I'm Anna Kasparian, joining us today, because it's Wednesday, is John Ida Rola, host of damage report, a TYT network favorite among the audience.
Starting point is 00:01:30 And one of my favorites. Hey, John. Aw, I mean, I didn't care about that first part, but it's one of your favorites. Oh, that's awesome. Thank you. I appreciate that. It's top five for me. You know, there's others I like more, but it's okay. Anyway, I'm just joking. I'm so happy to be doing the show with you. I'm back in the studio now alone, which is kind of creepy, but someday you're going to be back, and those are going to be good days. Yes. Someday I will be back. That's true. That part is 100% true. So look, for those of you who are watching right now, you might be thinking, what can I do to support my favorite new show? Well, the best way you can do it, one of the best ways you can do it is by sharing this stream. John has all sorts of gimmicks with his show that we're trying to basically steal from. And so you like to show dogs, like your dog or your guest dogs, if you're
Starting point is 00:02:28 enough people share the stream or like the stream. And we might just, I don't really feel like brainstorming. We might just literally steal that idea. And you know what, if we get enough people to like and share the stream, the best is yet to come. So if you guys want to see Charlie, I will show Charlie. I will whore out my dog, okay, for some likes. I'm going to like, I'm just keep it over here.
Starting point is 00:02:56 right now. I love it. I love it. We have some other announcements. So let me just note and let's get this all done right at the top of the show. And finally, yes, I don't know if I want to say fortunately, but yes, we're covering the RNC.
Starting point is 00:03:45 And tonight I will be covering the RNC with my good friend and colleague Emma Viglin. So please tune in live at 5.30 p.m. Pacific time, 8.30 p.m. Eastern. And I promise we will make the whole process bearable, entertaining, and fun. And informative. So don't miss it. All right. Now let's talk about the devastation happening in the country right now, including the brutal violence that took place in Wisconsin last night. So two protesters in connection. And two, the Jacob Blake demonstrations were shot and killed by a 17 year old suspect who luckily has finally been placed in custody and is facing serious charges, including first degree manslaughter. Now he was seen in multiple videos carrying a rifle, brandishing the rifle.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And before we go to some of the graphic videos, and I do want to warn you, the videos are graphic of what happened last night. I do want to give you some context. So as the Hill reported, gunfire erupted just before midnight leading to a chaotic scene. Videos showed a crowd chasing one person suspected of being involved. No arrests had reportedly been made that night. Now luckily the story was updated today to indicate that the 17 year old suspect has been placed in custody. But police have reportedly identified the suspect and hope to make the arrest soon. Again, that's outdated. This person has been arrested as of this morning. Now, we're going to show you what the scene looked like. And again, I want to warn you that the video is graphic. It's awful to watch. But it gives you a sense of the violence that took place against the demonstrators just last night. Take a look. What is going to move, what are you do?
Starting point is 00:05:50 All right. A lot of them. Get us out. Let me. Keep on this way. Keep on this war! Keep on this war! Keep on this one!
Starting point is 00:06:20 He just got him. He just shot them. He just shot them. Hey, dude right here, just shot them. Who right here just sat on them down there? That dude just shot for my gun! That dude right here! Someone in here!
Starting point is 00:06:58 Someone in here! Someone in here? Someone in here straight ahead? Yeah! Get out of the road. Get out of the road. Get down there. So there was a militia, an armed militia present.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Right now it's unclear whether the suspect was involved with the militia, although one could, I think, suspect that he was. But that hasn't been confirmed yet. The 17-year-old suspect is Kyle Rittenhouse. House and he's from Lake County, Illinois. It was reported this morning that he was taken into custody. One of the reporters from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel tweeted that Kyle Renton House, written house from Antioch, Illinois was arrested in Illinois related to the Kenosha shooting. He will be charged with first degree intentional homicide.
