All right, welcome to the Young Turks.

A huge show ahead.
By the way, tomorrow we're going to do something fun.
The post game is going to be live and free to everybody.
That's the last half hour of the show.
And we're going to take YouTube super chat questions and comments only.
And you girl will read anything in the YouTube super chat.
Really?
Almost.
Okay, don't try me.
But no, actually try me.
Like, what are we doing?
Like, what are we doing with that?
It's a terrible idea.
I hear you.
Anyway, so that's for tomorrow's post game.
Last half hour of tomorrow.
So, but today we have the second coming of God.
That's pretty big news.
So evangelical right wingers prepare to be offended because I'm going to make a lot of fun of you
because you're ridiculous.
Okay, let's get started.
The Trump administration has now announced a new rule.
In fact, they're doing away with an agreement known as the Flores.
settlement. This was a settlement from back in 1997 that set standards for migrant children
that are held in detention. Well, the Trump administration doesn't like that there are
protections for migrant children. And so they are doing away with the Flores settlement. And
what they're planning on doing is allowing for migrant children to remain in detention with
their families indefinitely. Now, the Flores settlement had capped the amount of time that
children can remain in a detention facility at 20 days.
And now we have a situation in which the administration can just hold kids in essentially
prisons, that's what they are, for an indefinite period of time.
Yes, shocking, shocking.
And now the Trump administration says, look, we got a beautiful, new, compassionate policy.
We're gonna keep the families together in prison.
So let's go to Trump.
He was asked about this during a very quick and crazy interview with reporters.
Here's what he has to say.
Here's his reasoning.
Why is it exceptional to look out Trump in death?
Well, if you remember, President Obama had separation.
President Obama built the cells.
He built the cages that you people always talk about and attribute him to me.
So President Obama had separation.
I'm the one that brought them together.
This new rule will do even more to bring them together.
So he wants to keep them in these prisons indefinitely.
Let's just be clear about that.
And we gotta be clear by something else.
Him saying Obama separated the families, just not true, total 100% lie.
The part about the detention centers and the cages slash fences and how some of those existed
under Obama is true.
So we're fair, what's the point of doing a news show if you don't give the actual truth?
So we don't like shade it and go, oh, no, no, it was all Trump about the holding cells.
But are there a lot more people in those holding cells under Trump?
Yes, okay.
And did Obama separate the families?
No, that's a flat out lie.
Trump separated the families.
Then as usual, after he broke it, he's like, oh, I'm here to fix it.
I'm here to fix it.
I'll put it back together.
And you go, okay, well, at least he fixed that error.
Then he's like, no, but my proposal is we keep them together, locked up in a prison.
Well, thank you.
Are you not merciful?
And so the courts basically said you can't do that because of the floor of settlement.
And now this is his way of trying to get around that.
So let me give you some more details on what the Department of Homeland Security is saying about this.
DHS officials said in a briefing that they have no immediate plans to increase the number of family detention beds.
Once the rule takes effect, official said, they hope to complete migrants' initial immigration
proceedings within two months, which is triple the time children are held now.
So not only will they be held for a longer period of time, I just don't believe them when
they say that they'll have these cases adjudicated within two months.
The reason why I don't believe them is because they have absolutely no intentions
to hire more immigration judges so this process can move forward a little more quickly, right?
So it's a complete lie, and I think that this is just another example of Trump going back
to his playbook and doing what he does best.
As soon as he's in trouble, because the economy is shaky, because his approval numbers
are dropping, because polls are indicating that, hey, even Republicans have to admit that Trump
is tied to the rise of domestic terror in the country, well, he's got to distract people.
He's got to remind his base why his base loves him in the first place.
And that is brutalizing people of color, brutalizing migrants, and just allowing children
to die under, you know, U.S. custody.
That's what Trump does, and that's what his base loves.
So I want to get to the politics of this in one second.
So, but let's talk about the faulty logic of this policy first real quick.
So their idea here is, well, people are encouraged to come here because they know that
since we can't keep the kids in these centers for longer than 20 days, eventually we're going
to let them out.
And so they then think that's a way to sneak into the country.
So we haven't been sufficiently tough on them.
So if we're tough on them, less people will come.
Now let's note that there are more people coming in now, crossing the border now, with
no documents and seeking asylum than there has been for over 10 years, way worse than under
Obama.
And Trump's theory is we were too soft on that.
But wait, what changed between Obama and Trump?
Trump made a huge deal about how he was tougher on immigrants, how he was gonna, they're criminals
and rapists, and he's gonna separate the kids from the families, they're gonna stay in prisons
longer.
And more people came, not less.
By the way, you know one of the reasons?
It's because Trump cut off aid to the three, as he would call, or Fox News would call them the
three Mexicos.
Yep.
The three Latin American countries and made their situation far worse, and since it was worse,
people are fleeing.
So getting tough does not work.
It's a stupid, simplistic idea, not of the politics of it.
He says, no, it's okay, I'm gonna run towards my base.
And meanwhile, Democrats hate their base.
And they're like, we would never run towards our base.
We're gonna try to get Republicans in the suburbs, et cetera.
And meanwhile, the media will say, oh, Trump, it's a terrible policy, but savvy to run towards
the base.
Okay, well, it depends, doesn't it, is how big is your base?
Democrats are always against the base, no matter how large it is, right?
But the Republicans, no matter how tiny their bases, they're like run towards it more and more.
You know what Trump's popularity on the issue of immigration is?
37%.
That's terrible, terrible.
But yet the media treats it like, oh, he might be a bad guy.
So it's not like they're giving him positive coverage in that sense.
Then they point out the kids in the cages, et cetera.
He might be a bad guy, but it's politically savvy.
No.
approval rating of 37% on any issue is the opposite of politically savvy, that's disastrous.
Well, I think the far more destructive thing that the media does, and you're right, I mean,
giving him any type of credit for political strategy is horrible, especially in this type of context.
