as much. Let's watch. No, that ship is moving. No, they're not. That ship is moving right now or very shortly.
Starting point is 01:57:38 And it's being replaced with another very similar ship. No, no, no, not nearly long enough. Wow. First he said they were lying. He said, no, that's not happening. And then at the end there, he said they haven't been out there nearly long enough. So apparently Miriam's war, our war against Iran on behalf of Israel, is going to last a lot longer, and those sailors are going to have to suffer a lot longer.
Starting point is 01:58:05 And Trump pretty much bragging about it. So Elliot's got the rest of the story. Yeah, so we covered what it's like on board these ships earlier this week. But here's a quick refresher. So Annabel Loma is the wife of a sailor who's deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln. And this is what she told the Navy Times. Loma said her husband had been repeatedly overextended before he tried to jump from the carrier. He's scared.
Starting point is 01:58:27 He thinks he'll get a dishonorable discharge and just because he was burnt out. His 13 year career is ruined just like that. It's not fair. That's not what you should be worried about right now. Loma has since claimed that the Navy tried to cover up what happened. I think that it was handled very poorly because they didn't inform me and they didn't want me to know and they're just trying to cover this up. So if you think that's bad, it also gets worse.
Starting point is 01:58:49 There are statements from an anonymous sailor on board the ship, according to Midas Touch. This deployment is the worst one, and I pray no other boat goes through the same. Even the people that have been deployed a hundred times claim this is one of the worst and believe it can get worse than this. The Navy does not care. The mission will always come first. We haven't had anything fresh but meat because it's freeze. Sometimes it gets here rotten.
Starting point is 01:59:12 Sadly, sailors on other ships are also experiencing similar conditions. Here's another statement reported by Midas Touch. Hi, Aaron, I tried to message on Instagram, but I kept receiving an air message. My brother and his fiancee are both in the Navy, and I can confirm what you have been reporting. His fiance is on the USS George H.W. Bush, not Lincoln, and was recently back in the US for a family emergency, so we were able to talk to her. She told us how they have virtually no food, water, or soap. They've been out at sea for 136 days with no end in sight.
Starting point is 01:59:41 Morale is low and everyone is miserable. It's heartbreaking. Thank you for continuing to report and get the word out there. people need to know what is happening. So thankfully, we do have some good news, evidently. It's been confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln will be replaced by another ship. So those sailors will get to go home. Jank, any thoughts currently?
Starting point is 02:00:01 Yeah, they're supposed to go home in May. It's August now, I think the other ship's gonna get there around October. So a lot more suffering ahead. Look, Trump saying it's no big deal kind of rubbing in people's face, usual Trump just never care. Earlier in the show we showed him talking about gas prices and said he didn't care. Housing prices, that one he does care about. He wants them to be higher, he said. Why?
Starting point is 02:00:26 Because he owns a bunch of homes. Really great. Yeah, that's great. But Elliot, like, we're overextending them, no question. They said, there's a couple of reasons why. They said it was going to last four to five weeks this war. Here we are six months in, so no accountability from Trump on that. They didn't plan right, that's Hegseth, of course.
Starting point is 02:00:46 Right? And they believe the Israelis that it was going to be easy. That's absurd. That's Trump. So every part of this is their fault. But this is also true in every war where they say, oh, support the troops. And then they didn't prepare them for IEDs in Iraq. We didn't have the armored Humvees. And then Romsfeld said, well, you go to war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had. So all those folks who lost legs and arms and had traumatic brain injuries, now our sailors are suffering. And then of course finally the last part of it is we shouldn't even be in the war in the first place The USS Abraham Lincoln shouldn't be there if we have zero American interest Trump has even now admitted to insiders that we might leave without getting any nuclear deal Because we never had an interest there in the first place
Starting point is 02:01:30 But Miriam Aidelson wanted a war so here we are Yeah, also yesterday Pete Heggzith did confirm I guess what many Americans have been saying and been worried about and what Jank was pointing to the US government is Evidently preparing for a forever war with Iran. The U.S. military has enough assets to maintain a naval blockade of Iran indefinitely, Defense Secretary Pete Hexas said on Thursday, indefinitely the United States Navy can maintain a blockade like that because we'll rotate ships in and out as we have and will continue to. And yeah, as Jenks stated, when they started this, they said it would last just four to six weeks.
Starting point is 02:02:04 And a lot of other people said, no, it's going to be another forever war. And it seems like we're finding out which side was correct. Yes. And when you say, you might, this war might last indefinitely, you're gonna lose a lot of support. When we want it wrapped up right to F now, bring the troops home, bring those poor guys home, bring them home to their families. And let's get back to serving America instead of a foreign country like Israel. All right, when we come back, we're gonna do the revolution together and a couple of interesting