Starting point is 00:08:11 So, but what was really jarring John from the video that we just watched was, How he calmly approached the authorities. He calmly approached the cops with his hands up. You hear the crowd screaming and shouting that he was the person who fired those bullets. And in that moment, the cops did absolutely nothing. He was able to leave that night. He was a free man that night. And I'm lucky there's, you know, I guess a tiny bit of justice today. But it's just amazing. I mean, it's not amazing. I'm not going to say it's amazing how he was treated versus how every other black person, black man we've seen has been treated by cops. But it's infuriating. It's infuriating to see this over and over and over again. Yeah, and to see, I mean, we've watched people who got near cops at protests get just carted away or arrested or just casually tear gas will be shot at them. This guy, someone is shouting, he just shot people and he's got a rifle and they didn't stop him. Like he got in his car and he drove home after all of that. He fled from the multiple murders that he had just committed and the
Starting point is 00:09:25 cops didn't seem to care at all. And we know why. Like we saw, I don't remember if it was in California or if it was in Seattle. I remember at one point there was some sort of disturbance where there was a black family that owned like a convenience store or something like that. And they called the cops because someone was doing something. And the cops came and they arrested the family. That was the family hadn't done anything. But it was, yeah, okay. So thank you. They just, they just assume, obviously, this is the sort of person that's causing some sort of problem. So they arrest that family, you know, if it's the, the incident that sparked these protests, the guy is trying to do the right thing. He's trying to break up a fight. No, he's so suspicious that if he makes one wrong move, we're going to shoot him seven times in the back. This guy's got a rifle. People are shouting. He just shot people. The thing that they're coming to respond to, you know, they had their lights blaring, they're like their bodies, like they know that people were just shot, but they think he couldn't
Starting point is 00:10:20 possibly be involved or, and there's a lot of reasons to believe, they know about the militia activity in this area. They're giving them, they're talking to them, they're paling around with them, they're giving them drinks and stuff like that. And so they let him go. And he just walks away. Thankfully, because people were filming it, he was tracked down very fast. Even last night, there was reason to believe that it was this individual. But if they hadn't been filming it, we'd have nothing because the cops didn't do their job because this guy was white. Yeah. And more importantly, you know, what you mentioned about the cops palling around with the armed militia group prior to the shooting gives you a hint at who the cops favor in this case and who they see
Starting point is 00:11:06 as the enemies, right? So I'll get to that militia group in just a second, but I also want to just fill in a few details about who this 17 year old is. Again, his name is Kyle Rittenhouse. He is not from Wisconsin. He is from Illinois. He's being extradited from Illinois to Wisconsin to face these criminal charges. And just a quick look at his social media posts, makes it clear that he is not very complimentary toward these protesters, does not believe in causes like Black Lives Matter, but certainly does believe in causes like Blue Lives Matter because he is, you know, obviously posting pro cop stuff on his Facebook page. But more importantly, he wanted to be a cop himself. And so he really saw from what I've noticed on his social media, the cops to be the
Starting point is 00:11:57 victims in what's happening in the country right now, which really blows my mind, which by the way, would make it kind of clear why cops would favor armed militias who are there to antagonize the protesters. And we saw some evidence of that. So, you know, as Reuters reported, social media videos show crowds in Kenosha chasing the gunman down the street after they believed he had shot another man. The gunman falls to the ground where he comes under attack, but he fires a number of rounds appearing to hit a man in the torso who falls to the ground and seriously wounding another man in the arm. So by the way, one other person, two people died because of this 17 year old. One other person was critically wounded. He's expected to live luckily.
Starting point is 00:12:43 We don't know the identities of the victims here, but we do know that the two individuals who died are 26 years old and 36 years old. And if you look at some of the videos that have been posted on social media, you can see evidence of the cops palling around with the armed group. Let's take a look at one of them. We're protecting from the citizens and I just got pepper spray by a person in the crowd. So you had non-lethal, but you didn't respond? We don't have non-lethal. So you guys are full on ready to defend the property?
Starting point is 00:13:25 Yes, we are. Okay, so I apologize, that's just a video of the 17 year old explaining why he was there. And there was a militia group known as the Kenosha Guard, a group identifying itself as a local militia on Facebook, and they posted a message warning authorities ahead of time that they would be present on city streets. Now that post was later taken down, Facebook disabled their Facebook page because it went against the Facebook guidelines. And so, but we do have a screenshot of what that post looked like. It was promoted by Info Wars because of course it was. And you know, it says armed citizens to protect
Starting point is 00:14:06 our lives and property. And, you know, for them, you show up with guns, you're looking to use those guns. And unfortunately, people have lost their lives as a result of this madness and nonsense. The Facebook page actually had 3,000 followers on it. As I mentioned, it's since been taken down, but this whole, you know, event by the militia group, the call to arms was promoted by Info Wars. And when you show up with the intention of antagonizing protesters, with your weapons, brandishing your weapons like that, you're looking for trouble. And that's exactly what happened. Well, or to be fair, he said, you know, he was there to defend his property. So that 17-year-old from Illinois, what property exactly did he own in Kenosha?