But what they also do is they just publish the Trump administration's claims.
So the Trump administration will claim, we're doing this as a deterrent, and they'll publish that
without debunking it.
And so, you know, oftentimes people will ask us, like, do you guys consider yourselves
a journalist, right?
And it's an uncomfortable question, because when I think of a journalist, I think of someone
who's, you know, going to Afghanistan on the front lines, you know, putting themselves
in the line of danger just to get us the information we need, right?
But if these people publishing these articles online are considered journalists, I mean,
they don't even go the extra mile just to, you know, do a fact check.
This is what the administration says.
You don't have to be an advocate or an activist for any party, right?
But if a politician, regardless of which party they're from, claim something, just take a look
at what they're saying, try to fact check it, and then give the audience or the readers the
information they need.
And they're not liberal or conservative.
They have an establishment bias and a neutrality bias.
Like, oh, I don't want a big size, I don't want to tell you what's true, because then
Republicans or Democrats will lie to us.
We've earned our stripes.
We were tough on Obama as well as Trump.
We called out his record number of deportations when the rest of the press were honestly,
oh, Obama's so cool, so great and so popular, so we're not going to hold them accountable
at all.
We held them accountable.
We held them accountable on the drone strikes.
We held them accountable on the offshore drilling.
We held them accountable on all those things.
So yeah, I used to find it comical when people ask me, are you a journalist?
I say, no, I'm a talk show host, right?
But now that I've seen the comical state of journalism.
Right.
I mean, they treat Fox News as one of their colleagues.
What a bunch of, like, we make the mistake of being honest and say, we're home of progressives.
We have a progressive perspective.
We give you the reality, and then we give you context.
Then we'll give you our perspective.
Fox News is like, oh, no, we're fair and balanced.
We're just like any other news item, a news place.
And CNN and MSNBC is like, one day I could work at Fox News.
Yes, they're fair and balanced.
They're great.
They're wonderful.
They're part of news.
Oh, young Turks admits that they have a perspective.
I don't know about that.
I don't know.
So let me just give you one of the statements I came across in multiple articles.
Okay, they quoted Kevin McAleenan, who's the acting head of the Department of Homeland Security.
And this is what he said.
It went unchallenged in several reports on this story.
This rule allows the federal government to enforce immigration laws as passed by Congress
and ensures that all children in U.S. government custody are treated with dignity, respect,
and special concern for their particular vulnerability.
Okay, so does anyone believe that or buy that?
I mean, you don't even have to be politically savvy to read that statement and see red flags.
So what's the reality?
Does this administration actually care about treating children, migrant children with dignity?
No, they don't, because if you just do a little bit of digging, you'll find at least seven migrant children.
Seven migrant children have died in U.S. custody or shortly after being released under Trump's tenure,
There was one migrant child who died shortly after being released, and it was because the conditions
were so terrible, the child got incredibly sick.
Let me give you more information.
The government is not vaccinating migrant families and has no plans to do so ahead of the
next flu season.
The infection killed at least three children at detention facilities in the past year.
They don't care about the well-being of the kids.
So simply publishing what McAleenan is saying without challenging it, I think does a giant
disservice to anyone reading the publication.
So we don't want, it's not that we don't need the mainstream media to have a perspective.
I don't even want them to have a perspective, but we do want them to give context.
That is super important, no matter which party's in power and who you're covering.
So when the Trump administration says we treat children with dignity and respect and we're
wonderful to them, do not be their stenographer.
Give the context of, on the other hand, seven children have died under their custody when none
had died in previous administrations.
Okay, by the way, you could do that for Obama, too.
You could say, Obama administration says they respect due process, but they have ordered
drone strikes against American citizens without due process.
Please give that context, and I could go on and on and on.
Mitch McConnell says that the Democrats were being obstructionist, but it was the Republicans
who broke the record on filibusters when Mitch McConnell was the leader of that party
when they were in the minority.
That is such important context, otherwise you let the lie of a politician stand.
You're supposed to be a watchdog.
So given what a miserable job that they have done, I have to say, yes, not only are we journalists,
we're far better journalists than they are.
And by the way, you should support real media, t.yt.com slash join.
Places like the New York Times have gotten literally millions of subscribers by pretending that
they're gonna stand up to Trump.
That's what they're advertising implies.
And then their editors and their reporters go, under no condition, will we stand up to Trump?
We're not part of the resistance.
We will not give any context.
We will write whatever Trump says, and that is it.
t.yt.com slash join if you want the reality.
Well, let's move on to some other news today.
I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack
of knowledge or great disloyalty.
The Trump's anti-Semitic remarks from yesterday were met with quite a bit of backlash,
not only by the Jewish Americans in this country, but by those on the left who found those
types of comments absolutely disgusting.
There were also those on the right who were, I guess, courageous enough to speak out finally.
But let me give you some information about how he's handling this story today.
He has decided to do in typical Trump fashion, what he always does, double down.
Let's take a look.
The Democrats have gone very far away from Israel.
I cannot understand how they can do that.
They don't want to fund Israel, they want to take away foreign aid to Israel, they want
to do a lot of bad things to Israel.
In my opinion, you vote for a Democrat, you're being very disloyal to Jewish people and you're
being very disloyal to Israel.
And he also decided to list all the wonderful things he's done for the Jewish community.
So I have been responsible for a lot of great things for Israel.
One of them was moving the embassy to Jerusalem, making Jerusalem the capital of Israel.
One of them was the Golan Heights.
One of them, frankly, is Iran.
Iran is a very far weakened nation right now, much different.
Hopefully something works out.
We'll see if it happens, it happens.
Wait a minute, wait, wait.
No president has ever done anywhere close to what I've done.
Okay, so we're gonna get to actually more outrageous statements by him.
I mean, maybe the worst of his presidency in a second on this topic.
