You're listening to The Young Turks, the online news show.
Make sure to follow and rate our show with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five stars.
You're awesome. Thank you.
All right, welcome the Young Turks, live from the Polymarket Studio in L.A.
Jake Ugar, Francesca Fiorentini, Francesca has a podcast, habituation room.
That's in the TYT Podcasting Network, which of course you're all listening to.
So make sure you check out that podcast, which of course.
Of course.
Yeah.
Of course you're all listening to.
Okay.
Obviously.
Yeah.
And then.
So held the show ahead for you guys.
One of the founders of Project 2025 caught in secret recordings talking not only about how he and Trump were working together, but how extreme Christians are looking forward to taking over the country.
So fun for everybody.
Kamala Harris was some devastating ads against Donald Trump.
Trump with devastating statements against himself.
So hell would show for you.
The spiral continues.
Totally.
The, oh no, this is good.
We're gonna use this somewhere.
So the image of Trump's 2016 campaign
was taking that escalator down,
right, when he first announced,
the golden escalator.
The image for this campaign is a spiral staircase
endlessly going down.
going down.
Absolutely.
That escalator goes all the way down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We'll meme it up.
Meme it up.
That's how you call it, right?
Yeah.
But first we got some heavy news.
Yep.
All right, let's get into it.
Suffering in Gaza continues with the civilian death toll rising.
Horrible stories of death and destruction plagued the strip each day.
This week, one story pierced international headlines and the hearts of viewers.
That of a young father who's
twin babies were just days old. They, along with his wife, were killed in an Israeli shelling,
the latest victims of a horrific war. Just yesterday, the United States approved an additional
$20 billion in military aid for Israel as the country prepares for the possibility of a broader
conflict. Brian? Right. And Trey, we'll have to see when they're going to get that, all those arms.
Yeah, Brian, I'm not sure that's where you go with that entire report, but that was reporting on what
is actually happening to civilians on the ground in Gaza. We'll get to the grim toll that we
reach just today. But the noteworthy thing about that reporting is it's happening on Fox News.
Yes, reporter Trey Yinks happened to get past, I guess, the propaganda and actually report
on one family of many, many thousands that have been affected and have been killed in Israeli
strikes. This family is the family of Mohamed Abuel Kusama son, sorry, whose wife and four-day-old
twin babies were killed in an Israeli strike along with their maternal grandmother. There they
are on the right. And there he is on the left holding their birth certificates. In fact,
that's why he wasn't actually killed alongside his family because Abuel Komasan and his wife
had actually heeded the orders to evacuate Gaza City in the opening weeks of the war.
They sought shelter in Gaza City.
They did what they're told, as the army had instructed.
But then his wife, Jumana Arafa, a pharmacist, had given birth by Caesarean section four days ago
and announced the twins' arrival on Facebook.
On Tuesday, he went to register the births at the local government office.
While he was there, neighbors called to say the home where they were sheltering
near the central city of Der al-Bala had been bombed. And so that's what he came home to.
And more surprising, again, than the fact that some of this actual coverage is breaking
through to mainstream news is that it's on Fox. And also that their reporters are tweeting
things like this. Here was Trey Yinks on X saying, you can have empathy for Palestinian children
who are killed amid war and empathy for Israeli children who were killed on October 7th.
You can express concern for Israeli hostages being held in Gaza and for Palestinians who are suffering,
don't lose your humanity. It's almost like he forgot where he was. Fox News is in the business
of dehumanizing people. They do it all the time, whether they're migrants, people of color.
And of course, Palestinians, we all know that Donald Trump is using the phrase,
the word Palestinian as a slur against Joe Biden, against Chuck Schumer,
against anyone who would dare stand up to the human rights crimes that are happening right now,
not that Chuck Schumer is doing that. But Jenk, I wanted to kick it to you. Like this was a
surprising statement. It's surprising that this got broke through. I love that Brian Kielmead,
his response was yeah, but we're all wondering whether they're actually get that $20 billion.
You know, that's the most important thing about part about this. Yeah, he was literally asking,
wait a minute, the most important part is that we send them more bombs to kill more babies,
Right, right.
And I think you might have missed the point of the story.
So look, the reason why this is breaking news is number one, Fox News reporter saying something true.
Okay, well, miracles never cease.
And number two, because someone in American media treated Palestinians as human beings.
So that's not unprecedented, but it is rare.
And so whenever we see it on cable news, like, whoa, okay, look at that.
He said you should care about Israeli babies and Palestinian babies.
To a normal person, that is the most normal comment you could possibly make.
They're both human beings.
Your heart should break any, whether an Israeli or a Palestinian baby dies.
But in the monstrous world of Washington, D.C., you guys all know that's not the case.
34 kids killed on October 7th, and everybody thought that was the worst thing in the world than they should.
15,000 dead children at a bare, bare minimum in Gaza.
And all Washington gives Netanyahu standing ovation and $26 billion and says,
please kill more.
And if you think that's not what they're saying, you're factually incorrect.
When you send someone $26 billion, that means good job, I want more of what you just did.
That's why I sent you an extraordinary amount of money.
Congratulations on all of the murders of those Palestinian children.
Please do more.
Here's, in fact, I robbed the American taxpayer to make sure you can kill more Palestinians.
So that's what our Congress did.
And that's what Joe Biden did.
Let's be honest about it.
Yes, Trump is worse on this and he keeps saying, finish them.
And he might hand over the West Bank because one of his donors wants him to.
This is, the whole American government is pathetic on this issue.
But now let me point out one more piece of hypocrisy that's monumentally important here,
and then we'll get to the core of the issue.
I thought a lot of right wingers were pro-life.
I mean, that's what I've been told my whole life.
Decade after decade of, well, the babies, we care about babies.
I don't care if they're not even babies, I don't care if you're zygotes.
But the moment of conception is that pregnant women have been killed, and, and, and, you know,
their babies along with them in Gaza, tons of babies who needed respirators and some form
of electricity in hospitals to keep them alive, dead when the hospitals were bombed and
electricity was cut off.
And babies like this that were just born, killed endlessly.
Have you heard one pro-life leader in this country object?