Starting point is 00:14:55 None. None, actually. And so we're supposed to not imply that in any way, right-wing media is responsible for telling people they're coming for your, they're coming for your family, they're coming for your property, you have to defend yourself, and then plucking people like the McCloskey's out and putting them on the RNC only because they waived a gun at a bunch of peaceful protesters. Does anyone believe that if right wing media hadn't been doing all of that for the past few months that this individual would have been in Kenosha that they would have been at this protest? Nobody thinks that. And that's exactly why they did it. They're hoping that insane 17 year olds
Starting point is 00:15:33 like this will go to Kenosha and other cities like it with a gun to kill people. And immediately after it happened last night, before we had many of the details, all of the right wingers you'd expect we're defending the shooting. As we got more details, I had like a 10% inclination to think, well, this is going to be kind of hard to defend. But no, they are. You know, Jesse Waters on Fox was saying, you know, you're just, you're going to get this sort of vigilante thing when there's chaos in the streets and there's mobs. We didn't do anything. You know, I'm not telling people that they need to defend their property or anything. And the Matt Walsh's and all the other daily caller, daily wire people are saying it was just self-defense. This guy who was fleeing
Starting point is 00:16:13 from a murder he just committed gets to defend himself if people try to detain him. People who might have a reason to believe perhaps that this guy wouldn't be stopped by the cops. And he wasn't. Like thank God they tried to detain him and got enough of an identification on film. But no, they were defending him last night. Now that they know who it is, they're still defending him. This guy is going to become a hero to the right because he went to a place that he had no reason to be. He brought a gun and he murdered people. He's a terrorist. He's a demand. He's a He's a domestic terrorist, and for that reason, he's going to be a hero on the right and might already be. Well, you know, there is some evidence of the cops colluding with a terrorist, a domestic terrorist in this country.
Starting point is 00:16:56 So let's take a look at some of the other videos that surfaced following the violence last night. Now we're all the way back by the gas station again. We need water. We need water. We'll throw anyone. Thank you. All right, come, guys. Let's get out of here.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Damn. You're all here. All right? Thank you. We're right. You're right out. We're out. Yes, you.
Starting point is 00:17:28 You are civilian. Your is close to them. You're trespassing. Wade. Read now. Hey, now. You're rolling up here. All consider, and you?
Starting point is 00:17:41 We got a couple. We got to save a couple, but we'll give you a couple. We appreciate you guys, we really do. We appreciate you guys, we really do. The cops passing out water bottles to the armed militia group, who they really appreciate. And the terrorists marching around. And the terrorists, yeah, exactly, very close to the, go ahead. Yeah, it's just really fast.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Like for those guys, they give them water, you remember when like peaceful protesters the cops were coming in and destroying the supplies of water and medical equipment, you couldn't have a more disparate approach to these different groups. One more video for you guys. But you left the city open. You know what the cops told us today? They were like, we're going to push them down by you because you can deal with them. And then we're going to leave.
Starting point is 00:18:38 And then as soon as they said that- The second was fired, I had to tell like six people it wasn't for you guys. So that was a member of the militia saying that the cops wanted to use their help. Now that's one person who's making the claim, but based on all the other evidence that we've shown you guys, I think that there's a reason to suspect that the cops here were not only friendly with these militia groups, they were willing to turn the other way, turn the other cheek when they witnessed these individuals engaging in acts of violence. And what does the Kenosha Guard militia have to say about what happened?
Starting point is 00:19:19 Well, they're refusing to condemn the violence that took place. So that's number one, because of course, they love the violence. And number two, here's their statement. We're unaware if the armed citizen was answering the Kenosha Guard militia's call to arms. Just like with the shooting of Jacob Blake, we need all the facts and evidence to come out before we make a judgment, God bless and stay safe in Kenosha, or stay safe, Kenosha. I would argue it would be a lot more safe if people like you guys didn't exist, if this militia didn't exist. If armed individuals, armed so-called vigilantes didn't show up looking to antagonize protesters and open fire.
Starting point is 00:20:02 The governor, Governor Ivers, was pressured to deputize citizens to respond to the protesters, and he refused to do so. And so today, he was like, do you guys understand why I wouldn't want to do that? I mean, we have cops that are barely trained, and it leads to all sorts of violence. I mean, that's the root of the problem. That's the root of the issue. That's what's led to what we're seeing today, what Kenosha experienced last night. They barely have any training.
Starting point is 00:20:33 But sure, let's go ahead and deputize right wing terrorists in this country to go ahead and carry out more acts of violence. I'm sure that'll definitely calm the situation down. And by the way, I know- I'm just tired of it. Yeah, I guess it should be obvious to everyone. I guess it doesn't need to be said, but what have we been saying is going to happen since the very beginning of the protests? The outsiders are going to come in and murder people.