But I wanna point out that almost every Jewish American group in the country has condemned Trump's remarks
and has pointed out that it is anti-Semitic trope to question their loyalty, and there's only
one group that has supported the president that is in any way Jewish, as far as we can tell
right now, as things stand.
The Republican Jewish Coalition, now that's not surprising because they're Republicans.
But ironically, he's been the most anti-Semitic when talking to them.
So he once told them, no one knows how to renegotiate better than this room, okay?
I mean, trope 101, right?
And then he went on to say, well, I know you guys aren't going to vote for me.
But this was back in 2015, 2016, wait, why wouldn't they vote for you?
It's the Republican Jewish coalition.
He said, because you like to buy your politicians.
Massive anti-Semitic trope number two.
And you know, I didn't know this until today.
He apparently also told them while talking to them that when talking about Benjamin Netanyahu,
he called him your prime minister.
No, they're Americans.
Benjamin Netanyahu is not their prime minister.
And then you go on to question Jewish loyalty.
And so who are you referring to?
They're disloyal to who?
If you're saying they're disloyal to Israel, they're not Israelis, they're Americans.
But you cannot get that through your head, and that is another anti-Semitic trope, the one
that you pretended you cared about regarding Ilhan Omar, about dual loyalty, which she never
said.
But you actually did say on several occasions.
So his anti-Semitic tropes are a dime a dozen, but you know, the fake quotes about Ilhan Omar
have gotten so much more coverage than the actual quotes of Donald Trump.
But that's because he commits one atrocious, you know, he says one atrocious comment
after the other and after the other.
And in fact, the next one is overshadowing all the other anti-Semitic things he said.
Yes, but before we get to that, I actually want to talk a little bit about why I think
Ilhan Omar's statements got more attention than what Trump has been saying over the last two days.
Look, the right wing has an entire like ecosystem set up to amplify the types of stories they want to amplify
and then minimize the damage that Trump does to his own administration and to the party, right?
So, I mean, we talked about this just last Friday after a prison guard tried to run over protesters in Rhode Island, right?
So he did it, he like drove through them.
Luckily no one gets killed, no one gets, you know, severely hurt, but people had to get treated
in the hospital.
And what happens, Lou Dobbs goes on Fox business and provides cover for the prison guard
who tried to murder them by running them over.
Meanwhile, the Democrats throw Ilhan Omar under a bus.
Exactly.
Thereby validating the outrageous attacks against her.
So last thing on this, so when he questions their loyalty, it's either questioning their
loyalty to this country, which is again, an anti-Semitic trope.
or questioning their loyalty to him, right?
So he's saying either, well, you're an Israeli and Netanyahu is your prime minister,
and if you don't support Republicans, you're being disloyal to Israel,
or you're being disloyal to me, the president of this country.
Well, the people who said that in the past were, I don't care if you get it like all touchy
if you're a Republican, Mussolini said that, Hitler said that.
They said the Jews are not loyal to us, and we have to do something about it.
And then they did something about it.
And then you wonder why Jewish Americans don't vote for right-wingers.
It's not really that complicated.
About 80% of Jewish-Americans vote for Democrats because they're not right-wingers who think,
oh, yeah, you better be loyal to this country or this president.
Otherwise, there's going to be consequences.
And one other thing, you know, what prompted Trump statements yesterday, right?
The very beginning of this story.
It was Kill Mead on Fox, Fox and Friends.
who questioned why Jewish Americans have decided to vote for Democrats over Trump.
And so in his own way, he questioned the loyalty.
And then that prompted Trump to say what he said.
And then he doubles down today.
And guess what Kill Me did?
He had to defend Trump because, in essence, he's got to defend himself.
Take a look.
The president brought up yesterday, I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat,
I think it shows either a lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.
because if you compare to the two administrations and their allegiance to Israel and their alliance,
I think that by far this president has shown more of an allegiance to Israel than President Obama has.
So he thinks that somehow that doesn't turn up in the ballot box where President Trump only got 24% of the American Jewish vote.
I guess they could be voting on other things. That could be another factor.
Yeah, first of all, the fact that I've been the best president for Israel is not remotely true.
Other United States presidents literally saved Israel from getting wiped off the map.
So Truman jumped in to save Israel.
U.S. president after U.S. president has gone into the great defense of Israel.
And Obama gave Israel Iron Dome.
Overall, U.S. presidents, along with Congresses, have given Israel $140 billion.
And now Trump comes along like, oh, I'm the best for them.
And that has the audacity to say, to quote Wayne Allen Root,
And say it in his own tweet that he is the equivalent of the king of Israel and the second
coming of God.
It's disgusting.
Are there no bounds?
Are there no bounds?
And with Donald Trump, the answer is always, of course not.
Just when you think you hit the bottom of the barrel, you realize there is no bottom to that
barrel.
The guy just compared himself to Jesus Christ and declared himself the king of Israel while attacking
80% of Jews in this country, lunacy.
So let's talk about that story in a little more detail.
Right wing talk show host, Rayne, right wing talk show host, Wayne Allen Root, who's on Newsmax,
decided to talk about Donald Trump and how he's really just a giant gift to the Jewish people.
Okay, and immediately following that, Trump decided to tweet his statements, and here's what he said.
Thank you to Wayne Allen Root for the very nice words.
President Trump is the greatest president for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world,
not just America.
He is the best president for Israel in the history of the world and the Jewish people in Israel love him.
Before we go on to even more outrageous parts of that tweet as it's going to continue,
best president in history of the world, Israel's been around for 70 years.
So, and even if you say, hey, look, ancient Israel, et cetera, they didn't have presidents
back then.
So it's a preposterous statement.
And not only that, it's not remotely true.
As I've said, U.S. presidents have literally saved Israel from getting wiped off the map.
They came in to defend them militarily, et cetera, when they were attacked.
And we've come to the aid of Israel in dozens of occasions, including many wars.
So Trump come lately going around going, hey, you know, I moved the embassy.