Just one and say, wait a minute, guys, we're sending our money to in this.
this case, very literally kill babies. Not like theoretically, not zygote, not in a petri dish,
but actual babies. And hey, maybe we shouldn't. Maybe we should try to keep those babies alive.
Nope, not one so-called pro-life leader, because they're not pro-life, they're just anti-women.
And I would just add to that, like I haven't seen Rachel Maddow tears for the Palestinians
who've been murdered by Israeli strikes in the way that she cried.
over Trump separating families from their children in his awful immigration policies.
She was right to cry over them. Where are the tears? Where is the empathy when it's our American
taxpayer dollars being used to kill? Now we know 115 newborns, according to the Gaza Health
Ministry. And again, we've reached a grim toll of 40,000 dead there. So I just want to add that
the fact that we're seeing a Fox News, yes, they're a reporter, but the fact that we're seeing them
tweet out, let's not lose our humanity. And you know that the Democrats really have a little,
just a little bit of daylight between their position and the Republican position.
Republican position is kill them fast. Democrat position right now is kill them slow. No, we won't
do arms embargo. That's a five alarm fire if you're the Democratic Party. It is a five alarm fire
that you are so in lockstep with the Republican Party on this issue and that you cannot actually
bring yourself to a lie with your base, 57% of whom believe that this is a genocide and that
they're more a percentage of voters who believe that there should be an arms embargo on
Israel now. It's politically popular and guess what? It's morally right. I don't want to see.
And every damn day, today it's these twins. You know, yesterday it's a mentally disabled boy
mauled by IDF dogs. Every single day is like the worst imaginable thing and it's
come to light. Before I get back to you, Jank, let's look at the death toll. We've reached
40,000, over 40,000 dead in Gaza. It is the most detailed report on the dead that it was
issued today. The ministry said 40,05 have been killed. Health officials and civil defense
workers say the true toll is likely thousands higher, however, since many bodies remain buried
under the rubble of buildings that have been destroyed in those airstrikes. Again, the ministry
doesn't distinguish between civilians and militants, they say 70% of those killed have been
civilians. The UN in May also backed that up. In fact, they said 69% if you want to be more
accurate about it. They said 69% are women and children specifically. The Israeli military,
however, they got their own numbers. They've not challenged the overall death toll released by
Palestinians and the ministry, but it says that the number of dead militants is much higher,
roughly 15,000 or over 40% of all the dead.
It's provided no evidence to support those claims and also declined commentary for the
story, again, by the outlet Associated Press, not in the bag for Hamas or anything.
But, Jenk. Yeah, so let's talk about the numbers and then the policy.
So over 40,000 that is, Frannie just told you.
Then we've got thousands buried in the rubble.
So that number is definitely higher and everybody agrees to that as well.
92,000 wounded and 85% of the people of Gaza displaced.
Now refugees can't go back to their homes.
So it is a wide scale massacre.
It's a slaughter of epic proportions and there's no targeting or anything.
there's 60% of the buildings are either destroyed or damaged in Gaza, and the bombings have
killed women and children nonstop.
Like, look, guys, think about it, 70% are women and children.
That doesn't make the other 30% terrorists.
It makes them males, okay?
And so I know the racist ideology that some Israeli supporters have, that all Muslim males
are terrorists and should be murdered, but that it's not what the rest of the world agrees.
to, that is only the racist ideology of right wing Israeli leaders.
And so the reality is, it's an enormous percentage that are civilians.
But if you only count the women and children, their kill ratio is the same as Hamas.
If you include the innocent men, their kill ratio is worse than Hamas in terms of civilians
to fighters, and they have killed 35 times as many civilians as Hamas.
So look, I don't know that you care about logic.
It depends on who you are.
And if you're a right wing Israeli supporter, you definitely don't care about logic.
You just think dirty terrorists, kill them all.
Who cares?
We had to do it.
They made us do it.
You have all of these nonsense talking points going through your head.
Oh, yeah, they use them as human shields.
Oh, they should have done it from an open field.
All this nonsense.
Total course crap, okay?
But if you care about logic, like all other human beings,
Then you realize, yeah, if you kill 30 times as many civilians, you're 35 times a terrorist.
Oh no, oops, they didn't mean to. How could you accidentally kill?
What? Let's take the three quarters number, right?
30,000. Israel accidentally killed 30,000 civilians?
Accidentally.
I mean, look, come on, you just have to be a moron to believe that.
Again, I'm sorry if it breaks your heart.
But there's nothing accidental about it.
They meant to slaughter them and they did.
And so they did it with our money.
So finally, I get to the talking point of, well, we have to stay there, don't until we eradicate Hamas.
How are you going to eradicate Hamas?
First of all, how do you know when they're all dead?
Who comes out and says, oh, by the way, we're all dead now?
What a dumb, dumb thing to think.
Second of all, do you think that it works?
Well, what do you think you would do?
I'm just asking you, be honest with yourself.
No matter how biased you are, and you could be biased.
bias on the Palestinian side, you could be biased on the Israeli side. But no matter who you are,
if they murdered your newborn babies, what do you think you would do? Would you go, oh, yes, I love
Israel. Oh, damn, of course my baby should, and my wife should have been killed. I'm sure it was
all an accident. And I'm sure it was my fault as a Palestinian. And I deserve to be occupied.
And I will promise I will never, ever fight Israel. And I love the Israelis. Do you think any human
being would have that reaction or would they have the same reaction you're having, which is,
how do I fight these sons of bitches?
Especially when you have nothing left to live for.
Yeah. Literally nothing left to live for. Your entire family has been killed.
Or how many orphans that have been left? I think the number is something like 17,000
orphans, sole surviving family member. I mean, but that's why Israel goes back in,
Jank, right? So they go back to the schools they already targeted, the hospitals they already targeted,
The shelters that they said were safe that are no longer safe.
It's to exterminate the rest.
So you don't, you know, you kill them before they have a chance to become a terrorist.
Yeah, I mean, again, deeply, deeply racist ideology.
And it's not because they're natural born terrorists.
And Islam is worse than any other religion.
And they're all savages.
And they genuinely believe this crap.
It's just sickening to hear.
I can't stand it anymore.
The reality is when you occupy people and you say you have no freedom and we'll kill your babies anytime we like, they wind up hating you.