Starting point is 00:21:00 And this is exactly what it is. And even though we knew it was coming, now it's here, they're still, I'm looking at right wingers. There are tweets as of three hours ago, still defending him saying it was self-defense. He was fleeing a murder he just committed. And we've known that all day. They're still saying it was self-defense a couple of hours ago. And you know, on Monday on the damage report, we did a story that had broken a few days earlier.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And it was that in Portland, the cops who have been brutalizing protesters for like three plus months now. Now the proud boys are in force have taken a hands off approach and they're letting the proud boys come with fireworks and aluminum bats and brawl with the protesters. And that's not really new to Portland. I don't know how new this sort of cooperation is to Kenosha, but now we're seeing it in multiple cities. The cops working with the exact sort of right wing groups that so frequently hunt and kill cops themselves. The boogaloo boys want to see cops killed. They think it would be a convenient way to get this war started. But the cops, they prefer the company of people who want to see them dead to the protesters
Starting point is 00:22:06 who want to see them reformed. That's the way they've chosen in this. Yeah, because the men in blue, the people who are supposed to be protecting and serving can't handle very valid criticism of how they've been trained, about how they have terrible people within their ranks that absolutely have no business being cops, how there are actual white supremacists within their ranks who have no business being cops. They can't handle people speaking out against that. So yeah, you're right. They would much rather collude with individuals who would rather see them dead than have to deal with the truth about how awful
Starting point is 00:22:43 they are at their jobs. Yeah. Anyway, we got to take a break. When we come back, we'll show you the type of treatment Breonna Taylor protesters received in Kentucky. What's up everyone? Welcome back to TYT, Anna and John with you. Before I read member comments, I just want to note that more than a thousand people have liked this stream. And as a result, I will end the show, the main show, with my dog Charlie. Yes. As a little co-host. Oh, he's gonna hate it. He's like, well, what are you doing? No, he's gonna love it, I promise. Now Now let me read some member comments and we'll move on to the rest of the news. Jessica asks a great question.
Starting point is 00:23:33 My questions are how did he get to Wisconsin from Illinois? Who does the gun belong to and how did he get the gun? The legal age to purchase and own a firearm in Illinois is 21. The kid is 17. All great questions. And look, I don't mean to be such a downer. But I've just been doing this long enough to know that I shouldn't expect justice in this story.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Yeah. He's been arrested. And anyway, Pork Shop Express writes in and says, so freaking frustrating. Yeah. He absolutely was part of the militia. They were chasing him down because he shot someone in the head prior to this. That's right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:20 I live in Wisconsin and know people who were there. I'll read one more. Madeline says, is it just me that feels like getting drunk when I follow the news? Yeah, yeah, I think I need to consider antidepressants. Like, I'm, I can't, I can't take it anymore. The news cycle is pretty devastating. Where the country is, is pretty devastating, and there's like no end in sight. Anyway, but we got to keep fighting, right? So let's talk about what happened to Breonna Taylor protesters last night. The plain-closed police officers, I should say the plain-closed murderers of Brianna Taylor still have not been charged for shooting and killing her as she was in her own apartment.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Again, they were plain-closed cops who used a battering ram to enter her apartment past midnight when her boyfriend saw them and thought that they were intruders. He fired a warning shot. and then they proceeded to open fire leading to the death. We need to talk about a relatively new show called Un-F-The-Republic or UNFTR. As a Young Turks fan, you already know that the government, the media, and corporations are constantly peddling lies that serve the interests of the rich and powerful. But now there's a podcast dedicated to unraveling those lies, debunking the conventional wisdom.
Starting point is 00:25:45 In each episode of Un-F-The-Republic or UNF-F-F-E-NF-F-E-Rubble. The host delves into a different historical episode or topic that's generally misunderstood or purposely obfuscated by the so-called powers that be. Featuring in-depth research, razor-sharp commentary, and just the right amount of vulgarity, the UNFTR podcast takes a sledgehammer to what you thought you knew about some of the nation's most sacred historical cows. But don't just take my word for it. The New York Times described UNFTR as consistently compelling. and educational, aiming to challenge conventional wisdom and upend the historical narratives that were taught in school.
Starting point is 00:26:26 For as the great philosopher Yoda once put it, you must unlearn what you have learned. And that's true whether you're in Jedi training or you're uprooting and exposing all the propaganda and disinformation you've been fed over the course of your lifetime. So search for UNFDR in your podcast app today and get ready to get informed, angered, and entertained, all at the same time. To the murder of Brianna Taylor, these individuals are still free men. And so it's absolutely justified that people would want to demonstrate and take to the streets to demand justice. That's what happened last night.