I'm the greatest president for Israel in the history of the world.
Wayne Ellen Roots said it, and I'm quoting it.
But we haven't gotten to the worst part at all.
We haven't.
But I have one quick comment about the tweet, the first tweet.
He's the best president for Jews in America.
So was he the best president for Jews in America when he said that there were very fine people
at the hate march in Charlottesville, Virginia, who were.
literally chanting, the Jews will not replace us.
Does he really think that Jewish Americans are like, you know what, Trump's great.
He's the best president ever.
He thinks that there's some very fine Nazis who were chanting those things and at one point
had surrounded a synagogue in Charlottesville and threatening them.
He's been fantastic.
No, he's been good for the right-wing government of specifically Benjamin Netanyahu,
who has not been good for Israel.
and the great majority of Jewish Americans vote against Donald Trump and against Republicans
on a consistent basis, because they know the reality, not the lies of Donald Trump.
So the second part of his tweet reads as follows, and the Jewish people in Israel love him
like he's the king of Israel.
They love him like he's the second coming of God.
We'll come back to that in just a second.
But American Jews don't know him or like him.
They don't even know what they're doing or saying anymore.
It makes no sense, but that's okay.
If he keeps doing what he's doing, he's good for all Jews, blacks, gays, everyone.
And importantly, he's good for everyone in America who wants a job.
Wow.
So the wow is Trump.
The rest is Alan Roots quote that he is re-quoting on Twitter wholesale.
Okay, so evangelical Christians, you're still pretending, if you're a right-winger,
You're still pretending to be Christian?
Can you imagine if Barack Obama called himself the second coming of God?
Can you imagine if Obama said, I am the king of Israel?
This liberal commentator has said, I'm the king of Israel, and he's made a very brilliant
point, that is right.
And by the way, if you're a Jew in America who disagrees, you're an idiot.
Yeah, I mean, he's just straight up, he's just straight up calling Jewish people in America
who don't vote for him, stupid.
That is what he's saying.
And get a load of that irony from the dumbest president, dumbest office holder we have ever had
in this country.
Okay, so.
By the way, one real quick thing.
I wanted to go find the video of what Wayne Allen Roots said.
And I don't think that the tweets even capture how incredibly offensive and disgusting
Allen Root's comments were.
So I want to show you that video.
Let's take a quick look at that.
And then we'll give you some more analysis.
I've got friends that vote Democrat because their mother told them to 50 years ago.
And I'm like, Jesus, times and change you just need to see.
But is there a crack of Hope Barney or any of those friends whose mother told them to vote Democrat 50 years ago?
Any of them switching because they've seen the light with Trump?
They won't even watch.
They won't even consider it.
They won't even consider it.
Amazing.
I think their brain did.
They're blind deaf and very much.
They're blind deaf and very dumb.
Blind deaf and very dumb.
Don't forget, I don't know, if you haven't watched the show,
I happen to be Jewish by birth, and 75% of all Jews vote Democrat.
And they don't like Trump.
And this is the greatest president for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world.
Not just America.
Trump's the best president for Israel in the history of the world.
And the Jewish people love him like he is the king of Israel.
They love him like he is the second coming of God.
So I'm Jewish by birth, but all the Jews in America are,
Seventy-five percent of them are morons and they've been brainwashed, hilarious.
So look guys, Trump said he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and his followers wouldn't mind.
If you're a real Christian, this is on that level when someone is so full of pride that they compare
themselves to Jesus Christ and they say they're the second coming of God.
If a Democrat dared to do this, you know it, and I don't care how right wing you are.
You know that if Obama or Clinton or anybody had done this, that you would have gone
ballistic.
Imagine if Hillary Clinton said that she was the king of Israel and the second coming of God.
And wrote that in a tweet like, yeah, well, of course, this guy said it, and that's right.
That's me, right?
Wow, yes, right?
You would have gone nuts, you would have gone ballistic.
But it's Trump, what are you gonna do?
You're gonna forgive it and move on.
is you don't really care about Christianity.
You don't care at all about Christianity.
You're like, who do we hate, who do we hate?
You hate the same people I hate?
That's all that right wing evangelical Christianity is devolved into in this country.
Does that mean it's all evangelical Christians?
No, Jimmy Carter's an evangelical Christian, there's still wonderful progressive evangelical
Christians and they are some of the best people in the country helping the poor, the
homeless, the needy, etc.
But the right wing evangelicals, who do we hate, who do we hate, who do we hate, who do we hate?
Oh, Trump hates the same people as me.
Of course, second coming of God, that's the right thing.
A real Christian would be all about prosperity gospel.
You know, when Jesus came into the temple, he found the money changers and said, good job,
make more money, let's kick out the homeless together, right?
And then he spit on the homeless.
I mean, what kind of insane, bizarre Christianity is this?
Oh, everyone needs to watch the family on Netflix, because it exists.
And they have deep roots in various countries, and they have a tremendous amount of influence.
And they take religion, they take Christianity, and they interpret it in such a way where it justifies things like the income and wealth inequality that we're experiencing in America today.
And all the prosperity preachers flying around in their jets and say, oh, well, of course, God doesn't want me to fly with a bunch of demons like you guys, regular people.
That's what Jesus came to do is spit on regular people, right?
In the Bible it says it's harder for a rich man to get into heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.
But these guys don't really care about the Bible.
These right-wing evangelicals, I think that they actually don't even like the Bible.
I think that if they read the Bible, they might be shocked by it.
We're supposed to help the needy and the bore and the homeless?
And the rich people aren't going to go to heaven?
What kind of crap is this?
Right?
So you're not real Christians.
And by the way, the only thing you hang on to in the Bible is abortion, abortion,
which is never mentioned in the Bible.
Never mentioned except the one part, of course, in numbers where God,
is in favor of abortions.
Look it up, look it up, look it up.
Anyways, so if you're a real Christian that believes in the sermon on the Mount, you would be
deeply offended by what Trump said.