It's not because they were born anti-Semitic and oh my God, it's definitely because the world hates us.
No, it's because you're slaughtering them.
It's super obvious unless you're totally blinded by your bias.
Stop slaughtering them and perhaps we can get to peace one day where both.
can live in peace.
I know, revolutionary thought.
But yes, people are so preposterously dumb in America that's a lot of them,
and almost everyone in Washington thinks, no, we'll just murder our way out of this.
If we just kill enough Hamas members, I bet there won't be anyone else that comes up.
I bet they would all the people who had their family members murdered will think,
oh, it's hunky dory and I love Israel now.
And I love the Jews.
I can't wait to do peace with them.
and they will be completely broken and they will crawl on their hands and knees and beg for our mercy.
That has never happened in human history.
That is not how humans operate.
They want to strike back.
So you're either going to get to peace through peace or you're going to get to endless war through war.
And if you sit there and you go, I want their occupation, I want those savages controlled it under my thumb.
And I'll kill them 10 times, 20 times, 35 times more than they killed me.
Okay, then don't get surprised and don't act all hurt when they fight back.
Oh my God, what savage terrorists?
So what savage terrorists have the IDF been?
Look at those dead babies.
The IDF did that.
That's a fact.
All right, let's take a break.
All right, back on TYT, Jank, Francesca, Brian Simeon and Anna Dyer with you guys.
Brian and I, thank you for it in the join button below.
We really appreciate you guys.
Brandi, what's next?
All right, well, we all know that when it comes to fake news, Trump is king, right?
Remember, COVID is just the flu, the invented hurricane paths, the alternative facts in regards
to his crowd sizes.
But now the Harris campaign looks like it might be dabbling in its own fake news, actually,
thanks to what it's doing with Google ads.
And this is according to Axios, the Harris campaign has been editing news headlines
and descriptions within Google search ads that make it appear as if the Guardian,
Reuters, CBS News, and other major publishers are on her side. Since August 3rd, nearly a dozen
news companies have been used in these types of search ads from the Harris campaign, Axios
found. Examples include the independent UK and PR, AP, The Guardian USA Today, PBS, CNN,
CBS News, Time, and local outlets like North Dakota radio stations, W-Day Radio. And so we're going
to show you what they look like, but basically they have links to real articles. In fact,
Why don't you throw this up? They have links to real articles from news outlets, but the headlines
that are supporting the text have been altered to read as though the articles support the Harris
campaign objectives. So it says sponsored, but it's very, very hard to tell that it's actually
not a news outlet. So some of the headlines that they've edited include things like
inflation is down, VP Harris's economic vision lower costs and higher wages, or Harris will lower
health costs. And again, they're using the logo. The URL goes right to, seems like it goes to the news
agency. But again, it is an ad campaign. And this is what's happened on the right hand side of your
Google search page. That's what will populate. It'll seem like it's another news article being
suggested to you. But again, it's just an ad. Now, it's important to know that Facebook banned
this practice, which is pretty interesting to know, for advertisers to edit the text from instant
article news links in their ads back in 2017, citing it's quote continuing efforts to stop
the spread of misinformation and false news. I mean, we kind of have them to thank for Donald
Trump in the first place, definitely January 6th. And outlets are kind of flummoxed at this move
by the Harris campaign. The Guardian spokesperson said, while we understand an organization
might wish to align itself with the Guardian's trusted brand, we need to ensure it's being
used appropriately and with our permission. We will be reaching out to Google for more information
about this practice. And Google is happy to accept the money, right? They're like, oh, they,
first of all, they have anti-monopolistic or monopolistic practices, anti-competitive practice
when it comes to their ads broadly. But they don't have any qualms taking Harris campaign
donors money to make it look like NPR is leading with headlines like Harris will lower health
costs when I think we haven't even seen a health plan come out of the campaign. But, Jank, what did you
of this?
It's dumb.
I don't know why they're doing it.
I mean, I do know why they're doing it, but I think it's going to backfire and be counterproductive.
So the reason they're doing it is because they think, unfortunately accurately so, and we've
said a lot on this program over the last couple of decades and covered the news for you guys.
Most people only read the headlines.
And so they think if we just change the headlines, mission accomplished.
And so that's, if you remember, the reason I brought up a couple of decades is because if you remember the
Remember the clip of me yelling about the USA Today headline, which a lot of folks remember
because it was a hell of a rant, and that was about the Iraq war.
And they said, well, Bush says U.S. safer because of Iraq war.
Well, if that's all you read, you might think, oh, at least we're safer, even though
just Bush made that up.
And in the article, they clarified later, I mean, he said it.
It's not necessarily true, but nobody bothers reading the article.
All they do is read the headlines.
And that's why Kamala Harris is doing this, or her team is doing this.
But it's not worth it.
Number one, I hate when they lose credibility like this.
I can't stand it.
And what's going to be even worse is when you know that there's some people who just carry water.
That's all they do.
They view that as their job.
So they'll have to march out here and go, no, when we do fake news, it's great.
Oh, we should be doing fake news.
Fake news is terrific.
I don't know.
And then that's like deeply embarrassed.
and hurts you even more.
And so, and especially when Trump is saying, calling all mainstream media fake news.
And remember, the reason he started at was because Trump was doing this back in 2016.
They'd have whole fake articles, right?
So why are you doing the same thing Trump did?
It's just, it's terrible.
I hate it.
And the Harris team should stop immediately.
Yeah.
I mean, it also makes it look like these news organizations are in the bag for Harris.
when they might have like a legitimate article that definitely isn't overly flowery,
but it creates a narrative.
I mean, in the same way that your rant discusses the Iraq war and the media consensus
around that and how much credibility was lost during that time from the media.
I think a lot of credibility was also lost from the mainstream news.
I mean, when hasn't it been?
But during the Trump rise.
And then now, as we're seeing, you know, 10 months of an ongoing genocide in Gaza.
and they truly turn a blind eye and make us, you know, it's like, oh, occasionally,
well, let CNN Global do a report on it.
So it's just a bad look all around, even if I think for these news organizations,
it might actually bolster them, right?
Because they're basically giving them free ad space on the right-hand column there.
Now, this has been done in other campaigns.
Harris is not the first to do it.