Starting point is 00:27:10 And 68 protesters, 68 of them were arrested for a nonsense reason. Let me give you the details. Protests were largely peaceful as CNN reports, but a large group of demonstrators crossed several intersections creating dangerous situations as traffic continued to try to make its way in the area, according to the interim chief for the Louisville Metro Police Department. That's what he told reporters. That was his quote. Those arrested will be charged with obstructing the roadway and disorderly conduct. It is kind of amazing, right, that these people, these protesters, dozens of them get arrested on a single night for obstructing traffic, but the three cops who entered the home of Brianna Taylor shot and killed her. No charges, okay? The investigation is ongoing. She was shot and killed on March 13th. How long does an investigation take to figure out whether these cops did the right thing or the wrong? And by the way, there's evidence indicating that they lied about something in order to obtain
Starting point is 00:28:21 a no knock warrant from the judge. We'll get to that in just a second. By the way, it appears that these arrests were like predetermined because there was a great deal of organizing that took place prior to that night. And the police department knew about it, the city knew about it. In fact, Louisville Mayor Fisher said he had been in contact with members of until Freedom, a New York City-based social justice organization that has been stationed in Louisville since earlier this month, the organization's mission is to get into good trouble in the name of Taylor by conducting peaceful protests every Tuesday. So they knew this protest was going to happen. Tuesday's event, which organizers say it was expected to attract people from across the country,
Starting point is 00:29:03 is a half-mile march from South Central Park, a central location to the Louisville metropolitan. Police Training Academy. So even the governor seems to be, by the way, totally befuddled by the fact that the investigation is taking so long. Governor Andy Bashir said, Ms. Taylor's family deserves to know the truth. We at least need an explanation for what's taking so long. But we haven't gotten that explanation. Nothing. Nothing. These cops are out. They're free. They haven't been charged with anything. And it's the most infuriating, it's just, it's amazing how over and over again, we keep dealing with these stories. We keep seeing unrest in the country in response to the lack of justice. And still, nothing is done. Still, we hear platitudes from politicians on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:30:03 You know, I'm glad that you pointed out how long the investigation has been going on. Wouldn't you love to just tag along on that investigation for a day? Just shadow them and be like, so what are you doing? What's up for the next couple hours? Are you looking at paperwork? Are you interviewing people? What's taking five months? Most Americans don't even remember March 13th. It seems like a previous life and it's still taking them this long because it seems
Starting point is 00:30:30 like police investigations consist of checking the news. Are people still talking about this? Oh, I guess we need more time because they want to just slide out in silence and darkness. No, nothing's going to happen and there's not going to be any consequences. And shockingly, people are still invested, still watching, still trying to get justice. And so they haven't been able to do that in this case. God only knows if people stop paying attention, that could come. Yeah, and the idea that these mass arrests would happen, you know, they were just arrested,
Starting point is 00:31:02 though. It wasn't something serious like them being canceled. Anyway, it's that they're getting arrested mass, arrests of protesters. We've seen that, I don't even know how many times over the past few months. I forget which state it was, it might have been in Indiana that recently changed. If you camp out on state property, it's going to become a felony now so they can strip you of your right to vote. It would be one thing if just all of these things were happening.
Starting point is 00:31:25 That was Tennessee, I believe. Tennessee, thank you. But that all these things are happening while we have an ever present group of people that say that First Amendment rights are the most important thing to them. And they'll defend people's First Amendment rights. Oh, not like protesting or, you know, still having your Democratic rights if you disagree with the government. The response to the unrest that we're seeing across the country isn't to address the core of why the unrest is taking place in the first place. It's all about squashing people's freedoms, intimidating protesters, and preventing
Starting point is 00:32:05 the protests from happening in the first place. That's what's happening. That is the response, right? That is the response from our politicians. That is the response from the local police departments. There is, you know, very little talk of doing something that fundamentally changes the system. And look, to be fair, I don't want to be completely negative because there's There has been some progress in some parts of the country. So for instance, in Austin, Texas, they have decided the city council voted unanimously to redirect one third of the police department's budget to social services, to essentially outsourcing the forensics and investigations that usually take place within the police department.
Starting point is 00:32:54 And I think that's important because you want to ensure that when the police department is being investigated. It's not being investigated by the police department. That's been a huge problem. But what has been the response to what Austin, Texas did? Well, Governor Greg Abbott is like, okay, great, then we're going to go ahead and collect your property taxes, but you're not going to see a single cent of those property taxes in your municipality, because we disagree with this move. And so who knows how that story is going to turn out? But our elected officials are our worst enemies in a lot of cases. And rather than doing what they're supposed to do and rather than protecting our constitutionally protected rights, like the First Amendment, when it really
Starting point is 00:33:39 matters, when it goes beyond a conservative trying to speak at Berkeley, they're not willing to do what it takes. In fact, they will fight against their constituents, they will fight against American citizens, all to squash protest and dissent to ensure that, hey, let the cops keep doing what they want. Let the cops in Louisville, Kentucky, lie to obtain a no-knock warrant so they can then enter someone's home with a battering ram in the middle of the night and open fire and kill an innocent person. There were no drugs found in that home. And what am I talking about when I say they lied in regard to the no-knock warrant? I'll give you those details right now. So they had said that the post office confirmed that Brianna Taylor's home was receiving
Starting point is 00:34:25 suspicious packages. And there could be some sort of drug trafficking issue there. Again, let me note, there were no drugs found. But it was also later confirmed by a postal inspector that it was never said, no one ever said from the post office that Brianna Taylor's home was receiving packages that look suspicious. A U.S. postal inspector in Louisville said Metro Police did not use his office to verify that a drug suspect was receiving packages at Brianna Taylor's. apartment, one of the factors listed in officers' request for a no-knock warrant for her home. That seems like a pretty serious lie. No? Doesn't it? Let me give you more. But Tony Gooden, that's the postal inspector, said a different law enforcement agency asked
Starting point is 00:35:12 his office in January to investigate whether Taylor's home was receiving any potentially suspicious mail. After looking into the request, he said the local office concluded that it wasn't, that it was not. There's no packages of interest going there, he said. Okay, so I don't understand why they haven't been charged. Because there's no justice in this country. Because we support, I guess, as a country, let's just keep it 100 right now. We support extrajudicial killings.