If you're a fake Christian, like right-wing evangelicals, and you're just looking to hate
someone and that's what your identity is based around, you love Trump, and there's nothing
he can say, well, correction, if he all of a sudden turn around and said, you know what,
I actually kind of like the Muslims and the Latinos, you'd be like, I bet you that's the one
thing. He could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue. He can claim to be the second coming of God.
That ain't going to do it. If all of a sudden he said, you know what, we should be open-hearted
to Muslims and accept them in this country. We should be open-hearted to Latino immigrants who are
struggling in their own countries and accept them in this country. Boom, God. His support
would erode overnight. Right-wing evangelical Christians in this country have become a cult of
hate. And that's all that they're centered around. You see this kind of offensive stuff and you
still support Trump. You're a joke. You're a total and utter joke.
We need to talk about a relatively new show called Un-F-The-Republic, or UNFTR.
As a Young Turks fan, you already know that the government, the media, and corporations
are constantly peddling lies that serve the interests of the rich and powerful.
But now there's a podcast dedicated to unraveling those lies, debunking the conventional
wisdom. In each episode of Un-F-The-Republic, or UNFTR, the-R,
The host delves into a different historical episode or topic that's generally misunderstood or purposely obfuscated by the so-called powers that be.
Featuring in-depth research, razor-sharp commentary, and just the right amount of vulgarity,
the UNFTR podcast takes a sledgehammer to what you thought you knew about some of the nation's most sacred historical cows.
But don't just take my word for it.
The New York Times described UNFTR as consistently compelling and educational.
aiming to challenge conventional wisdom and upend the historical narratives that were taught in school.
For as the great philosopher Yoda once put it,
You must unlearn what you have learned.
And that's true whether you're in Jedi training,
or you're uprooting and exposing all the propaganda and disinformation
you've been fed over the course of your lifetime.
So search for UNFDR in your podcast app today,
and get ready to get informed, angered, and entertained all at the same time.
All right, back on a young Turks, lots of great quotes here, comments.
V. Hine 625 on the comment section, and I should say in the member section said, I feed my dog
at 6 p.m. every night, so he always perks up when the TYT theme song comes on.
Oh, can you do a video and send it to us?
Oh, that would be awesome, that's right.
That would make me really happy.
Okay, send it to our website, tyt.com.
And I love that we have literally created a Pavlovian reaction to the young Turks.
Hangary Skywalker says, so I finished my 13 year military career this past Sunday.
The best part is no longer serving under such an embarrassment of a leader.
Trump really took a lot of the pride I had in the country.
Don't worry, hangary.
We're going to get him back, okay, we're going to get that pride back, and we're going to get
America back.
Kira Jade says, and why would I want to be loyal to Israel?
When I'm an American, you expect me to have dual loyalty, doesn't sound very patriotic
to me, but Anna and I were just talking off air, like when he says to Jewish Americans,
your prime minister at Netanyahu, he doesn't even know he's being offensive because he's such
an idiot.
He's like, what do you mean, they're Jews?
So of course they care about Israel, not America, what do you mean?
What happened to America first?
I know, God, he's such an idiot.
All right, Megan Carter says, Jimmy Carter brought peace in the Middle East and that was not good
for the Jewish people, right?
I mean, you want to talk about the best president for Israel?
It was Jimmy Carter.
He literally took away their, well, it was Truman because he saved him.
Okay, but after that, it was Jimmy Carter because he took away their worst enemy and made him an ally.
Not that Donald writes in on Twitter.
Any true Christian knows that calling yourself king of Israel is blasphemy, the unforgivable sin.
Punishment is stoning.
They tried stoning Jesus twice before his crucifixion for saying that he was the king of Israel.
So that's such a great point.
And I wish I made that in the video.
Thank you for writing that in.
But again, that's why we do the show together.
And last one, the collective miscellaneous says, not only is the young Turks a shunning
example of journalism, it is one of the only news sources left out there that aren't as corrupted
by the current political system as the officials.
They're meant to hold accountable.
Thank you guys.

Super last thing. I'm going to be on Cuomo tonight at the top of the show at nine o'clock
Eastern. And I'm in a raging mood. So that should be a blast. So check out CNN tonight at
9 o'clock. All right, what's next? All right, I received the news that President Trump
has canceled his state visit to Denmark on the 2nd and 3rd September.
That is the Danish prime minister announcing that Donald Trump will not be visiting Denmark.
Now, the queen of Denmark had invited Donald Trump and his wife Melania, but he has decided
that he's no longer going to attend. Trump called off the September 2nd to the 3rd visit
after Fredrickson called, that's the prime minister, called his idea of the United States
purchasing Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, rich and natural resources, absurd.
Now, that word, absurd, also triggered.
Why just survive back to school when you can thrive by creating a space that does it all for you,
no matter the size? Whether you're taking over your parents' basement or moving to campus,
IKEA has hundreds of design ideas and affordable options to complement any budget.

Our special little snowflake, take a look.
It was an opportunity, I think, to celebrate Denmark's close relationship to U.S.
who remains one of Denmark's closest allies.
I was looking forward.
So that was the Danish prime minister again.
Now let's take a look at Donald Trump having a temper tantrum like he usually does.
Now Denmark, I looked forward to going, but I thought that the prime minister's statement
that it was absurd, that it was an absurd idea, it was nasty, I thought it was an inappropriate
statement.
All she had to do is say, no, we wouldn't be interested.
I thought it was a very not nice way of saying something.
They could have told me no.
All they had to do is say, no, we'd rather not do that, or we'd rather not talk about it.
Don't say what an absurd idea that is.
She said, absurd.
That's not the right word to use.
Absurd.
The prime minister used a terrible word when describing something that we've been talking about for years with our country.
You don't talk to the United States that way.
at least under me.
And I thought it was not a nice statement the way she blew me off.
This child is the president of the United States.
It's absurd.