Trump hasn't been doing it this campaign cycle.
But as Jenk reference, we remember the like Macedonian teens,
who were just furiously writing like, Trump is Jesus. Jesus is Trump, print, you know,
and that would just like be a news item on Facebook in 2016. So it's just, yeah, they need to,
hey, how about a grassroots campaign? We don't need to do this. You're already getting positive
coverage without editing the headlines to be overly, you know, indulgent.
Yeah, so I know that if they did it to one of our videos, for example, I'd be pretty furious if we did a nuanced video about the upsides and downsides of Kamala Harris's health care policy, if she had one, and then they changed the title to young Turks praise
Gabla Harris, Gabla Harris, great on healthcare. Wonderful. I'd be like, no, we didn't say that.
And that's super annoying and it's fake. And it's just, then people stop trusting you. So it's dumb
in every imaginable way. Absolutely. Maybe we can squeeze this. And speaking of dumb in every
imaginable way, JD Vance, back in the news, there's a lot of JD coming up. So gird your loins and
your cats. Let's go with this. Senator, one of my dear friends tonight said to me,
well, all these suburban women, all they care about is abortion and they don't understand
that decision is with the states now. It's not banned nationally, even if people, some people
want to be banned nationally. It's with the states. What do you say to suburban women out there
who are marinating in this propaganda? Well, first of all, I don't buy that, Laura. I think
most suburban women care about the normal things that most Americans care about, right?
They care about inflation, they care about the price of groceries, they care about public safety.
Yeah, normal things, reproductive rights, the right to an abortion, the right to not bleed out in your car because
you're being denied any care because you're miscarrying. That's weird. That's weird stuff.
Birth is weird. There's JD Vance, kind of not picking up what Laura Ingram is putting down there
and saying that no, in fact, your friend is wrong, there is no propaganda.
In fact, there is suburban women, they don't even care about abortion whatsoever.
And this is all an effort to obviously hide the ball,
tell us that they're not actually going after reproductive rights,
that they haven't already had a massive win with the overturning of Roe v. Wade
from their extremist Supreme Court.
And Tim Walls immediately fired back because again,
he's the happy attack dog of the Harris campaign.
We kind of love him for it.
He tweeted this in response said,
it's pretty normal to respect a woman's right to make her own damn health care decisions.
Yeah, it's a normal, that is, there's nothing more normal than being like,
oh, your body, you know, that's important for you to decide when and how and if you will be a parent.
But there is more from J.D. Vance.
He went back to the classic line that I think we're all sick of,
all the fear mongering that apparently Democrats were doing. So take a look.
Look, as Donald Trump has said, he wants the American people at the state level to decide abortion
policy. And you compare that to the Democrats who want to do nationalized taxpayer-funded abortion
up to the moment of birth. I think Donald Trump is actually trying to identify the reasonable
compromise where he lets California figure out its abortion policy. Alabama and Ohio figure out
their abortion policy. That is actually the common sense approach.
And it's the approach that's most respectfully of the American people.
The Democrats are obsessed with late-term abortion and making sure taxpayers fund it.
Obviously, Republicans disagree with that.
But I think that Donald Trump has charted a very reasonable course for the American people.
Let the American people decide this.
Yeah, let the American people, the person decide this, right?
Isn't, can we just do that?
There's more on Trump because he's going in a little bit of a fun bind.
But Jank, I think it's incredible that he wasn't able to understand that Laura was basically saying her and her friends see all these suburban women who are clearly they've been hearing the concern.
And she's like, they're just marinating and propaganda, right?
And he's like, no, they're not marinating all.
In fact, what you just said is actually not true.
Yeah, he missed it completely.
And as always, it's a softball on Fox News.
But I wanted to also focus on a couple of things you said, and they said, Frannie, you say, you know, you were.
on let the American people decide and in this case it would be a woman who
decides what to do with our own body. I know that for the people who claimed
that they're in favor of freedom, that's a shock to them. They're like, well, no,
no, no, my freedom, not your goddamn freedom, right? So let's just note that as
always. But 70% of Americans are in favor of basically the Roe v. Wade
policy of abortion being free and available and legal in the first two
trimesters and then having exceptions for health in the last trimester.
And so, yeah, why don't we let the American people decide?
But Vance doesn't want that.
The Christian right doesn't want that.
They go, no, we're the Christian Taliban and whatever we think that God whispered to us.
Well, again, not in the Bible.
The Bible is actually pro-abortion.
Read numbers 511 through 31.
God actually commits an abortion in the Bible.
read your Bible, okay?
So these religious leaders hijacked the Bible and said, oh, yeah, yeah, we want to control
women's bodies.
Oh, I mean, God wants to control women's bodies.
I mean, God cares about babies, and that's why we're controlling your bodies, et cetera.
But it didn't work.
It didn't work.
We don't want to be led by your extremist, fundamentalist ideology.
70% of Americans are clear.
So what does Laura Ingram call that?
Marinating in propaganda.
Wait, it's a poll number.
What?
How is it propaganda?
So if seven out of ten Americans, for example, want to keep their guns, right?
They don't want gun control.
Would you say that's marinated in propaganda?
No, that's just a poll number, right?
And I could try to change their mind on that, but it's a poll number.
And so whereas a talking point, which is all you ever hear on Fox News, is marinating in propaganda.
And so, and to me, I've got to point out every time they usually do these outrageous lies.
So J.D. Vance said, oh, the Democrats want nationalized taxpayer-funded abortion until the moment of birth.
Just a preposterous lie. That is not true. No one has ever advocated for any of that.
Right now, it is not taxpayer funded by law, and it is not till the moment of birth.
And so they keep saying that lie 2,000 times over because they're hoping, like, oh, the only way that you could possibly be in favor of their position is if you think,
I just that woman walked in nine months pregnant or now as the lunatic Donald Trump keeps saying post birth abortions, right?
Oh, I have a baby. Where do I go and kill it? Ha ha ha ha. Yeah, if you thought that, you would vote for Trump. But that's not true. Any other position on abortion and they lose. That's why they lie about what the reality on abortion is. Yeah. And look, Trump is flip-flopped on whether he would pass the national abortion ban. He's running away.