Starting point is 00:35:46 I don't want to hear anyone talk about what's happening with Duterte in the Philippines and how he has given the green light to cops to shoot and kill whoever they want if they're drug suspects, right? That's happening here on our soil, on American soil. Americans are getting shot and killed. Extrajudicial killings by cops are warranted in America. No charges for these three cops who lied to obtain that warrant and opened fire, killing, murdering Breonna Taylor. And if you're a cop and you're upset and you're offended by what I'm saying, good, get offended. You're a murderer or you support murderers. You're not fit to be a cop.
Starting point is 00:36:27 You don't actually believe in protecting and serving, okay? I don't care about your hurt feelings. Yeah, one of the depressing things is, like we cover all this stuff. And part of it is that we care that people know about what's really happening. And part of it is because we think that will lead people to make the right choices about where we need to move to as a country. So like if we, if we, you know, showcase corruption in the Trump administration, how they're personally like they're making money off of it or something. Or, you know, we make sure that people know all of the accurate details about this militia member that just shot and killed
Starting point is 00:37:04 a bunch of people. But like it's not, maybe it never was, but we're not just like differing with the other side on where exactly should income tax levels be. Like we're telling them about the corruption and about the militia member, but they like both of those things. It's not like they disagree that Trump is making money of it. They like that outcome. It's not that they'll, they fundamentally don't think that this guy is a militia member who supports, inevitably white supremacy and all that. They want these things to happen. We're not just disagreeing about facts, although we are, we're disagreeing about what is good fundamentally. And they have a fundamentally twisted idea of what our America is supposed to be, what kind of
Starting point is 00:37:44 government we're supposed to have. We talk about like voting rights because we think that we're supposed to be a democracy. They don't give a damn about that. They're perfectly fine with America becoming a fascist country so long as they feel like, well, the cops aren't going to brutalize me. And I dream, I imagine someday I'm going to be well off. So sure, if, you know, The entire economy is twisted and set up to benefit people like that. I want to be one of those people. They fundamentally don't agree on any of these things that persuasion is supposed to be able to reach them on. It makes so much of this feel pointless. It feels like you're shouting into the void because in the void dwell monsters and they don't agree with us about what the government
Starting point is 00:38:26 is supposed to be like, who it's supposed to serve, are we supposed to be equal? They fundamentally disagree on these topics. And so like a big part of what a new show is supposed to do, I don't know, it doesn't seem to exist anymore. I don't know if maybe that's part of what what's been frustrating you recently. 100%. 100%. We got to take a break. When we come back, Mike Pompeo did something wrong that I don't care about. And we'll talk about it. We'll be right back. Hi everybody, so Charlie is making his little appearance on TYT today because we had more than a thousand people like the stream.
Starting point is 00:39:13 You like the stream, Charlie likes you and he makes an appearance. Aww, so cute. Look at all that neck fur. God, I love him so much, he's the best thing in the world. Dog to the best. I used to think dogs are the best. Now I think they're the only good thing. They're still the best, but there's nothing else.
Starting point is 00:39:32 No, there are good things. You're a good thing. You know, good things exist. Brett's a good thing. He is a good thing. I've told him that for years. All right, well, so thank you for liking the stream guys. That really does help out the show and we really appreciate it. A few notes, I wanted to also mention that if you're a viewer on Twitch, There is a Charlie emote. It is a tier two emote. I don't know what that means, but that sounds great. And you should definitely do whatever it is that you need to do to get that tier two emote because it's fun. With that said, let's check in with our thermometer to see where we're at with our fundraising effort. I've really dropped the ball on this because we are at $105,417.
Starting point is 00:40:21 And the goal is to get to 200,000 by the end of the month. And we're not in good shape for this month. So if you can, please go to tyt.com slash go. TYT.com slash go to contribute. We would really appreciate it because you guys help to keep this show sustainable. A few comments. Keldo Head says, how does Anna continue to do her job so well? That's really nice of you.