You don't use a word like that, absurd.
You don't, well, that's true.
She can't handle women rejecting him.
Oh, God, he's so pathetic.
It's absurd.
Look, and if you're a follower, Riz, you're so pathetic.
This little boy who gets triggered anytime a woman says no.
And he's like, it's absurd.
You can't use a very not nice word.
He literally said that's a very not nice word.
He tells it like it is, Chang.
And so we canceled a diplomatic trip to Denmark, to Denmark because the president's feelings
were hurt.
I thought the facts didn't care about your feelings.
So right before the prime minister announced that he will not be showing up, there were
other politicians and the former Danish premier, Lars.
Lach Rasmussen said the following of Donald Trump wanting to buy Greenland, it must be an April
Fool's Day joke, right?
So everyone- That's not a very not nice sentence, very not nice, I don't like that.
My feelings have been heard.
I'm not going to go to Denmark, I'm going to go to a safe space.
So here's my question before we go on to other politicians clowning Trump.
Now that Denmark really understands how unhinged Trump is, if 2-2-2-2-2, God forbid, he gets re-elected,
will they be more open to American refugees?
Because it's really hard to go to Denmark and get accepted there.
They have very strict immigration laws.
Well, Greenland, we now found out, only has 56,000 people on it.
And because of climate change, they've got a lot of new land that's opened up.
It's so cold there, though.
I know it's cold in Denmark, too.
Well, now there's raging fires, so at least in the summer it's hot.
So anyway, seriously, that's super depressing for the planet.
Yes.
So let me give you some more comments.
Now, even right-wing politicians in Denmark are clowning Trump, which I find fascinating.
So Sorin Esperson, who is from the Danish People's Party, he's the leader of that party.
And again, this is a right-wing group, says Trump's cancellation is very, very shocking when it is about a very close ally and a good friend.
So even right wingers in other countries are realizing this guy is crazy, unhinged, has no idea what he's doing.
I mean, to cancel a trip because you can't have your way with Greenland is something that he referred to as a real estate deal.
I mean, it's insulting to the people who live in Greenland to say the least.
And like with what money, Trump?
Okay, so, yeah, well, he'll just add to the deficit like he always does.
If you notice, he actually said, he didn't, not in that clip, but in talking about this overall,
he said, now, the Danish people are a very good people.
I just didn't like the comment that their leader made.
Now, why does he say that?
They're northern Europeans.
So they're good people, not like the people in the southern hemisphere, okay?
And so he had to throw that in there, okay?
And by the way, it's not like it's Russia or anything, one of his closest allies.
Like, he's had a lot of issues with Northern Europe politically, but, and when normally,
when he has issues politically with people, he insults them to no end.
But he's like, no, no, no, get me wrong.
Those very white people up in Northern Europe are fantastic people.
I just don't like the meany words that their leader used against me.
So look, aside from the back and forth and the high school drama that we experience
with Trump on a regular basis, there are ramifications because think about how he's alienated
so many of our allies through a nonsensical trade war that isn't really well thought out,
through antagonizing our NATO allies.
And then in this case, I mean, he has gone after Denmark in the past.
He believes that Denmark should contribute more to NATO.
But in this case, you have politicians in the country saying, we can't really rely on the United
States.
We probably shouldn't even really deal with them right now and focus on our European allies
instead. In fact, let me give you the exact statement. This is from Morton Ostergard. He is the leader
of the Social Liberal Party, and he says it shows why we now, more than ever, should consider
fellow European Union countries as our closest allies. The man is unpredictable. Reality
surpasses imagination. That's true. So two things about that. Guys, it's not just about Trump.
When Trump does this, it affects America for decades on end. Because other countries rightfully think,
Okay, maybe now Elizabeth Warren is president and we have a stable person to deal with as we did under Obama, et cetera, right?
But how do we know you're not going to elect another moron like Trump soon?
Because the American people apparently are comfortable electing people who are incredibly stupid.
And so we, and it's a democracy.
And on any given year, a Republican can win.
And the last two Republicans have blasted the world.
George W. Bush created anarchy and chaos in the Middle East with that disastrous Iraq war,
and then created a global recession.
I mean, so N was also incredibly stupid.
Don't forget how dumb George Bush was.
I read three Shakespeare and a Camus, right?
So, I mean, you forget how dumb Bush was because this guy overshadows him.
He's like an eclipse in stupidity, right?
And it just eclipses everything else and blocks out the sun with it, how unintelligent he is.
Which leads me to my second point, within 24 hours, he cancels a diplomatic trick to Denmark
because they wouldn't sell Greenland to him and called him a very not nice word.
And he calls himself to King of Israel and the Second Coming of God.
And the cabinet has not assembled for discussion of the 25th Amendment?
Oh, you think the cabinet's going to do that, Jen?
He's surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men.
Yeah, so last night I came to a realization that it's not just that Trump is both hideous
and preposterously stupid.
It's that the media is gaslighting us by not saying it.
They're having a debate over it.
So it's almost like an abusive partner saying like, hey, no, no, you're the one who took
the crazy pill.
I see a guy who might be perfectly sane.
Oh my God, you're so right.
It feels like you're in a relationship with a partner who's cheating on you and you know it, right?
You see the lipstick on the collar and you have a lipstick on the collar.
Right?
But then there's the third party who's supposed to be like the arbiter of the truth.
And they're like, I don't know what you're talking about.
What lipstick?
Yeah.
And they're like, let's have a debate over the lipstick.
Right.
And you're like, it's right there.
It's crazy.
The guy called himself the second coming of God.
And media's like, let's have a debate.
It's gaslighting the whole country.
That's why people are so frustrated.
It's not just that Trump's a bad guy, it's that they won't say the emperor has no clothes.
The emperor has no mind.
What kind of a lunatic when he's president calls himself the king of Israel?
If anybody else had done that, everyone would agree.
If Obama had done it, Republicans and Democrats would both say, no way.