It actually took a month, you know, in March, he was saying, yeah, that he passed a 15-week
abortion ban. And then in April he was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no abortion ban. We never
do an abortion ban. So they claim that it's up to the states, which by the way, it's
terrible under the states. It's already up to the states right now. And it had been,
even before Roe was overturned, and people were facing obstetric nightmares for either wanted
or unwanted pregnancies. So that was already happening. To say nothing of the, you know, a 10-year-olds who
were victims of rape who have had to carry their children to term, right? Their babies to term.
But on to the Trump thing, Donald Trump is a resident of Florida, which is interesting. He votes
in Florida. And a lot of people are wondering how he's going to vote in the upcoming election,
not for president, obviously, but on a ballot initiative, a measure that would abolish the state's
new ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. And Desantis, when DeSantis signed the law to
to make abortion illegal after six weeks. Trump called it a mistake, but now he's going to be
able to vote on this measure, whether to revoke it, and he doesn't really have an answer.
The looming referendum is threatening all of his efforts, again, as he put in April,
to make, quote, both sides happy with his position, and it's giving Democrats an opening to
continue hammering him. And here's what he said during a press conference,
clearly unprepared, and here's his stock answer when he doesn't know what to say or what he's going to do.
take a look.
Well, I'm going to announce that.
I'm going to actually have a press conference on that at some point in the near future,
so I don't want to tell you now.
But Florida does have a vote coming up on that.
And I think probably the vote will go in a little more liberal way than people thought.
But I'll be announcing that at the appropriate time.
It's just the most like, I'll raise me.
my hand once everyone else has raised their hand, but I don't want to raise my hand yet because
I don't want to be the first one. Who, what? Like it is? So again, he's saying it might go in a
more liberal way, meaning they might overturn the Susanta's six week abortion, which is, again,
effectively, biologically a total abortion ban. Most people don't know they're pregnant
by six weeks. The polling is mixed. However, it might not go the way Trump says it's going to
go. The ballot measure shows that abortion rights proponents so far have the
advantage, 69% of likely voters saying they plan to vote yes.
According to a July survey, the initiative needs 60% support to pass.
So yeah, it could actually, he might be correct on this.
A poll from Wednesday more recently from the Florida Atlantic University and Main Street USA
found 56% of Sunshine State voters support the proposed amendment falling short of again that
60% threshold Florida requires for constitutional amendments to become law.
But then again, Jank, I'm old enough to remember when they also said, yeah, felons should have be reenfranchised and should be able to vote.
And then the state legislature was like, that's cute. No. And then they just overruled the will of the people.
Yeah, and it used to be 50% in a lot of states. And now all the Republican legislatures are moving the ballot in issues up to 60% because they're like, oh, this democracy is annoying. The Democrats keep winning. Let's move it up 60%. 80%. Why? Because the legislatures are all gerrymen.
So they cheated to make sure that they have districts that over over represent Republicans
and their state legislatures, but they can't cheat in a ballot initiative.
So they hate ballot initiatives.
They're like, goddamn democracy.
How do we strangle this thing in its crib?
By the way, we're pro-life.
Okay, so there's that 70% number in the first poll that Franny read you guys for, and that's true in Florida, which is now a red state.
It's true in almost every state.
And Trump said, you know, it's more liberal than anyone thought.
No, nope.
Everyone thought it was going to be about seven out of ten.
It's just you guys and the Christian right who, you know, basically Christian Taliban,
thought that you guys were the majority.
You're not the majority.
You're a minority and you're a very annoying anti-freedom minority who keeps saying,
everybody has to follow our rules.
No, we don't, brother.
It's a democracy.
So sad day for you, go cry in the corner of your fundamentalist church.
No, goat's blood and all that stuff and whatever wacky thing you're doing,
or wrap yourself on a snake.
But the American people, you lost the culture wars.
The American people do not agree with you.
We should not take away women's rights to choose what to do with their own body
because you think Yahweh whispered it in your goddamn ear.
Okay, and he did something really stupid there.
He promised a press conference on abortion.
And his aides were like, what?
We didn't know about that.
Maybe, okay, so you're going to do a whole press conference on an abortion where you're getting your ass on an issue where you're getting your ass handed to you?
Great, I can't wait for that press conference.
That would be a wonderful mistake.
But most importantly, Randy, a lot of MAGA likes Trump because he's authentic, man.
He's the one guy telling it like it is.
Really?
Because he just told you he has to check with his political consultants before he.
he tells you his real opinion on abortion.
If he has a real opinion on abortion, if you ask me what my opinion on that ballot initiative
is, it's easy, I know it right away, I don't have to go, well, I'm gonna have to figure
it out, I don't know what, I'm gonna tell you a lie, but I haven't figured out which lie yet.
That's why I got the political consultants and we're gonna go, we're gonna say, hey, where's
the numbers and how should we lie to them?
How should we frame it?
What happened?
I thought he wasn't a standard politician.
Looks like a greasy lying politician to me.
Yeah. And lastly, just some numbers back to the Ingram stuff, you know, all the, oh, it's up to the states. Don't we realize it's up to the states? Yeah, women don't like that it's up to the states either. Okay, so this is a recent report from KFF, which is a health policy organization. They say three and four reproductive age women. Again, this is just reproductive age women in the U.S. Think abortion should be legal in most or all cases, 74%. So a little bit more than the average. Majority support a nationwide right to abortion. 70% oppose a ban at 15 weeks, 65%.
And opposed leaving it up to the states to determine the legality of abortion, 74%.
This is the case from the majority of women who are Democrats and independents, as well as
smaller but still substantial shares of Republicans. Yeah. So and this, I know you guys are
going to get into it later, but this also is driving, I think, a wedge between couples and families
and women and men who are like, you know, one of them and Jake, the last thing I'll say is,
it's not your steeped in propaganda. They're not watching TYT. Sorry that we're spitting facts. Like,
Sorry that we're bringing you some stats.
It's that they're hearing it from their friends.
They're hearing it from people they know.
They're hearing, you know, concerns about people who have, you know, are going through IVF right now and don't know if that's going to be protected.
Oh, but that's going to be protected.
But then what about people who are miscarrying or people who have ectopic pregnancies that are non-viable?
They're hearing it from people in their communities, right?