Starting point is 00:40:48 without having a mental breakdown. I do have mental breakdowns. I regularly have to take breaks from watching TYT because it's so harrowing. I smoke a lot of pot after the show, like immediately after the show. I might be stoned when we do the R&C coverage tonight. Don't tell my boss. Who's Jake, by the way? If you're going to be, you just got to give Emma heads up so she can catch up to you. I know, I know, okay, we got to go, we got to go. We have more news to get to. So, House Democrats, have launched, House Democrats have launched an investigation into Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's unprecedented RNC speech from Jerusalem. Pompeo was on an official State Department trip, and this trip was in the Middle East and also North Africa. But Dems argue that Pompeo
Starting point is 00:41:37 violated the Hatch Act. First, let's take a look at what his speech was for the RNC. I'm speaking to you from beautiful Jerusalem, looking out over the old city. I have a big job as Susan's husband and Nick's dad. Susan and Nick are more safe and their freedoms more secure because President Trump has put his America First Vision into action. President Trump understands what my great fellow Kansas and President Eisenhower said, for all that we cherish and justly desire for ourselves or for our children, the securing of peace is the first requisite delivering on this duty to keep us safe and our freedom's intact. This president has led bold initiatives in nearly every corner of the world in North Korea. The president lowered
Starting point is 00:42:23 the temperature, and against all odds got the North Korean leadership to the table. The president too moved the U.S. Embassy to this very city of God, Jerusalem, the rightful capital of the Jewish homeland. And just two weeks ago, the president brokered a historic peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. This is a deal that our grandchildren will read about in their history books, the way each of us can best ensure our freedoms is by electing leaders who don't just talk, but who deliver. So why is this wrong? Well, the decision to speak to the political convention in pre-recorded remarks from Jerusalem breaks with longstanding precedent of sitting secretaries of state avoiding
Starting point is 00:43:07 partisan politics, particularly while abroad, and appears to violate guidance on political activities that Pompeo himself emphasized in a cable to diplomats just last month. Just a month earlier, he warned staff in a diplomatic cable to not improperly engage in the Department of State, or the Department of State in the political process and stressed departmental guidance on political activities. And so now, Joaquin Castro and other Democrats are launching an investigation into Pompeo. I should note that Castro is the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Investigations Committee, and he says, quote, it is highly unusual and likely unprecedented for a sitting
Starting point is 00:43:54 secretary of state to speak at a partisan convention for either of the political parties. It appears that it may also be illegal. Now a state's department spokesperson says that it's not because Pompeo cleared this. And another source familiar with the situation defended the move Sunday by saying Pompeo would deliver the remarks in his personal capacity and that no taxpayer funds would be used. The source said the speech was cleared through Pompeo's personal lawyers, State Department, and White House lawyers. Oh, that's gonna give me some confidence and R&C lawyers. All of them are hacks and yeah, criminals like, ooh, criminal.
Starting point is 00:44:35 At TYT, we frequently talk about all the ways that big tech companies are taking control of our online constantly monitoring us and storing and selling our data, but that doesn't mean we have to let them. It's possible to stay anonymous online and hide your data from the prying eyes of big tech. And one of the best ways is with ExpressVPN. Starting point is 00:45:37 I said that what Pompeo said, did is okay. It's totally right. didn't break any laws. The White House lawyers, they okay to? Oh, well, in that case, yeah, no, it must be fine. And no taxpayer funds, did he pay for the ticket himself? Not thought that that would even be fine. But look, I don't even, I hate all of the violations, picking out this one in particular
Starting point is 00:45:58 when Melania is giving a Rose Garden speech and Trump is definitely going to do it in a day. It just seems weird. I don't know. It also seems weird to violate this longstanding tradition to give such a boring speech. Jesus, the back shot was the most interesting part of by far of that entire thing. But yeah, they've broken all the rules. And walking Castro there, I think it's great that he still talks about things potentially being illegal.
Starting point is 00:46:25 To me, I don't know, feel free to disagree with me, both Anna and the audience. It seems quaint to talk about members of the Trump administration potentially having done something that's illegal. That implies that they could potentially, what's that? I don't care. I don't care even a little bit. Like not even a little. There's no stimulus bill, guys. There's still no stimulus bill. Tens of millions of Americans are unemployed. I don't, I don't care where Pompeo does his speech. I don't care if he does it on a boat. I don't care if he does it on a goat. I don't care. I get it, it's wrong. We're not in
Starting point is 00:47:04 normal times. We're not in normal times. Fucking Castro. Hey, hey, hey, I I'm glad that you want to do something, that's awesome. We don't have a stimulus bill. People are suffering right now. There's unrest throughout the country. The three cops that murdered Brianna Taylor are still out. They're free. Is the federal government gonna do anything about it?