Imagine for a second if Bernie Sanders did it.
in media would immediately say he must get out of the race, he must get out.
Who says he, Bernie Sanders said he's the second coming of God, can you imagine?
And he would be tarred and feathered and taken out of town.
But when it's Trump, I don't know, he said, she said, let's have a debate about it.
You're the crazy one if you think that he's mentally unstable.
If you know for sure.
Yes, no, but I do know for sure.
Someone who says that there's second coming of God and cancels a trip to Denmark because
they wouldn't show me Greenland and they called me a naughty one.
Word, that's a lunatic, that's a mentally unstable person.
And if you don't say so, you're not objective.
You're doing political correctness to cover for the insanity of the Republican Party.
Yeah, you have your blinders on and they're not even peeky blinders.
I don't know where that came up.
I don't know either, but it was kind of fun.
All right, we gotta go.
We gotta take one more break in this hour.
And when we come back, we're gonna do a deep dive into the economy.
are a lot of updates that are important. And then later in the show, we will talk about
the Amazon rainforest. It's on fire. I want to give you the details on that and more.

Back on a young Turks, Meg says, absurd, Trump is the world's biggest baby.
No other country has a bigger baby.
Tremendous, sad.
Okay.
Ojam, right, said, and these are all members.
Notice Trump calling her nasty, kind of like every single other woman who gets under his skin.
That's a great point.
He said about the mayor of San Juan as well.
Look, he has an issue with women disagreeing with him or telling him no, right?
Mm-hmm.
And I can't help but remember what his own ex-wife wrote in her book about what he did to her, right?
How he allegedly raped her.
Mm-hmm.
Anyway, I just feel like a guy who reacts that way to a woman saying no, it says something about him.
100%.
All right, just last two comments here.
Verne says, quote, quote, diaper Donald, fine, keep your stupid Greenland.
Like, I don't even care.
Greenland's dumb.
I love our viewers.
Yes.
I actually like TYT live to talk to us during the show on Twitter or become a member at tyt.com
slash join.
I'm going to read one last member's comment.
Toronto Peter says, regarding Greenland Gate, both the mainstream media and TYT have not put
two and two together.
Trump is undertaking a very dangerous mission to put walls up between the USA and NATO allies
at every chance he can and before each and every diplomatic meeting.
Why?
Ask Putin.
So I don't, look, I don't know if I buy that.
I think that, okay.
I buy both, don't get me wrong.
Yes, look, I'm sorry I interrupted, but Greenland, he actually is genuinely mad that that
a woman dared to call him absurd.
No, no, but.
But he also, from day one, has attacked NATO.
day in and day out.
He's not smart enough to do a concerted strategy unless someone told him to.
That's true, but one other thing I want to add is Greenland, because of climate change,
is a very desirable, you know, country to own, because as the ice melts, there are natural
resources that countries like the United States, Russia, China would like to rape.
Like, let's just keep it real, that's what they want to do.
And so they see dollar signs, they see an opportunity with how they're exacerbating climate
change.
So I think that that financial motive is really front and center.
Yeah, guys, I want to remind you two quick things.
One, tomorrow for the post game, we're gonna have it live and free available for everyone.
That's the last half hour of the young Turks.
And we're gonna take only questions and comments from YouTube super chat, okay?
So please participate in that.
And tonight, speaking of Greenland, top of Chris Cuomo's show.
At 9 o'clock Eastern, me versus Kaylee McEnany on Greenland and whether Trump's an anti-Semite.
Get ready for an absolute explosion.
Drag her.
So don't miss that tonight, Cuomo primetime at 9 o'clock Eastern.
All right, what's next?
Well, the Trump administration continues to claim publicly that the economy is doing well,
it's very strong.
Privately, individuals like Mick Mulvaney are telling their donors, yeah, there might be a recession soon,
But it'll be quick and moderate.
Let me give you the exact report and what it says.
Acting White House chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, speaking at a GOP fundraising luncheon
in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this week, acknowledged to a group of donors that there is a possibility
the U.S. will be in a recession in 2020.
Mulvaney told the crowd of roughly 50 Republican donors that if a recession occurred, it would
be moderate and short.
Now, again, this is what's going on behind closed doors.
I love that this was reported because we see what's going on.
I mean, we know if you do a deep dive into what's really going on in the economy, it's
actually not strong, but they're trying to warn their donors, and they also want to tell
their donors, don't worry, we got a game plan in place, so you'll be taken care of.
We'll get to that in just a second, but I just want to show you how Larry Cudlow and Donald
Trump have handled this publicly.
Majority of the people in the White House at the level that does this kind of thing, they like indexing.
So it is something I'm thinking about.
Payroll taxes, I've been thinking about payroll taxes for a long time, whether or not we do it now or not is, it's not being done because of recession.
Because we are legitimately, if we had a cut in interest rates by the Fed, if they would do their job properly, and if they would do a meaningful,
cut because they raised too fast, you would see growth like you've not seen ever in this country.
So Jake and I talked about how the Trump administration is eyeing more cuts, tax cuts.
And the way that Trump is presenting this publicly is, look, don't worry about a thing.
Like, there's no recession coming.
We're just looking at these, you know, the index situation, which we'll talk about in just a second.
We're looking at payroll tax cuts.
We're just looking to stimulate the economy.
And he also always adds the part about how interest rates are too high, even though if the economy
is doing really well as they claim, there's no reason to cut interest rates.
It makes no sense.
And he keeps crying about how Jerome Powell won't cut the interest rates even further than he already
has.
That's a great point, Anna.
You can't have it both ways.
I mean, look, this would require Trump to know anything about anything.
But if you know anything about the economy, if you're claimed that the economy's booming is correct,
well, then you should actually increase interest rates because you'd be worried about inflation,
not decrease interest rates.
You do want to decrease interest rates if you're worried that the economy is not doing well
and you need to stimulate the economy, otherwise you're going to hit a recession.