And we just did a big story on yesterday.
More than 100 women have been turned away at hospitals seeking emergency care while pregnant.
And they've been turned away because hospitals are like,
ah, we got to consult our lawyers.
Yeah, I don't, can you just bleed out in the bathroom?
Can you just miscarry over there?
Thank you.
So you're not hearing it from propaganda outlets.
You know what that sounds like to me, Franie?
It sounds like government tyranny.
When the government says you no longer control your body,
Big Brother controls your body now.
And Big Brother will tell you exactly what to do with your body.
And your only role you have in this,
Democracy is the freedom to shut up and listen to some sort of Christian fundamentalists.
Or maybe, by the way, maybe they'll replace religions later and use a Muslim or a Jewish or a Buddhist or a Hindu fundamentalist.
But it doesn't matter, you will listen to religious zealots and you will not be allowed to have your own opinion or control over your own body.
By the way, this is from the party that believes in freedom.
Do you?
Yeah.
All right, we got to take a break here.
We'll be right back.
All right back on TYT, Jank, Frannie, Mia Ardell and Connie Lopez, Mia and Connie, thank you guys for hitting the join button below. You guys are amazing. We appreciate you.
We need as many members as possible, and please help fund our trip to the DNC.
TYT.com slash DNC to do that.
We appreciate all you guys.
Frannie, what's next?
All right, we got some leaked tapes.
Take a look at this.
Meet Russ Vote.
Formerly a cabinet member and chief lieutenant in the first Trump admin.
I want to thank Russ for doing an incredible job.
He now runs a group called Center for Renewing America.
An organization that I helped turn into the death star that is accomplishing all the debates that you are reading about.
I think you have to rehabilitate Christian nationalism.
You have the largest deportation in history.
Block funding for Planned Parenthood.
I want to be the person that crushes the deep state.
Yes, Russell Vote being very candid with two gentlemen he's sitting there with.
And there's more tape of that.
Why?
Why?
Why was he saying those things?
We'll get into it.
But first of all, Russell vote is one of the architects of Project 2025.
One of the people who is publicly running from it, but privately is boasting about it and we'll get to it.
That obviously is the sort of fascistic blueprint for a second Trump administration,
replacing all federal employees with loyalists or whoever responds to Trump's posts on truth social first.
And last month, he sat down with those two gentlemen and he thought they were family members of big,
conservative donors. He thought there was money in it. Instead, he was talking to two men from
the British journalism nonprofit, the Center for Climate Reporting, who were secretly recording
him the entire time. Vote is part of again, as they mentioned, the Center for Renewing America
and was recently selected to create kind of like codify Project 2025 in a Republican policy
platform. And he's looking forward to, in a Trump 2.0, having a cabinet position.
with Trump. But behind closed doors, this is what he was telling these two, I guess,
wealthy donors who were like, who knows how much they egged him on. But let's take a little bit
more about, take a look a little bit more about him saying that we shouldn't be worried
about Trump distancing himself from Project 2025 because he's still in on it.
I expect you hear 10 more times to be a rally. The president, you know, distancing himself
from the left's boogeyman at Project 2025.
And you don't worry about that?
No, not worried about it.
Okay.
He's running against the brand.
He is not running against any people.
Okay.
He is not running against any institutions.
It's interesting.
He's in fact not even opposing himself to a particular policy.
He's been out of our organization.
He's raised money for our organization.
He's blessed it from the, you know,
I remember walking into our last day in office
and told him what I was going to do.
So he's very supportive of what we do. If a battle plan is out there that will do what he wants,
there are the people like me that have his trust that will be able to get it to him in whatever
position we're at. I could be at Center for New America, but the relationships will be there.
The trust level will be there.
So don't worry, if you donate to us or, you know, you donate to a Trump pack, I will ensure
that I will do your bidding. Who are you again? You have a British accent. That's
seems like you're rich, right? Oops, Center for Climate Reporting, yikes. But again, so
this is, he's part of Center for Renewing America and really interestingly enough,
the communications director of that organization when this was leaked and released was like,
no big deal, that's fine. Her name is Rachel Colley and she tweeted this. Lull, none of this is
secret would have been easier to just Google uncover what's already on our website and in
countless media interviews, but thanks for airing our perfect conversation. Emphasizing our
policy work is totally separate from the Trump campaign, as we've been saying, which means
that it's not. There's a little bit more from the secret footage, but Jank, here you have it.
It's incredible to me that they've even been trying to back away from Project 2025 at all,
But now you have, you know, a guy who's been promised a cabinet position saying,
no, no, no, he's all in on Christian nationalism and don't worry.
Yeah. So two disturbing things here.
Let's start with how closely they're aligned because Trump says, oh, Project 2025,
I don't even know what that is. Oh, no, I disavow. Why? Because it's hurting him politically,
and he's seeing the polling numbers on it. And so he's trying to get away from it.
Meanwhile, this guy's saying he blessed it. We have his complete trust.
Here's another quote.
We've got about 350 different documents that are regulations and things of that nature that are we're planning for the next administration.
So they're ready to go.
And by the way, one of the things they're going to do is they're saying we want to get rid of the independence of a lot of the executive branch.
So like for example, the attorney general and the Justice Department are independent of the president because what if they have to investigate the president?
They represent the American people.
They don't represent the president and his political ambitions, right?
And these guys are saying, no, we want them to only represent Trump and not the American people.
So we're going to get rid of their independence.
So which one is it?
Has he disavowed or is he blessed it?
It sounds a little bit like Russell voter fraud.
And so, but the second part, of course, is, in my opinion, even scarier.
I mean, destroying the American government and how it works and its checks and balances is pretty damn scary to begin with.
But this guy's unabashed.
He's like, no, we're trying to make this a Christian nationalist country.
And, well, I didn't sign up for that.
And nobody here in America signed up for it.
We signed up for a country where we're all equal, where there's justice, and we're equal before the law, no matter what religion or race or ethnic background we are.
And these guys just don't believe that.
They think that Christian extremists should be the superior people in America and everybody
else should be forced to listen to them.
It's disgusting and totally un-American.
Yeah, and to your point, this was his quote.
We'll get to the piece about consolidating the executive branch.