Starting point is 00:47:23 Is Congress gonna do anything about it? Oh no, okay, I don't care about Pompeo. I don't care what he's giving his speech. It's a giant waste of time. I'm tired of these nonsense, dead end congressional investigations. I'm tired of it. Do something, okay? Get back to work and get a stimulus bill passed.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Get it done. Get it done. Yeah, it's America, so that's not going to happen. Let me ask you a serious question though. Would you have made that goat reference if you had not so recently held Charlie? Come on, you got incepted by goats. My dog does look like a baby goat. You're right.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Anyway, look, I'm, I just think priorities, right? So the number one priority of our lawmakers should be to represent Americans, especially at this time of crisis. What's happening with the post office? I mean, we just heard from DeJoy in those hearings, okay, cool, you had the hearings, that's awesome. You guys engaged in the theatrics, you guys engaged in political theater, now what? Now what? I'd love to know because DeJoy said that he will not reinstall mail sorting machines.
Starting point is 00:48:41 What are you guys going to do about that? Oh, okay, we're gonna investigate Pompeo. I don't care. I don't care. Let's move on to the next story. Less Americans in swing states are concerned about coronavirus because of course, and at the same time, new polling indicates that Donald Trump's approval rating in these swing states has increased. So this was done by CNBC and Change Research, and here's what the polling found. In Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, only 66% of likely voters said they have serious concerns about COVID-19. The sheriff fell from 69% in a poll taken two weeks earlier. The share of respondents who said they have very serious concerns about the
Starting point is 00:49:27 coronavirus dropped from 45% or I'm sorry, dropped to 45% from 49%. And when it comes to how Donald Trump has handled coronavirus, well, it turns out that his approval rating rose to 47% the highest since mid-May. Earlier this month, only 44% of respondents said they approved of how Trump is handling COVID-19. Awesome, great. This is all wonderful news. And for everyone who thinks the by has got it in the bag and Trump will get voted out of office, don't get so confident because there's some pretty damning numbers in regard to that as well. Yeah, yeah, and I have a theory I've been talking about on the show this week about what's going to clinch it for Trump. But yeah, so their approval shot up by a few points.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Did the number of Americans who died dropped by a bunch of thousands? No, those people are still dead. I think, again, we are, we're a failed state. We are a pathetic, like I mean, as a people and as a country, this is what we are. The government could not have failed any worse, I don't think. And like you walk around and you see a bunch of people, half of them think he did a good job. I like this. More of this, please, four more years of a pandemic that could have killed 15,000 Americans killing 180,000 plus. These are the expectations that people have been trained
Starting point is 00:51:00 to have for their government, is that you can fail this poorly, and they'll be okay with it. And people are just moving on, and I sort of get it, it's difficult, people have had a lot of anxiety, people have lost everything, people have lost family members, I get that, I have myself. I walk around, it looks like a significant percentage of the people, even in LA, have moved on and don't care about this anymore. Certainly at the RNC, if that was the only way you knew about what was going in America, every reference to the pandemic was in the past tense. Yep. And look at this, and people are accepting it. Yeah, we're apparently fine. I mean, sure, the latest report I saw 1150 people had died in just one day, but we're moving on. It doesn't
Starting point is 00:51:42 matter anymore. It has been totally normalized that that many people are going to die. And that That's going to continue for literally months. We're going to get another 50 to 100,000 deaths at least, and that is going to get a double thumbs up from half of the American public. I love that you mentioned the messaging about coronavirus from the RNC, because you got a hand to the Republicans, they will lie in your face and they will do it repeatedly until you believe them. And so yeah, you're absolutely right. They speak about coronavirus as if it's in the past tense, as if we're not dealing with this pandemic, as if 177,000 Americans haven't already died. They talk about it as if Trump's handling was a success.
Starting point is 00:52:21 And unfortunately, that propaganda works. And I think that the messaging from the Trump administration about this unfortunately has persuaded a pretty significant portion of swing state voters. And that is not a good sign for Joe Biden. So let's move on to how this is impacting the election. So swing state voters said by a 51% to 49% margin that they think Joe Biden and Democrats would do a better job than Trump and the GOP of handling the coronavirus, that number is devastating, guys, devastating. Only 51% think that Biden would do a better job. That's it.
Starting point is 00:53:02 He has an edge over the incumbent in five of the six states while North Carolina is virtually tied. And if you look at the specific numbers, that's also not looking good. Arizona, Biden only leads by two percentage points, 49% to 47%. Florida, it's 49% to 46%. Michigan, Biden leads 50% to 44%. North Carolina Biden leads, 48% to 47%. I mean, these are razor thin margins. Not a good look when you consider how much of a disaster Donald Trump has been.