Now, we just told you, they're telling their donors, partly like, hey, watch that guys.
We're not, we're telling the public that everything is fine, but you guys are rich and you support us.
So we're telling you the reality.
A recession is coming.
But don't worry, don't worry, it's just going to be minor.
It's moderate recession, et cetera.
And then I love Trump's like, we're thinking of doing a payroll tax cut for no reason.
Yeah.
Out of nowhere, right?
No, payroll tax cut, as we talked about yesterday, actually gives money to the employees.
Even the Republicans and the right-wingers know that's the only real way to stimulate
the economy.
But they're talking to donors too, so they're like, okay.
And by the way, we're thinking of cutting corporate taxes by one or
two points again.
Boom, exactly.
Why?
What does that have to do with anything?
Even economists, even right-leaning economists are like, wait, how would that help the economy
in the short term?
That doesn't make any sense.
No, it's just one last bribe, just in case the recession comes and they don't get reelected.
Here's one last gift, because they love doing giveaways to their donors.
And I also want to just quickly talk about the indexing that he brought up early in that clip.
So this has to do with capital gains taxes, right?
And you've explained it before, Jank, and I think you do it pretty well.
So can you just elaborate on what that means?
So if you have a job, you pay income tax on it.
Those income taxes are at a higher rate for the, especially on the upper brackets, than capital
gains.
Capital gains is brought down to 20% even lower in some instances in some years.
And capital gains is just when you, the money you make from investing the money you already
have. So it greatly advantages the people who are already wealthy. If you don't have a big amount
of money that you're investing, capital gains ain't going to help you at all because you have
no investment income. You only have the income from your hard work. So they charge you more taxes
for your hard work and less taxes for the people investing their money. Exactly.
And they claim, no, no, this is great for the economy because it'll lead to more
investments and more saving. But more saving doesn't help the economy. Recirculating the money
in the economy, immediately spending it on goods, manufactured goods, products, etc., is what
stimulates the economy, and they know it, that's why they're considering the payroll tax now.
The rest of it is just a giveaway to their donors.
Exactly.
And look, I want to give you a quote from one of the spineless White House advisors who spoke
to the press anonymously.
And I say spineless because this person did speak to the press anonymously.
And apparently isn't really doing much in advising the Trump administration when it comes
to economic decisions.
The quote is in graphic four, people do not vote on numbers.
They vote on whether they feel good and the president understands that.
He is selling the feeling.
It is like any other sales pitch.
He is constantly trying to play off people's feelings and emotions on the economy.
So this individual acknowledges that if you really do a deep dive in the numbers, right?
You'll see that the economy is in trouble.
So they always bring out the low or bring up the low unemployment rate.
But just ask the natural follow-up question, what is the quality of those jobs?
Are they full-time jobs?
Or are they part-time and temporary jobs?
Do they pay a living wage or do they pay, you know, starvation wages?
So Americans have taken on more consumer debt than ever before, and it's because what they're
getting paid, their wages are not keeping up with inflation.
And so things have gotten more expensive, they have to pay for their kids schooling, they
have to pay for childcare, all of these things that the government actually used to help
the average American with, and now they don't help at all, not at all.
At this point, all of the giveaways and all the wealth floats to the top.
Exactly right.
And then the second part of that quote is also just as important.
That's what con men do.
They play to your emotions and they hide the facts so that you'll say, well, I mean, Donald Trump
told me I was going to be really rich, I'm going to be a millionaire if I go to Trump
University. Now, is that true? Is there anything in the curriculum that would help you in real
estate? No. It's all about playing to the emotions. So Trump's been doing this his whole life.
And these tax cuts are going to be disastrous. The first round of tax cuts, two trillion dollars
for the wealthiest Americans, was damaging enough. But according to the Congressional Budget
Office, because of these tax cuts and because of the increased spending by the Trump
administration, the CBO found that the federal deficit is expected to balloon $809 billion more
than previously thought due to legislative packages passed by Congress and signed into law by
Donald Trump.
Now, some might argue, well, it was passed by Congress, but remember, yes, you should definitely
go after Congress for some of these spending decisions, especially when it comes to increased
spending for the military.
But these are things that Trump has been pressuring for.
So he's spending like crazy and also cutting taxes like crazy for the wealthy.
Yeah, so this is why we do predictions ahead of time on the Young Turks.
We told you when Trump got into office, they will not balance the budget, they will make
the deficit worse, and they will balloon the debt.
Why?
Because they're gonna do tax cuts.
I remember when I debated Ben Shapiro Politicon, and one of the claims he made is, oh,
the tax cuts won't get passed.
I said, apparently you don't know anything about politics.
No, the one thing I can guarantee you is that the tax cuts will get passed, because that's what all the donors want.
The Republican donors want it and Democratic donors want.
It's going to pass easily.
Guess who was right about that?
And I told you that ahead of time so you know why it happened when it happens.
Because we have bribery in this country.
It's been legalized.
All the donors are wealthy.
They all want tax cuts.
And they don't give a damn about the deficit.
The only reason they ever talk about the deficit is so they can cause Social Security, Medicare, and anything that might help to,
average American, and then say, go, oh, my God, college for your kids, don't have money.
Health care for your kids, we don't have money, when in reality they gave it all to the rich.
You know, Obama cut the deficit in half.
He brought it from $1.2 trillion under Bush to about $600 billion.
Now what has Trump done brought it back up over a trillion two years in a row, just like we told
you he would, because it isn't about the deficit.
They don't mind the deficits at all.
Right now, do you know how bad the deficit is going to get over the next 10 year period?
It is going to be, the debt is going to be 95% of our gross domestic product.
It used to be 79.
It's going to skyrocket 95% of GDP.
They don't care.
The only thing they ever cared about was protecting and serving the rich.
When we come back, we will discuss truckers who voted for Trump.
Oh, I love this story.