But to that Christian nationalist point, he also Russell Vote continued to say,
we've been too focused on religious liberty.
So, you know, exactly what Jane just said and what we believe this country was founded on.
on, which we all support.
But we've lacked the ability to argue we're a Christian nation.
I want to make sure that we can say we are a Christian nation.
And my viewpoint is mostly that I would probably be a Christian nationalism.
A nationalist.
That's pretty close to Christian nationalism because I also believe in nationalism.
Nationism, Christian nationalism, that's just an idiot's way of saying Christian nationalism.
You just, all right, whatever you think that.
That's like saying white identitarian instead of white nationalist, white supremacist.
But to James point about that consolidation on executive power, this is what vote had to say about what they want to do should they get back into the White House.
80% of my time is working on the plans of what's necessary to take control of these bureaucracies.
And we are working doggedly on that, whether it's destroying their agency's notion of independence that are independent from the president.
So exactly right. And I think it's really funny, Jank, that weren't a time when, I mean, the rights trying to pivot, but their line was that all of the investigations into Trump, all the classified documents investigation, the January 6th stuff, you know, the election fraud in Georgia, all of the cases, that's all being done by Mayor Garland and at the behest of Joe Biden, when precisely, again, every accusation is a confession because that is exactly what they want to do is collapse any kind of barrier between the,
the secretary, the attorney general, excuse me, and the president.
So he would literally just be the attack dog of the president.
Yeah, so every once in a lot of people will say, hey,
you know, you point out all the problems of the Democratic Party and you see the
corruption in Washington.
So why don't you vote for Trump?
No.
Boy.
No.
Okay, I mean, if you think this guy's against corruption, you're nuts.
And just because the Democrats do things that aren't right, that doesn't
mean we should hand a country over to the Christian Taliban and have them run our lives
and turn this into a Christian nationalist country where we all have to obey their version
of rules. And you know what their version of what God says is going to be? That they're right
and we're wrong and that we should listen to them and that they're superior to us. And who's
they? Is it Christians? No, no. It's always, of course, the Christian nationalist leaders and their
interpretation. So if we're going to be a so-called Christian nation led by only Christian
nationalist and everybody else has to shut up, okay, then are we all going to give away
all of our property and follow Jesus? Because that's what it says in the Bible. Are we all
going to make sure that we're incredibly poor? Because a rich man, can I get into heaven? As
it says in the Bible, it's harder for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Our middle
class, okay, I don't know. Are we actually going to follow the Bible? Are we going to help the poor
in the needy? Are we going to follow the sermon on the mount?
A sermon on the mount?
No, we're going to follow the Russell Vaught and Donald Trump and his other lunatic Christian Taliban.
We're going to tell you you don't control you, if you're a woman, you don't control your body anymore.
If you're not one of us fundamentalists, you don't have the same rights as we do.
And they're going to turn this country into basically Afghanistan.
I have no interested in that.
And if you're an American and you believe in this country and you believe in equality and justice,
and you don't want to live under a fundamentalist rule, then it's a no-brainer.
You'd be nuts to vote for Donald Trump and have these lunatics run the place.
And they're telling you, we're going to destroy the American government.
We don't want independence in the government.
We don't want the government to serve the American people.
We wanted to serve one supreme religious leader.
Again, if you like countries like that, Iran and Saudi Arabia are available.
Absolutely.
I just have to pivot to this one last, this one last piece of footage that we've got,
because the journalist also interviewed an aid to Russell Vote.
His name is Michael Meadowcroft, who's basically like, oh, Project 2025 is still on.
We're still, like, working on it.
In fact, we're preparing the next phase.
And Richard Vote, or excuse me, Russell Vote is helping do that.
So take a look.
Yeah.
Because obviously you want as little bit to be foiable.
You're familiar with the FOIA process as possible.
Freedom of Information Act, yeah.
The Freedom of Information Act allows the public to
request government communications, but Metacroft reveals they plan to avoid these rules.
Yeah, the goal is familiarize all the transition team people with these plans,
but you don't actually like send them to their work emails.
Right.
You know, you could just give the handbooks to everyone.
You're like, this is the game plan for the admin.
Yeah, if the press knows that that's what you're doing, that they're going to immediately
just say, like, I request all of your emails from heritage.
Okay, you know, you're right.
Yeah, I see.
So we'll see.
Interesting.
So in other words, to avoid oversight, they're just going to use everyone's hotmail account that they set up when they were 14.
Cool, everyone's get on AOL.
It's almost like they're going to use private servers to discuss government business.
Where have I heard that before?
Oh my God, but here he is, Jank just sort of boasting.
Oh, we're going to do this thing and they're never going to fight out about it.
It's going to be great, you know.
I can tell you a big dough.
You're a donor, right? You're a donor?
Yeah, please.
Yeah, and they say publicly, oh, it's okay, trust Donald Trump when he tells you that he hasn't heard of the guy that was in his administration and we have other recordings of them talking about how they're going to do all of this, right?
But you have to trust Donald Trump. And here's one of his henchmen going. Now, the way that we trick people is that we don't show them the real information. We send that, you know, in a way that the press can't find out, because we're
We don't want anybody finding out what we're up to.
Why?
Like if you told me, hey, Chink, if you got on the office, well, what are you going to be up to?
I'm like, oh yeah, I'm going to be up to trying to get paid family leave pass, higher minimum wage, lowering drug prices.
I don't mind you guys knowing that, those are all incredibly popular positions.
These guys are like, okay, our positions suck, everybody hates them.
And we're trying to take over their lives secretly.
So now remember, this is how you make sure they don't find out.
Well, okay, thanks for accidentally telling us.
There's props involved, so it's going to be fun. Take a look.
I had something here. I did have something. I would show you. Wait a minute. I don't know if you've seen this. I used it once.
Oh, I have it. I do have it. Look at this. Look at this. So this is Tick-Tax, right?
I don't know if I like the company. I've never met. I have no idea. They're so lucky.
Look at all the television is like. This is the greatest commercial they ever had.
But that's what happened. This is inflation.
There is Donald Trump using Tic Tacs and specifically travel size Tick Tax to demonstrate what inflation is.
And I truly don't think he understands or knows what inflation is.
When is the last time he's ever gone to a grocery store or bought anything like a normal Kuman?
And he said he takes the Tick Tacks wherever he goes.
goes and he's been doing that a while now.
Actually, here's what he said.
He talked a lot about how he's giving free ad space to tic-tacks.
Here he said, here's what he said in June.
I'll tell you what, it's the single biggest, I even have that here.
I have something here.
Huh, let me see, because you asked this question, I think I'll show.
Should I show it?
I don't know if you get seen.
Look, Tic-Tax.
This is what inflation.
does. This is what a person does. Okay, look, not good, right? But that's, I kid. But that's,
there really is no kidding. It's serious. People can't live. It just added to the roster,
all the new hits, the Hannibal Lecter lines. Here's a small package, here's a big package.
Also, Jake, that's not like, what is the cost of each?
You'd have to talk about how much each of them costs.
And truly, I mean, it was one of the funny lines of the Biden state of the union address.
We talked about shrinkflation, right?
You can show a new tic-tac pack with like way fewer tic-tacks and then you could talk
about shrinkflation. That is real.
People try to get away with selling you the same price, giving the same price for far less,
right? But no, he's just showing us travel sizes.
No, no, I'm sorry for any, but I,
You lost me on this one.
I get what he's saying.
So look, this is this is Coca-Cola, okay, you see it, okay?
I like it, I travel around with it, okay?
It's a big ad space for them, Coca-cola.
This is inflation, okay?
And you see what happened there.
Wow.
But I have more of that, Frannie.
Okay, this, this is water.
This is water.
This is inflation.
Inflation.
Whoa.
I'm worried about it.
And my favorite here,
This is toothpaste, okay?
Uh-huh.
This is inflation.
Stop it.
This is not for traveling like I'm about to do the DNC.
What is this an economy for ants?
Yeah.
Like, come on, do we not know that there's smaller sizes of products?
Is this a new thing for America?
It's so silly.
Obviously, he's like, this is how he's explaining inflation.
Here's another way he explained inflation,
getting real riled up about the price of bacon.
Remember this?
What are you going to do about bringing down the rent and things like
to happen in the economy?
Because out of eight children that I'm a father and a stepfather too,
five of them are struggling and I'm giving them part of my income on a regular basis.
How are you going to make the economy not just the food and electricity,
but bring down the rent prices, the housing prices, so that these kids can survive and without their parents help.
Such a good question, Mr. President.
You're right. I hear it very well, and I tell you, first of all, I love the people that you're with.
I know that I must have at least 99, perhaps 100 percent of all of them, and I think they're incredible.
We are going to drill, baby drill.
We're going to bring down the cost of energy.
Energy is what caused the worst inflation, I think, in the history of our country.
Prices are up 50% sometimes more. You look at bacon. Bacon is quadrupled. You can't order
bacon. You can't order anything. But enough about the Mar-a-Lago buffet. That's Trump, obviously,
completely not answering this man's question about housing, talking about the price of bacon.
The price of bacon, we fact checked. It is up 17% since Trump left office. Not quite the
numbers that he was saying. But also, when's the last time Donald Trump's actually set foot in a grocery
store to buy his own food, let alone actually cooked it. He actually thinks you need an ID under Biden's
America to buy groceries. Remember this? You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries,
you need a picture on a card. You need ID. You go out and you want to buy anything. You need
ID and you need your picture. What are you talking about?
about. No, no. Frannie, again, I went to the grocery store the other day. They said,
Oh, tell me, uh-huh. So, where's your ID? I'm gonna need you to see your ID before I sell you
milk and toothpaste, okay, or tic-tacks. And I was like, man, I'm busted. They got me on this one.
But only on the small stuff. You need ID just to buy the little ones. Yeah, yeah. So this is their
idea of a populist. A guy who's been to the grocery store in decades, has no, no, bacon did not go up
400% in price.
It's obvious you haven't bought something on your own in forever.
I think there's some chance that he thought Tic Tacs were somehow related to TikTok.
Because you remember he was going to ban TikTok and then Jeff Yaz gave him millions of dollars
who's part owner of TikTok.
So he's like, I like TikTok now.
I carried around all the time.
Look at my TikToks.
No, no, no, brother.
He just really wants an endorsement.
Bacon, if Big Bacon, if you're listening.
Yeah. I have one last show and tell for you, Frannie. So this is Trump's voters in 2016. This is his voters in 2024.
Oh, but it's that small part that matters. That's the stuff that really cleans or makes, that's just pure sugar.
This is, there's a fun little addendum here, which is the JD Vance. He might have misspoke, but he also might be incredibly out of touch with the average American.
And here's what he said about inflation and listen to how much he thinks it costs to own a car.
Thanks to Kamala Harris, suspending policies.
The average new car costs nearly $50,000 a year.
What?
No, it doesn't.
So we were talking about this, like did he misspeak, probably, but it is so funny, Jake,
that he doesn't catch himself after that.
He just is rattling all the stuff of it at 50,000 a year.
I don't know. I don't my Peter Thiel gives me my car. He's given me every single one of my cars, in fact. I don't even know what a car payment looks like. It might be $50,000 a year. No, thank God it is not. Yeah, he probably misspoke their fair show in America. But it does go to the general cluelessness of the Republicans. I remember when Rush Limbaugh would, when he got sick in Hawaii. And then he's like, it's no big deal if you don't have health insurance. It only costs me like half a Hummer. We don't all have hummers.
and numbers cost a lot of money and are you nuts?
And he would say things like, well, I don't get it.
Well, why are the poor keep complaining about food?
Why don't they just go to the refrigerator?
And there right there is Republican ideology.
So out of touch.
Yeah.
Like that is such a slap in the face, just like holding a Tick-Tac up at people
who are talking about housing.
I'm surprised he didn't do the, like on the phone.
I got a Tick-Tac here, let me shake it for you.
It's a fun little sound.
Yeah.
All right, I've got to go right.
That's my cue.
Yeah, no, I've just, yeah, one last joke, though.
I think there is one person in the Trump household who's familiar with shrinkflation,
and that's Melania.
Hold on it.
I'm going to go puke over there.
Okay, all right.
When we come back, more spiraling from Donald Trump in a world of hurt.
We'll be back.
I'm going to be.
I don't know.
